Was just wondering if any of you with dairy allergic children remember when you were pregnant if they went crazy when you drank/ate dairy??

My two are BOTh allergic to dairy protein (as opposed to lactose) and I for the life of me CAN'T remember. Now I am ready to pop again and this time round I can SEE the hands and feet coming outta my belly whenever I have my dairy (coffee, tea, milk, yoghurt, ICE CREAM!!!!)

I don't plan to bf and so need to work out whether to chance it and bring normal formula, lactose free or soy formula for the hospital. PLEASE HELP????????

Given the history with the two preceeding children, and the reaction you are getting when you have dairy yourself now, I'd just reach straight for the soy based formula - unless you change your mind and decide to bf (which in your circumstances, I'd be keen to try), in which case you'd need to eliminate dairy from your diet by the sound of it.

That I think is the problem ... I get withdrawls if I don't drink my dairy ... Strange but true (straight from Ripleys) I get lethargic and light headed.

I tried giving up Dairy in order to get the bf going better with the other two but it was down to my health or bf?? Needless to say which i had to choose.

Am very much leaning towards reaching straight for Soy .....

hi eleanor,
You can also try the karricare goats milk fomula. Our doc recamended not having soy milk. There's been some studies that link soy milk with allergies later in life.

Id go the goats milk/formula as there are probs with the soy formula so i would only use it if necessary.

just a word of advice, goats milk had very similar proteins to cows milk so if it is that which is the allergy u will still have probs. Sorry but my allergist was horrified when i suggested trying goats milk, and george tested positive against it
