I was just thinking how great it is co-sleeping & thought it might be nice to share what you love most about it.

I love how most nights MJ will roll straight out of her cot & to my side as soon as I get into bed. If that doesnt happen then i'll wake to her feet in my back :p Or when she'll be sound asleep & reach out to make sure i'm still next to her.

Also how when she gets thirsty at night, she crawls over to me, cups my breast & has a drink & passes out again.

AND lastly, for now anyway, the HUGE smiles I get when she wakes up & see's me & DH.

Never having to get out of bed to a crying baby!
Never having a baby that cries after bedtime!
Knowing as a newborn that he was safe from SIDS and always perfectly nourished :D
Always knowing he's safe - no one can kidnap my cosleeping child!
Hearing him breathe in the night ah lovely :)
The last words I hear at night are him mumbling "Ni ni mummy" and the first words I hear in the morning are him singing "heeennnnnnnoooooooo" (his hello)to me.
Having little chats in the middle of the night where he smiles at me and rolls over in his sleep and says "Poop poop" which is one of his favourite book characters talking about cars... Conor loves cars LOL.
Never having to worry about transitioning from one kind of bed to another. He'll tell me when he wants to move into a bed on his own!
Being able to put an arm around him in the middle of the night and say, "Sleepytime honey" and he snuggles in and goes straight to sleep.
Never having any problems with going to sleep!
Never having a problem when we travel. He's always in bed next to mummy like he is at home, so no problems at all!
He's not scared of the dark at all which I think is due to never being alone in the dark, or being left to cry. He's perfectly secure knowing that mummy is always available!

What's not to love?! :)

Janet said everything I feel. Thanks for expressing my words so wonderfully Janet. Too me, it is the only way to raise safe, secure children.

Janet did say everything wonderfully. I love when my bubba 'schnarfles'. It's the name I gave to when he plugs his little nose into crook between my neck and my shoulder and gives kisses. He started as a baby trying (in the wrong place!) to breastfeed, now he just does it out of love. I love the smell of sleepy bubba, and the little coo's he does in his sleep. I love that I never feel quite so complete as when the precious little guy is sleeping peacefully in my arms.

Janet sums it up nicely!

I second the no probs travel... I love that I don't have to spend time "settling" my children when on holidays.
I love the chats I have with my DD at the moment when we hop into bed "Shumshine go to sleep, Hi5 go to sleep, Hoosey cats go to sleep... eeeeeeeebody goes to sleep Mama" And her greeting when I wake up... "goooooooooooo morning, you lake up!"

Never had any problems with fidgetting or anything else here, so no persistance was required :) It's been delicious from the day he was born!

Ds is the worlds biggest fidgeter. He just fights it until he's in his own bed.
We've never been able to cosleep, so good on you girls that it's worked for you.

I guess every baby is different even from birth.

Mine all happen when I'm still awake and DH and DD are asleep.

* When DH and Vallerie snore in unison..............

* When I come to bed last, and there's just no room left for me. Warms my heart to see her twirling and knotting up her daddy's hair (instead of mine, i mean!!!:p )

* When Vallerie sleeptalks (mostly gibberish) and DH sleep-answers her (again gibberish) LOL

Even though we generally put her into her own bed after she's asleep (coz we only have a double bed, and it just won't fit all of us) The first thing she does in the morning is run in and jump in with us (generally just me, DH's shower wakes her up) and she says "good morning mummy!!" with that huge smile :) Every morning since she was born I ask her "did you have a good sleep? did you have any dreams?" and in the last 6 months she's been answering me, telling me all about her dreams. I love that.

I love the sleepy eyed looks of love I get in the morning when he rolls over and wakes up to me looking at him, he pats my face and says Mummy. He knows he is the centre of my universe that is all I can ever ask for;)

My eight year old co-sleeped with us untill he was 6 then we transitioned him to mattress on the floor in our room then to his room. He still comes in for a bit of loveup in the mornings though.

And of course I have less washing of sheets each week :D

Have to agree with Janet on not having to get up to a crying baby and also with rainbow brite, that when he is thirsty he just cups my breast and takes what he wants. But definately the best thing for me, is waking up to see his huge big smile beaming up at me. Melts my heart every morning!!

It is really hard to put into words, I guess just the knowledge that he is so happy and secure beside me, knowing that there is boob available whenever he needs/wants it, being able to smell his hair and give him a cuddle if I want to, listen to his breathing, everything!
I love how he wakes up just so happy with the world, looking at me with a big grin on his face, and gabbling away in his own language :)
