View Full Version : Co-sleeping when you're not in the room!
Just wondering those-without-cots where does bubby sleep during the day and at night when you're not in bed yet?
We put Cobes in his cot and normally transfer him to our bed when we go there - but in the morning if we wake up first we just leave him in our bed because he's fallen off that many times that he's worked out not to go near the edge :shame:
What do you do?

We have a sidecar one side of the bed, bedrails on the other. There are gaps down near the bottom but tbh the cot is full of toys so DS usually just crawls over into his sidecar cot. He tends to make some noises when he first wakes up- talking to himself or calling out for us or boobie.
I put him there for all his sleeps, he rolls out of the sidecar into our bed if we try putting him to sleep in it, and sleeps in our bed anyhow
So far he hasn't fallen out yet, he tends to only try crawling off when we are there, otherwise I think I kinda have a sixth sense about these things because whever I think I should go check if he is awake, he is stirring or just blinking awake as I get there....:D
I put her in her cot in the morning for the rest of her sleep and in the day time if I don't nap with her she's in her cot.
On the floor!!
yes yes I know . . Im such a bad mum ..
She sleeps on a pile of blankets on the bedroom floor. Its also easier for me to put ehr back to sleep with the boobie that way

We have a big foam mattress in our loungeroom, we eat on it, we play on it, we lounge on it and that is where DS sleeps in the day and also where I put him to sleep at night before we take him into bed with us.
He never sleeps in another room. He is asleep right now and I can see him always...I like it that way.

DD and DS always just slept in our bed regardless of if we were in there or not!! DS has a nap at about 1 and I lay with him and just sneak out!!

I have the cot mattress on the floor in the lounge room. He sleeps there during the day, and at "bedtime" (ie around 8pm) when he falls asleep I put him there too. Then the next time he wakes up (around 11-midnight) that's when we both go to bed. Sometimes though I do put him in my bed during the day, if I've got visitors or if I need to vaccuum. He knows how to get off the bed safely (feet first) and he is safe in my bed, but my bedroom is not "babyproof" and he destroys things very quickly. So I'd rather him be in the lounge room which is totally babyproof (except now he has worked out how to climb up onto the rocking chair and STAND ON IT )
So, my point is, we used to side-car but he always snuggled up to me anyway, so I stuck the cot out in the back room, and the cot mattress went on the floor for him to sleep on. It works brilliantly.
On his Spiderman fold-out sofa in the loungeroom. He is never in another room from me. When I go to bed I scoop him up and off we go.
Aah Cobey has a Thomas the Tank flip out sofa.. he only sleeps on there when I'm too lazy to take him into his room
our beds are just matresses on the floor now, so if he does roll off, its not very far!
Most of the time Riley falls asleep on the boob while Im bubhubbing. Then I either put him in his toddler bed or on our bed.He never falls out of bed when hes alone, yet can when we are there:rolleyes:
When he wakes up,he gets off the bed and runs down the hallway to me.
