I want to get DD into a playgroup but want to go to a good one (I know sometimes the mother's can be really competitive). Anyone go to one in the Newcastle area that's good and can recommend?

If not, how do I go about finding them! I need them to be on either a Wednesday or a Thursday cause the other days we're busy (unless they run in the afternoon but it's usually a morning thing isn't it?)

Thanks in advance!

Dunno - I know I couldn't survive without it!

I went to a lovely mother's group when DD1 was born about 3 yrs ao, but sadly we never really kept in touch.....

Phineas that's my concern about playgroup. I remember going to a playgroup when I was a kid (2-3 years old) and loved it and my mum is still in contact with one of the women from there.
We were in a mother's group but everyone went back to work and now we just get together every 3 months or so...it's really not enough for DD.
Thanks for the site, I'll check it out now!
Charlen I live right in Newcastle so anything close. My mother's group was based in Maitland (joined one of a friend's) and I'd prefer to not have to travel there. I know it's not that far, but I know that play group's have to run in Newcastle!

Wow, looks like I have three options really close. They can't all be awful right?
