Go`day everybody :)
I`m a 30 year old ,a stay at home mum, I have two beautiful children and a sexy husband .
We live in Oslo, Skandinavia ( the home of Tripp trapp, baby bjørn and of course The midnight sun ) :D
We are on our way to Melbourne, but we don`t know where, my husband will work down town and we want to rent a house were it`s child friiendly and no snakes ;)
I would be very greatful if any of you could point out were it`s good to live.
Is it expensive to live in Australia? My husband will have a salary of 120 000. How is that? will we survive? :o
Is it easy to get freinds? Sorry for all my strange and stupid questions.
Any way, I`m really glad I found this web site, and I hope to get to know you.

Hi Thea's Mum,
Welcome. We just moved to Melbourne recently so I can't really be too helpful on where to live. I guess it depends on how far from the city you want to live and also if you want to live at the beach or inland. I am from Ireland and my husband is German.
You will not have any problems living on what your husband is earning, the quality of life is very good and not too expensive.
good luck with your move, its a big one.
Lynda, mum to Ryan(3), Jayden(1) and ?(October) :)
Hi Thea's mum,
we moved to Melbourne last year from Sydney and we love it. We are in Essendon
so northwest of the city. It's an 18 minute train ride (clean and quite punctual compared to Sydney) into the main station, flinders st. Everywhere seems quite child friendly, not too many stairs, friendly people, loads of parks and playgrounds.
Perhaps you can look at houses on www.domain.com.au or www.realestate.com.au. There you can see pictures of inside the houses as well.
let us know when you arrive if you want to meet up somewhere
dare1507@hotmail.com. I have 2 boys, a 3 year old and a 1 year old.
good luck
Jen

Thank`s :)
We have seen some houses in Mt Eliza, but we don`t know the area..in fact we don`t know nothing about Melbourne :o
Now it`s just 1 1/2 month till we leave...I`m nervous!!
Hello Thea's Mum,
I live in Sydney but I think Melbourne is a wonderful city. Great food and some even call it the Aussie Fashion Capital. This website is about tourism in Victoria http://www.visitvictoria.com.au/ and it will give you an idea of all the wonderful places you can visit and things you can get up to.
When it comes to activities with the kids, the Bub Hub website has a whole section on just on that for you. Link here http://www.bubhub.com.au/activitiesdirectory.shtml and then click on what you're interested in and then click on VIC for info relevant to your state. We use the Sydney pages all the time for ideas on what to do with our 3 year old.
:o
Hi Theas Mum,
Hopefully you will view this. Where will your husband be working? I have lived in Melbourne my whole life, so would be happy to help.
Jen is right though, Essendon is very nice & close to the city :o

Only 21 days left...
Hi Thea's Mum, just writing to say welcome to Melbourne!
Mt Eliza does seem a wonderful place (that does sound expensive, must be a great house though :) )
I am in Bayside, so maybe in the future (once I am actually pregnant  ) we could catch up :)
You must be so excited to be almost here! I am sure you will love it, it's a really friendly city.
Hi there, My name is Michele.Just browsing through and saw your mail.Getting a house to rent is not an issue it all depends on where your husband is working. There is no down town here. It's just the city where alll the businesses are and the suburbs divided into north south east and west. The all surround the city.If your husbands salary is120,000 dollars you have nothing to worry about. You will manage very well.Food is not very expensive here.
Any more help feel free to e.mail me on michele_falcao@hotmail.com.
we are going into winter here but it is definitley not gonna be colder than where you come from,
Take care
