View Full Version : Where to get wool
I am just wondering where does everyone get their wool from? I am wanting to dye the wool but I don't want to pay too much for the wool. I would like it in a 200g plus hank.
Also has anyone bought from Nundle wool mill???

Jolly Jumbuck on Ozebaby are selling different types of undyed wool.. mostly in 100g lots but you can get 2. Maybe try there.

I've dyed $3 Big W wool before. Just buy the white/cream colour and make sure its 100% wool.
Sorry, missed the hank part...skip right over me!
The only reason why I want a 200g plus hank is to make a pair of soakers. I know Nundle wool is sold in 400g hanks so I might just get that one. Then I could make a pair of shorties out of the same colour as the longies. Does that make sense?

Can you buy what you want in smaller balls, then wrap it round a couple of chairs and tie it when you get to the end of a ball, and keep winding. Then take it of the chairs and dye it. I saw a picture when I was thinking about dying with kool aid

Like HoopDeeDoo said. If you do a felted join it won't cause a knot in the yarn.

Or you can just put the knot on the wrong side of the knitting :)

TL, the knots have a very sneaky way of getting to the front of the knitting. Since I learned the felted method, I haven't looked back. I also heard the russian method is good too.
CK What is the russian method??????
I don't mind getting the 400g hank as when I compare it to other shopd for smaller balls it is cheaper. I might even get 2 pairs of longies if I do the waistband in a contrasting colour.
