DS has been a great sleeper since he was about 3 months. He sleeps around 10-12 hours each night and only sometimes waking once for a feed around 2am. He goes down around 6.30pm and normally wakes anywhere between 5 - 6.30am

But the last week, he has taken up waking 3 times in the night again. 10pm, 2am and 4am. And at 4am he decides he wants to stay up and play.
The only way I can get him back down to sleep at 4am is by feeding him and then he wakes again an hour later anyway.
I don't really mind the 10pm and 2am......but the 4am thing is getting a bit rough.

What can I do to get him to go back to his normal sleep pattern ?

I haven't changed our bed routine or anything else so I'm not sure why he has decided to start doing this. He's now 5 months old. He has been put on zantac recently for his reflux. Could this be the reason ?

We recently had the same thing happening with DS so we tried the pick up / put down method outlined in The Baby Whisperer book, by Tracy Hogg. Highly recommend reading it. She talks about all different reasons as to why babies start waking up and plans to help you deal with it for different age groups. Best of luck

Cobey was a great sleeper until around that time.. then he started waking in the night again. :/ I've been told it's developmental.
Last night he only woke up once (WOOHOO)

I also find out he wakes up if he's cold, so I rug him up in a sleeping bag before bed.

 My baby is 8 months and has started that too.

She has slept through since she was 7 weeks....I am just not used to her waking up like this

The problem is she wakes for up to 2 hours.......AHHHH driving me crazy

What is up with these babies? :D

Lucky I love her SOOOOOOO much:yes:

Tash, cobey's just gotten over that.
I turned off all lights, all music, all tvs and didn't say a word, just lay beside him.

 I tried the no lights approach, and she was back asleep within 30 minutes.

Now we just have to get through this wanting to be rocked to sleep......

Aaagghhh I feel your pain! We've just been through two weeks of this and I thought I was going to lose the plot completely.
Went from sleeping 10 hours straight through the night to waking up every 2 hours screaming the house down all night long (and waking DD as well) :banghead:
DS is six months old.
I put it down to the six month growth spurt in the end, but I also suspect it may have been from introducing solids which we did the day before it all started. We scaled back the solids (going to take it very slowly now) and basically I just fed him whenever he woke up otherwise he'd wake the whole household up and we couldn't get DD back to sleep
Thankfully he's settled down again now and we've had no problems for four days now so I think its over.
They do go through phases like this and I think the best you can do is just ride it out sometimes. Sometimes there isn't a reason and nothing you can do helps so you just do what you can to get through it (in my case kicking DH out of bed and bringing DS in for a few nights  )
Hang in there if he was good before I'm sure he will be again ;)
