how do you become an egg donor!

Hi there everyone I am new to this and I would like to know what do you need to do to become a egg donor could anyone point me in the right direction .I am 24 and have 4 of my own children 2 adopted and 2 my own and I could not imagine my life without them. can anyone share their experiences with me that would be great

Hi Megan!

First of all - be really careful that you don't advertise yourself or ask recipients to contact you for you to donate to them...

Secondly - wow! All those babies! Good on you!

A good place to start is to read the stickies that Sarahsatfish has posted in the top of this section. There is some must read info in there about where to get started and things to think about.

Then, read everything you can lay your hands on and ASK QUESTIONS! Even if you think the question is silly, ask it. If it's important enough to pop into your head, then it's important enough to ask...

Talk it over with your partner too - if you go ahead, he will need to sign the consent forms too.

Then, decide what sort of person/people you would like to donate to. A couple? A single woman? Infertile because of nature or because of age? Interstate or local to you?

When you have answered those questions, then you can start the look for recipients...

are there medical requirements you have to meet to become a donor apart from the ones stated in the stickies?

my main question is and one thats i worry aboutis :
does it matter if you are overweight and want to ED?

No weight isnt really an issue, as long as you are in good health and have no genetic illnesses.

I think you are a fantastic person for doing / thinking about egg donation.

If it wasnt for the generosity of people like yourself, I never would have had the chance of being a mother to my beautiful little boy.

One thing though - you make the contact with the recipients other wise you will be bombarded with recipeints pleeding for your help. I know its hard, as i was a recipient but I told my story then waited for someone to come to me - thats the way it should be.
