On my nappy load today, our machine died.... turns out warranty expired 2 weeks ago, so we will try our best, but we may be without a machine for a bit.

So - Please help... How do i hand wash? I know this is daft, but i havent had to before. Im mainly concerned about washing my nappies... Is there things i need to know?

I dont have a car at the moment so i cant go to a laundrymat either... Grrrr, it doesnt rain - it pours...

Bek I have no idea but I just wanted to say, bugger, :fingerscrossed: something gets sorted out soon.

Only advice I have is to wear gloves if using regular washing power... that stuff will eat your skin:eek:

I would do it in the bathtub for a larger load... water, agitate, rinse, water... agitate alot with washing powder. You can stand in the tub and stomp, stop, stomp, leave to soak, rinse, agitate, rinse till no soapy residue. I had to hand wash for a few weeks - but it was before bubs, so no nappies!!

Poor thing :hugs:

Sorry this is O/T, but Ikis, in your sig, how it's alink when you click on the 6000? Well you should make the 25 a link too, and when you click on it it goes to a shot of a stash of 25 funky nappies :D

OMG, you really really appreciate technology when you dont have it! It took me a fair chunk of my morning to do the washing, and i have serious doubts if it will dry in time to bring in today...

Anyone got any wringing out tips? Our clothes line doesnt get enough sun through the day, so even with QLD weather i think im going to struggle... Well i did have a fair bit to do today...

And EWWWW the water! I couldnt see the bottom of the bath!! I didnt think our things got THAT dirty!

I'd be trying to get a lift to the laundry mat. :fingerscrossed: You get it sorted out. My washing machine broke recently, we went that afternoon to get a new one, and had it delivered the next day :smiliedance:

No deposit interest free is the best

Can you use your next door neighbours?? My washing machine died a couple of weeks before I had my son (and although it was under warrenty - they couldnt fix it for a few months!!), I went next door - explained my situation and they were more than happy to let me use their washing machine.

With handwashing, id say little and often. Maybe do iit twice a day. Knickers and bra etc wash in the shower, just grab some sunlight soap. Hang them over the shower and they will dry. Least you'll have clean knickers!!!

You'll need ot account for longer drying times, because you cant wring them out as well as the washing machine does.

www.freecycle.org (possibly .au??) look for your local freecycle and ask if anyone has a washing macine that works that they are looking at getting rid of.

Hand washing is the pitts when dh and i first moved in together we had to hand wash i found using a towel to wring things out a great help just wring them out by hand as much as you can then lay the towel out and put 1 or 2 items on it more if they are small like undies and bubs clothes then roll them up in the towel and keep twisting and twisting till you can twist it no more you may use a few towels doing this but it helps get a bit more of the water out and make drying quicker. Just wondering if you have motor burn out on your insurance if so it might be worth finding out if it is covered on that. Hope you get a new machine soon.

Nope, not on insurance... But we are ringing the company tomorrow, as it is only JUSt out of it (2 weeks ago !) and where we bought it from said they would probably come to the party and help...

I did what would have been 3 loads, and it pretty much all dried, i was surprised - It was a heck of a work out tho, something ill have to keep on top of till we sort it out. There is a laundrymat down at the corner shops, so i could do that - but i just dont have the time to sit there during the day with G, and not when hubby gets home. So it may just have to be handwashing for now.

Both sets of neighbours would prob be cool with lending their machines, but since i have alot to do with G in full time cloth, id rather just whinge and moan and handwash then feel like i was a burden on them...
