Has anyone got some advice on this???

We have found out that G has an egg allergy, although we arent sure of its severity yet.

At the Gp's today he told me to try some egg on him about a week before his 12 month needles, if he has another reaction, that the mumps and rubella shot will need to be done in a hospital.

Any advice on all of this?

DP never had the shot that contains egg as he was allergic as a child.

Hi, DS is allergic to egg amoungst other things.
The doctor wouldnt do his needles so we had to go to either the hospital or his allergy specialist. We went and had it done at the allergy specialist and had no problem.

I would recommend going to the hospital to get it done to be on the safe side. I would'nt give him egg the week before as you know he already has the egg allergy. There's no point exposing him to it again.

My gp told me to try egg on my dd just before her 12 mth needles we did this and ended up in hospital because her face instantly swelled yp and she went all blochy , When we got home i rang the immunise info line 1800671811 and they told me that no immunisations contain any egg protein at all anymore (they did a long time ago) dd had her needles as normal and all fine. maybe give them a call.(We have since learnt that dd has a servere egg allegy )

DD has a severe egg allergy. We found out when she was 11 months old. She had her all her vaccinations without any trouble. Like it was said, no egg in vac's anymore....your GP should know that!

Yep - I have also been told that the vaccination no longer contains egg.

The doctor (well, any good doctor worth his salt ;)) will be able to give you a product insert from the vaccine - a list of ingredients, as well as the manufacturer's* recommendations regarding allergies and contraindications etc.
:) Hope little G is fine!

This is interesting.
When my big boy (now 4) had his 12mth needles he went red and rashy. A week later he was still red. He then went on to suffer from severe eczema, asthma and allergies. He is allergic to egg.

I feel for you all, I am very lucky with my little L as he has no allergies to anything so far... I've been giving him lots of different things to eat from an early age, it's a shame that so many bubbas get allergies these days...

DD is allergic to egg yolk and white. She has had allergy tests done because of her eczema so I was a bit apprehensive, but the GP said there is no egg in it. Anyway DD didn't have any rashes or anything after her 12 month shots.

My DD is now 16 months old and is very allergic to egg yolk and white...she had her 12 month shots in hospital and had to stay for a few hours to monitored...they gave her antihistamines 30 mins before the MMR shot and she was fine with no reaction what so ever.

Im pretty sure that its only flu shots not immunisations that are from eggs.
