I know that pul doesn't last forever, and I'm cool with that, but I have a GK Funtime with pul that has come away from the cotton outer- it is loose inside the pocket, and although I can still stuff and use the nappy, it wicks the instant she wees. It has been washed about twice weekly for 6 months... so that's not really that much is it??

I don't have a dryer to try and get the pul to re-adhere to the cotton, as I have heard for a while now that putting pul in the dryer from time to time can be good for it.

Any other hints?

Or do I just chuck it out?? To be honest, it isn't a print I'm particually fond of anymore and it's not like I'll shed tears over it :p But I'd rather salvage it if poss!!

Have you tried a hot wash Em or baking it in the sun once you've pulled it inside out so the PUL is on the outter ? You could give that a go to try and salvage it.

but... I honestly think that once it wicks (caused by PUL) there's not a whole lot you can do.

could u maybe put a sheet over it and iron it, the heat might stick it back?

On the subject of PUL I have 2 GKs and 2 Fruit Salad pockets where the PUL is bubbly. They are about 2 mths old (ie pretty new!), not wicking and only washed on cold/warm in front loader, dried in sun/shade (no dryer). Is this pretty normal for PUL?? Should I be doing something to flatten the PUL now?? Its becoming like bubbly contact on a book IYKWIM.

 Pookie I would have thought that your GK would last longer than 50 washes. Does ozcloth have any suggestions on keeping it going?!

Sorry, no. If they're relatively new, I'd be talking to the WAHM/manufacturer. Include details of all of the washing routines you've been using, with _any_ extras (including bicarb, vinegar, essential oils, etc etc etc), as well as the number of washes, etc. Helps them assess what the problem might be too.

I wash on hot (and the water here is REALLY hot, trust me! should turn it down actually) and the nappies bake all day in full sun. I'm pretty rough on the nappies so I guess I had it coming...

ZADA- I might give that a try, yanno? I mean, like I said, I'm not too fussed about throwing it out (it's no longer what I consider 'Ariene's Style' ) but it could be worth a try!!

Thanks Lara and beeware!!

Just found an interesting article when I googled PUL bubbling. If you can 'borrow' somebody's dryer, try it on high heat. I'd be interested in the resuts- guess you've got nothing to lose as it is wicking!!

Will let you know!! I'm happy to conduct any experiments on this pocket :D
