Poll: Do you read reviews before buying?

I have just had my first look at the review section in Bubhub and was surprised to find hardly any reviews at all on the modern cloth nappies.
So I'm wondering how many of you read reviews first before purchasing (either on bubhub or another site), how many go with the hype and buy on impulse (admit it, there's a lot of hype here about certain brands!:cool:) and how many take advice from friends/word of mouth?

I spent hours and hours and hours doing internet research and also got advice from ladies on here and on another nappy website. It really is trial and error with anything you buy. I initially went with the better known MCN's and then tried another WAHM whose product I love the best.

:yes: I did my research last year about 10mths ago and just tried out diff types and now I have found a nappy by a WAHM that I love.

The bubhub reviews are new so slowly I am sure more ppl will put their reviews up. I have written a couple and hope others will too. :thumbsup:

i tend to go by what people say on here.
or i'll buy one of something just to try it out.

I tend to mainly buy/swap nappies from people I know, or things that I have seen irl and liked the look of. I tend to be a bit fussy about what I get, so that narrows the field down a *lot*!

Hmmm, I did heaps of research at the beginning, but now I kinda know what I like....not much need to research anymore...

I have not put up any reviews...naughty me...I am going to do some now! ;)

I just added a couple of reviews - although they're ones that already have reviews!


I did a massive amount of research before I bought my BB's.
When I came across BP's it was before many ppl were talking about them on here. I still looked into them a fair bit before I bought them.


ETA: I wouldn't say I've read alot of specific reviews (especially seeing as the BH's ones are only just new) but instead I asked questions, read threads etc.

I did heaps of research before Jet was born and then bought lots of preloved nappies in different styles so I could try them out. I read so many reviews and was quite influenced by other people's experiences.

Now that Jet's been in cloth for 6.5 months I know what I like and what works for us, and I know that nappies work differently for different babies, so I tend not to be as swayed by reviews until I actually try something for myself.

I often still buy preloved nappies to test out 'new' styles, otherwise if I know it's something I'll like or that will work for us, I'll just go for it.
