I have tried to make wraps a few times now but am not very successful at it.

What kind of wraps do you use? Mine seem to crack and break.:o

Also what do you put on them to make them so yum, like the ones you see at muffin break.

Suggestions please.:chef:

I just bought mountain bread for the first time this week. My kids love it (I do too) and it doesn't seem to break when it is rolled (it is superthin bread). You can get in the bread section at the supermarket.

Would I warm them before I roll them? Would they still be alright for the kids to eat for school lunch?

i would say so.. i think it just helps with the initial rolling.... and yes my mum use to always heat them, then put the mince in them, then rold them......

we only ever had burito rolls which she would then cook in the oven as a roll next to each other, which made it crispy.. and staied the same shape.....

I use burrito tortillas, and use them as they are...no worries .

I put butter, mayo, chicken, tomato, cucumber, grated cheese, then lettuce and roll, tucking the bottom in as i go so it doesn't fall out. I'm about to try a Caesar Dressing on the chicken instead of mayo, might give it a bit more taste.

Yep I use the rectangular mountain bread, tortillas or the large pocket breads (split in half and overlapped like in Kebab shops).

For fillings I use combos of any of the following:

Meats:

BBQ Chicken (or cooked breast/thighs), sliced roast beef/lamb, ham, tuna, salami.

Salads:

Lettuce, tomato, grated cheese/carrot/beetroot, sliced mushrooms, olives, jalapenos, tabouli, onion, shallots, avocado, etc

Sauces: (these essentially make the wraps)

Tomato, BBQ, Honey Mustard, Thousand Island, Ranch dressing, Tzatziki, Garlic mayo, Hot chilli, Sweet chilli, Hummous etc.

I try weird combos of sauces: Im addicted to mixing flavours lol.

For the kids - I normally do something simple if its for their lunch boxes.. like vegemite and cheese, egg and lettuce, carrot and cheese, ham and salad etc.

I use the Old Elpaso burrito tortilla wraps. I make salad and tuna, spag bolognese, chicken and salad etc.

I don't warm them ever and they roll up fine and Jayce takes them to school.

mmmm mountain bread!

I make a dressing with sour cream, mayonaisse, dijon mustard and balsamic vinegar (mm mm!!)

then marinated lamb or chicken or beef or ham with salad and cheese... and sometimes a bity of salsa.

Also with mountain bread I put it in the oven and break it up with dip or nachos

ORR!! You can mould it in a bowl and stick it in the oven so it's like a crispy edible salad bowl.. yummmm... makes salad so much more interesting!!

DH says the same about flavours, he adds all sorts of flavours and insists its all about maximum flavour
