DH is 9 months old and has 3 (that i can see) teeth coming through atm. He is very grumpy and whinges all day long. He is not sleeping very well and when he wakes up early in the morning, it is taking me 2 hours to get him back to sleep. I am just doing absolutely everything that i can think of to get him back to sleep!

Will this affect his sleeping later on? I am a bit concerned that he will come to think that he needs to be rocked back to sleep or something similar. What experience do others have?

Thanks.

Just do everything you can to comfort him. Hes in pain at the moment and teething is very unpleasant.

For teething pain I swear by bonjela teething gel and panadol - both seem to ease the pain and help bubs settle. I also give my girls a cold teether or rusks or cold carrot to chew on. Even a wet cold (out of the firdge) face washer or ice cube wrapped in a face washer to suck on has helped my DD1 when she had sore teeth/gums.

And lots of cuddles.

I found that once their teeth are through sleeping goes back to normal pretty quickly.

Hi Angela, yes I would agree with the pain relief, go with baby panadol.

Cheers.

Thanks for your help guys!

I am giving DS Bonjela and Baby panadol which seems to be working ok. His night sleeps have been a little better but today his afternoon nap was 3.5 hours!! I assume he is just so tired and worn out from the whole ordeal. I hope he feels better very soon because i hate watching him in so much pain. :(

When Lucas (18mths) is teething I use a teething elixir (actually I call it the MAGIC teething elixir) that a chemist in Watsonia makes. It's only to be used for short term but I find that giving Lucas Panadol too often can give him 'the runs'.

Will this affect his sleeping later on? I am a bit concerned that he will come to think that he needs to be rocked back to sleep or something similar.
After the pain of teething is gone, Lucas takes a few nights to settle back into his routine...he quickly grasps onto to something new and thinks that he can do it every night!
Good luck and if you want the name of the chemist just pm me.
I forgot to mention, if your little one doesn't mind a dummy, there is a 'teething dummy' which doesn't have a 'teat' to suck on but a teething 'bit' (for want of a better word!) which has little bumps on it to massage itchy/sore gums. If you rub Bonjella onto it it saves from getting fingers bitten - learnt that the hard way!!!

Hiya,Tahlia got 6 teeth at once, and she was also a complete mess with sleeping, fever etc.... I found that baby nurofen bought her temp down a lot better than Panadol did at that stage, but with her other teeth Panadol worked fine.

Her sleep went out the window also, but like Moonblossom, said, do anything (as Im sure you are!) to comfort and it didnt take T long to get back her "normal" sleeps.

I have also heard wonders about a natural remedy called "Hiland Drops". I bought it for T and she managed to vomit everywhere with them, but like I say all I have ever heard about them is how good they are and how well they work etc.

Good luck!

I have found that baby neurofin is better than baby panadol because it reduces the inflammation in their gums as well as easing pain.

But they need to have it after a meal/milk.

Keep soldiering on mate, it won't last forever. :)

Thanks Ladies!

I don't know why i said that i am using Panadol because i am actually using Baby Nurofen! DUH!! DS had a fever and that brought it down really quickly.

And I will go and have a look for that dummy today. I have seen it around!

DH has taken the day off work today as DS had a shocking night last night and i have had next to no sleep!! Hopefully these teeth are very quick to come through because it is so draining!!:(
