Has anyone had experience with Family Day Care? I know the guidelines on who can be a carer are more relaxed than in centres, I'm just wondering what day care any of you have used and what your experience was.

This morning our GP said that while it wasn't her place to tell me what to do, she said she doesn't recommend I put DD in to care until she is old enough for an epi pen around 12mths. I am having trouble weighing this against my promise to DH that I would go back when she was 6mths. I'm really worried though and would never forgive myself if something happened to her just for the sake of me working 3 days a week for a few months.

I don't have an "ana" child, but I do know that there are 5 ana-kids in the centre. There is 6 rooms (ages from 6 wks-6yrs) and only 1 room doesn't have an ana-kid (I think its the junior preschool room).

That means that both babies rooms have an ana-child. There have been no incidences where they have had to use the epi-pens, but the Directors and staff are nut-nazis, to ensure the maxiumum safety of the ana-kids (they are all nut ana).

If you are choosing an FDC, then I'd be adament about the carer being 150% sure on what your DD's trigger is, and making sure that it is no where for her to be able to reach it whilst she is in care there. I think that it is a requirement for Family Daycarers to have their first aid cert as well.

Hope that someone can chime in with their experiences with their own kids...
