Hey Girls

I just want to say im so proud to be a single mum.

Last week i went through a sad time of missing my marriage and being a "proper" family...my ex even suggested we work things out again:no: .

You know what...Peter and I are a proper family.

We have so much love, fun, happiness and joy in our household and its only us two who create it. We have such a great life together and i would not go back to how things were with my ex to have the stereo-typical "proper" family.

When we were a family, we may have been when you looked us, but at home my ex husband lived a separate life to my son and I... we were used when wanted then forgotten about when convenient.

So, no, i dont miss my marriage as there was none. A ring on my finger doesn't make my marriage a happy one or a worthy one.

I am so proud of myself that i am at this stage in my life where i LOVE being single, love being the sole carer of my son and love seeing him everyday.

I wouldn't have my life any other way.

Im proud that im out doing this all on my own and my son is getting the best life possible.

I know some of you already feel this way... but to those who don't it will come one day and you will feel like such a strong and proud person:thumbsup:

I'm the same. I'm DELIRIOUSLY happy being on my own. I have no complaints about my life. I'd certainly rather be single and THIS HAPPY than submit to the, as you said, stereotypical family unit for the sake of sake's sake.

I had a really great moment on Sunday, when ex was here for his access with Mr Chicken. Mr Chicken had just woken up, and I got him out of his cot, and then put him on the floor in front of his father (who was lounging around on the couch) and I walked away to the kitchen and Mr Chicken immediately started crying, and ex was calling to him to go to him and Mr Chicken just ignored him and ran over to me. That was a lovely moment, just because I get fears and insecurities about how he might like being around his father more than me...

Not having a DP or DH doesn't undermine the solidity of my family of 2.

Regarding your moment...

I had that yesterday...

My ex came over to see Peter... and at one point he was wrestling with Peter and hugging him (but in a forcing way) and as Peter kept trying to pull away my ex said "Can daddy have a cuddle?"...

Well...

My little guy came running over to me and gave me the biggest kiss and cuddle he he:laughing: I felt so good!

Your Mr Chicken will never like being around his daddy more than you hun... he's not in his life enough for that nor does he show the love you do. You will always be number 1 in his eyes!

Nat, its great you feel that way & great thread:D

me and tyler have always been a proper family. It is hard being a single mum. but i would'nt change anything i've done. tyler is my hole world i love her to bits. and that would not change if her dad was around..

I have my bad days and my really bad days. feeling guily cause tyler's dad is'nt around. At the end of the day i know in my heart this is what is best for us:yes:
