Hi!

Im now almost half way through my Doula course and am looking for 3 lovely ladies preferably due in the next few months who would allow me to support them and their families on the road to childbirth. My services will be free while i am training!

A little about me: I am 23 years old, living in Capalaba with my husband Daniel and our son Brayden who is 18 months.

I have attended births in the past as my mum is an independant midwife and i quite often attended with her when i was younger, I loved the experiance. Having my own son in October 05 showed me what labour was like and convinced me that this is what i want to do!

I support womens choices for the birth of their baby, whether that be natural, c/section, VBAC etc. it is completely up to you!

Please feel free to PM me if you are interested,

Thank you, Melissa

Hi Mel,
I'm not preg yet (hopefully soon), but attempting to gather as much info as possible. Can you give me a quick run down on what a Doula does that's any different to a midwife? thanks, HB

Hi there,

Not a problem! Good luck ttc!

A Doula doesnt do anything clinical, the midwife/ob does that.

A Doula, is there to support the woman, her partner and family, during pregnancy, labour, and postnatally. We offer pregnancy/birth education, support the woman at home before she goes to the hospital while in labour, offer natural things to help pain management, heat packs, positioning, water, massage etc, We support your birth and your choices, being natural, c-section, waterbirth, homebirth, VBAC etc

I Hope that helps a bit, feel free to pm me :)
