Hi all,
My SIL informed me today that she is interested in MCN and wants to try them :smiliedance:
I don't think she's keen on outlaying a lot of $$$ so I'd like to give her a MCN kit as a baby gift when the bub is born to get her started.
I think she's due in about 2 months.
What would be good to get as a gift? She's having a boy.
I'm not sure how much I want to spend, but I can make some things myself so hopefully I can stretch it far.
I can try to make a few nappies but they will be a bit dodgy so I think I'd like to buy her one or two - I can make pocket inserts though.
I can also make wipes etc...
What do you think would be cool to receive after bubs is born to get started with cloth?

I would like one of the napp8ies covered kits - they have matching nappy and wet bag and some hemp & microfibre inserts I think. I bought one with a wet bag, 2 nappies, hemp inserts, bamboo wipes with small wet bag, all in matching fabrics. It was gorgeous.

Essentials for me would be
A green BBB and since she's not due yet wait until the baby beehinds PUL come and get one of those to match. But white PUL also because it's always good under white and light coloured clothes.
A berry plush in medium or large so it can be used as a cover over a BBB or BBH or other fitted as well as with it's own insert. No point in getting a small berry plush for a newborn in winter cause it will be all covered up.
A little squirt would be handy
Maybe a peapod or an itti
Definately a list or better still a gift voucher to buy more of her choice.
I am getting some special fitteds for my brother's baby due in a few weeks. They are snappi able so best for newborns and a great fit. I will try to be organised and also knit a soaker or tube.

actually the list idea is a great one....
print out a list of sites of different brands, types etc of nappies. maybe even washing instructions and even statistics on how MCN is preferable over disposable.....or would that be going a bit too far :o

Great topic ... I was actually going to ask the same thing! A good friend of mine is keen on using cloth, she was going to use flats, which is fine, but I thought something special (lile a few covers etc) would be a great idea - and unique! She's not due till October, so I've got heaps of time to explore!
Will be keeping an eye on the thread for different ideas ...

Some friends of ours are due in september.
I am going to get them a fitted nappy, probably a BBB and knit them a wool cover.

this is a little off topic, but would it be rude to ask for gift vouchers for your baby shower for mcn ???
Put a list of sites in with the invites they can purchase the gift vouchers from...or is that kind of pushing it a bit too far.

Tanni, I would much rather give $$ or a voucher towards what someone would want rather than giving them something they won't use or don't need.
Or maybe, look at doing something like a 'wishing well' you see at weddings ... just put a cute little note in their invite asking them for $$ to be put in an envelope on the day (so it can be anonymous for those that would rather do that) and then you can purchase what you'd like then.

For someone planning to use flats- I'd give them a good pul cover and a soaker.
My SIL is having a baby in August (I think) and I plan on getting her a BBB and a pul cover. My mum is knitting her a soaker.
Kym, I like the idea of snappi-able nappies for newborns too- much better fit  Hadn't thought of it before though!
Are nuture nappies still doing that pack to test out different nappies. You choose the size you want. Some great little sets from Ekidna designs on WAHMania too. She does a pack with 3 NB fitted nappies and a minky cover. They are so adorable, I got two for myself. You could always message her for an order if none are available. There is also a NB AIO on WAHMania that is only $10! It would be nice for something special.
