Mum has knitted a gorgeous purple soaker using what I think was machine washable wool.
The soaker is just too big and loose everywhere. I washed it in near-boiling water and that didn't shrink it at all. I'd put it in the dryer for a few mins except that I don't have one..
I'd love Ariene to be able to wear this soaker! If it felts up a bit I assume that would make it a good soaker for night too. Any tips?:detective:
TIA!!

I'm guessing if you already tried really hot water it won't shrink Em. You might just have to wait a little while til she grows into it?
Have you got a pic? :D

I have a pic coming soon Em :) But if Ariene's anything like her brother then she won't even come close to fitting it...
Bugger!

Is there any way you can take it in, like if it was a bum jumper or something? Hmmm :detective:
Lachlan's got some that are too big except the leg hole, and they still work. They have a drawstring in the waitband
And if nothing works just remember some of your friends with huge chubba bubba girls... ;) ;) :D

LOL Billy!! We'll see what I can do with it first! :p ;)
Can I take it in Em? Would that work?
Does anyone know how to thread a waist band through when there no holes for one? Just shove it through somehow? The waistband would be all bunched up underneath it because it is seriously that loose, but at least it would stay up!!
So just plait some of the wool? :detective: I don't know how to do knitted cords yet...

You can plait or crochet I think. My MIL said you just make your own holes in the ribbing.
Lachy's do bunch up a bit, but they still work and with the drawstring they don't fall down
You could sew up the sides on the inside to take them in if you are desperate. Try the drawstring first and see if that helps

If the rise is really big, maybe you could take in the sides and then fold down the top and sew in some elastic (ie make a casing).

Not quite high enough in the rise, which is a pity, because the ribbing is really wide and it would work perfectly! That would have been a really good idea...
Oh well.. tonight I'd put a drawstring in it and will get mum to take it in next time she visits :D
Machine washable yarn doesn't felt. It is chemically treated so it wont felt. So its easy care - chuck it in the machine so it wont shrink...
You can make twisted cords - take a length of cord twist then fold in half - it will twist and secure on itself. It should be easy to thread it through.
You could also sew elastic on to the ribbing. (On the inner side) - wide can be secured on or hat elastic can be threaded through.
