 How are you?
This thread is for slow cooker recipes ONLY! Another thread will be created for discussion/feedback.
I've pinched (and 'quoted') all the recipes from the other thread. So you no longer have to trawl through the other thread just for the recipes! Yay!
Please post ONLY RECIPES in this thread.
Cheers and, your welcome!

Sweet and Sour Meatballs
Meatballs
1 kilo mince
3 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 cup dry breadcrumbs
in a bowl combine all above ingredients and form into small (2cm) balls
you can either shallow fry these to brown the outside or put them on a tray and bake in 180 oven for 15 mins
Arrange these in the Crock Pot
Sauce
1 tin pinapple pieces
1 1/2 cups of water
3 tablespoons tomato sauce
2 tablespoons cornflour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon brown vinegar
combine juice from pineapple and cornflour then add all other ingreidents
(I just taste it and see what i think maybe add a bit more of whichever you think it needs)
Pour this over the Meatballs and cook on low for 6 - 8 hours
Serve with rice, The kids love this one too :smiliedance:
Bolognaise Sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 kilo mince
2 onions diced
3 cloves garlic or 1 tablespoon crushed garlic (even more if you love garlic like me)
2 x 410g tins diced roma tomatoes
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
1 cup of beef stock made with beef stock powder
heat oil in frypan and cook onions and garlic until tender, then add mince and brown
Put this in the Crock Pot and add all other ingriedients give it a quick stir cover and cook for 6-8hrs on low
serve with your favourite pasta and shaved parmesan cheese
This is also a winner with the kids and the best thing is it lasts us 2 nights :smiliedance:
Spice Lamb Casserole
1 onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, crushed
2cm piece ginger, grated
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground cumin
2 tbs plain flour
1.2 kgs diced lamb shoulder or leg (although given the price of lamb I often use less - probably closer to the 800gm mark)
2 carrots, peeled and sliced
2 tbs tomatos paste
100ml red wine
1L lamb or beef stock (although I actually normally only use about 500ml - dn't want it too sloppy)
2 tbs quince paste (optional extra really)
2 tbs flat leaf parsley (optional extra too!)
Olive oil
Cook onion in a large fry pan with a splash of olive oil for about 5 minutes on medium heat, then add garlic and ginger and fry for a few seconds, then remove from pan.
Combine spices with flour in a bowl, then dust lamb with the mixture to coat. Keep the left over flour mixture. With another splash of oil in the pan, cook the lamb in batches until browned, then put all the lamb and onion and remaining flour in the pan, add carrots, paste, wine, stock and enough water to cover (I normally find that only about 2 cups of stock is enough to cover) bring it to the boil then transfer to the crock pot and let it all simmer away for a few hours. (you can skip the bringing it to the boil step and just put it all straight into the crock pot too!) Just before you serve the lamb you can stir through the quince paste and parsley.

Chicken Parisienne
(serves 6)
6 medium chicken breasts or chicken pieces
salt, pepper and paprika to taste
1/2 cup dry white wine or vermouth
1 can condensed cream of chicken soup
1 small can mushrooms sliced (drained)
1 cup sour cream
Sprinkle chicken breasts lightly with salt, pepper and paprika. Place chicken breasts in the crock pot. mix white wine, soup, mushrooms and sour cream until well combined and pour over the chicken breasts. Sprinkle with paprika, cover and cook on low for 6 - 8 hours, or high for 4 - 6 hours. 30 minutes before serving thoroughly blend in the sour cream. Stir occasionally. Serve the sauce over rice or noodles.
This is best in a big cooker - if you have a smaller one you might have trouble getting the 4 shanks in - I have been known to sit a weighted bread board on top of the lid to keep it closed! Haven't tried it on the kids but the adults have always loved it!
Spiced Lamb Shanks
4 lamb shanks
sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon ground coriander seeds
1 small dried red chilli crushed (or 2 teaspoons chopped fresh chilli)
1 tablespoon fresh rosemary
1 teaspoon dried marjoram or oregano
1 tablesppon flour
olive oil
1 clove garlic crushed
1 large carrot, finely diced
6 sticks of celery quartered and finely sliced
2 medium onions, quartered and finely chopped
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
170 ml dry white wine
6 anchovy fillets
1 x 400g tinsn of tomatoes
1 handfu fresh basil or flat leaf parsley roughly chopped
Season lamb with salt and pepper. Mix coriander rosemary and marjoram and chilli and roll lamb in mixture then dust labm with flour. In large pan heat 1 tblspn olive oil and brown the meat on all sides then place in crock pot. In fry pan sweat garlic, carrot, celery, onions and salt until soft, add vinegar and allow all to reduce to syrup, pour in white wine and let simmer for 2 minutes. Pute mixture, anchovies, tomatoes in crock pot with lamb then cook on low for 7 - 8 hours or high for 4 -5 hours. Skim off any fat and stir in fresh herbs before serving.
Fruity Lamb Casserole
1/2kg cubed lamb
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp ground cumin
2 tsp olive oil
1 med red onion, finely chopped
1 garlic clove, crushed
400g can chopped tomatoes
2 tbs tomato paste
125g dried apricots
1 tsp caster sugar
300ml (1 1/4 cups) vegetable stock
salt & pepper
fresh coriander
Place the meat in a mixing bowl and add the spices & oil. Coat the lamb in the spices.
Brown the spiced lamb in a fry pan for 4 /5 minutes. Remove the lamb & place in the cooker. In the same frying pan, cook the onion, garlic, tomatoes & tomato paste for 5 minutes. Season to taste. To this mix, add the apricots & sugar, and the stock and bring to the boil. Then spoon the mix over the lamb. Mix well. Cover & cook away - in a normal oven for 1 hour, removing the lid for the last 10 minutes, so adjust the times for your slow cooker.
Roughly chop the fresh coriander & serve with rice, or steamed couscous.
Always dElicious!
Try it - you'll love it ... those plumped up apricots with the sweet, spicy lamb will keep you coming back for more.

I made Lasagne in the slow cooker last week,:chef:
just browned my mince and onion stirred though a jar of past sauce( I like five brothers portabello mushrooms and garlic)
layered meat, lasagne sheets and white sauce(with cheese) in the slow cooker. I finished with white sauce with a bit of cheese sprinkled on top
and turner it on low for about 6 - 8 hrs
it turned out great, like a slow baked italian restaraunt one, even my eldest daughter who wont normally eat lasagne ate it.
Stew
2 carrots peeled and sliced chunky
2 potatoes peeled and diced
1/2 sweet potato peeled and diced
1/2 cup peas
1/2 cup beans
1 can butter mushrooms
1 can diced tomatoes
1 packet of 'Hot Pot' casserole base (I use the curry one)
500g diced steak
Chuck everything in the crock pot (chuck the meat in raw). Give it a stir. Turn pot on by 12 noon and dinner is ready by 6pm. I usually give it a stir a couple of times a day as I walk past it. Damn I love my crock pot, lol.
I need a bigger pot now because I have trouble fitting dumplings in this pot, and DH love dumplings. I hate making them so I usually make up a big batch of the dough and freeze it in portions and then just defrost it when I need it. Don't put the dumpling dough in until the stew is boiling though, or you'll just end up with slop, lol (speaking from experience  ). If you want the recipe for the dumplings dough let me know and I'll post it.
Bon Apetite gals :chef:

Here's another great recipe site - http://search.allrecipes.com/recipe/quick.aspx?q1=slow+cooker&qwt=2&siteid=52&srt=1 There's like 200 slow cooker recipies but you can narrow down your search. I found the site the other day!
I kind of made the recipe up as I went along so Im not sure of exact measurements, but I'll give it a go! Its a very basic recipe but it tastes great. (good dinner the day before pay day iykwim!)
Chicken & Sweet Corn Risotto
500g chicken breast (cubed)
Can creamed corn
Small can corn kernals
2 cups of aborio rice
2 cups chicken stock
Packet of creamy chicken and vegies soup (made up in 1 1/2 cups of water)
Salt and Pepper to taste
(I think that was it?!)
Add it all into the slow cooker.
Cook on High/Fast (my slowcooker was on 2 setting) until chicken and rice are cooked through.
You'll need to regularly check the risotto to keep adding more water as its cooking.
Yummo! :chef:

I make soup in my slow cooker - just bung all the leftover vegies from the week, add 1/2 cup of red lentils, a large onion, garlic, 1 cup of vegie stock and a tin or 2 of chopped tomatoes (depending on how big your pot is) and top up with water. It's a bit of a mish-mash but it's sooooooooo yummy!!!
Also I'm putting my mother-in-law's Swiss Steak in too as I'm taking most of the recipes from this site to try out over the next wee while - it's only fair that I give something tasty back :)
Swiss Steak
500g of chuck steak
1 tin of condensed tomato soup
1 large onion
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of vinegar
1 teaspoon of mustard (any type that you prefer, I use dijon)
Basically throw it all into the slow cooker (meat raw) stir around and cook on low for 6-7 hours. So yummy with rice!!
Steak with Plum & Sesame Sauce

1 jar of plum and sesame sauce or whatever flavour you like
same amount of water

put the steak, onion and garlic on the top of the vegies and tip in bottle of sauce and water

Hi
Lamb Shanks
i'm a chuck together and hope for the best cook so there are no real measurements.
Lamb shanks
2 red wine sachets
chicken stock to cover the shanks
soup mix pack- found with the can soups in the supermarket
selection of veges
served with rice
Hope this helps
PS the wine stinks abit when it starts to heat but it is worth it
1 can cream of....... soup (I've used cream of corn, cream of mushroom) OR use a jar of stir fry sauce (haven't done that yet but will try it next time)
1-1.5kg chicken (drumsticks, wings, any)
As many vegies as you like, chopped.
Any extras you like, garlic, ginger, herbs, spices, etc
Chuck in vegies and extras, chicken then soup. Cook for 3-4 hrs on high or ideally 6-8 hrs on low. That's it!! Easy Peasy!
My DD2 who's almost 10mths absolutely loves it as it goes so soft and is easily mashed.
Burgundy Beef Stew
Ingredients:
1.5 kg stewing beef ( I used gravy beef)
175g lean salt pork or thick cut rindless streaky bacon (I used smoked speck - god I love that stuff :D
3 Tbsp butter
350g baby onions (I just used regular onions and quartered them)
350 grams small button mushrooms
1 onion, finely chopped
1 carrot, finely chopped
3 garlic gloves, finely chopped
3 tbsp plain flour
3 tbsp cornflour mixed with water (I found I needed this to thicken it up using the slow cooker)
750ml (one full bottle) of red wine, preferably bergundy (I used a Beaujolias, which is a little lighter then a true burgundy wine)
1 1/2 tbsp tomato puree
bouquet garni (3 stalks parsely, 1 stalk thyme, 1 bay leaf all tied together with a peice of string)
3 cups beef stock
1 tbsp fresh parsely
salt and freshing ground pepper
Method:
1. cut the beef into 5cm peices and dice the speck/salt pork or cut the bacon into thin strips
2. Cook the pork or bacon over a medium heat until golden brown then remove with a slotted spoon and drain (once drained transfer to the slow cooker - after you have added the beef). Pour off all but 2 tbsp of the fat from the pan.
3. Increase the heat to medium high and brown the beef - until all sides are well browned (but dont overcook them). Transfer the beef to the slow cooker (but don't turn it on yet)
4. Melt 1/3 of the butter over a medium heat, add the baby onions and cook, stirring frequently, until evenly golden. Transfer to the slow cooker.
5. In the same pan, melt half of the remaining butter over a medium heat. Add the mushrooms and sautee, stirring frequently until golden. Transfer to the slow cooker.
6. Melt the remaining butter in the pan. Add the chopped onion, carrot and garlic and cook over a medium heat for 3-4 minutes until just softened, stirring frequently. Sprinkle over the plain flour and cook for 2 minutes, then add the wine, tomato puree, and bouquet garni. Bring to the boil, scraping the base of the pan.
7. Transfer everything from the pan into the slow cooker.
8. Set the slow cooker to low and wait :) (for me it took about 9-10 hours - I was keen to get the meat really soft. I also read in my manual that for a dish that generally takes 3 hours simmering in a saucepan - which this particular dish does - that you can cook it for up to 12 hours)
9. During the last hour add cornflour mixed with water to thicken it up if required.
edit: I found that leaving it overnight in the fridge prior to eating worked best. It helped turn it into a rich gravy sauce. Whereas during cooking it still had a very winey flavour and was a bit thinner.

Now my friend who gave me the recipe, pre cooks nothing, not even sauce or onion, she just chucks it all in Crock Pot and never has any complaints, so the choice is yours

All Day Macaroni & Cheese
2 cups macaroni
4 cups grated cheese
1 can evaporated milk
1 1/2 cups milk
2 eggs
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
In a large pot cook macaroni pasta until al dente. Drain. In a large bowl, mix together 3 cups of the cheese, cooked macaroni, evaporated milk, milk, eggs, and salt and pepper.
Transfer to a slow cooker which has been coated with non-stick cooking spray. Sprinkle with the remaining 1 cup of cheese.
Cook on LOW for 5 to 6 hours, or until the mixture is firm and golden around the edges. Do not remove the cover or stir the mixture until the mixture has finished cooking.
Roast Chicken
You just need a chook, a pack of french onion soup mix (the generic one is fine), and 2 lemons
Pat the chook dry, rub the soup mix into the chicken all over to give it colour.
Stick one whole unpeeled lemon in it's bum (poke some holes in the lemon with a fork to let the aroma out). This is optional - still tastes great without it we just like it.
Cut the remaining lemon into quarters and place in bottom of SC. Place chooky on top and cook for about 6 hours on low.
Easy as, even DH can do this. We've also used oranges for something different
Beef Stroganoff
500g chuck steak cubed
1 onion roughly diced
1 satchet beef strog flavour mix (Maggi, McCormicks, whatever)
1 tin tomatoes
3/4 tub sour cream
Put everything into SC except sour cream. Cook for 6 hours on low.
1/2 hour before serving stir in sour cream to taste
Serve with pasta or rice
YUM
Osso Bucco
Buy a packet of Continental osso bucco mix, then loosely follow directions. Brown lamb shanks in pan first, then add onion, garlic, tomatoes, packet mix and water. Cut up veges (I used potato, carrot, sweet potato) and put in base of cooker, then put lamb shanks on top and drizzle the tomato and onion mixture over the top. I added a bit more water to help cover the veges. Cooked it for about 7 hours and it was delicious!
Lemon, Garlic & Rosemary Chicken
Under the skin of the breast of the chook place a mixture of rosemary (I used dried herbs) and butter. Place some cloves of garlic and slices of lemon inside bird as well as around the cooker. Place an oven proof plate in base of cooker for bird to sit on... if it's raised it seems to work better. Put a splash of white wine and chicken stock in the cooker (and baste the chook). And then I left it to cook 10 hours (probably a bit too long, but I went shopping and needed to get it done early this morning).... regardless, the chicken tasted juicy and so tender. I don't think it's possible to burn anything in a slow cooker!
PS. My slow cooker is the Avance Breville 5 litre Meal Maker - cost $59.95 at the Myer sale. And I think it was worth every cent!
Crockpot Chicken Breasts & Bacon
4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves

Wrap one uncooked bacon slice around each chicken piece and put them in crockpot.
Mix sour cream, undiluted cream of chicken soup and flour and pour over chicken.
Cook on low 6 to 7 hours.
Serve with rice or potatoes.

2 cans of home brand coconut cream
1 cup of water

SIMPLE SWISS STEAK
INGREDIENTS:
• 200g lean bacon
• 1 kg gravy beef (about 1/2-inch thick)
• Salt and pepper
• 1 Tablespoon minced garlic
• 6-8 medium-size potatoes sliced
• 2 large sweet onions sliced

In slow cooker layer bacon across the bottom, rub the meat with seasonings and garlic, place in cooker over the bacon, then layer potatoes (sprinkled with salt and pepper) and onions alternately; add mushrooms, then pour in the tomatoes and sauce, cover and cook on high 4-6 hours or low 8-12 hours. Or until the meat and potatoes are fork tender.
I got this recipe off the net. I added on top of the can of mushrooms about 6 fresh chopped mushrooms.
When mixing the tomato ingredients i added mixed herbs, some tomato paste and tomato sauce. Its in the cooker now and it looks so yummo!

Potato Bake
1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup (or 1 can cream of chicken plus 1 sachet cream of mushroom cup-a-soup)
½ cup milk
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon pepper
5 medium baking potatoes (about 600g), sliced 1/4-inch thick
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (I used a bit more)
1 medium onion, diced
6 rashers bacon, trimmed and diced
For the slow cooker/Crock Pot:
1. Mix soup(s), paprika and pepper. In a lightly greased slow
cooker/Crock Pot, arrange potatoes in overlapping rows. Sprinkle with cheese, onion and bacon. Continue layering like this until you run out of potatoes (about 3 layers) .
Spoon soup mixture over the last layer of cheese.
2. Cover and cook on high for 3 to 4 hours, until
potatoes are tender. Keep warm (on low) for serving. Serves 6. I scraped down the sides of the cooker every hour so it didn’t stick.
For the oven:
Follow directions above, placing ingredients in greased 2-quart shallow baking dish. Cover and bake at 400°F. for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake 10minutes more or until potatoes are tender.
We had this last night and DP gave it 2 thumbs up. It's a real cheapie too.

Raz's Tomato Beef Stew (this is a favourite that we have every week)
1kg diced beef (I normally dice my own its cheaper)
1 can chopped tomatoes (I like to buy the flavoured ones)
1 clove garlic
Big big sprinkle of Moroccan seasoning
Half a bag of frozen mixed vegies (or do lots of fresh ones)
500gm mushrooms sliced
1 capsicum sliced
1 can of corn kernels
1 onion sliced
salt and pepper to taste
Put all ingredients in the slow cooker. Cook on high for the 1st hour, then on slow or auto (whichever one you have) for the remaining 6 - 7 hours. Sometimes for the last hour I put it on high again.
I check it throughout the day for taste. If it needs more seasoning or salt and pepper I add it.
No need to add any water, it makes lots of juice.
Serve it with rice or mashed potato

I know the addition of prunes may freak some out but it really is delish
2 TB oil
1.25kg diced Beef (I use the cheapest cut I can find as it aways comes out really tender)
1 med onion diced
2 cloves garlic crushed
1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp ground tumeric
1 1/2 tsp sweet paprika
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp coriander seeds
1/2 TB ground cinnamon
2 cups beef stock
100g pitted prunes
2 TB honey
1 tsp grated orange rind
Fry onion until golden brown and then add all the spices and cook for another minute to release the flavour. Blend in a small amount of stock to loosen the mixture from the pan.
Place meat and onion/spice mixture into pot and add remaining stock. Cover and cook on low 7-8 hours or high 4 hours.
Stir in prunes, honey and orange 1 hour before end of cooking. Serve with cous cous

I don't do exact measurements..sorry!
Diced chuck steak or gravy beef
1 onion - diced
garlic
Brown onion, meat and garlic in a pan. Add salt and pepper.
Put it in the slow cooker with red wine, 1 can of tomatoes. Mix. add gravox and chicken stock and stir. Add muchrooms.
Leave for as long as possible and enjoy!
I also cook this in the pressure cooker. The only difference is I use the same pan for everything and only cook for 15 minutes instead of hours!
Crockpot Lamb Curry.
If you can find an authentic malay curry powder use that. Otherwise store bought curry powder works well too.
1 Shoulder of lamb boned and cubed (beef works well too)
2 tbsp curry powder
3 tbsp oil
brown lamb in frypan with oil. Add curry powder and fry for 2 mins extra. put aside. You can add mustard seed and cumin powder to make it a bit spicier if you like, when frying.
3 cups mixed cubed veg (onions, eggplant, zucchini, pumpkin, carrots...just about any firm veg really)
3 cloves garlic chopped
1' piece of ginger chopped
1 can coconut cream
1 can chopped tomatoes
Put veg in the bottom of the slow cooker, meat on top. pour over coconut cream and tomatoes and cook for at least 3 hours. Stir, check for tenderness of meat and add salt/pepper if required.
Serve with rice and naan bread
Slow cooker porridge.
For each person's serve (ie x 10 for 10 people)
2 tbsp oats
1 tsp brown sugar
1 tbsp chopped dried apple
1 tbsp sultanas or raisins
sprinkle of cinnamon
1 tsp custard powder
0.75 cup milk or water.
Mix everything and put in the slow cooker on low overnight. Best made in slow cooker for large no's of people (needs to come 2/3 way up sides of slow cooker) You may need to add more or less water/milk if too thick. If making just 1 or 2 serves use quick oats and a microwave!
Serve with milk.
Try using dried fruit medley instead of apple/sultanas. or make peanut and honey flavour porridge.

Moroccan Pork
I'm a guesser and this was made for two
2 large pork steaks
I large onion
1/2 cup white wine
I apple cubed
I cup cherry tomatoes
sesame oil
2 tsp Moroccan seasoning (Masterfoods)
Couscous and broccoli (optional)
Cube the pork and toss in the oil and seasoning till well mixed
Heat a pan and when hot quickly brown meat
Slice onion in rings and brown lightly, add half the wine to pan then toss all in slow cooker with rest of wine.
Cook on high for 4 hours then cube apple (I left skin on accidentally and it was fine) and add along with the cherry tomatoes.
Cook another couple of hours.
Serve with couscous and steamed broccoli or whatever you like.
Yum!

I have this one going as I type! I had some lamb forequarter pieces & was trying to think of something to cook with them. I had a look in the fridge & pantry & came up with this one.:)
6-8 lamb forequarter pieces
1/4-1/3 large kent or jarrahdale pumpkin
4 large potatoes
1 large brown onion, chopped
1/2 cup pearl barley
Bay leaf
Rosemary sprigs (optional)
Soak the pearl barley overnight (or for at least 4-6 hours). Drain before adding to the slow cooker.
Brown the lamb pieces & onion in a pan with some olive oil.
Cut the potato & pumpkin into chunks.
Add the lamb, barley & vegetables, as well as the bay leaf & rosemary to the slow cooker & cook on auto for at least 7 hours.
Serve in a bowl on its own as a hearty winter stew, or on a plate with steamed winter veggies.

I'm cheating today.
I found the McCormic's slow cooker flavour bases and we're having herb and galic lamb shanks. Tomorrow will be Beef and mushroom ragout.

Cheap and Easy lamb casserole
Approx measurements:
750g-1kg lamb chops any cut (works with beef too).
I pkt french onion soup in dry form
I tin of condensed tomato soup
frozen mixed vege 500g or so.
No need for water even if it looks a bit dry as once meat juices are released it becomes a bit runnier.
Very budget friendly, I use all generic brands for soups and vegies. Of course fresh vegies can be used if you prefer.
I just throw this all in with no precooking or browning. As with most slow cooker recipes the longer the better but a taste test will be your decider. Beef often needs longer than lamb chops though.

Do you want from scratch or just a tarted up packet mix?
From scratch would not be much point doing in SC as its the long caramelisation of the onions that makes an onion soup tasty.
You could use the SC to make the chicken stock and then caramelise the onions on the stove top and add to your stock to finish in the SC.
Anyway heres how I would do it.
500g chicken necks, carcases or wings.
3 lt water
1 onion
1 carrot
1 stick celery
roughly chop veg and put in SC with water and chicken bits. cook on high for 3 hours skimming any froth from top. Remove chicken bits and veg, leaving stock in SC.
4 large onions sliced thinly
2 tbsp butter
1 tsp sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
Pan fry onions and butter and sugar together on stove top on med heat until onions are well browned/caramelised. You want them almost melting together but not burnt.
Add back to SC and cook for 1 hour. Add extra water and salt pepper as needed
Serve with crusty french bread with parmesan cheese melted on top.
