RE: slings - i had a cheapie and it used to kill my neck even when lily was under 3kg. then i got a secend hand baby bjorn "active carrier" and it is great. she spends about 4 hours a day in there and so far so good.
Lily was off her food yesterday. at first i though it was that she was over stimulated but now i think it is her relux playing up. It always seems to happen when we get close to the end of her losec suspension - it is $50 a bottle (for about 3.5 weeks worth). i think next month i will have to chuck the last 3 days worth.
Otherwise lily is starting to sleep through from her late feed until 645am. good girl. i am awake but i just lie under the covers and resist the urge to check on her.
The wedding on the weekend was good fun. my family really knows how to have a good time. i was one of the only family members who did know fall down repeatedly from being drunk! it was nice to get my hair done and get dressed up.

warning - Telstra vent
I am so mad today, I actually can't think of the last time I was so mad. Our landline home phone hasn't been working since Anzac Day (when we went away) Dh has been constantly calling Telstra from work to get them to see whats wrong. Finally today - 6 days of it being off Telstra are finally going to send a tech out but they have told DH that because we are in a rural area it is not a priority area so the tech may not come until after 5:30pm tomorrow. My annoyance is this... Rural to them is not a priority yet I am 10km from the nearest town, 2.5km from the closest neighbour, no shops and I am here with a young child and if anything happens I cannot call an ambulance, police etc - as lovely Telstra does not provide mobile service in our area either. So in an area where I cannot call anyone, cannot just pop next door or call out to someone close by or get to a phone box I am not a priority??!! We also live on a farm where there could be a bushfire, we have electric fences where there could be an accident, farm machinery etc for insurance we have to have public liability for being in a rural area as it is considered dangerous... yet Telstra don't seem to think we are as important as people in the city who have mobile coverage, have neighbours to help them, can walk to a phone box etc!! If something happens am I supposed to email 000!!! :banghead: So they aren't in a rush to help and they can't tell us when they can come and fix it and get this - they told DH they will call for directions of how to get here before they come... HELLO DUMB ASSES the phone is not working!!!!:banghead::banghead:
Im not religious... but please Lord give me strength!!!

I didn't even realise that today was the start of a new month !! :D
Ziggy - Sensational photo... you both look so good !!
Squiggles - I've said it once and I will say it again.... TELSTRA *ARE* THE SPAWN OF SATAN !!
Well, I'm doing the happy dance right now... :smiliedance: <--see? *LOL*
I'm going to write a letter of resignation today to my current hospital so that I can start working again at my beloved old hospital (I never did fully cut the 'umbilical cord' when I left there... I missed it so much). Ironically, it is exactly a year today since I started at the new hospital.
I've just rung the Australian Nursing Federation (my union) and they tell me that because my maternity leave more than covers the period of notice that I would have to give, I'm not obligated to work any shifts at the current hospital. I can simply hand in my resignation, get my Certificate of Service (which I need to transfer all my entitlements - ie long service leave, sick leave etc - back to my old hospital) and walk out the door. I'm so excited right now !!
I'll admit that I do feel a bit guilty though because it's kinda like "well, thanks for the 16 weeks paid maternity leave... now pi$$ off !!" and my Nursing Unit Manager is a nice guy. But I've never enjoyed that particular Intensive Care Unit... the staff aren't *****y or anything, but they do take themselves just a little bit too seriously... get a life people !!!
The nurses at my old hospital are just fab.. they have a great sense of humour (well, most of them anyway) and you know you can have a good laugh with them. I miss them all so much !! They're the sort of people that if you have to work a Christmas or Easter.. then it's not so bad because it's like being with family anyway... it's only those pesky critically ill patients that make it not as fun !! ;)
This does mean a cut in pay for me (I was working in higher duties at the current hospital) plus a longer drive to and from work (an hour each way)... but I think that if it means I am happy, then surely the sacrifice has to be worth it.
I'm actually working back at my old hospital on Sunday night as a casual shift and I can't wait !! (I bet my enthusiasm will have changed by 7:30am Monday morning !! :) )
Ok, I'll shut up now..

well i am agreeing about telstra being the spawn of satan... they are awful!! The amount of times i have had to ring them about them incorrectly charging me for something is unreal
they are seriously a sandwich short of a picnic... i mean geez...
penny thats pretty good news about your work! id be pretty happy with that!! How are you gunna feel about leaving k?

We got this done in Hong Kong (I hope you can see it clear enough). It took us two hours to get a 3D picture of Kaelan that could be used for the crystal art.
The etching of Kaelan in the glass is 3D so you can look at it from multiple sides.. it is truly the coolest thing. We have pretty much captured Kaelan in time within glass.

Sharon (Ziggy) - Happy B'Day to Lily!! You guys looked great in the pic.....Is your hair darker than it used to be? You made me laugh about lying under the covers...I do the same thing but I usually give into my urge and check on Jack. I was hoping I would have calmed down by now but I always worry that the blanket might be covering his face or something stupid like that (of course it never is)
US - Jack was a little better last night only woke twice...not sure what's going on??? He woke at 5.30am and I could hear him talking on the monitor so I just ignored him and he went back to sleep for another hour.
WELCOME Bernie  Looking forward to hearing all about you and Harrison

Good morning lovely ladies,
How are we all today? I've been MIA and I apologise. I've had some major Mother issues and trying to resolve them as well as run a household.
I have just booked Ben and Matthew in for a hearing test as I'm concerned about Matthew.
Other than that all is well. My boys are growing. They don't seem as big as yours though.
How much do all your babies weigh and what amount are they eating?
How was the meet last week?
I would like to invite you guys to my place for a coffee, when would be best for you.
The best days for me are Tuesday, Wed(I have Jake), Thursday or Fri till the end of May.
Welcome Bernie.

Hey all!
wow a new month already, time is just flying by.
Penny- congrats on your decision to go back to your old hospital. I agree, happiness comes before money and time!! thats why i was always studying this, then that, and working here then there. I couldnt be happy where i was and knew life was just to short to 'put up' with it! Now i feel like ive got the best job in the world and that im doin what i should be doing and thats being a mum!
p.s thanks for adding me to your profile and that glass crystal of Kaelan is so amazing!
Sharon- Wow you look so fantastic in that pic and so does little lily, what a beautiful girl!
Jen- Sorry to hear about telstra- you should let them try and call you to get directions then maybe they'd realise how desperate your situation is when they are driving all over the country side looking for your place
Well I recieved a call from the pead this morning. They did some x-rays the other week and it appears that Lillyana's sutures on her head are fusing together faster than normal so im now going to have to see a skull specialist :crying: They say they might have to give her a cat scan and put her under general anesthetic. I feel sick just thinking about it, if it appears they are right then lilly will have to undergo surgery to correct it. Now im really feeling sick thinking about this. Tan, you are going through a similar thing and i really know how devistating the news is. I just have to pray my little girl will be ok and that its not what it appears to be.
i must admit that as soon as the doc started telling me what was wrong the first thing i thought was 'what did i do wrong?' Was it something i did during my pregnancy that has caused this to happen? is it because she was stuck in the birth canal for so long? should i just have stopped being selfish and asked for the ceasar asap? I just feel terrible that i may have caused this in some way and that my baby girl will have to endure a painful procedure at such a tiny age because of me. :crying:

Wow 2 pages on the May thread already.
Telstra - I am an anti telstra person too. I gave them the flick about 7 years ago when they ripped me off on their charging for a new phone line (I took them to the ombudsmen too). I have been with Primus ever since.
Penny - Glad you worked out the networking thing. I'll check out your profile soon.
The crystal is awesome. I'm pretty sure I have seen a place on the Gold Coast that does them (but I can't remember where lol)
Well done on switching back to your old hospital too, how many hours are you planning to work? and will your DP look after Kaelan when you're at work?
Welcome Bernie  I look forward to chatting with you (I hope you don't think we are all a bunch of overly hormonal nutters, it has been a bit full on in here lately  )
Shajake - Welcome back, the next Melb meet is on for this thursday in the city. I have already PM'd you about it, there's still time to come along if you want to, let me know ok?
I'll keep you updated on the meets at each other's houses too, the next one will be at Sandy's.
Us - Had a good night, R slept through, fed at 7am and then slept again until 10am. I had a bit of a sleep in too. I have been getting lots of headaches lately which are annoying me.
Lovely day in Melb, I am supposed to be doing some housework but I think we will walk down to the lake and shops this arvo instead. I can do the housework on a rainy day ;)
Question - What date is Mother's Day? I thought it was this sunday, but my calendar says it's on the 13th

Hi Everyone,
I have just registered on this website since my sister who is due in August discovered it.
I have a baby boy who is 11 weeks old and nicknamed trouble. I am proud to say I have survived the first two months without knowing anything about babies and having no family (except my sister) in Australia and a husband who worked 70+ hours a week, 7 days a week, who up to a few weeks ago had one day off since Caleb was born. He got a promotion in late Jan to Queensland Manager and was told to sack all staff and employ a new team so this meant that he had to work on site. Things have settled down now and have had a few days out with friends without Caleb and also now getting visitors from NZ. Caleb is now sleeping from 6pm to 2am then wakes anywhere between 5-6.30 to start the day. My next issue is when to go back to work. They have already rung me begging me to come back. Can someone tell me about childcare payments etc?? Does anyone know any mothers groups that are around the Coomera area in QLD or where I can find out?
Rochelle - 19/12/77
Calum 26/7/74
Caleb 11/2/07
PS - will attach a photo once I workout how.

Hi Rochelle  welcome to the group and sorry to hear you have been having it a bit tough. You will find heaps of info in this forum aswell as support from others and the chance to meet some new people.
Juzzy - I was just wondering, did you go straight from newborn nappies into crawlers or did you use infants first? I have just started R in crawlers, he was in infants for about a month and he weighs 6.5 kgs now
I haven't had lunch yet, I've been feeling a bit queasy in the stomach for a few days. Now I feel like a bacon butty so I think I will have one

Sorry, was a bit sick last week and have just been SO busy.
How is everyone? WAY too many posts to read all of them I'm afraid.
On the nappy front...Charlie has been in Infants (he now weighs about 6.6kg), but i've just put him in the medium Aldi brand (as recommended by my SIL) and they seem great! And SO much cheaper than huggies.
Anyway, i'll try and catch up a bit.
Take care everyone...and welcome to the new mummies

Grisly and wriggly and just generally being a pain in the butt... so much fun when you are at Mothers Group and trying to have a conversation with other people. He's just had a massive screaming session since coming home again (tears and all)... but I've given him part of a bottle and he's gone straight off to sleep... little poppet was obviously tired.

I live with a pom... and I've just come back from the UK (so that MUST make me an expert !! ;) *LOL*)...and I've never heard the term 'butty'. I'll have to ask DF about it
After seeing all your babies weights... I'm a little concerned. I weighed Kaelan on my scales lastnight (weighed him and I together, then me seperately and deducted the weight) and he is only weighing 5.4kilos. Considering that he is older than most of your babies (even though he was only 6lb 5oz at birth)... he is almost a kilo lighter than everyone else. I might try weighing him again tonight to see if I get a different result.
For those bottle feeding.... how much do your babies drink?? I'm shocking at keeping track at how many times I feed K in a day, but he usually only drinks 120mls at a time. Sometimes he'll have 150ml and very, very rarely 180ml. I feel like he should be drinking a larger amount at each feed. He is 13 weeks old today BTW.

*Long post alert*
(otherwise known as "I have no life" alert!)
Well, Liam is asleep to the world at the moment so I thought I'd write some personals. Please don't be offended if I've missed anyone... I love you all!
Squiggles - I agree... Telstra suck. We moved to Optus a few weeks ago. Too early to tell if they are any better. Telstra have been calling us offering us all kinds of better rates to get us back. Why couldn't they have given us those rates in the first place??
Icugal - Good to hear that you are going back to your old job. Sometimes it can be so hard to chuck something in when it isn't right for you as it often feels like you are going backwards again. But in your gut you know it is the right decision. Good on you! If you are worried about Kaelan's weight maybe you could check in with your health nurse. He doesn't look scrawny in your pics though. I can't weigh Liam on our scales at home properly as the dial is too big to give an accurate reading for such a small weight. I don't think he is as big as some of the other chubbies out there! <insert big cheesy teasing smile here!>
Shajake - Just saw your coffee invite. What city/suburb are you in again? It's good that you're getting Ben and Matthew's hearing checked early if you have a concern. What makes you think Matthew might have a problem?
Butterflymumma - Don't beat yourself up over Lilly's skull problem. So not your fault. Hope everything goes well at the specialist... will be thinking of you.
Hels - Mothers' Day is definitely on the 13th. It is plastered all over our junk mail! Are your headaches a recent thing? Went to doc today and mentioned that I have been feeling a bit light-headed at times. She said that sometimes after giving birth your thyroid gland can be a bit out of whack. I had to have a blood test for other stuff anyway so she added it to the list of things to check for. I've never heard of a butty either. My Mum used to always call our bottoms 'butties'!
Rochelle - Welcome! Mothers' Groups are usually organised through the maternal & child health centre. I'd give them a call and see what they say.
Juzzy - I had a dodgy box of newborn nappies ages ago. I persevered with them but I should have sent them back as apparently they had a faulty run at one stage. Maybe you could email Huggies. Let us know what they say! I'll be moving Liam into Crawlers soon. Anyone know if the boxes are on special this week anywhere?
Mumslilspunks - I didn't even notice that you added an 's' to your name. I'm an editor and should notice these things! Sorry to hear that you and your H (not DH at the moment) are still arguing. At least there is no fear of getting pregnant if you are sleeping in the spare room!
NoMoreScuba - Hello! Good to hear you are still alive and well. Thought you might have got back into scuba and changed your name!
LMenz - I can't make it on Thursday unfortunately. My Mothers' Group is on Thursdays and I'm trying to get to know the other Mums in my neighbourhood. I've been oh so lonely lately and need to make some local friends. No offence to you guys of course! Hope to come along to the next one. Once Mothers' Group is a bit more established I don't mind "wagging" to come and play with the bubhub gals.
All about Me - Went to the GP today to check out my "downstairs" issues and the problem is actually a small cyst. Not related to episiotomy scarring at all. She said she could cut and drain it, but there is a risk of infection, so she suggested just leaving it for a few weeks and it should shrink down by itself. If it doesn't, I can see a gynaecologist to get it removed if I want. Will wait and see how it goes. Also, she said it shouldn't interfere with DTD so I really don't have any excuses now! Still scares me a bit though.
I have a few other general rants to make but I'll probably stick those up on my profile/blog/zoints thingy later tonight. Gotta make that interesting too! Feel free to have a sticky if you like. Haven't figured out how to network people yet... working on it.
Hey, are we still having a live chat one night? I think someone suggested Tuesday night around 7pm, which is almost now! I should be around. Doing an easy dinner tonight that needs minimal preparation... DH can do that! (He's actually a better cook than I am, so i shouldn't say things like that.)

Penny - Has the MCHN said anything about Kaelan's weight? He's probably just a slow gainer....if he's having 6-8 wet nappies and is generally settled then he should be getting enough food. If your really worried call the nurse and ask for him to be weighed....I was doing this every few days when Jack was a newborn as he was slow to gain at the start
Mon - Shame you can't make it on Thursday - I was hoping to meet you! Hopefully next time :fingerscrossed:
Butterflymumma - I'll pop in on the live chat if I get time - Got some work to do tonight. Wil try I'd love to chat
US - Jack's down for the night so will be interesting to see how he sleeps...I fitted an extra feed in today hopefully that helps!

I'm enjoying a nice cold beer while tea is cooking.....
hehehehe we just got back from the supermarket and managed to talk DP into getting some beers to have with dinner.... mmmm there is nothing wrong with a nice cold beer... Cassidy only has her formula feed left for the night so im set... lol
as for live chat... dont know if i will be there but i will try, Cassidy tends to fuss a bit round then
Mon - i have emailed Huggies, had a really long rant about my issues with their nappied and how they are so expensive that youd expect them not to leak for the amount you pay... think i was slightly annoyed when i wrote it... will let u kno if i get a response.. When i told DP he was annoyed and said that i need to follow it up with huggies.
Penny - about the bottle feeding... Cassidy takes between 100-150 mls when i give her a bottle (she gets 2 bottles a day), recently tho she has been crying for more after drinking 150 mls so sometimes i think she wants more... i bought bigger bottles tonight (old ones only took 150ml) and will try 200ml and see how she goes.
anyway will hopefully be able to make it to live chat tonight... if not, ill b back tomorrow!! hehe

Sorry ladies I need to feed my truly sad addiction to watching the Bill Tuesday nights :o (feel free to call me sad names and laugh) so I wont make it to live chat. Also DH is at Rugby training tonight so I have to feed Connor myself and cant palm it off to him tonight.
Can we maybe organise a second night of the week? I would love to join in - I feel a little out of it with all you Eastern states ladies having your meet ups... def coming to a Melb meet when I am over there next (should prob be in the next 6 - 8 or so weeks)

LOL at bacon butty. It is an English expression but I thought the Aussies would know it too!
Ever seen "Keeping up appearances"? the character Onslo is always asking his wife Daisy to make him a bacon butty
Anyway, I had one with loads of butter and it was yum! (no good for the diet, I know  )
Penny - R drinks 180-200mls each feed. However, he's only having 4 feeds some days. I think it's the total amount per day that counts?
Superfrog - I have had the headaches most of my life  Just seems that sometimes they are worse than ever. I have gone back on the pill but it's still early days yet. Normally the pill settles things down though.
Glad to hear you went to the Dr and found out what's going on. I hope it clears up naturally without the need for surgery. Honestly, the things we have to go through to have a baby! BTW, I am having a caesar next time around, as recommended by my OB.
I'll try to get into chat later aswell, depends on whether R is settled though. He has been whingy all day aswell, we haven't been out for 2 days and he gets restless. DH has got work to do on the other computer so hopefully I can use the laptop infront of the TV (like I am now lol).
Better go and organise dinner, pork chops are on the menu tonight.

Penny - I feed Connor (who is now only fed formula, I gave up on expressing last week) about 5 or 6 times a day... Piggy takes 180 - 220mls at a time. Only very rarely for his midday feed he will take less, every other feed he guzzles it down. Im not sure what he weighs though, haven't weighed him since he was 7 weeks old (must take him to be weighed - Im just slack)
Butterflymumma- I posted to Roopee the other day about a similar issue... my cousin's skull did not fuse together properly when she was young and my Auntie chose not to have the operation... my cousin is 26 years old and never ever had any probs. So just suss out what all the risks are and make the decision that you feel is right. I really feel for you. I was freaked when we were sent for xrays on Connors skull but he was lucky and its all ok. I hope it works out for you :hugs:
Bernie and Rochelle - Hi and welcome to the Feb mums group
Juzzy - Can you be the test bunny for another brand of nappies for us? I am a bit over leaking Huggies. I have had it a couple of times where Connor has been covered in wee... but Im still on the Infant ones.
Lauren - sounds like Jack is becoming quite the sleeper hey!! ENJOY!! and have a beer for me. I will have a glass of wine when Dh gets home later on (looking forward to it!)
Nomorescuba - as I posted to Juzzy let me know how you go with the different nappies. Im interested to swap.
Superfrog - Glad the downstairs prob isnt too serious. At least you got it checked and know what it is... you could always tell your DH that it will interfere with DTD
Hels - Bacon for lunch and Pork for tea - My DH would love you. I swear he would eat "pig products" for every meal if he could!

How was the chat last night? Sorry I didn't make it.
Charlie is still evil in the evenings. Has anyone else still got problems with their babies in the evening? Will he grow out of it (he's nearly 11 weeks now) ?
I feed him at about 5, bath him, let him have a play, feed him again and then try and put him down (he's very tired) at about 7pm. But he just screams and screams and screams. I usually give up at about 7.30/7.45 and just get him up so we can eat dinner in peace. Then I feed him again at 8.30 and he goes to sleep (when we do) at 9.30.
I would love to get my evenings back, but it doesn't seem to matter what I do, he just will NOT go to sleep any earlier. It also doesn't seem to matter whether he's had lots or little sleep during the day. Once he goes to bed he's an angel and doesn't get up until 7am (or later, he's not up yet this morning!).
Aaaaaarrrgh. Sorry for the rant, it's just starting to get to me.
How many people got the rotavirus vaccine for their babies? I'm just wondering whether to get it for him or not...

Hello all!!
Well Ive been a bit quiet after a shocking few days so I have a bit to catch up on.
I cracked it at DF on the weekend as he went out fishing for 7 hours and left me to look after Olivia when he knew I wanted time to myself and was only supposed to go out for 2-3. We ended up having a huge fight about it. B!oody men!!
Olivia has been a bit difficult as well. She ended up screaming for about 2-3 hours yesterday and just would not go to sleep even though she was exhausted. I was getting so frustrated and stressed I ended up putting her down in her cot for 10 mins to cry as I couldnt listen to it anymore. And then of course I felt like an awful mother for not comforting her and letting her cry. Im really hoping we have a better day today.
Scuba - Olivia is still pretty grouchy in the evenings most of the time. Quite often she is inconsolable for an hour or so and we have to take her for a walk in the sling or give her a bath to settle her. She is almost 10 weeks now.... She keeps changing her routine, and will go to bed anywhere from 630 to 9pm (last night).
Welcome Bernie and Rochelle! Tell us a bit about yourselves - where do you live? What sort of birth did you have? BF/FF? How are you finding it being a mum?
Olivia is getting grizzly - will post more later!!

juzzy How many people got the rotavirus vaccine for their babies? I'm just wondering whether to get it for him or not...
Yep we did! Expensive but I thought it was worth it as most kids under 1 need hospitalisation if they catch the virus
Jack's pretty good in the evening...goes to bed without a peep but he still wakes for a feed usually around 4am but lately it's been 2am.
Maybe put charlie down at 6.30 instead of 7? He could be a bit overtired by 7.....not sure what else to try. Cut down on his playtime at night?
Shelby - :hugs: Bl**dy men is right!! Hope you do have a better day today. Don't feel bad for letting Olivia cry a bit.....sometimes it's needed for our own sanity
Thanks to Butterflymumma for organising the chat last night. Only wish I could have stayed around longer. Hope it finished up well :)

ahh, shes asleep. :fingerscrossed: she stays that way.
juzzy - Thats such a pain about the nappies leak.....I have had mornings where Olivia has leaked through 3-4 nappies also and then is fine at other times....Sounds like she is big enough for crawlers so maybe you got a dud batch. Good for you for writing the email - let us know how you go. Hopefully you will get some freebies!
Lauren - I cant believe Jack slept for 3 hours - wow! Whats your secret? Olivia hasnt slept for more than 40mins at a time since she was about 3-4 weeks old. My stepmum keeps implying theres something wrong with her as my little brother (whos now 5) used to sleep for 4 hours straight during the day and she had time to read books and blah blah blah. I think that was because a) she used to let him cry himself to sleep, so he would be exhausted and b) he was FF.
mumslilspunks - sorry to hear you and your DH are not getting on. are things any better? Its awful when you are not getting on....as if this parenting thing isnt hard enough!
tegan - I was so sad to read your post. its awful that you and tan are going through similar things with your bubs.....I cant imagine how stressful that is. I hope you know you are an amazing mother and lily is so lucky to have you - you did nothing wrong during your pregnancy and she is just so lucky to have a mum who loves her so much. I really hope that it resolves itself on its own.
Hels - sorry to hear you are having lots of headaches. I am a migraine sufferer too and get lots of little headaches in between migraines - its awful. If they are really bad you can get preventers for migraines...I had a bad migraine a couple of weeks ago and DF had to stay home to look after Olivia, its not pleasant! Hope they get a bit better for you!
penny - Im glad my bub wasnt the only ratbag at mothers group, its like they just know its a bad time to muck up!! Did you manage to talk to anyone? I also have a few worries about Olivias weight as she just doesnt seem to be as big as everyone else. She is about 5.4kg now but was 4.2kg at birth, so has put on about 1.2 kg in 10 weeks. I am trying to focus on the fact that she is pooing and weeing lots, is reasonably happy most of the time and is bright and alert and responsive.
I missed the chat last night, so I would also be up for doing it another nighjt. Any takers?

We have had arsenic hour in the evenings since he was approx 3 weeks old. He's now nearly 14 weeks and it is gradually passing (so hang in there). Some days he can be feral at night and others he is an angel. Like last night, he slept in his swing from 8pm until we woke him at around 10.30pm. Then after his feed he slept until 8am today. I wish it could always be like this!
My doctor didn't mention the rotavirus to me, maybe I will ask the MHN about it instead.
Thanks for the live chat last night (to those who made it). We will have to do it again.
We have Mother's Group again today. Hopefully I won't feel like such a dag this time. I wish I could turn up with a bugaboo pram and driving a mercedes lol.

No secret! It's the first time he's done it in weeks too. Mostly he will only go 40-50 minutes as well.....I've tried everything to extend his sleep. Rarely I can re-settle him after 40 minutes but only if he's exhausted.
Thanks heaven's he's a good night sleeper otherwise I'd be going bonkers

(LONG POST)
Good Morning all:wave:
On the nappy situation i have tried
babylove - leaked and left little gel balls all over his groin on occassions
Aldi (mammamia) - small brand didn't leak and would last overnight also very economical
Huggies - Newborn size had a batch that leaked but usually no probs.
Snugglers - Can buy a box of 132 smalls which fit up to eight kilos for $30 at big W. I've had some day time leakage but usually no night time leakage
Sometimes I think he pees too fast and thats why it leaks when i've only just put it on. i could be really wrong but its a theory! As you can see i've tried a few:laughing:
About us We live in Toowoomba which is about one and a half hours west of Brisbane. I'm married and Harrison is our one and only (at this stage). We are going to try for number two when he is around six months old. I know I must be mad.:D
Harrison is bottle fed and has been since around six weeks. He usually has 180mls each feed and has around six feeds a day. When he was last weighed two weeks ago he was 5.6kg (7 wks old)
I got him the rotar virus injec. Its around $100 a shot:eek: and you get three over three months. You can claim some of the cost back through your private health in some cases.
Gotta go someone wants some attention

Teegan- there is nothing you could have done to prevent lilly's head not fusing properly. And it has nothing to do with your labour either hun. Cody spent literally no time in the birth canal-she flew out, in champagne cork style, after one half hearted push and her plates arn'e alligning properly either. I know how you feel, feling guilty but please dont- nothing could have caused it, it just happens and after a talk to my GP on Monday ( i had to go back) he said its actually very very common and the surgery is almost routine to the pediatric Neurosurgeons.
I had a great nite sleep last night-no wake ups at all and she went thru from 9.30 til i woke her at 9 this morning yay!
O k so this morning my kids were awfully quiet while i was feeding Cody and i was thinking this is unuasual and it usually spells trouble. Anyway... i walk out to the toy room and here they are with the screw driver at the Tv coz it wouldn't work. They were unscrewing it and "trying to find where to change the batteries". Oh my.......i walked over, said tv's dont have batteries people.....pluged it in to the wall and walked out to the sounds of this."Mum should have been a boy...she can fix everything!.

well havent had any nappy issues since yesterdays little drama.... but i am still going to try some other nappies if i can, there has got to be a cheaper alternative!!
Cassidy slept from 10.30 last night until 6am this morning and then again from 6.30 til 10am... i had a nice sleep in and feel heaps better for it!
as for the rotorvirus vaccine, i havent got it for cassidy but i have been thinking that i should get it.
i guess to an extent we have an arsenic hour in the evenings as well. Cassidy is almost 11 weeks old and for almost 2 hours in the evening she can be a real pain. But it has been slowly getting better.
in regards to TTCing again, i am going to wait until Cassi is about 9-10 months old before we try again, so thats about nov/dec this year. Mainly because i need to lose weight first.
(DP is still pushing the issue about getting a HPT, we are going to get lunch soon, so i will duck into the chemist while im out)
live chat good last night, maybe we can do it again soon?
Anyway, time for lunch...

Juzzy - I have been having nappy issues with Liam. He is in Huggies Infants and lately they will leak so I have to change his outfit sometimes each nappy change. He definitely needs an outfit change overnight.......I always change him when he wakes and before putting down to sleep. Let me know how you go trialing different nappies :)
Squiggles - I read that you are no longer expressing & just feeding Charlie formula? Liam is pretty much the same though I am still giving him one breast feed per day from expressed milk. Do you feel better for giving expressing away or just didn't see the point anymore?
Liam is asleep and has been for 4 hours now....the inlaws visited and he was still asleep and didn't wake! I think I will wake him for a feed.....don't want him awake too much tonight :)
Has everyone been cutting their bubs finger nails? I use a small nail file to file them down instead of cutting them but Liam still scratches his face. I don't like using the nail clippers. Any other suggestions?

My limited experience with nappies is as follows...
Huggies Newborn - great
Cosift Newborn - Absolute cr@p.. pretty much all of them leaked (no wonder they're getting rid of them).
Aldi Newborn - Many have leaked... not as bad a Cosifit though
Huggies Infant - Good, rare leakage
Pampers (bought in the UK) - excellent, no leaks, though not much 'give' in the waist.
I'm yet to try Huggies Crawler and BabyLove Crawler (I have packs of both here and K will probably be in them from tomorrow onwards)... and I have samples of the Safeway brand nappies.
Roopee - Congrats on the avatar love... it looks fab !!

Well Gymbaroo didn't work out as I had a very spewwy baby just beforehand so I decided to give it a miss as that isn't the way to make new friends! :barf: Oh well - next time! This reflux thing is just awful. Im sure it's getting worse - i read that it peaks at 4 months. I can't stand seeing Eloise wriggling about in pain *sigh*. The MCHN told me to take her off zantac and give her a half teaspoon of cornflour. Sounds absolutely ridiculous to me... not sure what to do
Sorry, too lazy to even attempt PMs today, so i'll just waffle on a bit!
Slings/baby carriers - yep, i have a Hug A Bub- its great but needs a bit of practice. We had a few laughs trying to get it tied and then get Eloise into it - you'll definitely need someone else around for the first few times, lol! Miss Eloise hated it at first but them went to sleep after about two minutes and stayed that way for two hours! So, all good really. Its a fab carrier for round the house - nice and comfy- but you could also walk about in it for a while I reckon. I also have the Ergo carrier for when she's a bit bigger (like a baby bjorn but heaps better for your back and can be worn front, hip, back holds). Can you tell my child hates the pusher?!
Avatars - yours all look great. Why can i not do mine? Ive just spent nearly an hour following the instructions but it still doesn't work. Oh and as for those Zoints WTF??!! I'm such a loser!
Nappies - Go Aldi!! Huggies nappies leaked for me too - just goes to show you don't always get what you pay for IMHO.
Well, hope everyones having a great, problem-free day

As for the dress code tomorrow, i will be in jeans as well as i dont fit into anything else at the moment either... bit sad really... and i will also be bringing my pram as i havent received my sling yet (found one on ebay..)
besides everyone has a different definition as to what "smart casual" is anyway....
about finger nails i have been using a small set of clippers on Cassidys nails. Havent had an issue yet and i am finding the best time to do it is when she is feeding as she is pretty oblivious to what is going on.

The restaurant is expensive but the cafe menu looks reasonable. I think a nice lunch and drink (or two!) will be about $15-$20. I will take the pram and they have reserved the couch area for us to give more room.

Interesting development tonight...
Master K has been completely feral again... however, I have now decided that the poor little poppet has progressed from pre-teething to just teething... and he is only 13 weeks old !!!
There is a white little mark on his gum (bottom, front left) and in that same spot, there is a hard lump under it. It doesn't yet feel like the texture of a tooth so it obviously hasn't cut through... however, it can't be far off.
He has been dribbling badly lately and his cheeks have been very rosey red and as I said, his behaviour has been completely feral... so I think it's definately happening now.
My little boy is growing up !!!

Penny - Connor has had really red cheeks lately and dribbling non stop and has his fist in his mouth all day... luckily he has been pretty chilled out still... have I got the feral behaviour to come?
Jojomart - I had pretty much lost all of my milk anyway, I was only getting 20mls a day and that was while taking motillium so I just didn't see the point in all that stuffing around for such a tiny amount. Connor seems to be ok so I am ok too ( a bit sad though but I will get over it)

Squiggles - Prepare yourself for the feral child... it's so much fun... NOT !! I haven't been able to put K down all day (hence minimal posts here and completely messy house !!). Everytime I tried to put him in his gym tunnel, swing or bouncer... he would scream... and I'm talking the whole "my mummy is trying to kill me" type scream... very, very full on. Glad I have no neighbours at the moment !! :) Poor little poppet... I feel sorry for him.
Earlier this evening, I put some Bonjela on his gums.. next time I do this, I must remember to video it. His horrified face expression would surely win me money on the Home Video Show :) So funny !!!
And fist in the mouth... I think I'm going to have to surgically remove K's fist from his mouth *LOL* He does look so cute when he does it though... especially when it is accompanied by loud slurping/sucking noises.

Wow, you get busy for a few days and you have to catch up on 11 pages… serves myself right L so bare with me here…
Penny – On oily hair – mine has been oily as well (and l haven’t dtd yet), so l am guessing it is just hormones changing again… Congrats on the new job (new old job???)… whatever sounds like it is going to be much more fun! That 3D image blows my mind a little (a bit spooky, good likeness though – that is NOT to say Kaelan is spooky in any way… you know l think he is absolutely gorgeous). I can’t believe Kaelan has his first tooth coming through, l am so excited for you… and soooooooo glad your not breastfeeding – errrggh l am dreading that day, and Coen can’t seem to get enough of putting things in his mouth so l am wondering if his day is coming soon…
I hope K settled for you eventually…
Juzzy - Personal opinion here only -- Baby bjorn puts a lot of pressure on your shoulders and the kids can only be in it for a limited time, l wouldn’t personally recommend it… I have tried one… and l have used the Ergo (only a bit cheaper than the BB at about $150) and the ergo is far better, kids can be In the ergo for years…
On the nappies, l had the same thing happen with Coen when he was in Newborn, l complained to Huggies and they sent me some free ones; make sure you do the waiste up really tight, there must not be any gap where the sides meet, it might mean that the tabs meet up or even overlap in the middle…
Roopee - The Ergo is really good for your back (l have a bad back and it has never hurt me and Coen is a chubba chump – 6kg), the ergo feels just like a backpack, you wear the baby in front whilst they are small and when they grow more you can put them on your back… (loved the story about you being a mrfixit )
Sharon (Ziggy) – cute photo’s
Squiggles - if you could be bothered this (Telstra disconnection) is the kind of story ACA love, you should send it through as a possible story idea via their website
Harrisonsmum – G’day & welcome
Shajake - Coen was just under 6kg at 8 ˝ weeks, he eats every 3 hours (breastfed) for anywhere from 25-45 minutes… he is a piggy so don’t compare your boys to him, he is above average in the weight department…
Butterflymama – hugs to you and Roopee, l will keep you and your bubs in my thoughts and hoping that all is fixed by your next Paed. Appt.
Hels – Could the headaches have something to do with the shifting in the hormones that l think our bodies are going through right now??? When l read Penny’s post about the oily hair l was amazed b/c l have exactly the same thing, and my skin has broken out as well – both of which happened at the beginning of my pregnancy… which leads me to believe in the hormone theory…
Rochelle – welcome
Nomorescuba – Coen got the rotavirus vaccine just this week - $270 it will set you back, but l think it is well worth it… Could Charlie have lower wind??? One of the theories for the evening grizzlies is lower wind; Coen gets it but its at 5am unfortunately – its like clockwork… nothing we have been able to do has stopped it, including infants friend, burping, massaging and more
Shelby – Coen also doesn’t sleep for longer than 40 minutes at a time during the day (one sleep cycle)
Melbournemeet – The Point said they regularly have mothers groups gather there, l mentioned there could be as many as 9 prams and they said that would be fine… Jeans will be fine also… lots of people go for a walk and then drop in to the Point so its not too fussy… I will be in jeans too l imagine! Can't wait to see whoever turns up...

Good Morning / Night ... whatever
Wow, I have missed so much, almost impossible to catch up on... someone needs to do a summaray post at the end of every day or two!!!:D
We had a great trip to Hawaii (I want to go back already) and have settled back into daily life. Z travelled really well!! He is 6.6kgs (at 12 weeks) and 64cm long (yep a giant)!! Still BF but will probably begin to ween in the next month or so (I am terrified of having teeth anywhere near my b00bs)!
Scuba Z is a monster in the evening also, esp. if he hasn't slept much during the day (which he rarely does)... I wish I could say it ends but I'm not complaining... he has an 8 hour sleep every night!!!
Agreed that Rotovirus was very expensive but worth it, although I was told that from July it is free for babies, so may be worth hanging off if you haven't done it yet. Z had his rotovirus ... can't believe we are only 3 weeks away from round 2 of injections.
I will try to keep up a little more, but hope that everyone is doing well.
All the best
Sarah

Awwww..... training wheels !!!! So cute !! I can't wait until I can start buying things like bikes for K :)
Sandy - I'm always very impressed when you write your big replies... you obviously take a lot of time to do it and you still manage to respond to most things over a period of several days. You have a telent, my dear !! :)
Mon - I look forward to the next chat too... that was really good.
Sassi - Glad you had a great time on your holiday to Hawaii and that Z travelled well !! As you probably know, we went to the UK the same time that you went away... and Kaelan travelled really well too. It was definately the right age to take the baby overseas.
Whilst travelling, I saw a lot of people with the McClarens strollers and I remember that you'd bought one... how did you go with it??? We never took a stroller with us (just used a baby carrier)... but it would have been nice to be able to put K down every now and then (especially when eating in restaurants).
As for me, well AF didn't arrive yesterday as I thought it would so this morning I did at HPT.... I'm happy to report that it was a :bfn: (thank the lord !!). My cycle is probably out of whack with the international travelling... not too mention that I've only had two AF's since having K, so I'm not really sure what it is 'normal' for me yet. Anyways, that's one less stress to worry about :)
I never thought I would see the day where I would be happy to be NOT pregnant.
Juzzy - How did you go with your HPT?

What does it mean when people talk about "one sleep cycle"?
"A sequence of sleep stages that usually begins with a period of about 80 minutes of NREM sleep followed by about 10 minutes of REM sleep. This cycle of approximately 90 minutes is repeated four to six times each night. If the sequence is interrupted (for example, by external noise or a sleep disorder), the quality of sleep can suffer"
I know the above says 80 minutes but the advice l have had is its about 40 minutes for a bub... It sux, 40 minutes isn't quite enough time to do anything much...
Agreed that Rotovirus was very expensive but worth it, although I was told that from July it is free for babies, so may be worth hanging off if you haven't done it yet. Z had his rotovirus ... can't believe we are only 3 weeks away from round 2 of injections.
Unfortunately the Rotavirus will only be free for bubs born after May (that sux big time) but check with your mchn to make sure...

Sorry for the double post but Shelby and l must have posted together.
Firstly, even if your dad was right the tone of his e-mail is a bit offensive... doesn't he realise that mothers knows best, and even if she doesn't there are ways to inform her without making her feel like an absolute idiot... and in this case l think your dad is wrong, its an interesting article but it only deals with allergies what about all the other reason why we are advised not to introduce solids before 6 months, like digestive issues... here is an excerpt l found on just that topic...
"Don’t be tempted to start (solids) too early
Introducing solids too early can be a burden to an underdeveloped digestive system (most babies’ digestive systems remain inadequate up to about 6 months of age), as well as impairing maternal milk supply. Other concerns include increasing the risk of food allergies and exposure to bugs that may lead to diarrhoea and other gastric problems. Most parents soon realise how convenient milk feeding is (especially if it is your second time around). The tendency to want to delay introducing solids creeps into the minds of many of us, however…
Don’t wait too long
According to research, your baby will not benefit from having solids before 6 months. However, if you leave the introduction of solids too late, you risk undermining your baby’s nutritional status. Iron and zinc levels, in particular, decrease in breast milk as your baby’s demand increases. Other problems include immune challenges and reduced motor development, for example, the skill of chewing."
Here's a bit more -
Delaying solids gives baby greater protection from illness.
Delaying solids gives baby's digestive system time to mature.
Delaying solids decreases the risk of food allergies. (obviously this is a point of contention)
Delaying solids helps to protect baby from iron-deficiency anemia.
Delaying solids helps to protect baby from future obesity.
Delaying solids helps mom to maintain her milk supply.
Delaying solids helps to space babies.
Delaying solids makes starting solids easier.
I hope that helps...

Typing one handed, so concise reply..
Read in my "bible" lastnight that most babies start solids between 4-6 months. There is a reflex that babies must overcome before they can start solids (the reflex to push their tongue out when something goes in their mouth). They seemed to suggest that it can be ok to start at four months IF the baby is physically able to tolerate the process but it is an individual thing. If there is a history of allergies in the family though, then the process should not start til six months.
My MCHN said to wait til six months old if possible, so this is what I'm planning to do
I'll have to get my book out later and have a look... currently it is on my bedside table and DF is still asleep in our room.
Shelby - You do whats right for you... if you want to wait til six months, then your dad will just have to build a bridge and get over it :).

Re solids - I have already given R a little taste of yogurt and choccie mousse. He has taken it well off the spoon and loved the yogurt. I also put a cheesy rice cracker on his lips once and you should have seen his face! (wasn't impressed)
We are not ready to start proper solids yet but when the time is right I will introduce some farex at night. I am going to hold off for as long as possible, apparently the poos go really horrible
I had better go and get ready for our meet or we will be late. Shame about the weather today, but I'm looking forward to it anyway :)

Hi girls,
Hels & Icugal - I'll probably wait to start solids when Liam turns 6 months. He has silent reflux and has actually started vomiting a bit lately too so I don't want to push it too soon. As for the teething thing.....is shoving the fist in the mouth and looking like he's in discomfort a sign of teething? Surely Liam couldn't be teething yet he's not even 3 months!
Oily hair........I always was prone to this but I have noticed that when I was pregnant it went dryer and now it's gone back to oily as well as my skin too.
Shelby - Gosh your Dad should really mind his own business.......it's fine for parents to give advice but it sounds like he's trying to force you into feeding solids too early. Just ignore him.
Sassi - I'm so envious.......I love Hawaii and would love to go back! Lucky you!
Thought I'd send a quick reply before getting ready for today's Melb meet. I'm getting Liam weight at 11:30 but hope to get there by 12:30

Penny, is Kaelan waking up more at night with the teething?
K has only just started sleeping through the night since coming back from the UK (it took him over a week to re-adjust)... and has slept right through the past couple of nights (the last few hours of his sleep is always restless though... usually enough to wake me up for the day). so :fingerscrossed: that he doesn't start waking up frequently again... or if he does, do it on a night when I'm at work, and DF has to deal with it !!! :D
After scrouring through my wardrobe, I have come to the realisation that I have no 'nice tops' to wear to the meet today (nothing fits me)... so I'm afraid it's a t-shirt and grandma cardigan for me.
Sorry if I'll be letting down the team dress-wise... I'm going to have to slum it today.
Wish I could lose weight.. nothing seems to be working at the moment :gloomy:

i mite have to skip the meet today... DP has gone to work but has taken my keys to my other car so i cant move it to get to the bmw, so basically my car is trapped and i am stuck at home... not impressed considering i asked him for ages to either move the car or leave me the keys so i could move it (hes been driving it every now and again, thats why he has the keys).
Hope everyone has a blast just the same... should be good, shame about the weather today tho, its so cold outside!!
Penny - i know what u mean about clothes and losing weight... ive lost 3 kilos in 2 weeks (i really need to lose about 30 kilos... lol) but i am finding it hard to fit into an of my clothes and no matter what i wear i still look ****....
as for giving solids, i think i am going to wait until 6 months but mite do what hels has been doing and give little tastes every now and again.

On weight loss - yeah l seem to have stalled as well - l have 3 kg to go and they just don't seem to be budging - in all honesty l have only really started doing any sort of excercise in the last week - but still a week has gone by and nothing... and l have even tried to be more conscious about what l am eating... very frustrating.... those of you doing the 10,000 step challenge with me, how are you going? I am at 33,00 for Mon-Wed, went for a big walk on Tuesday but didn't have much time on Wednesday so it all evened out...
I have set myself a goal to get back to prepregnancy weight in 10 weeks (that was a week ago, so l have 8 1/2 to go)...
Juzzy - what a shame you won't be able to make it - we will miss you. Penny - who cares what you wear, to be honest l make a particular effort to look as good as l can at the moment (cos l feel pretty sh!t about my loss of body shape) but the first thing on my mind is comfort... and l am not going to be cold for the sake of fashion!!! clothing and weightloss - I have 2 outfits for "leaving the house" sort of like "other people will see me outfits" they are 1 pair of black cargos (pretty tight on the hips and bum) with a white v neck fitted top and a white zip up long sleeve top over the top warn with sneakers. Second is a pair of jeans that I had to buy off ebay because I cant fit into any of my others worn with a blue and white striped long sleeve top and sneakers - neither of these outfits are nice at all but since I still have a huge 10kgs left to get back to my pre pregnancy weight they will just have to do. I normally only go out on the weekends with DH anyway so I have 1 outfit for each day and If I go out during the week its only to the shops so no need to get dressed up IYKWIM. At home I dress exclusively in trackies and Tshirts. I have so many nice clothes but my big fat new body doesn't seem to be able to squeeze into anything... so I have decided to try the Tony Ferguson diet - Ive ordered a months worth of stuff, just waiting for it to be posted out and then I will start and see hoe I go :fingerscrossed:
Still grumpy today - Telstra still have not bothered to send their tech out to fix our phone line. 8 days now:banghead: harleyq - the ACA thing had crossed my mind but I don't want to be on the TV!! And Dh would prob kill me, he hates shows like that.

It took me an hour and a half to get home too (It was only 40 mins on the way in). I didn't get up to 100 k's at all on the Monash :banghead: And I was really nervous about going through the tunnel after that nasty accident a while back. And would you believe it, the traffic was grid locked and I was stopped for a while right at the scene of the crash, it was so eerie and horrible, I just wanted to get out of there.
Anyway, on a good note, R slept all the way home and it was a nice day so thanks to all those who came.

I'm really wishing I had have come along to the meet now. The healthcare nurse that runs our mothers' group irritates me more every time I see her. Can't wait until we ditch her and organise meeting up without her.
And her advice is so ridiculous sometimes. Like today, she was saying that some babies get irritated skin when you dry them with a towel too much, and suggested putting some methylated spirits into the bath water as the water will evaporate faster from their skin when drying.

:D Hey gals,
Thanks so much for the chat on Tuesday night, I had so much fun, it was just great to talk to you all! We should definitley do it again, I would be more inclined to do it only a couple of times a week maximum because i was like a zombie the next day not getting my sleep!
its a bit belated, but welcome to the new feb mummas, great to have you on board, hope you enjoy this thread -these ladies are the best in bub hub!
Thanks so much everyone for your support and warm words in regards to Lillyana's head concerns, i'm trying to stay really positive about it all now as i feel i have to be strong for Lils.
Shelby- Im sorry to hear your partner went out fishing and you didnt get the time to yourself! We definitley need that sometimes thats for sure! Leaving Olivia to cry for 10 minutes IMO is not a bad thing, sometimes when you've done everything else, this is the best thing to do as a stressed mother = stressed baby. You are a wonderful mother!!!!
Tanya- Thanks for the reassurance, How are things your end? any developments? I really hope cody will be okay!!! For Lilly we are waiting to see if further results confirm what they think and that is that her head is fusing together to early, if it is, theres no option but surgery...I really hope the docs say they made a mistake :fingerscrossed:
Icugal- Wow, cant believe Kaelan is teething already!! Im sorry to hear he's been unhappy with it all!! Hope it gets better soon!!
Squiggles- I take my hat off to you for expressing for so long and really giving it your best! i know what you're going through because ive been expressing too and its darn hard work! You're a fantastic mum for doing that for Connor, and dont forget all the reaallllyy good milk was in your colostrum anyway! You did the right thing- good on you!
Sassi- Welcome back!!! Glad to hear your Hawaii trip was great! Zane sounds like he's doing really well!!
Re: Solids- I will be stretching Lils as close to the 6 month mark as i can. If she starts showing earlier signs of wanting solids, i might occasionally offer her something, but only if she really looks like she wants/needs it. I just tend to follow the books. But having said that my mum was feeding us solids from about 4 months (like most back in the day) and we all ended up ok  so each to their own, follow your instincts and you'll be great
REMEMBER: If you do ANYTHING for your child...as long as its out of love and what you think to be the best thing for your child, then you've made the Right decision...It cant get any better than that! Trust yourself!
Re: Diets and Exercise- I am trying to lose my pregnancy weight, but not sure what type of diet would be best for me as im still breastfeeding. I guess at the moment, im just buying and cooking things that are low fat. As far as exercise goes well I try to walk, but feel really uncomfortable because people in my town think its customary to gork at you when they go past, and most are pretty sleazy looking, so i avoid it if i can. Im thinking of getting a walking machine so i can exercise in the comfort and privacy of my own home...preferably infront of the telly or with music blaring lol
Re: Nappies- Well my choice is definitley baby love, ive tried Huggies and find that they have a terrible smell when bubs even does just one wee. They didnt really leak all that bad, but that smell just got to me. I tried some enviromental ones and they were really bad as they defnitley leaked. Snugglers are ok but just find it hard to get Lilly's size so Babylove it is. They are great ive found that i can put her in a nappy at 7pm and it lasts until 7.30 the next morning. The only time her nappy leaks is when she poos and then wee's when her nappy is reeeaaallyy full.
LOl sorry this has been so long! besides all that We are well, going to a reunion tommorrow for the group i was in during my pregnancy, it will be good to see my midwives again.
Hope the Melb meet went well!! Cant wait for the Brissie one!!

Like today, she was saying that some babies get irritated skin when you dry them with a towel too much, and suggested putting some methylated spirits into the bath water as the water will evaporate faster from their skin when drying.
WTF???!!!! Is she on crack??
Squiggles - Would love to meet you and Connor....we should try and organise another rmeet for that day. Where about's in Melbourne are you staying?
I will be in the CBD - so if anyone is keen to pop by?? I will have a car but no car seat so -its pretty pointless really.
I decided to join the SA mums thread today as I was feeling a little jelous of all the meet ups going on. So hopefully I can meet some bubhubbers close by(well closer than flying somewhere)
On the upside i booked our flights to Hamilton Island for my sisters wedding in November, now just have to do the accommodation and we are good to go!!
Juz, I just wanted to mention how child friendly Hamilton island is... we went out on the first night to a place called Romanos which is a pretty nice place and we were so surprised at how many other little bubs were there in their prams. And you see kids and babies everywhere - you can pretty much take babies in every restaurant there and not be worried about being embarassed if they scream - which makes a nice change!
Telstra decided to fix the line at 5pm... and I tried to use the phone about half an hour ago and there is a massive crackling noise...can barely hear the dial tone... I am so F**ked off with Telstra!! Sorry I know I must be boring you all with my whinging.
Profiles... I can't seem to figure out how to make mine look all spesh and pretty and I cant add a photo album - I am technically challenged or a complete dumbass.

Squiggles - We were talking today about having a Melb meet to coincide with when you come down, so we'll get something organised for in the city. Maybe at Crown Casino for lunch? what does everyone else think?
Penny - Let us know when you have posted the photos from today, thanks.
Going to try and get an early night (well, if you call 10.20pm early lol).
R is going to bed in a sleeping bag tonight, first time he will be unwrapped, wish us luck :fingerscrossed:

I think I'll post the photos tomorrow...sorry !! I'm so tired right now I could almost fall asleep typing (was about to go to bed before, but my bestie rang me and I've just spent the last hour talking to her).
Considering that I'm normally a night person, it's amazing that I could feel this tired so early in the night.
I'll see you all in the morning (probably by 6am if you go by ever other morning recently... thankyou Kaelan !!).

Well my little man had a bit of an unsettled night. Woke a few times and eventually had a feed at 5.30am, it hasn't been that eary for ages. Thankfully he went back to sleep after.
We are going to Target and baby bunting, I can feel a spending spree coming on lol. I want to get one of those pram/bouncer/carseat play mobiles that I saw yesterday.
Oh, and the sleeping bag went ok, will persevere with it.

Penny - Love the photos! Thanks for taking them yesterday.
Liam was unsettled last night.......probably just overtired....he's definitely a baby who needs his sleep!
LMenz - I'm so tired today as Liam woke at 4am for a feed and I'd been up until 1am last night so only 3 hours sleep before this feed then he took a while to settle back to sleep
Hels - have fun shopping today. I am hopefully doing some shopping on the weekend for Liam. Today is a 'house work' day or t.v. watching day :)
Wrapping bub - Liam hasn't been wrapped for a while now.......just because we were **** at wrapping him and he always managed to get out of the wrap anyway. Another time he was overheating and sweating so I've stopped doing it and it's been fine. Good luck with the sleeping bag......I'm going to get one for Liam too.

Hi
The pics of the meet yesterday are great. The bubs are all very cute!
Everything is going well here apart from super super busy- you'd expect that though with 4 of the little monkeys!
Cody has to go for some xrays in 4 weeks to see what her skull is doing so:fingerscrossed: we get the all clear.
I had a meet yesterday too with some of the Newcastle mums. It was great..nice to meet some new people! When we got home i tried to put Bay to bed for her afternoon nap and she was crying "no mumma-back to pub pleeeeeeeaaaaaasssssseee mummy"
Think we might have to limit our pub visits in future:o
Hope everyone is well!

Hels - hope you have fun spending. I'm going on a spree tomorrow to good old Target too and Best and Less.
Roopee - lol at Bay crying for the pub. At least you know how to keep her amused in future
LMenz - Hope he settles for you better tonight. If its any consolation Eloise woke at 1, 3 and 6  Thank God I don't have to leave my bed or wake up much to see to her..
Harrison's mum- hope the snuffles clear up. How did you work out the Zoints thing? I'm so clueless!
I've just had treadmill delivered (bought on ebay). If I can actually put Eloise down for more than ten minutes I might be able to start losing a bit of weight and getting fit again

Wow! That's exciting! I've been trying to get back to the gym, but the problem I've found is that i can no longer run - not because i'm too unfit, or even because my ligaments are still dodgy after pregnancy, but because my BOOBS hurt! How does everyone else deal with this? I have a good sports bra, but these b/f boobs just don't seem happy jogging up and down  . It's really annoying as jogging is such a great way to get fit. Instead i'm having to go on the bike and rower. Even the cross trainer hurts quite a lot...

Nomorescuba - I didnt even think of the boob issue! Guess I'll be doubling up on sports bras! Oh, and walking instead of jogging which means I'll continue to be unfit and flabby :)
Juzzy - ours was $600 cos hubby wanted a new one (I'd have been happy with a 2nd hand one). I heard that KMart were selling one half price at $400 which sounds like a good deal. I'm pretty pleased with ours simply because it has speakers so i can listen to music and Eloise at the same time!

Sandy - Was great meeting up this morning. Next time coffee is on me! Oh, and I should have taken some photos... I had my camera in my bag and completely forgot. Next time for sure :)
Went shopping this morning as well, and FINALLY managed to find a pair of pants that fit. Woo Hoo! And they were 25% off... even better! I wish I knew if I was going to lose more of this squishy stomach or if I should get used to my new body shape. I don't want to buy heaps of clothes if they won't fit in two months time.
Also bought a pair of shoes today, which is a miracle in itself as I have strange shaped feet. First pair I tried on too! Then I couldn't leave without buying something for Liam, so he has two new sleep suits with plenty of room to grow into. I'm feeling pretty good today!
Bewitched (the TV series) is on in the background at the moment. Since when did they have two kids? I only remember Tabitha, and she looks about eight years old in this episode!

Juzzy & purplebird - I have a treadmill that I bought from Sportsmart. It cost around $1,000 which is a bit pricey so glad to hear you can get them cheaper through Ebay. Mine's a Healthstream Hurricane and it's been very good so far. I haven't used it for ages though but hope to get back into it soon. It's finding the time when bubs is asleep!
Superfrog - glad you had fun buying clothes & shoes. Yeah, with Bewitched I only remember Tabitha......I don't remember there being another kid!
Well Liam's asleep now but I have to phone a friend so can't get on treadmill this avo........excuses excuses!

oooh... if so many of us have treadmills, then I can feel a bit of motivational group walking challenge coming on... what do you think??
I bought mine from Rebel Sport about 4 years ago and it cost me about $1500. I actually got a bargain because the original treadie that I paid for sold out before they could deliver it, so they upgraded me to the next (and much improved) model for no extra cost... so I ended up with a $2000 treadmill for $1500.
At the moment though, it's just a very expensive dust collector (along with my eliptical cross trainer and stepper *LOL*).
I had a lovely day today.. I went and had lunch with two of the girls from my 'real' mothers group (who knew that Craigieburn actually had a cafe?? :) ). They are great girls and would make great Bubhubbers !! *LOL* They are in the same boat as me in that we all moved into the Delfin estate without knowing anybody else in Craigieburn... so we're all really excited that we finally have friends in our new local area (and we're alll new mums too, which is great !!).
In other developments, Kaelan laughed properly for the first time yesterday evening.. and then he did it before as well... it was so adorable !! It was Elmo that got him laughing... so looks as though K likes Elmo... which is a good thing considering how much Elmo stuff we have in this house.

Ok mummas I need some advice...
My dilemma is this... As I have mentioned I need to be in Melb on the 25th for work and for an Industry function at which my MIL is receiving a lifetime achievement award (she doesn't know about it), so Me and DH will go along with BIL,SIL and FIL to see her get it. The thing is I can't take Connor to the function but I dont want to leave him. BIL and SIL have a 6 yr old and a 4 yr old and they are going to get a professional babysitter from an agency to look after them in the hotel for the night. Im not keen to leave Connor with a stranger no matter what her quals are! So my options are this - not go to the function and stay in the hotel and look after Connor and the 2 girls for BIL and SIL... or... not go to Melb at all and stay home while DH goes with the rest of them... or... leave Connor with my mum and Dad overnight for the first time. DH thinks it would be best to leave Connor at mum and Dads - then we can have some time to ourselves as well - like a mini holiday just the two of us again (well with BIL and SIL too ) Im just not sure that I am ready to leave him overnight yet but I know he will be ok there Im just not feeling like I want to leave him yet. I am thinking I will just go and stay in the hotel and be the babysitter for the night. What do you all think... what should I do?

Well personally if it was me, I would jump at the chance to let my parents mind my youngest now. With 3 littlies its like impossible to find any couple time whatsoever.
It is really you rown personal choice and what you are most comfortable with. Do not do anything you will not be comfortable with, babies can pick up on this.
As for me, not alot happening here, im glad to hear about everyone else though! I just feel no need to chat about anything as it is all same ol same ol. Caitlinn is doing fab, growing well, smiling, cooing, playing with her hands, eating her hands and enjoying her tummy time heaps.
As for the meet, it was just a very depressing day for me. THe weather was just absoltely horrible and both me and DP were feeling very meh.

Is the function near the hotel? If so you could always pop in a couple of times during the evening and make sure the babysitting is going well. Not sure what else to suggest. I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable leaving Liam for a whole night either... but I have separation issues!
Not much happening here with us either. I was trying to add a blog entry each day to my profile but I don't have anything interesting to say that I haven't mentioned here already for today. Might be inspired a bit later tonight.

Treadmill - I bought one from Big W for about $200, it is not automatic but it does the job. I didn't want to spend alot on one, especially as it's now gathering dust out in the shed  KMart and Target sell them too.
I have an exercise bike too which I am thinking about using again, now that "down there" is alot better. There was no way I could have considered sitting on that saddle before now lol
Squiggles - I would offer to babysit your little one if I lived closer to the city, he could have stayed the night here and shared Reece's room :D
However, if it was me I would leave him with the parents for 1 night. I'm sure he would be fine and the time passes so quickly. Not sure if you saw in one of my previous posts that we will arrange a Melb meet in the city if you do come down?
Us - We had a nice day shopping, I bought some sleeping bags and a few other things for R. I also got the mobile thingy for the car that I wanted  Got a couple of sweatshirts and belts for myself. I can't squeeze my normal belts around the muffin top :(
I really hate going into a fitting room and catching a glimpse of my backside or stomach in the many mirrors, it's so depressing.

im leaving cassidy with DPs sister in sunday for a few hours so DP and i can go to the movies (we're going out on a 'date' LOL), but i dont think, at this stage that i would be willing to leave her over night or with someone that i dont really know.
I think tomorrow i am going to dust off my bike and go for a ride... its a really nice cross trainer that DP bought me for my birthday a few years ago, its still new as i havent used it very much LOL but now is the time i guess...
Anywhoooo.... had a good day today, Cassidy has been sleeping a bit more through the day but is still sleeping fairly good during the night, so mite be a growth spurt kinda thing...

Hi girls,
Squiggles - I wouldn't be comfortable leaving Liam overnight just yet........but I would be likely to leave him with my mum than my MIL. It's a hard one.....if you don't have a problem leaving him with your mum then it should be okay.
Icugal - glad to hear your mother's group is going well and there's some ladies in your area!
Hels - I'm sure Reece will settle back into a routine again.....they all have those dreaded unsettled periods some nights. Liam was good last night and slept from 11pm to 5:30am.
Leashie - welcome back!
mumslilspunks - happy birthday for yesterday. Hope the hangover doesn't last too long.
LMenz - I hope your neck feels better soon.......I've heard mixed reports about Maby Bjorn. My sister used it and thought it was great but others have said similar to you.
Purplebird - your hubby sounds great! Mine does some housework, cooking etc but I'm now back into doing it
Me - my BIL and his wife came and visited today with the kids...........hubby has been out most of the day to Bunnings etc so I've been home with Liam who's very sleepy today. I've started dusting but got bored with the housework.....just can't get motivated to do it

Leashie - Great to see you again !!
Nothing else to report really. Kaelan is in bed asleep and DF and I are trying to find something to do to entertain ourselves. I go back to work tomorrow night... so this is officially my last day of maternity leave I guess.
And I still haven't got AF yet (now three days late). Out of paranoia, I retested today with a HPT - still negative... phew !! Guess my system must be out of whack.

This wind thing with Coen is driving me insane, we had 3 nights in a row where we were up with him from 5am, the night before last l was up at 2, 4.45. 5.45 and then Darrin stayed up with him pretty much thereafter… But last night was fantastic, l am almost scared to talk about it just in case l jinx myself, he started making little noises and when l reluctantly pulled my head of my pillow it was 5am, it was fantastic, but there’s more, he was only stirring so l let him go for another half hour… that was the longest sleep we have had ever, and it made such a difference!!! YEAH!!! I hope everyone else fared as well as we did
Mon (Superfrog) - you shouldn’t have to buy a ticket for Liam –but you might want to call the train station or the met before hand to see what the protocol is, for instance l think you have to get on the first carriage so they can help you on???? BTW – it was great to meet you and Liam today, he looks just like his picture!
Squiggles – if Connor still fits in a capsule by that stage l could pick you and him up from the city and drive you out to wherever the meet is, alternatively we can meet in the city as Hels suggested, or you might be able to get a car seat with the car they give you, just enquire with the company…
Juzzy – on treadmills- we just bought one for Mum on E-bay, but Kmart have one on sale at the moment, it sounds okay, its fully electronic and its under $400. A couple of places have them on sale right now b/c of mothers day – I was tempted to get one as well but l am worried about it turning into a dust collector and we really can’t afford for me to be buying equipment that l don’t use, also the space it would take up is a bit of an issue for us – what do others do?
Nomorescuba - l hear you on the sore boob thing, l went for a short walk weeks ago, and Coen was crying so much that l just wanted to get home so l started to jog with him – l stopped quite quickly because of the boob thing… its not just that their bigger (l’ve always had big ones), but their heavy with fluid… a friend of mine had the same problem and couldn’t start her running again until after she gave up breastfeeding… :-0
Mon/Hels – congratulations on the successful shopping – doesn’t it feel great when you find what you want without too much hassle???
Mon - I went into the Best & Less at Werribee Plaza – its great… well organized – l am going to have to make a detour there each time l come out that way…
Penny – I am with you on the house stuff, l find myself doing everything but the cleaning which is what l should be doing – its like – l am at home all day looking after Coen, washing and cooking, doing the rest of the house cleaning just seems like sticking the needle in that bit further – does that make any sense, its like turning me into a complete housewife (and l don’t mean that too sound horrible) its just every part of me resists it…People come past and say how clean it looks, but really it just looks tidy cos it’s a well designed house, the oven needs scrubbing, as do the bathrooms, l haven’t mopped the whole place since the night l went into labout (don’t even ask, after my waters broke l was bored…) you know what l mean, all that really deep cleaning that you do a bit of each weeks or so, or in my case ignore for 9 weeks!!!
Squiggles - Its a real dilemma – l would have thought l would be fine to leave Coen for a few hours – turns out l am – just a couple and only during the day, when DH and l went out for dinner and left him with mum l missed him terribly – l knew he would be safe and all – but it was just really hard… l will try it again some time but just not right now. Like Hels offerred, l would be happy to babysit for you (l’m 20 minutes from the city), but from your point of view l am a stranger as well – the professional babysitter will be well trained – and it will mean that you can get back to Conner quite quickly … this sounds a bit pedantic, but perhaps you could write down what it is you are worried about with leaving him with the babysitter and then discuss these with your husband??? It might help to get your worries out there…
Mumslilspunks – Happy Birthday!!!
DH & DP – it seems most of us have had challenges in that dept. – l guess its no surprise given the dynamics in the relationships have changed so much since the addition of our newest members. Juzzy – l did the same thing with our romantic dinner, cancelled it cos DH was being a complete a**hole… but it was rescheduled and we had a great time in the end…

Juzzy - What a shame that your DP is being such an Ar$ehole to you. Big :hugs: to you, I hope he gets his act together soon.
Housework - I only do the minimum during the week as I prefer to spend time with R and take him out and there's only so many hours in the day. Having said that, we are having an "at home" day today and doing some cleaning. DH has just vacuumed  and we will mop the floors today too. I also have alot of bookwork to do this arvo, which I will start on after lunch.
We had a much better night too, I wrapped R like I used to and he slept from 10pm to 7am, then again until 11am :smiliedance: so we have had plenty of sleep which we all needed. Poor DH was so tired yesterday that when we drove home last night he had to pull over on the side of the freeway so I could drive the rest of the way home as he couldn't concentrate.
I have decided to keep wrapping R until we have made the transition to the cot, he's obviously not ready for the sleeping bags yet. I don't think the weather is cold enough either and he gets overheated.
Have a great sunday everyone :D

Afternoon everyone!
I too should be doing housework. This afternoon I'm going to clean our new ensuite from top to bottom to get rid of all the builders' mess, and then it will be ready to use! You'd think that would be an added incentive to get my butt off the couch, wouldn't you??
Liam has always slept in his cot. During the day or evening I don't wrap him, but for the overnight sleep I wrap him still. I think that helps him differentiate between naps and sleeps. We tried a sleeping bag suit thing but it was just too big and fluffy. Poor kid could only have his arms out to the sides! I've got another smaller one that someone gave us but it has a hood, which is really big. I wouldn't put him to bed in that one as I'd be worried the hood could cover his face.
Just went and bought some nappies as I only had a single one left! Decided to go with another pack of huggies infants as they seem to be working well. When did people move up to crawlers? Liam is about 5.5 kg, so theoretically the infant size should still fit him for ages. And why don't they sell the infant ones in the big boxes?

Afternoon
We had Jack's "Birth Party" yesterday. It was such a lovely day. Jack was so good considering how many people wanted to nurse him and talk to him.
He went down pretty well and didn't wake until 3am so here's hoping his unsettled nights are a thing of the past (I've probably jinxed myself)
Here's a few pics of the day

Yummo! I looooooove raspberries.
Sure is quiet here this afternoon. Everyone else must be out and about! I have a very unsettled baby here. He's almost asleep in my arms now though. He's had more poo than normal today, and doesn't seem as happy as he has been. No fever though, so I'm hoping he isn't getting sick.
Hopefully he will still sleep through the night tonight. Will be sure to give him a lovely soothing bath this evening.
Still haven't cleaned that ensuite yet ...

Mon - How exciting about your ensuite, that might be just the incentive l would need to clean... in all seriousness l have to do some the house looks like a bomb has hit it cos l did three loads of washing and haven't put any of it away yet!!!
..When did people move up to crawlers? Liam is about 5.5 kg..
We put Coen in Crawler a littler early because the infant were a bit tight on his belly, he was just under 6kg, if your not having any problems with explosive poos or leakages keep him in infant until you at least get rid of the nappies you have, then perhaps consider moving up to crawler - l hated that they didn't have infant in the big boxes too - l think its because they are a transition nappy - between newborn and crawler and they don't expect people to be in them for long...
Lauren - that's a great photo of you and Jack - & that cake was sooooo yummy!!

hey guys
well things are a bit better here today, DP apologised to me and everything and we did end up going on our 'date' to the movies...
i actually felt really bad for going out and leaving Cassidy at home. DPs sister looked after her for the afternoon and i doubt that she even relised that i had left but i still felt bad.
As for cleaning, i have been a bit better over the last few weeks, i guess now that i had got on top of it it is a bit easier to maintain. The only thing i havent done is mop the floors, i just can seem to find the time to do that. Everything else is achieveable.
Anyway, hope everyone has had a good weekend.

DH decided the house looked like a bomb had hit it and started cleaning - so that got me motivated - house has now been vacuumed and mopped. Yeah!!!

happybirthday REN!!!!! Hope you had lovely day!
Housework - I'm pretty slack too...I just do superficial tidying. As long as the toilet is clean then that's all I care about. After Jack's party finished I was in our bedroom feeding him and I could hear DH, his sister and her hubby cleaning up...I was soo relieved I didn't have to worry about it
Solids - I won't be starting solids until around 6 months unless Jack is really showing interest in food or my milk is no longer enough for him. I had my MIL and my mother both telling me on the weekend I should he giving him farex now so he will sleep through the night.....I think they forget that they had their babies 30 years ago and a lot has changed since then.
Mon - I'm the same as Sandy re: nappies- it was actually on her suggestion that I went up to crawler's with Jack....they are much better at containing the poo up the back! And they don't make his muffin top look as bad  I hope Liam settles well for you tonight and he's not getting sick
Sandy - I'm so rapt for you that Coen slept a bit longer...After the way Jack has been the last few weeks I honestly don't know how you have coped for so long. I've got my fingers crossed he keeps it up.
Juzzy - :hugs: about your DP. Glad you have sorted it out. I've been there too. It's hard! It's such a big adjustment to a relationship. DH and I have been together 10 years and I though we had all our little niggles sorted out but when a baby comes along it can make everything crazy.
Penny - Hope you first night back at work goes well....no wonder it's been quiet on here today LOL!
US - My MIL and FIL came around today on their way back home after Jack's party. They came out to Baby Bunting with us to get a porta cot.... Jack needed to have a little nap in the car on the way there as he was soo tired. Well FIL sat in the back with him and just wouldn't leave him alone...kept talking to him and poking at him. I was driving and kept asking him in a very nice way to keep his hands off as Jack needed to sleep but he continued to ignore me. They think I have no idea what I'm doing even though I'm with Jack 24/7....he kept saying there's no sleep in his eyes, he's ok :ecomcity: In the end Jack cried nearly the whole way home from tiredness which MIL and FIL kepy saying was because he was hungry!!!!!!! IDIOTS!!
On a lighter note a friend bought Jack the Fisher Price Aquarium....so far he loves it! I put on today and after the music stopped I put his dummy back in and he went straight to sleep. It's so cute they way the fish move around and the water bubbles...wish they made adult versions!
My Mother's group starts tomorrow....I'm really looking forward to it!
Nighty night ladies. Hope all our bubba's sleep well

I hear you loud and clear Lauren. It drives me NUTS when people think they know what your baby wants. My MIL insists that Liam is always tired, and is constantly trying to rock him to sleep. Grrr.
Liam seems to be fine now. Has settled down for his mini-sleep like he usually does. Unless he rouses earlier I'll wake him around 11.30pm for his last feed, and hopefully he'll go back to sleep like he usually does. It's good now that we have a relatively predictable evening routine. I probably should be making better use of this time now. :)
After feeding Liam this afternoon I went to start cleaning the ensuite, only to discover that DH had beaten me to it! Still has a few final touches that the builders need to do, but on the whole it looks fantastic. Might go and have my regular shower out there now... just because I can. I need this icon to be a smiley face getting wet :gloomy:

As for me, I'm actually at work now. It's fairly quiet so I've managed to sneak a couple of minutes onto the internet. Sure is weird being back though... but also really good from a social perspective.
This is the first night that I've ever been away from Kaelan and I must admit that I'm missing him like mad. He is at home with his daddy, so at least I know that he is in good hands.
Oh well, I guess I'd better go and care for my patients :)

HEATHER – Wow that is fantastic news!!!! I am so happy for you – l am so completely staggered by your resilience and energy levels!!! Can’t wait to follow you throughout your pregnancy (l will live vicariously through you if that’s okay – we will be waiting for at least 18 months)
Lauren – Parents!!! Sometimes they are just selfish – I can’t believe they just ignored you! I would have been furious – after the first few visits from my inlaws and Darrin subtelly telling them not to play with Coen when he was asleep – we thankfully don’t have that issue anymore – (Darrin told them that the nurse told us not to let him get overtired blah blah blah)! One time when MIL was in the car with us – she was in the back seat, Darrin told his mum not to “slobber over Coen” he meant don’t fuss over him – l think she took it literally (it was pretty funny)… I hope they do get the message sometime though – does it help if Mark says it??? We have gotten into a pattern whereby l tell my mum he tells his…
Mon – Yeah for you that the ensuite is clean (good on DH) – Are you loving having an ensuite now? I don’t think l would have survived without it during my pregnancy (with all those toilet stops)
Us - well Coen didn't sleep quite as well last night but it wasn't that bad either. He woke at 3 for a feed, back in bed by 3.20; at 5.30 (DH got up with him) with wind, l gave him a quick feed at 6 (back in bed at 6.30) then DH took over (he was getting up for work anyway) resettled him and we both slept until 7.40am, he is such a happy little camper now kicking away in his bouncer with his ever present caterpiller by his side (in his mouth)!!!
Mothers group for the first time for me today - l can't wait --good luck to you to Lauren!
Hope everyone has a good day.
Oh by the way, l invited inlaws over on Friday night (they hadn't seen Coen for 1 1/2 weeks) - we ordered takeaway and l did my best to leave him with MIL to look after, she changed his nappy and on my suggestion gave him a bath with DH (it almost killed me - the bath bit l mean, its my favourite time of the day, DH and l do it together and Coen loves it) - but l think it made their day - l was very strict, when we were about to eat dinner Coen started to act up - we put him in his bouncer and MIL said she would hold him, l said no, he's hungry l grabbed him gave him a really short feed and brought him back and put him in his bouncer again, they gave him a bath whilst l cleaned up, and l said right from the start as soon as he has had his bath he is going to have a feed and off to bed... so as soon as he was dressed l grabbed him up - he got a goodnight kiss from everyone and we went off to our room to feed - they disappeared within minutes ... Coen went right to bed!!! I think l will try and set these kind of limits from now on -- it might sound autocratic but in all honesty l think if they know the rules from the outset it saves me a lot of grief later...

OMG im so annoyed.... took my BMW in to get serviced today and was told that the engine is basically dead!!
So now we have the choice of selling the car or getting a new engine for it..
meanwhile, my other car is effectively a two seater (has four seats in it, but wont fit the baby seat in the back)...
i dont think i can fit (and not sure if it is legal) the baby seat into my RX7 (the two seater). The seat would have to go into the front... there are no airbags or anything...
OMG what am i going to do

Heather - Congrats on your :bfp: :smiliedance: What did DP say? and has he got a job yet? (I hope so)
Juzzy - Great to hear that you went on your date after all and shame about the car. Maybe try ringing Vic Roads to see what the rules are re 2 seaters and baby seats or even RACV might know?
Sandy - Good for you for setting some ground rules. I should have done that when bubs was first born when we had heaps of visitors at all hours. I know for next time.
Penny - How was your first night back at work?
Is anyone else returning to work soon? I work from home, I did all my bookwork yesterday so you could say that I went to work all arvo lol.
Lauren - I haven't had any suggestions about solids yet but I know there is no way that R is ready, I think I will know when he is and I hope it is around the 6 month mark too. Maybe next time they ask you could say that Jack does have farex at night, just to shut them up lol.
Mon - How exciting about the ensuite, how was that shower? I will check out your blog again when I can to see what else is happening.
Us - We had a good night again, 10pm to 8am and then 9am to 11am. I think I have over-slept today haha. We have had a new mattress delivered today for our bed so I am hoping it is more comfy than the last one. We had a latex one, it is only 3 years old but we don't like it and would never have another one. We have gone back to a spring one with cushion top, it's a Sealy so it should be good.
I am going to ring Melb IVF today to see what the go is for trying for another bub. I feel like I want to start earlier but I'll see what they say. We are going to keep it a secret from DH's family and friends this time but I will tell my parents and sister as I need to confide in someone and they are in UK anyway.
Good luck to those of you starting Mother's group today.

Eskimomumma - Congrats! How exciting for you. Im definitely holding off for a while.

As for the car, i have checked online and cant see anything to say that i cant have the carseat in the front of the rx7, just that it isnt recommended. No laws against it or anything. it is hopefully only going to be for 6 months or so until we can afford something more practical.

Juz.. if you decide to ttc again so soon, please, please please go see your doctor first. The last thing you need is a ruptured uterus because your freshly healed suture line has split open. I'm sure that it is an exceptionally rare complication, but better to be safe than sorry IMHO.
A sincere good luck to you if you decide to try for #2 :)

Penny - How was your first night back at work?
Penny - how was work? Did it feel strange being away from Kaelan?
Work was great... had a nice night. It was pretty quiet so I didn't have to strain the braincells too much on my first night back.
It was a bit weird though, even though I missed Kaelan like crazy... being at my original hospital on nightshift felt like as I'd just been transported back in time 14 months and that the whole pregnancy/baby thing was just some dream that I'd finally woken up from. It's really hard to explain.
At about 5am, I was falling asleep at the nurses station (as I'd been up for 24 hours at that point), so the girls let me go and have a sleep in the doctors room for an hour and a half. When I got back to the Unit at 6:30am... one of my friends had already done my obs and bloods... so all I had to do were some medications and my notes and I was able to handover and go home on time. It took me just over an hour to get back to Craigieburn.. which is great considering that I had to drive from the eastern suburbs to the northern suburbs in the midst of Monday morning peak hour traffic.
It was so good to see everyone again and I had so much fun showing off my baby boy in the numerous photos that I took to work with me... I got to have lots of proud mummy moments.
I don't go back to work now for another fortnight. I was supposed to work next Sunday night, but I had to cancel the shift because Kaelan is having his dedication ceremony in Wodonga next Sunday morning.
Ok, I have a baby here crying for a bottle (and then bed hopefully)... so I'd better switch back to mummy mode now :)

Hi All
Had my first Mother Group today. Went pretty well. Jack wasn't too bad he grizzled a bit on and off because he was tired as usual. There are about 10 of us so far and one lady lives in the house behind mine! Talk about a coincidence! We walked home together afterwards...so looks like I've found a new walking buddy.
There were lots of boys too...must be something in the water! One of the other boys was born on the same day as Jack. Next week we will talk about settling and sleeping.....I better pay attention as we had another shocker of a night with Jack.
I've got my 3 month check up with the MCHN tomorrow so I will be able to talk with her a bit more about Jack's night waking and constant feeding.......I feel like I'm slowly going insane!

Thanks for the well wishes re TTC'ing, although it will still take a while for us. Last time we were a year just getting through the appointments, tests and red tape.
This time around will involve more appointments and cycle monitoring so I expect it will still be towards the end of the year before any insemination happens. Just wanted to get the ball rolling now as it takes so long.
Has anyone had a look at the new auction site on here called Monkeys Undies? I have registered and started listing some items today. My username on there (if anyone wants a squizz) is hels_bels. Same name but with an underscore.
We spent the last hour putting the new mattress on the bed and making it, can't wait to try it out!
Happy  vibes to all.

Well im finally at breaking point!
After yet another shocker of a night and dh STILL not talking to me i have reached breaking point.
Billy is so unsettled all of the time and i looked at the reflux/colic thread and im sure he has silent reflux. He shows ALL symptoms and im at my witts end with the lack of sleep and also trying to cope with ds1 now that he's hit the '2's.
If i dont get back on for a while it coz ive checked myself into a home! :D No but really i feel so bad coz i should have picked up on it alot sooner and im sure if i did i wouldnt be at the point i am now.
I was at a point this morning where i thought i was going to throw Billy or something. :crying:
I just couldnt take it anymore. He'd been up every 2/3 hrs and from 4am just constant screaming.
Sorry for the rant ladies but just need to get it off my chest and with dh and i not talking i dont have anyone elese.:gloomy:
All ive done today is cry and snap at my boys and i really hate myself for it.

mumslilspunks - :hugs:
I just found out that the company I work for has just been sold to our biggest competitor. No details yet, but I'm not sure if I'll still have a job after my maternity leave ends. Apparently they are having meetings and stuff at work so everyone can ask questions, even though it is still early days and no one knows much. Think I might have to make a visit and let them know not to forget about me!
Wouldn't mind a redundancy package though...

Lauren – Glad to hear your mothers group went well, so did mine, we did sleeping & settling this week and like you the group was mostly made up of boys!!! I’m a bit annoyed though, there are supposed to be 30 mothers in our group – that is way too many!!! Only about 18 turned up yesterday – which is still a pretty big group. I also met somebody who had a baby the same day as Coen – and get this we were in the same hospital, she checked in at 6.30 am and although l had already had Coen by that time l didn’t leave the delivery suite until 8 so we would have been neighbours… we were discussing the midwives – we had the same ones, except she only had an hour with the horrible midwife (who, incidentally, told her to stop moving around so she could hurry up and go home) whilst l had her all through the hardest time of my labour… she lives just around the corner which is exciting!!
I wasn’t too worried about mothers group cos l knew that l always had you gals if it didn’t work out – but this group of mothers seems to be down to earth and quite open to discussing the trial as well as the tribulations of motherhood!
Hels – How did the new mattress go?
Ren – I don’t know what to say but hang in there, is it worth going to see a doctor about, getting a “diagnosis” so you can start working through the remedies. Big hugs to you!! Bugger about nurse on call! I will say it – but ignore it if its not what you want to do (l really don’t mean to offend) – is it worth biting the bullet with DH and asking for help?
Like you we had a really sh!t night with Coen, first of all he wouldn’t go down for me during the day, so he had no sleep between 10am and 8pm (even though l tried and DH tried for several hours), l woke him up for a dream feed at 9.30pm cos his last feed was at 6 and l knew he would be up soon, l thought that would get us through to the usual 3 am feed, but no, l was up from 2.30-3.30, vomited on, then he peed all over himself, then he was up every half hour from 4.30am (which DH handled), but it made no difference cos l couldn’t sleep, l have just tried to put him down again now, he slept for about 15 minutes and is now grizzling waiting to be picked up – l am going to try and ignore him for awhile!
Mon – Good luck with the job (from what l have heard when a new company comes on board the redundancy packages can be quite good) – l hope it turns out which ever way works best for you!
I had better go and do something with this son of mine – today is going to be a really tough day! I am going to still turn up to my walking group this morning – hopefully the fresh air will put him to sleep!

Sandy - Glad your's Mother Group went well. Our group was about 10-12 but 7 didn't show up.....18 is a huge group! Makes it hard to talk when there's so many people. Maybe over the weeks a few people will drop out?
I hope you have a better day with Coen - He could be starting his 12 week growth spurt. Jack was acting very similar....Remember you can always pop over for a cuppa if you are going stir crazy :)
US - Had a much better night. Down at 6.30, fed at 3.15 and fed again at 6.45. I hope he keeps it up. I have my 3 month check up with the MCHN today so will be picking her brain about his behaviour lately.....she said yesterday a growth spurt shouldn't last any longer than 2 weeks and were coming pretty close to that. I think it might be time to establish some sort of routine with his day sleeps too. Better think about having a shower.....

Hi,
Someone in a past email wanted to know a bit about me so here goes. I am 29 years old and a conveyancing legal secretary married for 6 years to Calum who is 32 years and the QLD manager for electrical company who do the electrics for expo's currently doing the boat show in QLD which means I will not see him for a few weeks. I have one sister in QLD who is 6 months pregnant and another sister who is coming tomorrow from Sri Lanka before heading to Uganda to work. Born in NZ but have lived in Australia for seven years starting in Melb then Syd before Qld. Currently building our third house in Coomera which will be ready in 5 weeks (hopefully). We have one son named Caleb who was born on 11 Feb 07. I have read a few of the thread and I know it is hard to remember the good things our partners do. Calum had his brother up at the weekend and they drank all night and went to sleep at 6am in the morning. They woke me at 2am to take them to the shop to get smokes. I also did not sleep and by 12pm then next day needed to get out so went to one of my friend's houses where we get together with another 5 girls and get our hair done and complained about him. They all agreed with me but once I got home I decided that my husband looks after Caleb when I want to go out, does not get much time off including weekends and always gets phone calls up until we go to bed and supports our family so I can stay home for a while with Caleb. Calum then looked after Caleb for most of Sunday and Monday (public holiday in QLD) so he is not bad after all - so my advice to everyone is remember the good things they do and forget the bad and you always need friends to ***** about men from time to time.

Hi Rochelle,
Great to hear more about you. That's one huge paragraph of information there. Is your enter key broken??
Maybe you could add a signature to your profile? I find it easier to keep track of who's who that way. But it could just be me!
And I agree, sometimes it is very easy to focus on the negative things are partners do, and forget the positive things. Some of us have more issues than others though... every relationship is different.
Anyway, welcome aboard. Look forward to getting to know you!

Ren - :hugs: to you, I hope things settle down soon.
Sandy - I hope you have a better day too. Seems like a lot of bubs are going through unsettled times at present. I can't get R to sleep in his pram much now, he seems to favour his swing so that's where he is now.
I didn't sleep that well as the new mattress is firmer than our old one, but I will get used to it. DH on the other hand said he had a great night's sleep, so at least one of us did lol.
Roopee - LOL at the kitchen... kids will be kids, hey?!
Rochelle - Nice to hear from you again. I was nearly out of breath after reading your long spiel (only joking). Are you moving into one of those new estates at Coomera? I used to live on the Gold Coast so I know it well, although I have been in Melb for almost 3 years now.

I feel a bit depressed today, maybe it's because I woke up with a cold. I'm going to have a couple of days at home to rest as I want to go to the ABA thing in the city on friday.
I'm not sure if I want to go to my Mother's Group tomorrow, I don't really enjoy it and there's no one there that I really like or get along with. It seems like they are all competing with one another all the time. But then I think to myself that maybe if I stick it out it might get better and it could be good for R in the long run. I'll think about it some more today, really I need to try and cheer myself up a bit.
Thankfully I have you Melb girls to hang out with!

hels i feel the same about my mothers group. So i havent gone this week. They are all older than me anyway so i kinda feel out of place in the group and the group dynamics are weird. Like yours, it seems as though they are in competition with one another which i have found quite off putting. Looks like i am destined to be mothers group-less....
Once again nothin happening over here, just trying to get some cleaning done. It seems i have very little planned for this week and it is kinda depressing.

Mon (and anyone else who's interested) I found Sandy's post;
Sorry for the double post...
At the Melbourne meet l mentioned the Mother's Play day in Melbourne run by the Australian Breastfeeding Association to celebrate National Mothering Week (May 7-13th), unfortunately l am not sure if the other states are putting something on, but if anybody is interested in attending l will endeavour to go, PM me and we can organise for a group of us to meet up...
In Victoria, you can join Mothers Play, on Friday May 11 from 10am-2pm at Waterfront City, Docklands. A one day, one place opportunity to take time out, be pampered, relaxed and motivated. Come and try, come and see, come and consider ….. a whole range of activities to tempt you! Entry by gold coin donation. More info at www.abavic.asn.au (http://www.abavic.asn.au/).
You do not have to be a breastfeeding mother to attend...

Try and stick your Mother Group out if you can. Hopefully it will settle down once everyone becomes a bit more relaxed
Just got back from the 3 month check up and I scored pretty low on the mental health questionaire which is good. She said Jack does need to sleep more during the day and to just persist more with the re-settling. I'll stick with it and see how we go.

Mother's Play sounds like fun! What time are people planning to get there? How long do you think it would take to walk from Southern Cross station?

Has anyone opened up a bank account for their bub?
I opened one yesterday with ANZ, it's in my name but in trust for Reece until he turns 18. They have an excellent interest rate if a minimum deposit of $10 is made each month. It's called a progress saver account. I thought I would share this info as it's one of the best accounts I could find for kids.
I've had a fairly quiet day, just resting and doing a bit of housework. I've put R in a couple of peapod nappies today too and so far they haven't leaked :fingerscrossed: I figured I might aswell use them seeing as I bought 6 of them and they were sitting in the drawer.
Not much else to report, so now I am rambling :ecomcity: lol.
Have a good night everyone.

I opened an account for Coen, Mum had been putting away $5 for him every week since l told her l was pregnant, so there was $200 to start it, and l have set up a direct debit from my account on a monthly basis. The account is in Coen's name and l have access and authority over it.
It was wierd because l got some mail addressed to him - just with his initial C. L. and l looked at it thinking that somebody had completely stuffed up - but they had the surname right.... and when l opened it up it dawned on me it was for Coen and it was his very first mail - l meant to keep the envelope but it got caught up with the rubbish and thrown out...
Sorry -just rambling - after a fairly bad day (& night) yesterday with sleeping Coen has been an angel today - l hope that carried through to tonight cos we could all do with the sleep, in fact l think l will head off to sleep shortly (just in case)

I don't want to sound insincere here... so know that I say this in all seriousness.... I know you have family in Melbourne... but if you EVER feel like you are at breaking point and need to get away, you (and the boys) are more than welcome to stay at my house for a night or two. I'm even willing to look after the boys if you need to get some much-needed sleep. I know that I'm not exactly convenient to you.. nor do you know me from any other serial killer on the internet ( :D ), but just know that my door is always open to you (and that goes for all the rest of you Feb girls too !!).

I've been meaning to ask, does anyone elses baby get sweet/vinegar smelling breath? Liam gets this sometimes, usually after crying a lot. Will have to ask the MCHN but thought I'd put it out here as well.
I hope it means something different in babies... but in adults, sugary/vinegary breath is symptomatic of diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious condition that results when blood sugars are very, very high). However, if that were the case, then I'm sure Liam would have been at the hospital a long time ago because of other serious symptoms.
I'm definately NOT a paediatric nurse, so maybe it is a normal thing for babies. If concerned, then I'd definately ask someone about it.
For those of you who have recently started your mothers group.. I hope it went well. It will probably take a couple of weeks for you all to start bonding.
I attended my very last formal mothers group today. We had it at another health center because several mothers groups combined to have a session on starting solids. Anyways.. the strangest thing happened. At the end of the session, this mother (from another group) came up to me and said "I don't know how or where, but I know you". I thought that maybe her face looked familiar... but being as I haven't been in Craigieburn very long, I figured that maybe she had confused me with someone else.
We ended up spending about ten minutes going back and forth rattling off various places, interests, groups, people etc... trying to find some sort of connection... but nothing. That is, until I asked her about where she grew up. As it turns out, she was an army brat and lived in Wodonga for 18 months... and wouldn't you know it... once we established more details, we realised that we were in the same Home Group in Year 12 at Wodonga West Secondary College in 1992. Freaky or what??? I never expected to go to mothers group in Melbourne, only to run into someone I went to school with 15 years earlier from Wodonga... such a small world.
So like I said, my mothers group has officially ended... however, we've already made plans to meet up again next week, so hopefully we'll all keep in touch. I was pretty lucky with my group... they're all really nice.
Oh, and good news for me... I *finally* got AF today... a week late mind you. I was starting to think I was going to become some dried up old menopausal woman :) At least I'm not pregnant though... that's the main thing.

Yeah, I knew a bit about ketoacidosis from my Biochemistry uni days (seems like eons ago!), and I think it was mentioned on an episode of House too. No other symptoms though, so I'm not overly concerned at the moment. Wonder if it is related to me having gestational diabetes during pregnancy? Haven't noticed a pattern to the breath smell either, but if it was insulin-related then presumably I'd mostly smell it after breastfeeding.
Will definitely talk to the MCHN about it.
Thanks for the feedback.

Morning all,
Penny- thank-you so much and if it happens again i just may rock on your door step!:D
Well yesterday went from bad to worse and i ended up in emergency with Billy. He had worked himself up that much yesterday that he didnt feed all day and i really didnt know what was wrong with him so off we went.
After 2 hours in the waiting room with a screaming child, crying mother we were finally seen too. Three doctors later and apaarently there's nothing 'medically' wrong with him :banghead:
I was told it may have been the formula change or he maybe getting a cold.
So when we got home DH rocked up after telling me he was working (not answering his phone all day) found out he'd actually been hunting all day...:banghead:
So i let him have it last night, told him im sick of his childish behaviour and i have 2 kids to look after dont want a third and that if he didnt start helping more im moving out.
So last night Billy had a bottle at 9pm slept through till 3am, feed then back to bed till 7am!:smiliedance: Managed to get some sleep.
Again thank you ladies for all your warm wishes and advice, i wouldnt know what to do without you!
Pop back in later to catch up on the personals.

Your DH... hmmm pretty poor effort on his part. Glad you gave him a spray about what has been going on. Good on you for sticking to your guns.
Squiggles - Yay about your cat FINALLY coming home! Poor thing. Id be taking her off to the vet for a check up JIC.
Penny - thats pretty cool about your mothers group, it really is a small world.
as for bank accounts i am thinking about opening one for Cassi. It really is a good idea. Will speak to DP and see what he says. I know my mum has been keeping money aside for her.
Anyway, again not much happening here today. The last two nights we have tried bringing Cassi's bed time a bit earlier to 9.45 pm (it was 11.00 pm). So far so good though, she has slept from 9.45pm til 7.30am. It has been really good to get a bit more sleep, but i am still feeling run down and by 7pm i am dying to go to bed.
im off, need to do some housework

Another sleepless night here
Jack slept from 6.30 - 11.45. I re-wrapped him and he went back to sleep until 1.45 where I fed him...he woke again at 3.45. This time I made DH get up to him as I was sure he wasn't hungry...well turns out he was. He then woke at 7.45 so I've had some sleep but no more than two hours in a row :banghead:
This week he's really started getting more inquistive and interactive..I can't shut him up! He's babbling all the time. It's like he will miss out if he goes to sleep. My goal for today is to try and re-settle him after his usual 40 minutes! I will try not to give in and get him up! I'm aiming for him to have at least an hour but 1.5 would be heaven
Anyway I'm babbling now...I NEED sleep!!

I forgot to ask....when your bub wakes in the night for a feed and they start talking and smiling...what do you do? Do you smile back and talk or do you try and ignore them?
Jack thinks it's playtime at 3am...laughing and talking! It's really hard not to laugh back at him but I'm worried I'm encouraging him to play. At the same time I don't want him to feel like I'm ignoring him either
Does this happen to anyone else?
juzzy

yeah that happens to me when i try to settle Cassidy for a nap during the day and before her bedtime in the evening. She always thinks that it is time to play and starts to smile and giggle.
i try to ignore her as best i can, its fairly hard as it is really cute.
My CHN told me to avoid eye contact when trying to settle them otherwise you are validating them and telling them it is ok to play around while u are trying to get them to sleep.
I just talk to her in a soft voice bout how it is "sleep time" and go about the normal routine of changing nappy, feed, wrap and sleep. Has worked for me so far.

Thanks Juz
I have to stand behind him now so he can't bend his head around to see me....
I've just managed to re-settle him..it took 40 minutes and he's now due for his feed again. Guess I'll just let him sleep...surely he will get the message soon????
Nope there he goes again :banghead:

Mumslilspunk - sorry to hear how stressful things have been with your little boy Billy (and your DH!). I would see a Paediatrician about reflux for a diagnosis. Liam has silent reflux and it's very distressing. He's on Zantac 3 times per day which seems to be helping but he absolutely hates taking it and cries & cries.
LMenz - Liam isn't a very good sleeper during the day (not in his cot anyway) and cat naps, so I know what you mean. I can here him stiring now and he's been down like 20 minutes. It's really annoying having to resettle them isn't it? Especially when you can't get anything else done :banghead:
Squiggles - so glad your cat has come home
I love the idea of opening a bank account for bubs! I hadn't really thought of it to be honest but glad you guys have put the idea in my head.
Me - pretty sure I've caught a stomach bug of some sort. Liam is even out of sorts today too......have my first Mothers Group today, so it will be interesting to meet all the other mums.

Just wanted to let you know charlie is doing exactly the same now. He used to sleep well during the day, but now wakes after 30 - 40 mins and SCREAMS ! He just can't resettle himself.
I've decided to just pick 1 fight a day (at lunchtime) to make him sleep more, and if i really can't get him down then i just take him out for a walk. Honestly it's driving me mad, so i know how you feel. I just can't get anything done...
I guess charlie is sleeping very well at night though so i'm not complaining about his daytime sleeps too much - i'd rather it was that way around than the other!

Sarah - Glad I'm not the only one.....Jack used to sleep well at night but that's gone out the window lately
Will Charlie sleep for longer in his pram or still only 30-40 minutes?

Lauren - I was just wondering if Jack is really hungry in the night when he stirs? or does he just need to be re-settled? I know it's a bit different for BF v FF babies. But Reece will wake up and I pop his dummy in and he's straight back to sleep in minutes. He still feeds at around 9.30-10pm and not again until around 7am, regardless of how many times he wakes up. Just a thought as they can get into the habit of snacking?
Having said that, last night he woke every hour and a half until 3am :banghead: , then he slept until 7am, had his feed and then slept 8am to 10am (so did I). So even though I had a broken night I am not feeling too bad.
I am heading off to my Mother's Group soon as I feel a bit better today and things have run quite smoothly today with bubs.
I'll be back later.
P.S Squiggles - Great news about the cat :yelclap:

Hey gals
I havent been on bub hub in a week or so...
How is everyone! Im sorry i havent really had a chance to read everyones posts ive just skimmed over them because i have a few things to get done today,
But i wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS to heather for your pregnancy that really is wonderful news!! Im really excited for you and hope all goes well!!
and Jen- :smiliedance: Hip Hip Hooraayy for the kitty returning home!! I am such a softy when it comes to cats so i really know what you've been through, its happened to me a few times...one time my old cat did not return home :crying: i think she went off to die, they do that sometimes, so im soo pleased yours has come home!!!
I met up with a mum from bub hub the other day, it was really nice!! she is very lovely and will hopefully meet up again tommorrow for a cuppa.
the ex came to visit lillyana yesterday, he didnt even bother to warn mum and I that his grandmother AND his mum were coming to visit as well :banghead: It really P***** me off cause i had made arrangements with mum to go shopping while she stayed and looked after lilly while he visited. I didnt want to have to see him after all the stress he's put me through lately but i couldnt exactly say "hi, nice to meet you' to his grandma and then leave!! GRR Im trying to get some orders in place so that he doesnt have to come here to see lilly. So i would drop her off at a special centre for these types of things and he would come visit her there with supervision and then i'd pick her up. I reeaaalllyy dont want to leave my daughter with him and a stranger, but these people are really good apparently and then i dont have to go into panic mode every time he visits. mind you, my milk supply drops dramatically every three weeks...hmm wonder why...could it be all the stress he puts me under!! OKAY sorry VENT over!
Other than that little fiasco, Lilly and I are splendid! We have so much fun and play a lot and im getting more sleep too which is nice! Can't wait for mothers day! what has everyone got planned??
Take Care all, sorry for not many personals!! i'll try and keep up better next time!! xx

I'm pretty sure it's hunger...he will just scream until I feed him. He won't take the dummy either. When he woke at 11.45 I re-wrapped him and he went back to sleep.......If it doesn't reslove by the end of the week then something else must be up as the MCHN said a growth spurt won't go longer than 2 weeks. Man I hope he settles down. I thought it was meant to get easier from now? Jack's gotten more difficult!

lauren - hugs to you! :hugs: :hugs: it must be difficult, especially when you are unsure what the problem is. hopefully, like you said, if the problem doesnt resolve the CHN will be able to help you with it.
I cant remember if you said you were giving Jack formula or bfing him. Maybe if he is constantly hungry and you are bfing him, maybe breast milk isnt enough? so then he is hungrier sooner, this could be contributing to him being restless and hard to settle...
I could be wrong in what i have said, so maybe speaking to the CHN is a better idea!!
Good luck just the same
I bought a pack of the baby love nappies today, i am planning to use them during the day and huggies at night. I havent had a chance to put a babylove nappy on her yet, but heres hoping they dont leak cause they are cheaper than huggies and look almost identical.

Lauren and Scuba - Olivia is EXACTLY the same when it comes to daytime sleeps - she is great at night so I shouldnt complain but it is such a fight to get her to sleep during the day, she NEVER goes more than 40 mins and most of the time I dont bother trying to resettle her. Your right though it feels next to impossible to get anything done! She is getting smart - she knows as soon as I wrap her it is sleep time and will be relatively happy until that point - but as soon as she is wrapped will start screaming and crying and this will go on for 5-30 mins until she eventually cries herself to sleep. GRR!!!!
By the way Lauren, I love the new pic - Jack is such a cutie!! Looks like he loves his tummy time...
Heather - Wow that is such exciting news!! Im so excited that we will be sharing this journey with you. I think you are incredibly brave for doing it so soon , Im very impressed!!
tegan - :hugs: to you hon. You are such a fantastic mum I am always in awe of you when I read your posts. Sounds like it might be a good idea to have a 3rd party present when lily's dad visits. Hope you get spoiled this mothers day you deserve it!
Squiggles - :yelclap: that your kitty came back!! That is fantastic news.
Well Im having a pretty good week so far. DF and I went on our first post baby date on the weekend - only for 2 hours in the afternoon, we left Olivia with DF's mum, I left a bottle of EBM and she was angel the whole time. Despite this, when we picked her up, my MIL says to me "I think shes a bit too young for her mother to leave her" WTF??!!!. She is almost 11 weeks old, she was fine, it was only for 2 hours!!!! Not happy. I just wanted to say to her that I think its in Olivias best interests if DF and I maintain some kind of relationship and get some us time every now and then but I kept my mouth shut.
I also went to a mumbs and bubs movie today for the first time, and Olivia was an angel thank god. She slept for most of it and sat happily on my lap for the rest. :smiliedance:
Hope everyone else is having a good week. If there any Sydney girls lurking out there we are meeting up next Tuesday afternoon if you want the details PM me!!
 to everyone

Hello people,
Am new to this thread but thought it may be interesting to follow, hope you don't mind. Our DD2 was born on Feb 26th and am interested to follow and compare how all bubs are going. Elly is a pretty cruisy baby she just doesn't have any real routine/feeding pattern at the moment. One night we are up all the time and others only twice. Never once though. She is FF and on average drinks, or should i say skulls about 150mls.
Would love to establish and teach her a pattern that she does not wake at 5.00am for a feed then wants to get up at 6.30am. Had a friend go through that until DS was 12months.
DD1 used to go from around 10.30 -11.00pm until 6.30am -7.00am.

Jack is the same.....smart little cookies! I don't like leaving him cry but he screams louder when I walk in the room. He will normally grizzle for about 10 minutes and then it goes all quiet.
Thanks - he does like his tummy time...seems to prefer being on his tum to his back these days.
I cant remember if you said you were giving Jack formula or bfing him. Maybe if he is constantly hungry and you are bfing him, maybe breast milk isnt enough? so then he is hungrier sooner, this could be contributing to him being restless and hard to settle...
Thanks Juz...He's fully B/F and I was wondering the same thing myself but the MCHN said a lot of people wean at 3 months as they tend to incure the problems were having. He's still having really good weight gains and lots of wet and dirty nappies. My boobs have also exploded again due to his increased feeding...
I think he's developing a mind of his own and is very stubborn

Hi girls
Sorry it's been so long since I posted - have been reading only as I'm back "at work" doing 16 hours a week from home and am struggling to fit it all in! So please, bear with me if I'm all over the place with my personals and topics...
Heather - congratulations, I am very happy for you! I too look forward to sharing this new baby journey with you when you come back to us.
Jen - YAY!! I was so sad about your cat and am excited that you've got her back. I bet you're spoiling her with treats and cuddles!
Ren - Sorry to hear about your hospital visit - how frustrating for you. I really admire your resilience. Good on you for serving DH a reality check - he sounds like he needs it. Take care of yourself... :hugs:
Newcomers - welcome! Blubber - Elly was born on the same day as Ryan and also Coen (harleyq Sandy's beautiful boy).
Daytime sleeping - Ryan is still one of the "no sleep" club during the day. If I'm lucky he has one or two 30 minute naps and that's it til bedtime (9-10pm).
Working - Because Ryan is awake most of the day, I'm trying to work at night time when DF takes him but I'm finding it really hard as we live in a tiny unit and the computer is next to the tv (and the area where Ryan plays). So I get distracted very easily and don't get a lot done. I don't want to have to cancel the work arrangement as it's such a good one - it keeps me connected to my job PLUS it helps to pay the mortgage.
I went into th office to pick up my tasks last friday and it was a LONG day (left home at 7am and got home at 7pm). I left Ryan with my MIL and he had a great time (she was exhausted, which I was secretly pleased about as I think she had forgotten what hard work babies are). Although it was hard to say goodbye, I have to admit that I didn't miss him as much as I thought I would (isn't that terrible??!).
being at my original hospital on nightshift felt like as I'd just been transported back in time 14 months and that the whole pregnancy/baby thing was just some dream that I'd finally woken up from. It's really hard to explain. Penny - This is exactly how I felt! I had the "old me" back for a day. It was great to see everyone and use my brain. :ecomcity:
I am now making arrangements to start Ryan at childcare two days a week from July. I feel a bit guilty but I think he'll be fine - he is pretty laid back and loves the stimulation of being around other kids. DF wants me to stay home for longer but he is not able to help me much with Ryan on weekends for the next few months due to sailing commitments, so I know if I want to get any work done then I will have to go into the office...
Brisbane picnic meet - next Wed 16th from 11am at an inner city location. Please PM me for more details!!
Gotta go - Ryan has fallen asleep so I must do some work on a crime risk assessment report - yay :p.
Have a great week all.
Nina xo
PS.. totally off topic - can anyone recommend a wedding cake maker/decorater in Brissie?

Hello all, thought I would get on and let you all know how we are going.
Harrison still has the sniffles but they are getting better.
Reading your posts i realise how lucky I am that Harrison sleeps through the night and has done so since six weeks. He goes to bed anywhere between 7 and 9 and then wakes around 6 or 7. He will often go for twelve hours overnight without a feed. He does have around 5 to 7 bottle of 180 ml during the day though. I worry sometimes that he goes that long without a feed but he is putting on good amounts of weight and seems happy.
Big :hugs: to you all who are getting up during the night I hope it settles for you soon.
During the day is another story for us most days he will sleep from 8 till 10 but maynot sleep the rest of the day or only have 20 to 40 minute naps. So finding time to do the house work can be difficult.
SHELBY i know how you feel my MIL always makes me feel guilty for not taking Harrison to see her more often. So i invited them over for a BBQ this weekend and she was like oh i guess. :banghead: She really didin't sound interested. Thats the last time i try and make the extra effort . If she's soo keen to see him then she can make the effort. Sorry venting

Heaven sent that is. Elly sleeps well during the day and mostly at night. Just not for extended periods. We thought that trying to get her to feed more during the day would fill her up. She really is on a four hour feed rotation during the day. I have tried getting her to have a few power snoozes in her swing during the day and then giving another feed before she goes to bed. Not very often she will take it.
We are never happy, those with non sleeping bubs during the day wish they would yet it would be nice if Elly feed during the day more and less at night!!

welcome blubber
my bub Cassidy has been sleeping anywhere between 6-10 hours at night. She went through a stage where she wouldnt sleep during the day at all no matter how much DP and myself would try and settle her. Now (well the last few days) she has been having a sleep in the afternoon for about 3 hours.
Personally she can stay awake for as long as she likes during the day as long as she sleeps at night!
I have found that the 'feed, play, sleep' routine works as long as i am good at picking up her tired signs.

Welcome Blubber! Feel free to just jump right in... we all have a lot to say and sometimes it can be hard to get a word in  .
Lauren - love the new avatar pic of Jack. Liam absolutely hates tummy time. I try and pop him down for at least 10 minutes a day, but it is so hard when I can see how much he obviously hates it. Liam can't lift his head up much yet either, and doesn't seem to understand how his arms work! As a result he just plants his face straight down and I have to keep moving it so he can breathe! I can see that he might become one of the bum-shuffling babies rather than a traditional crawler, but we'll wait and see.
I'm finding it hard to get stuff donw during the day now as well. Liam has never slept a lot during the day, which is fine as he used to be fine entertaining himself in his rocker or under his hanging toys while I did stuff. But over the past few days he has turned into the biggest mummy's boy and cries whenever he can't see me, and then wants to be picked up. Soooo frustrating! Plus, he is feeding for a lot longer on each boob at the moment so I've got even more couch time than normal (thank god for my laptop!).
I ended up invited my MIL over this afternoon to visit for a while and used that time to get some housework done. Liam actually slept for a bit while she was here, so my MIL helped with a few things as well. Was great. I feel a bit more normal now that I have tidied up.
Hoping to start a few sewing projects soon. My best friend and my sister's birthdays are coming up and I'd like to make something special for them. Not sure what yet. Will have to cruise the internet for some good ideas. Can't be too time-intensive though if Liam continues this current trend. Any ideas?

Bad day here.
The day started well enough and we went to mother's group this arvo. R was crying at one stage so I had to take him outside in the pusher. Then at the end of the session he started again so I had to leave early. It was a shame as all the other mums were sitting around chatting with their bubs.
Got home and fed him and he started crying again so I decided he was over tired and put him to bed. He absolutely went beserk and to be honest I was so over it by that time. I kept going in to him but left him there until DH got home. I had a bit of a vent to DH as every night he has been coming home from work and going to the study to do work and leaving me with a screaming baby. Anyway, tonight DH has got R out of bed, changed him, cuddled him and has now got him in the kitchen. At least he has stopped crying for the minute.
When I sat at this computer I was so wound up and stressed, but after reading the posts and relaxing a bit I have now calmed down.
I hope this unsettled period passes soon, it is so stressful.
Sorry it's all about me but I needed to let it out. We used to have a great routine and I could take him out anywhere with me, but now it seems that I can't anymore. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day :fingerscrossed:

Congratulations squiggles! That’s fantastic news about your cat!
Mumslilspunks – it sounds like you had a really rough time yesterday – but its great news about the sleep last night!
Lauren - When Coen starts smiling l usually smile back automatically and then l catch myself and try and look straight ahead (they (all the books) advise not to make eye contact)
Shelby – I can’t believe your MIL said that!!! My MIL would probably say the opposite – oh l think you should go out more often – he is so much happier with me!!! Just kidding!! Ofcourse Olivia is better off if you and hubby have quality time together – don’t feel the slightest bit guilty!! Good on you!
Okay, l am going to have a quick b!tch about inlaws, l have requested that everyone call before just dropping in – this was mainly aimed at my inlaws as they were the only ones who would just “pop in” (every day in the beginning), anyway l get a call the other day prefaced by “we won’t be offended if you say no”, but the gist of it was can we just come over whenever we like for 5 minutes or so; Now first of all, l know it would never just be 5 minutes and secondly – NO NO NO NO, anyway l tried saying nicely l have no problems with them coming over but l would prefer they call first just in case l am trying to put him down, asleep myself etc. lots of arguments about how they don’t mind if he is asleep they will just leave etc.; l stuck to my guns and insisted they call first, they seemed very put out… when DH got home l told him all about it and he backed me 100% - but l am left feeling guilty!!! And l know l shouldn’t be – its fair enough that l ask them to call first – some days l just don’t want visitors!!! What do you think???
Mon – Yeah for your mother in law!!!
Like many of you l also have a baby that will only sleep for max 40 minutes - l am going to try harder at the resetlling – but it is difficult because by the time we have had a feed, a bit of a play l have just enough time to get about a 40 minute nap in for him before it is time to feed again – and Coen DOES NOT sleep through a feed! (we do the feed, play, sleep thing – or try to) – Juzzy l hear you on picking up on the tired signs quickly!!!
I don’t wrap Coen during the day, and if l do l only wrap his legs, leaving his arms to do what they will – he seems to prefer that and falls asleep easier, during the night it is a definite wrapping routine though, and tonight l have him wrapped so tight l doubt that even Houdini could get out of it – but we’ll see!! Coen is still waking twice a night for a feed – which l don’t mind cos we get back to bed within 20 minutes; but the waking up with wind is killing – cos that takes a lot longer to sort out – DH has been fantastic though – he will usually start it and by the end of attempted dewinding (it’s a military operation) l usually need to offer Coen the breast just to calm him down a little (he will usually only take a max of 3-5minutes – its purely for relaxation).
Blubber – Welcome, your little one has a good b’day (shared with Ryan and my Coen)!
Nina – congratulations on getting back to work!!! I am in awe of you, penny, roopee, hels and anyone else who is managing to work with young ones, whilst l miss the stimulation a little (why l am constantly keeping an eye on my work e-mail) l am just all over the place – l do go out a lot these days, but that doesn’t require nearly the same level of concentration & commitment etc.; Nina l know you mentioned your finding it a bit difficult to concentrate, but l am sure it will get easier… l hope to do the same when l go back next year, do at least a couple of days from home!!!
:hugs: Hels - sounds like a horrible day -- and Reece is usually such a good little boy - but l guess everyone has an off day once in awhile. Glad you have been able to get away for a little while now - and that DH stepped up to the mark - sometimes they just need a little reminding - I shall confess that l think Coen got a little overtired after my mothers group on Monday -and whilst he was an angel there, that evening it took us 4 hours to get him to sleep - 2 hours before DH got home and 2 hours afterwards... at one stage l appeared to calmly be soothing Coen to sleep in my arms but as soon as DH walked in the room l shoved Coen into his arms and ran out of the room - DH understood that l was at breaking point, he stayed with him for the next 30 minutes and then l heard "f**king h*ll" as he tried for the upteenth time to put what appeared to be a sleeping baby into the cot only to have him start screaming as soon as his head hit the blanket, so l stepped back in and within minutes he was asleep -- if it hadn't been for the tag team approach l think one of the other of us would have gone insane!!!
My houdini wrap seems to be working - Coen seems to be sleeping soundly -- we'll see how it goes... good luck tonight chicks!!!

Seems pretty quiet in here, hopefully everyone else is having a better night than me.
Sandy - I am the same, I don't like visitors coming unless they ring first and "make an appointment". Sometimes I don't even answer the phone if I am feeding R or doing something important.
I have just done laps of the family room with R in the pusher, at least it's stopped him crying for the minute, he is so over tired it's not funny. I'm going to get him ready for bed in a minute, feed him and put him to bed. Then I will watch Prison Break in bed :fingerscrossed: .
I have also put his basinette inside the cot to start the transition. He probably won't like it, but I don't think things could get too much worse than they are now.
Welcome to the new members too

What a busy day !! DF and I went out this morning at 10:30am and have only just got home at 9pm (DF had an appointment in the city, so he had today off work - yay !!).
I can see that some of you are having terrible days with your babies (:hugs: especially to Lauren and Hels)... well all their 'good' behaviour must have travelled to Kaelan today because he has been the most beautifully behaved baby EVER !!
Even though he has been dragged out shopping, taken into the city and then out for dinner... he has done nothing but lay patiently in the pram and smile at us all day... he has been so gorgeous !!!! He was a little bit unsettled trying to get him to bed just now (probably overstimulated)... but it sounds like the room has finally gone quiet... hopefully that means he is asleep.
I ended up buying a new printer today... I needed to replace the print head on my old printer which was going to cost me $100 !! So I ended up buying a printer for $160 which has double the resolution of my old printer... plus it is a scanner/copier too. I'll see how this new printer goes... if it doesn't produce excellent photo prints like my previous printer, then it will go back.
I'm so tired... so no personals from me... except that I must say a big YAY !! to Squiggles for having her cat return to her !! How excellent.

geez feels like all i have done is post on bubhub today! God i really do need to get a life!!
Well i had a fairly uneventful afternoon. Have had a headache for most of it actually and have just put cassidy to bed (about 20 mins ago now actually) so i will be in bed soon enough.
i tried out the babylove nappies and am happy to say that they lasted through an explosive poo episode, so i may have found a replacement for huggies :fingerscrossed: so i will see how they go tomorrow.
I ran into a member from my mothers group today while Cassidy and i were out doing the grocery shopping and i have been invited to a meet up at her place next monday.
Other than that not much going on.
penny - sounds like you had a great day out. Bit of a bargain with the printer!! Oh and K is such a good boy, what an angel!
Sandy - re visitors, i have always made a point of asking them to call before they arrive, and it seems to work (except when they speak to DP and he forgets to mention it until they are pulling up in the driveway  ) They went through a stage when Cassi was born where they would just turn up but i put my foot down and now they know not to do it. Stick to your guns.
Hels - Hope Reece starts to behave for you again soon. :hugs: Feel better soon
anyway, bed time for me. DP is playing xbox so im going to have to bury my head under the pillow so i can go to sleep... Night!

8pm til 6am!!
i woke up with a huge fright this morning when it hit me he'd gone the whole night i thought omg is he still alive!
i half woke up a few times in the night but didnt look at the clock!
dp was so excited this morning- kissing me going "OMG he slept right through" he was so shocked he even said "you didnt get up and i slept through it did you??"
what a celebration! what a fantastic thing!
((((((it is the first time EVER!))))
last week we rang the ABA to get advice on how to drop a feed in the night.
i was at breaking point. i was ready to knock off dp. i was thinking of all the woderful destinations i could go to without a baby! id had enough of b/feeding day and night 3 hourly! i was a walking zombie!
i was armed with a tin of formula, more teats and i waited for dp to have some hours off work so he could try with a bottle/spout/cup/straw, anything, so i could once and for all quit but nope-this baby of ours would NOT drink it...after another 8 hour stand off i b/fed him, i later tried him with the lid of a bottle, like a cup and he drank 50ml...and yet he still didnt sleep longer that night.
the next day i fed him more often and that night he went 5 hours!
the next night he was crying after 4 hours...
and just when i was thinking it wasnt going to work he did 6 hours sleep one night ....and then this!!
we have had a wonderful week. with full on celebrations for ds birthday. all the pics are in my zoints. also on the top line in there, there is a link saying "birthday party"
got to go do school run. just wanted to share this news!

Only a day in getting to know you girls and i'm about to let loose. Well what a night, DH has been away for work all week and Elly (DD2) has decided to be the worst she has been for ages. Coupled together that the whole household has a cold!!
It started yesterday morning when after being unsettled from a feed at 1am i feed her again at 5.00. She settled pretty well then decided to sleep until 8.30am. Woke up happy had a feed a good play and a snooze in her swing. When she woke and maintained her happiness i let her go. We headed out about 11.15am and she had a feed at 12.00ish, a little play then a sleep in the pram and in the car on the way home. Wrapped her and down to bed when home about 1.45pm and she sleept until 4.30. Woke up happy had a feed/play and was back in bed just before 6.00pm. (those tired signs very evident) Woke just after 7.00pm because she had poohed!! Thouhgt that would not be too bad as i could get another feed in around 7.30pm which she had. Was asleep in my arms by 8.30pm. Wrapped her an was in bed by 8.45pm. I was desperate for a little me time but pressed the record button for Prison Break and tried to get some sleep. By 11.15pm she was stirring, i tried re-settling for a bit then decided to feed her around 12.15am. Back in bed at 1.00am and took forever to go back to sleep. 3.15am Elly decideds to wake, couldn't be hungry surely?? Attempt to re settle get a few power snoozes in and finally at 5.00am decide to feed again. BY now the neighbours dogs are going bezerk, DD1 is stirring from the noise (poor darling) and I contemplate not even going back to bed. Elly settles about 6.15am and Mia jumps into bed with me, "morning Mummy, i'm awake now, can i please have my milk"!!!
So this has been Elly's pattern for the past 3 nights/days. She is so calm and cruisy during the day, feed/play/sleep with no unsetled moments and all over the place at night. Surely she hasn't gone backwards in realtion to night/days, she had that worked out.
She is wrapped and somehow gets ut of that at time too.
Sorry this is all about us but with DH away and no one in town i really know it's you guys that hear all of this.
I do look forward to contributing my MIL stories though. They really are in a league of their own. Well most of them most of the time!!

Hi Kay, thanx for the intro.
I'm Marianne, i'm yet to add much detail about us, 1) due to time and 2) due to lack of ability!! Although i doubt i should whinge about time when you have 5 darlings to care for.

I forgot say hi to the Newbies lastnight... so an even bigger hi from me this morning !!!! Take a seat and make yourself comfortable. This is a great group of girls we've got here and I hope you can find the friendship and support that the rest of us have found...
Juzzy - I've also started experimenting with BabyLove nappies. The ultimate test was when we were out and about yesterday and at one stage I didn't get to change Kaelan's nappy for several hours. I thought he had a Huggies on so I wasn't too concerned... but when I went to change him, I discovered that he actually had a BabyLove on.... I'm happy to report that it didn't leak. My bestie only uses BabyLove nappies on her son and she seems quite happy with them... I'll see how they go :)
my_lot - welcome back !! So, so very happy to hear that Eli slept through the night. You must feel like a new woman now that you've actually had some sleep :)
As for me, well nothing new to report since lastnight. I actually have nothing planned today so I might take this opportunity to try to get the house cleaned up a bit.... Although there was something that I wanted in the Big W catalogue that starts today, so I may have to make a small trip there as well. Can't keep a good shopper down !! (if only I had an endless supply of money :) )

my_lot - YAYAYAYAY!!! :smiliedance: I'm so happy for you! You must feel wonderful! I hope he keeps it up!
Hels - BIG :hugs: I know exactly how you feel...it is SO stressful. I'm glad your DH has helped you out a bit. I've started waking mine in the night now instead of going it alone. I'm sure it's just a phase and Reece will be back to his usual happy self in no time :)
Sandy - Your doing the right thing! 100%! Don't feel guilty...if you let them come without calling it will turn into something bigger. I know from my ILS if I give them and inch they take a mile!
US - Well we had a better night....he slept from 7pm-3am. Yesterday was a complete fizzer with the re-setlting. I think it just made both of us more stressed. The most I got out of him was an extra 40 minutes sleep but that was after 45 minutes of crying and grizzling. At least it's not affecting his development...Last week when he rolled over I thought it could have been a fluke but he's done it everyday this week. He's also been grabbing at toys and putting them up to his mouth. It's so much fun to watch him explore new things....
RE - Tummy Time.....I think the jury is still out on whether it helps with crawling. Mon - do you tuck Liam's elbows under his body a bit? This really helped Jack keep his head up a bit longer
Blubber - Looking forward to getting to know you

Hels - I hope Reece slept for you last night -- l could feel your exhaustion through your post!
My_lot- l was thinking of you last night - l was worried you had gotten offended somewhere along the line and dropped off - so glad to hear that you are still around and SOOOOOOOO happy for you that Eli slept through the night!!! That is fantastic!!! I am pretty wrapped that Coen slept 8 hours straight 7.30-3.30am and he is back asleep again now... we are still having our wind episode but it was less dramatic then other nights...
For those b'feeding mums -- on advice from ABA -and my own personal experience - if you cluster feed at night bubs tend to sleep longer - that basically means feed them as often as they will take it in the lead up to their bed time... (l know lots of babies are sleeping a lot longer than Coen - but 8 hours for him is absolutely fantastic -- if l could just get rid of the wind now l would be the happiest woman!!!)
Blubber - Those constant wake ups can be so exhausting - particularly when it takes a long time to settle them back to sleep -- how are you feeling today???
I hope everyone has a great day today - and for those of you making your way to Mothers Play in Melbourne tomorrow - can't wait to see you there!!
My mum's coming over today - hopefully l can convince her to pretend that l am not here and let me have some me time... problem is it works really well when Coen is up (very happy to ignore me then) but as soon as he goes to sleep she wants to :ecomcity: ... and given that in a given 3 hour period l am feeding for 40 minutes that doesn't really give me much time.. l would love to get some practice in on the piano, oh wouldn't it be fantastic to read a book???? l think she is here... better head off
Have a great one ladies!!!

Lauren - we must have been posting at the same time! Glad you had a better night with Jack last night -- sounds like we would have been up around the same time... I have pretty much given up on getting Coen to sleep more than 45 minutes at a time... perhaps l should try more...
How fantastic that Jack is consistently rolling over (coen's was definitely a fluke - he hasn't done it again yet), maybe in another week of two Coen will be doing the same!!!
That's one of the fantastic parts about this thread... cos Coen is fairly young l get to hear about all the development that your bubs go through and l have something to look forward to -- it works the other way too though sometimes - l have things (like teething -- btw how is that going Penny??) that l dread...
