hi
just wondering how other mums cut their little ones finger nails? dd is 3 months old and has super long nails and keeps scratching herself  i'm worried she is going to scratch her eye and do some serious damage.....so how do/did u keep your bubs nails short?

I use baby nail clippers and do it while they are sleeping.
Thanks for the reminder actually, will go do Troys now.
I either break them off or use baby nail clippers... When I use the clippers I get either daddy or Poppy to hold her and I cut them while they cuddle, have only managed to hold her and cut them myself once, straight after a feed... She moves too much in her sleep!!
I use the baby nail clippers too. Best time for me is straight after a feed when he's full of food and relaxed.

i used curve manicure scissors for DS1.... but they went blunt, so now use baby clippers for both of them
and i do it while he's on the change table looking at his mobile
my nana picked them up for me.. so not sure where she got them from (chemist shoudl tho)

I use the curve scissors too, I am to scared that I will but him with the clippers.
I just use the softer side of my emery board, very gently and use every couple of days to keep them down.

I used to use baby clippers, then I lost them somewhere, so have been using our clippers. The best way I've found is to have DD sitting on my lap, wacthing TV or holding a toy. I then lift one hand up at a time while I cut them. Couldn't do it while she was asleep, she slept too lightly. It's annoying how fast they grow, I have to do DD's every week or two.

DDs right hand i do when ever i notice she needs them cut....i just sit her on my lap while she has her eyes fixed on the TV.
her left hand i have to do while she is drinking her bottle, she sucks her thumb and is very very possessive about that hand :p
i have always biten bubbys nails, and still do, when hes in the bath and they are nice and soft! then i know i cant cut him and he giggles like crazy when i bite them!
I have always used some tiny nail scissors to keep DS's short. If it's the difficulty factor you are having trouble with, I use to do it when he was asleep, then we progressed to sitting on the verandah & I did it while he was distracted by the cars going past, or out in the bck yard so our dogs could distract him. Now I usually do it while we are reading a book together, again while his attention is focused elsewhere!
I'm very lucky, because Mitch is facinated by the whole cutting nails thing. I use clippers, and he sits and watches me with great interest. But when he was a newborn I bit them off.

I file them. Have done so since she was a tiny bub. I have a pair of baby clippers but she just won't keep her hands still so they are no good. I usually put the telly on for 5 minutes to distract her and then I file away!

I was always told that it's better to cut them off with baby nail clippers &/or file nails rather than chew them because you can pull the nail back too far.
Have always used baby clippers. Just sit DS on my lap facing outwards. Hold his hand firmly in mine and cut away. Not a big deal, just move quickly. DS nails grow so fast I am doing them every week and he is so used to it.

i always have ds on my lap facing away from me and then i cut them
I'm scared to do it - I've cut DS with clippers and with the emery board (nothing like making your baby bleed to feel like a bad mother). My DH does them now while I feed, he has a better track record than me.

I use nail clippers, they say for bubs over 6 months but I use them anyway and they work well
