Ok finally I get to tell my birth story - Lilly is 7 weeks old today but better late than never they say.
I was due on the 21st Feb 2007. That day came and went like any other. No news, no sign of labor and my baby was still posterior refusing to budge! That Friday (23rd) I had a small show, I excitedly called DP to tell him. I then re-packed the case and re-made the cot. Waste of time as nothing happended
The following Wednesday (28th) I felt strange. I knew that something was going to happen. I had a really big show that afternoon, followed by nothing again. DP made his scrumptious pasts for tea and we was delighted that there was enough left over for him to take to work the next day. I said "You wont be going to work tomorrow" He laughed it off as I has said this to him before. "I'm serious this time", I said.
We went to bed about 10.30.
Thursday 1st March 2.30 - I wake to a cramp like pain, got up went to the toilet, thought that cant be it didnt hurt enough. Went back to bed and back to sleep.
3.30am I awoke with another more painfull cramp and thought hmmmmm maybe this could be serious but seeing as though the contractions were an hour apart I tried to go back to sleep.
3.38 Wow that hurt a little more and what the.... they are only 8mins apart now!!!
It was then that I got out of bed and went to the toilet again only to find blood, I freaked as you do and rang the hospital. They asked was the baby moving.... um yes it did before.... dont stress they say. Stay at home unless you have anymore blood loss or your baby hasn't moved for over half an hour.
Back to the couch I go, I tired to rest in between contractions - didnt really work. By 4am my contractions were 7-8 mins apart and lasting 1 and a half to 2 mins and they were bl**dy painfull.
I woke DP at 4 and told him I was having contractions - I dont think he believed me and went back to sleep, which suited me fine I preferred being alone to walk around and around my coffee table in the lounge. Contractions remained at 8 mins apart.
6am More blood loss, which really worried me and I didn't think the baby had moved in a while. I jumped in the shower to see if that would help. It did for a while. I got out and woke DP and said come on it's time to go to the hospital. He jumped in the shower, got the car out, fed the dogs and said righto let's go. I asked whether perhaps he would like to pack the case into the car  He said we wont need it they will only send us home, I said they wont be sending us home dear.
Contractions in the car where terrible, they were now 5mins apart and so painfull. I told DP I was having every drug they had when I got to hospital. Half way of our 15min drive to hospital the car stopped  dead on the side of the road, what's wrong with the car I asked, I dont know said DP, You've got to be f***ing joking me I said seeing images of me delivering our baby in the back of our station wagon with all the morning traffic racing by tooting their horns!!! The car started again and off we went.
6.40am arrive at hospital. They make me lay on a bed (oh so painfull when your baby is posterior) and hokked me up to an ECG, I had to try and stay still while having contractions - yeah right!! By now the contractions where 4 mins apart and really painfull.
They took us across to our birthing suite where I started trying to pull the rails off the walls (that go around the bathroom to assit people with getting on and off the toilet) with each contraction and they said they would call my midwife and she would be about an hour away.
DP went to put the car in the car park and get the bags (yeah the ones he thought I didnt need). He got back and I was hovering over the toilet saying oh i'm going to be sick. Contrations were 2-3 mins apart. Midwife finally arrived and I said to her that's it ive had it I need something, she asked what sort of something (yes i wanted to headbutt her when she said that) anything I said. She convinced me to have an internal first and see how far along I was. To my delight I was 9.5cm woo hoo only half a cm to go. I figured I could do without the drugs now.
9am I am going to be sick I said. They handed me a bag and as I was sick the was a huge gush. DP and the midwife thought I had missed the bag and been sick on my toes, I gladly pointed out that my waters has finally broken.
9.15 First push. I remained standing at the base of the bed while DP kept hot towels on my back, tummy and a cold washer for my face and giving me my drink of water after each push, he was so amazing. He kept telling me what a good job I was doing. I kept pushing and pushing. I swear nothing was happening apart from my legs getting more and more tired.
I had had enough, I was exhausted and convinced nothing was happening. I told my midwife ans she suggested another internal, to my delight again the head was only half a cm away. So with a new lease of life I jumped up and resumed my spot at the foot of the bed and gave one allmighty push. Ouch the burning ring of fire I had been warned of, I felt it!! It made me stop pushing and I felt the head go back up :banghead: was crying as he
I thought to myself, I'll be stuffed if Im going to do this all day so with my next contraction i pushed and while hanging onto DP and saying ow ow ow ow out came the head. With the next push the baby was out and caught by dad. I turned and sat (finally) on the end of the bed. DP was crying as he handed me this little hairy-headed bundle , it was a girl!!
DP cut the cord and I cried when they gave me a needle to help bring on the placenta - what a sook, I had just gad a baby and I was scared of a little needle. Placenta came out easily and pain free.
Our precious little girl Lilly Jade was finally here, weighing 6lb 13oz or 3080gm, 49cm long and head circumfrance 35cm.
First stage 5.7 hrs, Second stage 2.7 hrs and Third stage 0.10 hrs Total labor 7.37 hrs.
Now 7 weeks on our beautiful girl has big blue eyes, light brown hair, the world's most beautiful smile and talks all day long!!
Sorry my birth story was so long and thank you for reading it. i will finish now by saying that anyone who has a posterior baby dont stress some labors like mine are quick, positive and not too painfull or hard.
