I always said it should be a public holiday in UK as still no idea it was today!!

My brother-in law's name is George, named after St George the Dragon, so it's his name day today.

St Georges Day should be celebrated, but only for England as he is the patron saint of England not UK (not being a snob honest :laughing: ).
As you said Ireland have St Patrick and I'm sure Scotland and Wales have their patron saints but can't recall who they are :o

There was a thing going round the last couple years where people would wear a red rose to celebrate St Georges day and were trying to get it recognised but not sure what happened about that.

Personally I think St George should be de-sainted for killing that poor defenceless dragon :p

But a day off would have still been good!!

I have to be very careful with my Scotish friends as I constantly refer to UK as England...not a snob either.
