View Full Version : Help Me Please!!!!
I have just had my delivery of babybeehinds :smiliedance:
All set to go - have the hot water hose connected to the washing machine, the little squirt is connected to the toilet (thanks DH!!), got my bucket for dry pailing, etc......
Now ready to do the initial wash. HELP ME!!! It says to wash 3 times first, but do you dry them in between washes???
I know this is a stupid question, but don't want to make more work for myself if I dont need to
Thanks in advance guys!

Hi. Welcome to the world of MCN.
Yes, you will need to wash and dry at least 3 times before using. I know, it sux. You get your fluffy mail and all you wanna do is start using but there's the washing.
I just chucked mine in with every wash and hanging until I thought ready. But I did wash more than 3 times.
Nope you don't need to dry them between washes :) And remember also that they need about 10 washes to get to full absorbency.
Ok - now I'm confused!!! Might wait to get some more answers on this one considering I got a yes & a no
Thanks guys for replying :)

Bamboo doesn't need drying in between washes like hemp does (due to hemp fabric needing it's natural oils washed out). It also reaches full absorbancy somewhat faster then hemp.
I'd just add them to every wash over the next few days (making sure that you only use 1/3 - 1/2 the normal amount of powder) and before you know it they'll be ready to use.
So what did you get? A trial pack or a bulk pack? :D Great choice for your intro to MCN too!!

Wait, I'm really confused too? I would have thought there'd be more logic to washing and drying then washing and drying etc. Wouldn't that help with increasing the absorbency? Hmmm.
The BabyBeehinds website says to wash and dry...
I've always dried in between initial use washes...

Welcome to the world of MCNing
No drying inbetween washes like Bluey said. I've tried both ways and there's no difference. Just keep washing. Hot water washes will fast track absorbency for hemp and bamboo so you do need to do 3-5 (maybe more) washes in hot. 10 washes in cold for full absorbency. If after 3 washes the absorbency isn't the best, do not stress, the more washes the more absorbent. This was the big mistake i made first starting out with MCN. I ordered Baby Beehinds and sold them before washing them 10 times, big mistake but lesson learnt.
Have fun!
Thanks guys!
I got 10 babybeehinds & 8 Greenkids - washing machine here I come
I also didn't dry in between my initial washes and I washed in warm not hot and didn't have leakage issues as I just knew DS would need to be changed a little bit earlier then after some more washes. Who wants to wait 3 days to use them!
Chantell
That was what I was thinking!! Washing them & waiting for them to dry - it could be 2 weeks before I get to use them
Thanks guys - really appreciate the advice.
There's conflicting opinions on whether to dry in between. Look through maybe 2 or 3 websites and you'll find each one says to do something different.
I personally don't think you have to dry inbetween.
Do your 3-4 washes on hot, then just wash them with other loads of clothes on whatever temperature you want, that way you'll up the absorbancy easily.
