The lastest plan - Philippines Dec 2007

Hi ladies,

I just thought Id let you in on my latest aspiration! :thumbsup:

I am hoping to go with a team of youth and young adults to the Philippines from the 2nd to the 15th of December 2007, to be a part of the Philippines Youth Team Project.

This team will be based in Cebu (a community built on a rubbish dump - seriously!). The community get their food and income from the rubbish dump. Children are seem going through rubbish for scraps to make into toys, etc. The team will be involved with feeding programs, schools and services run by the Ceby Missionary Foundation. It will involve street work, drama and other creative outreaches, as well as service activities.

I have lived such a sheltered life... I think this will be a huge wake up call and an awesome opportunity to bless those less fortunate than I, especially all the little children who live in Cebu.

I will need to raise $2,200 approx. So I am seriously working towards saving that amount! :smiliedance:

That is awesome! Dh and his family are from the philippines and when mil goes back soon i plan to give her all the clothes the boys have grown out of or have no use for anymore so she can donate to the children that are in need:thumbsup:
Whe we went there i was shocked at the condition the children live in, we had kids coming up to us begging for money and food. I felt so bad for them i did give them what i had on me even if it wasn't very much.

I will definitely be telling DP to take his old clothes over the the philippines next time he visits and give them to the poor kids!

What craps me is the fact there are all of these companies raising money for the kids and we are talking millions of dollars and the situation is not getting any better!

This plan has now been thrown out the window. Cant afford to go anymore and will not be able to save enough to go now due to a car accident I didnt cause and the excess I had to pay on my insurance, because Im under 22.
