Does anyones bub have a reaction with Panadol?

Ava had a cold last week and I gave her some Panadol. I had trouble getting her off to sleep that morning and she was rubbing her eyes like mad. I just assumed it was the cold that was making her like this.

Anyway we have just returned from her 4 month needles and she has had a bit more panadol on advice from the doctor and she has been the same. Very irritated eyes and just did not want to go off to sleep, as tired as she was.

Has anyone else had a reaction like this with Panadol and do you know of anything that you could use in it's place.

Hopefully we won't need to use any for quite a while but would be nice to know there was something else available that was as gentle (or supposed to be) for babies.

I found the Brauer products good.

Am I allowed to mention products here?

Product mentioning is fine - as long as you aren't personally benefiting from the sales! :D

I love the Brauers stuff too. We've never had any side effects from Panadol though, so I can't help you there. But it you are concerned, a trip to the docs might reassure you?

Hi JustCooked
DD2 hated baby panadol and when we asked the chemist, there is another paracetamol product you can use. Dymaddon is a liquid, like panadol for babies but doesn' taste as disgusting. Can't say about red itchy eyes though.

Cheers

I wish I had shares in Brauer, I think I would be a rich lady! ;)

I've also heard that NUROFEN for bubs is great- and has an anti inflamitory so is really good for teething bubs! But i can't say from personal experience as I've only use Panadol and Brauers!

Haven't seen any kind of reaction in DS after panadol... I'd pop off to the GP if you are really concerned or ask the chemist... I've heard nurofen is good but I think it is for bubs 6 months and older...

Good luck

DS reacts really badly to Panadol - projectile vomiting almost immediately which is terrible when he's unwell to start with.

I've used the Dymadon (sp?) as well but he didn't really like it. We use Nurofen now and it has been great. He'll open his mouth for it because it actually tastes good - no side effects at all and we've used it in the past for fever reduction due to ear infections.

DD also projectile vomits from Panadol, have only ever given it to her twice and twice she vomited as soon as she had swallowed it. We use Dymadon and Brauers with no problems at all.
