Hello,
I am new to the area, and I was wondering if anyone can tell me some really good parks to take the children to. I have 2 girls age 2 and 4.

I live in the Hills, but I am more than happy to travel an hour for a good place.

I find there are loads of little parks, but they only have one swing, one slide, one bouncy thing and within 10 mins, the kids have had enough and want to go home.

I am looking for a park I can spend a couple of hours at, or take a picnic and spend all day.

I have lived in England for the last 6 years and whilst I find they don't have as many parks they have good ones.

The one we used to frequent alot had a sand pit, with a huge ship in the middle. Paddling pool, 4 slides, for different ages. about 8 swings, roundabouts, 3 different climbling frames, seesaw, loads of bouncy things, and a huge grass area, for ball games and picnics.
It was council run, and the kids loved it.

Is there anything like that here???
Anywhere in Sydney... and ideas, please help...

And thank you...
Jo :hugs:

the only good one i can think of is the one that they often hold bubhub meets at. its in homebush and its called bicentennial park. its near a cafe and is under a shade cloth. there is a grass area for ball games and if you walk away from the park a little there are other things there. probably ponds with birds or places to see wildlife...i cant exactly remember.

but thats all i know close to me...sorry i cant be of more help.

i just found the name of the one i was talking about. its western sydney regional park

http://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/parks.nsf/ParkContent/N0631?Opendocument&ParkKey=N0631&Type=xo

when i worked for a special needs respite centre we use to take the children there, the park really gets the minds of children working with all the play equipment

I second the Darling Harbour nomination. There's a small sandpit area, swings, climbing frames, slides, grass area for picnics, a pond for paddle boats, a carousel, lots of cafes and things for lunch/snacks. There's also the Sydney Aquarium and Wildlife World on the other end.

Lots to do! :D

Putney park is fabulous!!!
Also on the Northern Beaches you can go to Clontarf reserve. It is on the water so the kids can swim in the beach (not a rough beach, quite still ). There is play equipment, picnic spots and a cafe.
