View Full Version : Paper towel as a flushable liner?

I've managed cloth on one bub while at my parents in the past, but never on two in a hotel that will see my nappies and bucket and think I'm a crazy woman:D
Ronan still has a box of sposies from months ago, so he'll wear those while Ariene wears all the MCN's. We are going to be away for two nights and I have just enough nappies to last that whole time with one bub only (won't wash). Ariene's skin reacts badly to disposables so it's Ronan who will wear them. And he is starting to prefer the toilet now anyway :smiliedance:
Anyway, I don't have flushable liners- has anyone tried cutting up kitchen/paper towel (especially the stuff that's meant to be strong when wet) and used this instead?
Oh how dependant I've become on my Little Squirt

Anyone? I need to improvise here
DH just suggested using the spa jets to clean poopy nappies  ... but methinks this is not a flash idea

ouch!!!
Wouldnt that be a bit rough on the bum?
Why not buy some liners that you can flush?
Or some cheap polarfleece ones?
Go to spotlight or somewhere and buy some fleece and cut some up just for this occassion...
Personally I wouldnt use paper towel!!

Geeze, I dunno if it would be strong enough. I think it would just fall apart. You can get some online from ecobaby. They are pretty quick.
Have a great time away btw :)

If you get really stuck, I have a couple of rolls of them - I could send you a couple of days supply. Let me know.

I have fleece and I use it all the time, but Ariene is breastfed and her poop ain't rolling off into the loo! It's a messy, sticky ordeal about 2-4 times a day here (not including Ronan's nappies).
I just checked out this paper- Handee Ultra I think it is, and it feels about as soft/rough as the disposable ones.
I'm going away on tuesday so no time to order and recieve flushable ones online....

This is so sweet of you :) I'd take you up on this if I wasn't going away the day after tomorrow!!

I wouldnt be game enough to flush that thick paper towel, I do think that it would work, but probably better off to put it in the bin.

Paper towel is not flushable, my poor DH found this out when night when I was sick everywhere and unable to get out of bed! :o
It took MANY flushes to finally get rid of it and I think we were lucky not to have to call the plumber!
You can get Wiggles flushable wipes at Coles that you could let dry out and use???

but if you got fleece cheap enough couldnt you just use and throw out? put them in a smelly sack and throw them out...
I wouldnt want to risk bub's bottom if he/she reacts to disposables.. she/he could react to the paper towel too...

Ooo thanks for saving me from potentially making a huge embarassment of myself!!

Good point- didn't think about this. She also reacts to wipes (among other things) so I think I'll give paper towel a miss :)

Your poor little girl... she must have a very sensitive bottom...hope it all goes well.
Couldn't you just sleuce the liners in the toilet?
there are flushable wet wipes that are specifically for wiping your bottom with...lol would they be good enough. or as a previous poster said the wiggles ones are also flushable and you can get them at woolies also, not just coles.

Nah, too many chemicals for a very sensitive bot-bot..
But good thinking all the same.
Gremily, if anything could come off just by dunking in the loo, then that's what I'd be happily doing, but this stuff is like concrete slush- and she does it a few times a day!:barf:
I'm off to get some of those flushable liners and will keep them just for when I don't have a Little Squirt around  I'll rinse off any remaining dregs in the loo as best as I can :)
Thanks everyone!!
