I have made 3 fitted cloth nappies today all by myself. :yelclap: :yelclap:

I am so darn proud of myself after failing sewing at school and only ever using my machine to badly hem things I managed to sew 3 awsome cloth fitted nappies for DS.

Now i need some advice if anyone can give it. I have made them using polar fleece on the outside 2 layers of terry which was oraginally a flat terry nappy cut down and a flannel liner and velcro to close. The soaker pad is sewen in to the middle and the only thing is they take forever to dry is there another way to make themso that they dry quicker. Also i have been reading about hemp and bamboo are these better to use and if so how many layers do you use. I used the wee weka fitted nappy pattern and it talks about a fold out soaker pad how does this work if you have a pic of a nappy with one of the fold out soaker pads you could post it would be great i can usually do something once i see it done.

Im so excited about these i cant wait to see how it holds up when DS wears it though he has had one on today just as a try on which he managed to poo in in the 10 mins i had it on him it holds the poo well.

I cant wait to make some more but to do this i have to have a visit to spotlight first.

in regards to the fold out soaker, try google tots bots they have fold out soakers. Basically yes hemp or bamboo will be way more absorbant, youd be best doing say 2 layers sewn in then in a fold out soaker another 2-3 layer max. Fold out soaker is just attatched to the inner layer sewn in.

are they leaking? Cos with 1 layer of fleece on the outer they would. Youd need another layer in the wet zone or use a cover

I've just made some and I used a double layer in the wet zone of fleece. Also I lined the inside with flanelette (they are so soft) and sewed inside a pad of 4 payers of flanelette. So far they haven't leaked, I change them after approx 2 wees.
