I want to start using my mcn at night. The following are what I have available that could be suitable for night........
gk anytimes
happy heiny
sandras stuffables
hautes

Out of those nappies what do you think would be best for nights??

Are they all pockets? The roomiest I think is the GK... Although I don't have a SS or a Haute. A pocket is just a pocket- it is only made absorbant by what you put into it, so what is important is not the nappy but the insert/s.

A Hemparoo and a microfiber insert (I like the cotton babies one-size one, it's really thick and more like an insert then just a booster) will fit into a GK and sometimes my son has one of these for night, and it works fine.

If the SS is a fleece pocket, they are apparently quite good for night too

But personally, Baby Beehinds Bamboo fitteds and wool or a quality pul cover (I like Motherease Airflow) is my choice for night, I far prefer this over pockets

Yeah, they are all pockets. They are all I have atm, just growing my stash! I actually have one fitted but no covers yet. And now I am broke and wont be buying for a few weeks. In the meantime I really want to stop buying disposables for ds2! I was just thinki9ng some might be better than others in terms of wicking/leaking for long periods. Teh SS seem the roomiest and are fleece so will breathe, but the hautes are so far my fave performer in terms of leaking/wicking. hmmmm.........

when i first started i had the GK anytimes cause i bought their trial pack and it came with an hourglass a booster and a microfiber...so i put the hourglass and the microfiber into the anytimes and it lasted eli a good 7 hours no leaks!

you can even use a face washer folded up or a terry flat if you think you need extra absorbency! hope that helped! i know what its like to only have a little bit but you want them to be in cloth as much as possible!

Well, a few weeks ago I swore the Hautes were a fantastic night nappy, but they have since turned into a disaster for my daughter who is quite petite. The legs gape open and she ends up with a red raw rash from the wee going over her legs instead of into the nappy inserts. Even though I love the colours and the shaped inserts, I have totally gone off them and wish I had bought fitteds now. I am in the process of knitting her a soaker and have ordered a BBB so hopefully that will get DS started on better night times.
At the moment, I'm using an Ella's Bumhugger and wool cover which is working so much better.
If I were you, I would choose something with plenty of absorbency inside, and snug around the legs.

Try thr fleece pocket with ?microfibre and hemp or even terry flat inside. My bubs in a GK dreamytime tonight. I find it works quite well. I alternate between this and BBB/Bits 4Bots bamboo with wool.

Can you sew, even if it is badly?

You can felt and lanolise an op shop wool jumper to make a wool cover for about $2. Can't beat wool over a fitted!

With the pockets, I would only use the ones with solid coloured prints as the printed pockets don't usually last as long because they are mostly laminted knit's.

I know Happy Heiny's olny reccommends there solid printed for night time use.

But I would 2nd a BBB with a Wool Cover.

I have a very heavy wetter so we have just bought a GNST from Bubble Bubs and its the heavy wetter version and it works well with a wool soaker. He still manages to wet thru to the outside of the nappy but doesn't get thru the wool soaker.
