See how much was in the wrapping/container, will say on the lid/side and divide butter up until you have correct amount.
eg a 500g block divided in two will give you 250g.
HTH
I think a block of butter is 250g...hold on...or is it 200g. Have you got a block there or a tub, try and go from that.
Are you using a block of butter? They usually have a scale down the side of them showing you where to chop it.
Or if its margarine in a tub, you can estimate based on the total of the tub.

Push, with a knife/spoon, all butter against one side about as high as orig would have been, how much do you seem to have?
250g would 1/4 of the container.

My measurements are usually close enough is good enough so hope all turns out yummy and scrummy:thumbsup:
250g butter is prob equiv to about 1/2 cups worth if that helps too.
Also 1tblsp is supposed to b the equivilent of 20g

if you have measuring cups - 250g is 1 cup. fluid is slightly different, so don't measure in a jug.
look online and get a conversian table, i'll see if i can find one, it will tell you how many table spoons to how many grams
found out its just over one cup, one cup is actually 225grams, so just add a little bit more
can I say that must be one hell of a cake, with all that butter
