I am seriously considering a vbac for my next baby (not pregnant and not trying yet! but will be next year!) as i had a horrible c section experience. so i would love to see the stats from fellow buhubbers about whether they managed their vbac or not.

I would also love to hear stories form both sides so that other women in my position can gather their own information.

thanks in advance.

I desperately wanted a VBAC, having had an elective c/s in Oct 05 with DD. My first c/s was necessary due to medical reasons, so when the same issues were not present second time around, I was very excited to get the green light for my VBAC.

Unfortunately it did end in c/s due to complications, however I did get to experience labour this time and I feel confident that we made hte right decision given the circumstances. The only regrets I have are due to the fact that any chance I had of being able to deliver vaginally are now gone for me. I will never be able to experience pushing my baby out - all future babies will have to be delivered via c/s also.

So while there is a certain sadness & regret there for me, I am more than happy to have my beautiful children here safe & sound.

(You can read Owen's Birth Story (http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=77321) for more detail on how things went)

I had to have an ECS with baby #1 as he was breeched. I had baby #2, 3 and 4 VBAC with no problems at all :)

Wow good work!

I think a lot of Ob's give previous c-sec'd Mothers a scare, that they will never achieve a VBAC but it happens everyday.
I know ob's have every right to cause concern but there's still hope.

I went into natural labour one day before my induce date, I laboured in a birthing bath and delivered in a birthing bath.
My labour was mild from 6am-10-am.
Then intense from 10am til 5pm.

I think it went well, I'm hoping for a similar experience next time around.

I'm sure everyone knows my sordid tales already  .....I've had a VBAC with DS2, then was ripped off when I went to have my 2nd VBAC (have proved I was ripped off) and was given an unnecessary c/sec during my labour with DS3, and went onto have a triumphant HBA2C last year with DS4 :D

To anyone who hasnt seen them yet, you can access my birth stories and my table comparing the labours of DS3 and DS4 by clicking the links in my sig. DS3's birth was truly stolen from us both....the comparison of models of care shows this in black and white.

Hope you don't mind me asking, just curious why you can't have a VBAC in the future? Everything I've read says you can even after multiple c/s.

Of course I don't mind you asking!

Aside from the fact that my hospital does not have an OB who will do a VBAC after 2 c/s, in my personal circumstances I would not attempt it, as it would be too dangerous & I doubt I would labour confidently as I would be too concerned about the risks, IYKWIM.

I think it's great when people go ahead to have a successful VBAC after more than one c/s, but in my case, it's just not meant to be.

I had an emergency c-section first time with Ozzy and then attempted a vbac but it resulted in another c-section.

I had an emergency c-sec first time, and a water birth second time - no problems. Now I'm planning a home birth for baby no. 3, due next month - can't wait. If I were to give any advice to a mother wanting a VBAC it would be, find a great midwife and avoid obstetrical care at all costs! Birth is a normal life event, not a medical one, although the industry enjoys making money out of making it a dramatic medical event, ripping mothers and babies of their natural birthing rights.

I am attempting a VBAC with this baby due in July.

Can I say in response to the last post made by Liana to "avoid obstetrical care at all costs...." I must say that I am only able to speak for my OB, but he is wonderful. He is completely and utterly supportive of VBAC. Even when I was having second thoughts and told him I would just book in for the repeat c/s, HE talked ME out of it.

I guess it just depends on who you get, but not all OBs are "scalpel happy".

Just my 2c worth for what its worth!:)
