Hi everyone,
I live in Tarragindi, Brisbane, and my kids are a little older now and I am desperately looking for a nanny so I can do the super-mum thing and return to work full time while still having a family! It’s proving a lot harder to find someone than I thought. Can you help me?
Do you know anyone who might be interested (and appropriate) in caring for my children Mon-Fri 3.00 p.m to 6.00. p.m? Any ideas where I might find that person?
Hope you can help….

How much does a nanny cost out of interest?

that all depends on the person and the skills and the nature of the duties. Most of my friends with nannies for a few hours each weeknight are paying around $15 an hour. I's more if you go through an agency
Bride83 - it depends on the nanny and her experience - anywhere from $12 to $25 an hour these days.
ledwards - can't help you with a name at the moment but will keep you in mind if I hear of anyone - have you tried Brisbane nannies? We found our nanny through them and she is great. The other option you could try is "in home care" through the East Brisbane Family Day Care and In Home Care Scheme - they place a carer in your home and Tarragindi is no drama geographically. Give them a call on 38915684 and ask for Mandy - she is very helpful. In home care has the advantage that the service that provides them does unannounced home visits to check on how it is all going, does a safety audit of your house to make sure everything is okay, provides repalcement carers where possible if your carer gets sick and you can claim child care benefit. It is available if you have unusual hours that you require (so you should qualify because you aren't asking for 8 - 5), if you can't arrange other care (also you I imagine as none of us can find care these days) and various other things that probably don't apply. Worth a try!
Good luck.

If you're looking for a comprehensive list of who to contact, check out the Bub Hub page in the Services Directory > Parenting + New Baby Services > Childcare - nannies and babysitters. Click on your state and you will find all of the businesses we currently know of, complete with phone numbers and links to their website, if they have one.
Here is a quick link to the section for you: http://www.bubhub.com.au/servicesnannies.shtml
All the best in your search and hope you have a great 2006!
Cheers. :)

I had a nanny share arrangement a number of years ago when DD#1 was at kindergarten, I was working full time along with some of the other mums, and kinder ended at 3:00pm.
We arranged ours through one of the universities, we had a final year Early Learning student, and it was a great arrangement.
