Hi
I'm sure I asked this ages ago, but my pregnant mushy brain has turned into tired mummy brain!
My baby was a lot smaller than anticipated, just over 3 kg (considering last one was over 4kg) and her nappies are just huge on her!!
Can anyone suggest a good newborn sized nappy? Seems like it will be ages before she fits her bbb and bp's, and I just don't want to keep using disposables.
Thanks!!
Hello Donna
First of all, congratulations!! wow, I missed the announcement! 3kg, what a tiny baby, your very lucky!!
I have bought lots of newborn naps for this coming baby, and some of the little ones Im impressed with are: (I know that the best are prefolds and covers etc, but I just love mcns..)
1. Touchin cloth on wahmania, they have some nb girls atm, they are a aio, and are only $10 each, they wash up a treat, and are just gorgeous!! I have bought about 4 of these, and will buy some more once the boy patterns come back in, and the lady who makes them is nice, I dont have any smalls, only nb, but they are tiny, and would be perfect for a 3kg baby! and for $10, for an aio, ya cant go wrong.
I cant say Ive used them yet, lol, I wish, but I think they will be a great fit..
EDIT: i JUST HAD A LOOK, AND THEY ARE 10% OFF, MAKING THEM $9, WOW, SHAME THERES NO BOYS!!
2. Kissaluvs are supposed to be good, I dont have any, but intend to get some, the cheapest Ive seen them is darlings downunder, and they have the hunt on this weekend, dont they? 10% off?
3. My dream is raphael's, I will get some, so if you can, they are soooooooooooo gorgeous!!
4. There is a few nb on wahmania or ozebaby atm, but I dont look at girly pattern, so dont know whats going there..
Ill keep thinking and have a look for ya.
But in the meantime, go look at the nb aio for $9, the pattern on the tabs is also the pattern on the inner..
The PP has given you some great ideas there! I also have some of the AIO's from WAHMania being made for me.
The other one on WAHMania is from ekidna designs. She does a pack with 2/3 fitted NB nappies and a minky cover. I have two of these sets. They are lovely.
I will be using the above for nights and I have some mandy macs for day use. They are nice and trim too but require a snappi.
If you message the mums on WAHMania and let them know your needs they will be more then happy to help and get them to you as soon as they can seems you are wanting to get bub out of disposable.

we used terry flats without covers during the day and with just one of those synthetic fluffy covers fromm kmart (she looked like bambam from the flinstones!) Clea was just over 3 kilos and we found that even sposies leaked with her.
I found the cheapest option with a newborn was DEFINATELY terry flats ..
bubbas grow SO quickly .. that Jack went from terries to MEDIUMS (which he is still in .. 17 months later!! eek!)
I would seriously consider .. just purchasing a few REALLY good quality covers (bummis... bbh covers etc) in the right size .. a few packs of flats .. and some microfleece inserts for dryness. (oh .. and if you want to BOOST the terries - you can also fold in some hemp! )
hope that helps

Hi!
Thanks for the replies! I have some terry flats - what fold did you use? I have tried the chinese fold and it is enormous on her, is there a better one to use?
Going to Wahmania to hunt now I have finally got her to sleep and Daddy has taken the big kids out!

The JO FOLD!!! I think it should be right... it's very trim, anyway. Check it out at 'the nappy lady' (google).
Not sure how it would go for newborn poo containment, but it's an idea anyway!
I reckon flats are underrated- just like MCN, there's no soaking, no pins- just a fold that's as quick as stuffing a pocket or finding the right snap-ins anyway!!
Snappi's are awesome- and used on different MCNs as well because of how good the fit is.
Then grab a few good quality covers and you're set until bub grows into those gorgeous MCNs.
Beautiful baby Donna!
Go for flats/pprefolds with cute covers maybe- good at home!

I'm going to be using terry flats (Jo fold) with Bummis covers for the first month or so, too..
I like the chinese/bat fold for littlies it is really easy to do...http://www.thenappylady.co.uk/Advice/Instructions.asp?InstructionID=2&index=4....it doesn't fit my bub now, so now I use the jo fold.

Thanks - I have tried the bat fold, kite fold, jo fold and all are huge on her - maybe my nappies are too new and fluffy! I really want to use my flats because I have tie-dyed some pink and they are just so funky!! I think I may have to just wait until she gets a bit bigger....I ordered a couple tic newborn with their sale and some kissaluvs from darlings in their sale so we'll see how they go - love these sales!!!!
I have also emailed re the wahmania ones so we'll see if we can get some of them!
Feel guilty buying new nappies when I have quite a few bigger ones, but guess I can always sell them when she grows out of them.....or use them for the next bubba

Has anyone tried the tic newborn size? Mine arrived today and they are the same size if not bigger than the size ones  . I am a bit disappointed as they won't fit for ages, so wondering whether to return them.

I have just folded them down, will try them on D when she gets up - they seem really wide also?
I got my kissaluvs - so so cute and teeny, thanks to Tania at darlings for the super fast service!! (love them!)

I got the natural ones because they were in stock - I would have had to wait for the colours - but they are still super cute!
I tried the TIC and they fit better than I thought they would, not sure how the containment of newborn poo would be though:rolleyes: , just gotta make sure my covers fit now!!
