My bubba boy is three months old. He currently feeds every three hours and has five feeds a day. The formula tin says he is to have five feeds over twenty four hours which he is getting during the day as he sleeps all the way through the night. Now my mother and SIL keep telling me that he should be feeding every four hours. To me it doesnt make sense because his first feed of the day is 8:30am and if he fed every four hours to have five feeds in the day his last feed would be at 12:20am! It may seem obvious to you guys but do you think its ok for DS to be have three hourly feeds? Am i worrying over nothing?
feed bub when he is hungry:) The tin is just a guide so if hes happy now keep doing what your doing:thumbsup:
Agreed
Katie feeds every 3 hrs during the day and sleeps through as well and she was born 24th Dec so the same age
Gaining weight, happy baby
Its fine, dont worry
BTW sooo jelous of sleep all night, my bub still has 2 feeds:thumbsdown:

Yep, I agree too! My DD was also born on 24th Dec (1 day early thankfully!:)). She also sleeps thru and will have 5 feeds a day. She is definitely hungry for 3 hrly feeds - on the odd occasion she might stretch it to 4 hours, but generally it is 3.

I agree too. If you are unsure-which I was recently, call Child health line or take bub to the midwife to be weighed, they have great advise for telling you how much and how often he should be having. I found them invaluable-even with my second who is only 1 week old-how quickly you forget!!Now bub is settling nicley.
I'm pretty sure your bub is craming the day feeds in so he CAN sleep through the night. That is the trick with some babies - get enough calories during the day = big sleep at night. Sometimes family's "helpful hints" should remain thought and not said. Go off your instinct - you KNOW what to do with your baby.

feed bub when he is hungry and smile politely at your Mum and SIL ......sounds like he is doing great and I agree with Naomi, bub is eating enough during the day and that way he sleeps all night...our little girl does the same thing.......
at the end of the day, its your baby and you keep on doing what feels right....you are doing great!
My bub is 5 months tomorrow and has never gone "by the tin" or what the mums & mil's have said. He has 5 bottles a day and about every 3 hours (although the last 2 bottles are only 1 1/2 - 2 hours apart but that is what he wants).
He is happy and healthy and I do what he wants, and the tins are only guides. By the tin, DS should be on 200-250ml per bottle - he struggles to drink 180ml at the best of times.

lol our bubs must be twins.....my bub sometimes has even less or more.......and now i follow her guide she is a lot happier....( she was 5 mths on the 7/4) ..i think the reason she cried so much when she was little was that i didnt let her guide me and she was probably starving:eek: ..she has 2 solid feed a day as well
