View Full Version : swollen ankles
Hi,
Anyone got any natural remedies/advice for swelling of the ankles?
I'm 22 weeks pregnant and for the 1st time last night had swollen ankles. Gone down today but still not completely normal.

Hi,
I was reading the book up the duff by Kaz Cooke, and I'm pretty sure she said she was drinking Dandelion Leaf tea which made her wee alot... And was good for fluid retention..
You might want to look it up first..
Hope It helps

My GP suggested celery, as it apparently helps fluid retention. Although he did say that you would need to eat an awful lot of it, so said to get celery tablets instead.
Can't say that it did much for me, but might be worth a go...
I've looked into this a bit more and have found out that Nettle tea and Dandeloin is great for it, as well as a couple of homeopathic remedies. So I have started on these. I have also found that for me it's the sitting down that makes the ankles swell so exercise and walking also helps.
Hopefully it won't get much worse!

Yeah about 22 weeks I stopped having ankles and found they were cankles. Wasnt great as I was getting married about this time!! I found celery tablets helped as well as eating watermelon. The other thing I found helped was shaving my legs or doing salt scrub - neither of them were particularly easy after 20 weeks but worked well for me.
