Okay...I jumped on the healthy bandwagon a few weeks ago and when I ran out of white rice, I bought a shiny new packet of brown rice.

Only thing is, it tastes sooooooo icky to me. Even when served with a stir fry and sauce it still tastes so bland and icky.

Does anyone know how to make it taste nice(r)? Without drowning it in fatty sauces?

I went through a stage of eating brown rice and found cooking it in chicken stock helps....

nasty stuff that brown rice. I think if you imagine that it isn't rice, it's another food altogether it might help.

Yes, I think it is actually made of plastic.
Where are you Nicole, look at all these great tips your getting.

Some health kick. Told myself to shape up before having another bub - so far it ain't working (the health kick or the conceiving).

No more brown rice. YUCK. I tried, I failed.

You used to wander around behind ST Pauls eh...I used to ride my bike! Woo hoo!

Puk - e-vodka gets you admission. It is my only vice.

Call me weird, but I LIKE the taste of brown rice!
Nutty, crunchy, wholesome flavour......

I've got the E-kit kats.
And the real ones here!:)

Puk

Here's some interesting brown rice recipes! http://homecooking.about.com/library/archive/blbrownrice.htm

Do you see how bored i am?

Nickster
22-12-2005, 21:25
Yup, that's me, brown-rice-eating-weirdo!

Did I mention that Libby also loves brown rice....mmmm....mixed with chicken and tomatoes!

Can someone please top up my E-harvey wallbanger?

Puk - thank you. I am actually bored enough to investigate the possibility of trying to eat it again...maybe in a few weeks after I get the icky taste out of my mouth!

Nickster funny you should mention - another reason I am on my 'health kick' is so that Andrew will eat the good stuff from the get-go. We are doing fine with fruit & veg, I just gotta switch all the white to brown! Bread is going ok...rice...gonna take a while I think.

We need to find a hunky e-barman :D

Puk
22-12-2005, 21:33
Let's go all out and have a hunky e-barman with no top on, sweat on his nice hardened muscles serving us e-vodka in ice chilled glasses! Oh and don't forget hand feeding us delicious half melted Lindt chocolates! :D
