Hi
I know its a long shot but we got Joel a bed from Ikea at the weekend and I've only just realised we forgot to buy the slats :banghead: So if anyone is going in the next couple of weeks that lives near us at Kallangur that wouldn't mind getting the slats it would be very much appreciated.

I live near Ikea, but my car is a bomb and wouldnt get me to Kallanger LOL. I think they will do delivery though - Id call them and see, I mean if delivery is $50 then maybe not worth it. Id tell them that the salesperson should have asked you about slats when buying the bed - the fact that they didnt is poor customer service and who knows they might send you the slats with no delivery fee???
Sorry I couldnt help out!
Kel
Hey Jude
We may go to ikea this weekend or the weekend afterwards. But not 100% sure yet. I guess, friday or saturday we will know.
It also depens, if my PIL could look after both boys, which I'm not utterly keen on, especially with Nathan..
But I agree with ImSethsMum, that this is very bad costumer Service. They should have asked you.
Maybe you really can give them a call and ask them about delievery but I guess, because it's from the southside, it prob. gonna cost a fortune.
Otherwise, if it can wait, til the weekend or the next one, then for sure, we can pick that up for you and bring it round. :)

Hi
That would be great Claudia!
Customer service??? We didn't see anyone. It is mainly my fault they had two item locations for the bed and we went to the first one and there were two boxes so I thought maybe they store it in the bed section and the childrens section?? Didn't twig the slats would be in a different place. I've checked my reciept and they didn't charge us for the slats they are an extra $20..don't know who would buy the bed without the slats?
Delivery is $50 for the first 40km and then $1.50 per km after that..so not worth it for $20 slats. If worst comes to the worst we will have to have another trip down there. Just thought if someone was going it would be great..can't imagine the box would be too big.
Let me know if you end up going and I'll give you the details

Hi
Yes we are just waiting for the slats..and yes we are game. We tried taking off one side of his cot a couple of weeks ago..that lasted a day and a half. Think it was 15 times he raced out. How can you not laugh though when he bursts out his bedroom door with teddy tucked under his arm.how cute.
XX See how the bed goes, may have the cot on standby
We had the same issue with Jason, when we put him into his big bed.
Even now, after over a year, he still comes out.. Some nights are easier some are more difficult.
We had the cot also as standby option but once he figured out, he could actually climb out of there, it was useless. And I guess, Joel knows now pretty good how to do that, did he had a good teacher yesterday
We're going on friday to my PIL and ask them if they could look after the kiddies on Saturday.
I just don't like dropping Nathan off there, MIL just overfeeds him..
Last time we went to Ikea and left the kids there, Nathan had 4! Bottles in 3 hrs... (normally he has one within 3 to 4 hrs) and of course, he threw up afterwards and was sick the entire weekend..

Hi
Yes he did have a very good teacher yesterday but fortunately he isn't quite as nimble as Julie yet.
4 bottles in 3 hours??? Is there something wrong with her??? Maybe just leave her enough formula for 2 bottles then she can't do too much damage. I'm home all weekend...Michelle is working Saturday and Sunday if you feel comfortable leaving Nathan with me? Up to you no worries if you don't feel comfortable.

Good on you Jude!! Go for it though, its worth it!!
But.... kids being kids, they will come out!!
People think we are nasty, but we put one of those wooden barriers up at his door, so we could still leave the door open & he couldn't get out!
Worked a dream for us!!
he would sook at the door for a bit, but eventually give up!
Claudia...... I would soooooooooo leave Nathan with Jude.... safer  You know he will be in good hands!!

just wait a couple days, maybe months and he will be as nimble as julie :D

Whenever Nathan makes a sound, she gives him a bottle. And you know how many sounds Nathan makes..
Maybe just leave her enough formula for 2 bottles then she can't do too much damage.
tried that and believe me, she can do more damage than you think..
She would give him water, i hope at least it was cooled down after boiling and a little bit (how much that is in her language I don't wanna know) of OJ.. :banghead:

For me, I would def feel more comfortable with anyone else. Nothing against my MIL but since she had her histerectomy (no idea how you spell that) she isn't the same anymore (something went wrong during the op and now she's on medication and painkillers).. But I don't want to offend her, she gets offended so easily..
When I was speaking german to Jason, she was really upset, cause she didn't understand a word and always thought I'm telling Jason not to go to here and avoid here and stuff like that...
I don't know what she was expecting, we just moved here from Switzerland, he hasn't seen her since he was 4 mths old (oh yeah, babies have such a great memory) and there just for 3 weeks, of course he's not running towards her and gives her cuddles and stuff (he not even does now..)
And I also don't know what my Husband would say about that, he doesn't know you and Nathan is very precious to him and this are his parents..
But thx for the offer, I'll talk to my husband about it, since he's also not quite fond of the way, his mum looks after Nathan..

Hi Melissa
That would be great if you could get them!
It is the Sniglar bed, it is on the back wall in the childrens bed area. I think there are three of them going up the wall. I have the bed (head board, foot board, and side parts) I just need the slats. There are two locations on the ticket..I'm assuming one of them is the slats
I'll hunt around to see if I still have the location written down somewhere. Can't find it sorry..not sure it is the right location for the slats anyway so probably best if you check on the ticket
Thanks in advance if you are able to get them. What do you want me to do about the $20? Are you happy for me to give it to you when you get here?
Thanks again

Claudia
No worries regarding Nathan, if the situation was reversed Michelle would probably want your family history and a police check before leaving Joel especially at such a young age..so I understand just thought I'd offer.
I'll let you know if Melissa is able to get them for me.
I would have continued the German to annoy her  Is she ok with Jason? I guess he would pretty much fend for himself.
Otherwise see you next week

Like I said, i really appreciate your offer. But my husband would be exactly the same. Serious background check, inspection of the house, supervising cameras and so on
I'll let you know if Melissa is able to get them for me.
That's fine. if not, no big deal for us.

He's ok now but in the beginning, there was no way he would stay there unless is grandpa was there. I think, he was a bit scared of her, what I can understand, I would too if I would be a little kid.
He knows, he can basically do whatever he wants, eat whatever is round, get as many juices and softdrink as he wants and make more noise than you possibly can imagine, without anyone complaining.
They would let him eats sweets and lollies or ice cream before dinner and then they're suprised, that he doesn't eat his dinner anymore..
Otherwise see you next week
Looking forward to.

Hi
Unfortunately Melissa was unable to go to Ikea today..so I'm still slat-less :( Its becoming a saga. Let me know Claudia if you end up going..is it open on Monday does anyone know???? Might end up having to trek down there again.
Your MIL is sounding 100 times worse than Nessas!! Tell me why did you choose to move from Beautiful Switzerland..was it to be near the PIL?
The hunt continues..guess I'll check out their website regarding Monday

It is closed Monday
I expected that Ikea will be closed on Monday, I think thre's not much open that day..
But we should be able to go on Saturday. I want to have a look at some storage things for Jason's Room and a drawer for Nathan's.
Yep, I moved to Australia, that I could be near my PIL. For a while we even considered, buying the house around the corner from their place, so that she could walk over all the time
My MIL is actually not that bad, she just loses it from time to time. And doesn't really know what she's talking about. It's all due to medication, so I actually feel guilty for being mean to/about her. But when it comes to my childern, I'm just overprotective and sensitive and can get really angry, if someone doesn't do what i tell them to do. :devil6:

Hi
That was a lucky escape not buying the house around the corner!!
My MIL lives 5 mins away but fortunately we get along pretty well. There again we don't leave Joel with her. We left him once when he was little and when we came home his cot had about 50 toys in it  I'm not exagerating either..thought he would go to sleep if she threw the toys in there??? He ended up sleeping on her knee for 3 hours..think she made a mad dash to the toilet when he woke up.
Anyway I'll send you the link for the bed in a PM, just let me know if you manage to get them

Hi
The very kind Claudia got the slats for us yesterday!
Thanks again to all..especially Claudia
Jude and Joel

Like I already mentioned, it was really no problem at all.
We were there and so it wasn't a big thing to pick up the slats as well.
And as we came back, she was sooo relieved, she was so worried, that Nathan would start screaming, cause he was hungry and she used already the 3 bottles of milk we gave her, we dropped him off around 11 am, I fed him some solids and a bottle, which usually lasts about 3 to 4 hrs, and when we came back just past 3 pm, she told us, that he was so hungry and got through all 3 bottles
And that he would be ready for another bottle, because he had his fingers/hands in his mouth and was making some "strange" noises..
We told her, that he's teething, that's why he does this kind of thing but it was just no point. She insisted, that he's hungry and needs another feed..
He didn't had another feed until about 7 pm that day, he was completely fine..
Luckily, they don't buy them toys, only for X-mas, which is painful enough.
But I can imagine, that Joel wouldn't go to sleep, when he has a cot full of toys..
She sometimes buys him clothes but either to big, which is alright, he'll grow into them, or to small (asking what size he is would be an idea)..
