Hi,
I am currently trying to find out how long it takes the Pill to leave your system once you stop taking it, as I would like to fall pregnant in a year or so. The info with the Pill says generally 6 months, but I have heard others fall pregnant much earlier. Can anyone share their experiences with me? I would be greatly appreciative - this is all very new to me! :) :yelclap:

All of my girlfriends besides one came off the pill and fell pg that next month. Even the my friends gp told her not to worry as she won't fall pg within 6mths but that obviously wasn't the case.
This maybe wrong but perhaps it is just blamed on the pill still being in the system when the couple doesn't fall straight away. It is normal to take up to 12 mths.
Good luck

I went of the pill and was pregnant 6 months later.
A girl I worked with went off the pill and thought that it would take her months to fall pregnant and that they would be trying for awhile. She fell pregnant straight away and was very surprised.
I guess everyone is different. I always thought that up to a year of TTC was standard, and to see a doctor if it was taking longer than that.

Well lots of women fall pg whilst on the pill, just by forgetting to take it one day and things like that....
In my case I went off the pill, and then we started trying 4 months after, I fell pg after the second month of trying.
Good luck :D

When you go off the pill your body goes into ovulation overdrive so if you dont fall pregnant in the first week after finishing up then it'll probably happen after the third month.
I came off the pill in March 05 and was pregnant in June 05
hi it took us 8 months after finishing the pill.
With my first, i was preggas the first month off the pill.
For the 2nd, I'm in my third month off atm ttc so i have my :fingerscrossed:.
Goddluck on your TTC Jouney!

1 month..But I sneeze and fall pregnant:laughing: :D
I went off pill and waited 6 months to let my body settle before trying (at the advice of my doctor, but not sure if this is neccesary, I felt it was a good idea, and expected it could take up to 12 months anyway,) after the 6 months was up, I fell preg straight away (to our surprise!)

Yep, here too. I came off the pill in February and was pregnant by March.
But I also fell pregnant on the pill, so I'm super fertile.

Hi Toboo Designs!
yes i have heard the same, that you are very likely to get pregnant the first month off the pill as you ovulate like crazy (lots of people fall pregnant with twins if they get pregnant their first month off the pill) then after that things slow down and get back to normal.
my OB told me to start trying right away but not to worry if it took a year or so to fall pregnant, its probably different for every person which isnt very helpful!
I fell pregnant in the first cycle after going off the pill (expecting it to take 3 months - oops)

I fell about 3 months later, I was on the pill for 8yrs prior, I come from a pretty fertile stock of women tho, I was a surprise, and my sister fell by accident with my niece, throwing up the pill ONE night after bad pizza.
I took the pill for about 16years  and my DH was not supposed to be able to become a father, however i decided to give my body a rest and was pregnant in two weeks :D SURPRISE
After being on the pill for around 10 years,I fell pregnant the 2nd month of trying.:)
I'm hoping the same will happen next time around.:fingerscrossed:
I took the pill for about 14 years then came off hoping to get pregnant soon. I waited and waited and after 3 months of not ovulating I went to my GP and demanded tests (they previously just advised me to wait until the pill 'left my system'). I had PCOS and was likely to not O at all on my own (my sisters are lucky to once a year). Over the next 12 months we went though fertility treatment and ended up conceiving on FSH injections.
I just wanted to point out that everyone is different and dont expect anything to happen to a time frame as you just dont know.
I do wish you luck though :wizard:
I have been TTC #1 for a long time and before this I was on the pill for 10 years. Sometimes I wonder if this has had an effect my my ability to conceive.
I asked my FS if there is any truth to the 'getting the pill ou of your system' thing and he said its a myth. I have heaps of GF's who have fallen while on the pill or who have just come off it....so maybe it just means everyone and everybody is different
I was so lucky (unlucky?) that both times it took 6 weeks off the pill.
The first time I'd been taking it for about 10 years, the second time I'd been on the mini pill for a few months after having my son and was still fully breastfeeding.
After being on the pill for 12 years, I went off at the end of Nov, and fell preg in Feb. I think everyone is different and I also believe that you are most fertile staright after you stop taking the pill, as most of my friends fell straight away. (My cycles are very long & irregular).

I was on the pill for 5 years and it took us two months to concieve with our son. However we a now TTC#2 and three months later and after two really long cycles we are still waiting. Doctor told me it takes three full cycles for your AF to regulate. Not to sure if thats the case :fingerscrossed: this time month is:bfp:

With my first.......... one month
With my second.......... one month
With this one............. 5 months
I had been on the pill for 11 years continuously. Came off it, let my body go through one cycle, then fell straight away.
I had been concerned too about the long term effects of the pill. My GP also told me that it makes no difference to your fertility, regardless to how long you have been on it.

Hi
I was on the pill for about 4 years. Came off it and fell pregnant straight away.
Second time on I was on the pill for a year. Came off and fell pregnant straight away again.
So both times straight away.

Hi,
I have just come off the pill a month ago & my period was due yesterday - have taken 2 HPT's & both negative so gathering not pregnant & its just my system getting back to normal. Though have been felling more tired lately & have this small pain / cramp in upper stomach.
I read that it can take up to 6 months for your body to get back to normal - though have also read yr more fertile as soon as u come off the pill?? There doesn't seem to be a 1 def answer...

Wow!!! Every seems to have had alot of lucky falling preg. straight after the pill! I'm super jealous!!!
I had normal-ish periods before going on the pill (although sometimes they were on the short side- 25 day cycle), but after 8 years on it, my body is still trying to settle into a routine! I came off in Oct 08 and I'm currently on cycle #2- cd76ish? I've seen 2 doctors- both have said it's normal for ppl to experience long cycles after coming off the pill- as the body is not used to ovulating. One doctor told me that 12 months TTC is normal if you haven't been on the pill- it's 13 months after coming off the pill. Very similar time frames.

I came off the pill at the end of november 07 and am still not pregnant in my case though the pill was masking fertility issues which i figured out after having a 127 day cycle
I was 8 years on the pill and it took 8 months to fall pregnant. Meanwhile in that time i only had 3 periods, very frustrating!

Good news!!!!!!! I got a :bfp: yesterday!!! (well- 3- because I didn't believe the first! :p).
I'm now estimating I o'd on cd67 (guessing based on CM)! The pill definately screwed up my cycles- my first cycle after the pill was 49 days and this one would have been 81 days!
I'm going to try and get in for a blood test to confirm tomorrw- super excited (and just a little scared!).
Congratulations!!:)
Day 5 still nothing yet - test for 3rd time tomorrow, if 3rd times not lucky then will wait another week - hard to be patient with this stuff!
Congrats thats great news! :yelclap:
