View Full Version : November mums
Hi all November mums !!
Hope we can keep in touch as hearing how you and your babies are going is always great :)
hugs to you all
Great idea moving to here :) The other thread was getting rather long.
I really can't believe how fast the last few weeks have past. Sienna will be 5weeks old tomorrow...then christmas a few days after that
DS and I have had a very quiet morning with no interruptions :) Sienna decided that she would stay awake most of the night, she woke up for a bottle at about 2:30am, played...she had another bottle at 5:30am then played some more then had anpther bottle at 8:30am and finally went back to sleep. Bottles every 3hrs is normal, & I'm sure she would have had some sleep thru the night, it just didn't seem like much.
I woke her up and she has just finished a bottle and now she looks like she is going back to sleep again. Oh how I'd love to be able to sleep thru the day, unfortunatly DS doesn't sleep anymore and if I leave him alone he'll trash the place.
Hope you all have a great christmas and new year :D
Great idea moving the thread Tracey:)
Elysha stayed awake most of yesterday and last night (till 2am) the night before was awake from 1-30-4 so I have an extreme case of tireness today :o
The last few weeks have gone so fast (5 weeks old yesterday) its amazing how fast shes growing:)
Hope everyone & bubs are doing well and getting ready for Christmas - Elysha is going to have a busy one with all BF's family things that are on - Most of my brothers are in QLD this year so there is nothing as yet planned down here for my family I dont think but you never know what will be arranged afterwards. This Christmas at least have that special little person to share it with:)

Hi everyone,
A brand new thread! Thanks Tracey ;)
Little Ben has been developing his cry over this week - turned into a bit of a screamer pulling Mum's heart strings! Still - very lucky as he sleeps between feeds at night time! He's hit 4.5 kgs now, and I'm feeling his new kgs when putting him in his car seat!
Is anyone else missing being pregnant? :o I remember reading a thread about it when I was pregnant, thinking the people posting were mad, but now I feel the same! It was so sad to pack away my maternity clothes!
We're off to Bendigo for Ben's first Christmas, so hope he's a good man for his relatives! (Have bought ear plugs for everyone as peace offerings!):D
Happy Festive Season everyone ... :)

Hi
Im Nikki
I have Tayissa Josie Nichole who was born on the 24th November 2005.
Look forward to chatting to you all :D
At work and things are pretty slow so thought I'd say hi, I'll let Joey know this thread is here too. I usually only post in the 'DADS' section of the forum, here's my latest - by way of introduction....sorry it's so long!:o
Matthew was born 17th Nov. at 1905 after a 16 hour labour, weighing 7 pound 7, 52 cms long. Joey coped really well for the first 10 hours or so, then opted for an epidural. Matthew was OP, so various positions were adopted during the labour to try and get him to face the right way – to no avail. Was kind of scary during the labour, as with each contraction Matthew’s heartbeat would fluctuate between 160 and 80 (from memory). He seemed to be almost ‘out’ for soooo long, eventually our OB (Dr. Keeping) decided to use suction and performed an episiotomy to extract him. Things happened really quickly then, and Matthew was out within minutes.
Matty initially had some breathing trouble – sounding really raspy/gurgley – the paediatrician said it was more than likely amniotic fluid on the lungs from a difficult birth, but to be safe – in case it was a lung infection – they placed him on antibiotics and in a humidicrib in intensive care for 12 hours. He was back with mum by the following morning.
Joey sent 4 days in the Mater, thankfully my shifts allowed me to visit every day for at least a couple of hours – I could have slept there in an arm chair but it wasn’t comfortable – after which we all returned home.
We tried breastfeeding for about 3.5 weeks – Joey had passed through the worst of the pain by that stage and things were going quite well (apart from sleep deprivation) then her milk suddenly didn’t seem to be keeping Matthew satisfied. The local government run child and family clinic told us he should have gained the weight he had, by the end of the second week (only 175 grams!). At this stage we made the decision to opt for formula, at least then we could be certain Matty was getting sufficient nourishment. Because we could watch him drink what we had prepared, if he was still crying afterwards then he was upset for some other reason – this was our reasoning.
It was amazing how much the stress levels dropped immediately. Joey had increasingly been showing signs of strain, Matthew was constantly crying and hungry and what had previously satisfied him (40 min on a breast) wasn’t enough. Sleep deprivation was only a side issue – it was heart-wrenching hearing Matty crying and having him trying to suck the skin on my shoulder after a 40 - 50 minute feed, and seeing the anguish on Joanne’s face. Poor wife was worried I’d be upset with her or think she was a failure for giving up, which only contributed to her worries.
Since then things have progressed well for all of us. Joanne is able to get more sleep, as I am able to assist with feeding, Matty has gained some healthy weight – we can observe exactly how much he has consumed rather than guessing, and I have to admit my stress levels are lower too.
Matthew was 5 weeks old yesterday.
That’s all from me for now (long post!). Hope you guys and all your families are doing well too. Have a happy and safe Christmas and new year.
Andre.

Thanks Tracey for starting this thread! So how is everyone? Hope the xmas festivities are going great!
Hi Nikki,Congratulations on the arrival of your little girl!Tayissa is a beautiful name!
Bella28-I have also been wishing (at times) that I was still pregnant!I really love the anticipation of the new arrival!Ha ha but I'm sure I would never have thought that 6 weeks ago!I remember thinking that people who told me to just wait it out must either have never been overdue before or just completely MAD!!
Hmmm well busy busy around here! We've been away for a few days, spending a few days with my family before xmas, ha ha thank god that's over;) Ellie is now a bottle baby:( But she is a lot happier and I tried my hardest............She was awake and feeding constantly off me from 1am til 8am and still hungry so I gave in and gave her a bottle of formula...........needless to say she won't go back now:rolleyes: Oh well, I am pretty upset about it but more for selfish reasons!I really wanted to feed her and didn't want to have to make up and carry around bottles all the time!
Apart from that she and the rest of the family are going great guns!!We actually spent the day ski-ing today so everyone's in bed!YAY ha ha!
cwsmum- I hope Sienna's nightfeeds settle down a bit so that you can get a good sleep! It's really hard when you have more than one baby to look after.....Her night-time schedule is sounding like Ellie's at the moment aaargh ;)
Hope everyone has a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!I probably won't get the chance to chat again until after, so enjoy and be safe!

Looks like we posted at the same time! Congratulations on your new arrival Matthew!
It's so great hearing the Dad's side of the story!Like Joanne, I also felt that I was a failure because Ellie was constantly feeding but in the long run you have to do what's right for your baby.
Sounds like the birth didn't go so well:( Hope your DW is feeling alot better now!
Anyway have a very Merry Christmas and hope to chat to you afterwards!
Hi
I think I should probably be in bed now, but it's just too hot to sleep :(
Hi Nikki and welcome. I love your daughters name. Looking foward to getting to know you.
Andre, your Matthew was born exactly 2 hours before my Sienna :) I was also at the Mater Mothers, I was in the public hospital, only stayed there 2 nights tho coz I missed my comfy bed and my DS, who is 2.5yrs old.
Nara, I know what you mean about not wanting to have to carry bottles around all the time. DS was bottlefed from 1week old coz he was tongue tied and breastfeeding was very painful. I was hoping to be able to breastfeed this time and thought it waould be less painful coz Sienna is not tongue tied, but i think it was actually more painful. We put her on formula at about 1 week old too.
It's not only the carrying them around that gets annoying after a while, it's the constant washing and sterilising of the bottles, the smell of the formula...and bubs nappies... ...and the extra expense of buying the formula.
I guess the fact that other family members can be involved in feeding bub can only be a good thing...now if only I could convince DH that she won't break when he tries to burp her, I might actually get outta the house alone for a few hours one day soon.
Ok, I think that's enough from me for now.
Have a very Merry Christmas and fantastic New Year everyone :D
Hi Nikki Welcome and Congrats on the arrival of Tayissa and congrats Joey and Andre on Matthew's arrival is good hes all ok now:)
Elysha's still got her cold so last night was waking and feeding every couple of hours but not for long think had some problems with her nose being stuffy and the hot weather (was about 36 here yesterday) - this morning since i used the saline drops shes feeding a lot better. Actually have got a breast pump now so can express (havent tried it yet though) am hoping this will fill her more up in the evenings (after shes drained me LOL) so she can sleep better - was getting a little worried that she wasnt getting enough also but has been gaining weight ok recently - I wont know about her weight gain currently though till Jan 11 cause my maternal child health center is closed so the next check she gets is her 8 week one.
I have to say I dont miss being pregnant really at present though you never know that might change ;) though am sorta missing an uninterupted sleep lol
Have a safe and happy Christmas and New Year everyone:)
Just arrived home from work. There is nothing on television this morning, no news paper to read, I've watched all the dvd's we own, Joey is fast asleep and Matthew is trying to fill a nappy (judging by the grunting going on next to me) - think we'll have to take the dog for a walk while we wait for mum to wake up.
With out turning this into yet another forum devoted to breast vs. bottle feeding I'd like to note: We're aware of the benefits associated with breast feeding and would have loved to breast feed for as long as possible, but a combination of circumstances I've already covered, wouldn't allow it. Yet, there is a positive side to just about every situation.
(just picked Matty up and got a huge smile! :D)
For me, the costs associated with formula feeding are out-weighed by it's advantages....Joey gets to rest more than with breast-feeding, she's not in agony with each feed from Matty chewing on her, and on a completely selfish note - I love being able to feed the litte man:).
Gonna be a scorcher in Brissy today, is anyone else here finding their little one suffers from heat rash? Matty has it oh his face and neck. We've tried bepanthen which seems to have been effective in reducing the inflamation over the last 24 hours - any other suggestions.
Hope you other mums and dads have a great Chrissy.
Andre and Matty and sleeping Joey.
Hi all !!
How was everyones Christmas?? Ours was lovely (apart from the inlaws  but thats another story...) We had a wonderful day with Samuel especially, he really got into it
Welcome to Joey and Andre and little Matthew and also to Nikki and little Tayissa
Andre - Ethan has had a little heat rash but its very mild so we are just leaving it be... perhaps pawpaw ointment would help?
Nara - How you going girl ?? I hope Ellie is getting into a better routine for you now?
To CWsmum, Nara, Andre/Joey and any other bottle feeding mums/dads!! - good on you all for giving b/f a go !! It cant always work for everyone and whatever you do, dont let anyone make you feel bad for doing it !! as long as your bubbas are fed then your being the best mum/dad that you can be :) Andre - i agree with all of your points, except maybe the cost thing !! yikes i really felt it when we changed with Samuel... $$$ Mind you if i had been having pain with it then maybe i'd have felt differently... anyway so far so good with Ethan, he is feeding really well and i am having no pain.
Cathyn - i hope Elyshas cold is getting better, poor little thing
Bella28 - I am missing being pregnant !! How crazy are we!!?? all we can do is complain until its over and then when it is over we miss it !! LOL
Anyway i really hope all are well, look forward to your Chrissy stories
**hugs**

I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas! We had a ball escept Ellie slept through most of it ha ha!
Andre- I hope you don't think I meant anything harsh towards bottle-feeding.Both of my sons were bottle-fed also. I just meant in my situation, I REALLY wanted to breastfeed Ellie.I do know that "Breast is best" but every baby/mother is different and it's not always possible to breastfeed. All that matters IMHO is that the end result is a healthy/happy bub.I think it's great that you enjoy feeding Matthew, my DH loves being able to feed Ellie, even the night feeds ha ha YAY!
Tracey- Ha ha I know what you mean about the in-laws!But oh well, we enjoyed our day regardless!
Cwsmum- How is Sienna's night routine now? Hope she's getting alot better for you.Ha ha my DH is the opposite, he burps too hard sometimes!Either that or I'm very over-protective!It's annoying though because I'll be sitting there for ages waiting for a burp and he'll walk over and one tap she's done AAARGH!!
Cathy- How are you and Elysha going??I really hope she's over her cold. It's nasty that they can sick when they're so little hey.Have you tried your pump yet?
Anyway I better get going, hmm either clean the house or veg in front of tv!! Ha ha decisions decisions!:p
We had a good Christmas at my BF's family lunch and Dinner and Elysha slept most of the day also which made it easier (though a few relatives didnt get to hold her since she was asleep most of the time) , though Christmas lunch she smelt it ARGHH late lunch again for me:rolleyes:
Nara, I havent tried the pump as yet but will soon make it easier with the night if I can give her extra then I think
Tracey/Nara her colds a little better though in the mornings she gets stuffed up a little I find.
Shes gained a bit of weight I think but we wont know untill Jan 11 when has her 8 week check up with the CHN cause my centers closed for 3 weeks.
Take care everyone and hope you have a safe and happy New Year:)

Hi all,
I have been around for a while due to christmas and everything but my baby Ashleigh was born in November as well.
Ashleigh is going well, she has had her leg out of plaster for Christmas. It is her first time without plaster since she was born on the 3rd of November. Plaster was due to club foot. We are going back to physio on the 4th January to see whether the plaster has to go back on. She is also having physio on her neck as she is favouring on side and they are worrying that she is getting a flat head. Ashleigh is now on her 4th lot of formula since being born due to reflux. She is now on prescription formula. They think that she has allergies. On the 3rd January she is going for her first lot of needles. I will let you know how she goes.
Our Christmas was a quiet one spent at home with only a few visitors as we went to Sydney the weekend before and did our christmas thing. The kids enjoyed the day and I think we all had a snooze that afternoon because we were so tired from the heat.

Thankyou for the warm welcomes !!!:D
Joey: i know exactly where you and your wife are coming from. I went through the exact same thing with Tayissa, i was feeding her for 2 hours at a time and with a 20 month old it was impossible. Turns out Tayissa has a tongue tie and it makes it hard for her to latch on. She is on formula now and things are getting better.
I hope everyone and there babies are well:o
Hi
All is well here, a little hot here in Brissy, even at 10pm, but we are surviving. Luckly neither of my kids have had heat rash so far this summer, probably coz we got to my parents almost every day to use their pool :D Sienna doesn't go in, she has a little boat that we lay her in so the water cools her down without her getting wet.
Sienna is 6 weeks old today. That means needles soon  I'll probably do that next thursday, and also get her weighed, etc...coz we haven't done that since she was 8days old, I was a bit naughty and missed the 4week check-up :o
It will be interesting to see just how much she has grown coz she still fits 0000 size clothes, even the bonds suits which seem to be slightly smaller sizing than other brands. Anyone else still have a bub in 0000's?
Good to hear everyone had a great chrissy, hope you all have a great new year too :D
Cwsmum - 0000 !!!! No way !! hehe
Ethan is just squeezing into most 000 (depending on brands).
He was weighed at 4 weeks (and 2 days) old and is now 10lb 4oz thats a gain of 2lb2oz since birth !! Incredible !! he has also grown 6cm since birth (now 56.5cm long)!! he is such a boofer :D
He is the same height and weight that DS#1 Samuel was at 8 weeks old ! (mind you Samuel did come 4 weeks early so technically speaking they are on par...hehe)
Nikki - i also have a 21 monther and even feeding every 4 hours is hard so i can imagine how hard it would have been every 2 hours !!
Michele - it sounds as though you have been down a tough road with little Ashleigh.. i hope things start to improve for you. I hope she doesnt have to have the plaster back on and that the physio and the needles go well, let us know.
Cathyn - hope Elyshas cold is 100% better by now...
Nara - we will have to exchange Christmas day inlaw stories soon !! hehe
to everyone else hope you are all well and bubs are doing great...
HAVE A GREAT NEW YEARS EVE AND NEW YEARS DAY !!

Hi,
Ashleigh is now wearing some 000 clothing and also 00 clothing. She likes her tucker and is growing very fast. I have to go and have her weighed again as the last time she was weighed was when she was 5 weeks old and now she is 8 weeks old.
How is your babies sleeping at night. Ashleigh has her good nights and her bad nights. Her bad nights she is waking every 3-4 hours for a feed. Her good nights she has been sleeping 6 hourly. The other night she actually slept from 9pm to 5am in the morning. It gave me much needed sleep. I hope she can start to sleep that long every night.
What are you doing for New years eve. We are having a quiet night at home watching the fireworks on the telly. Wishing everyone a happy new year if I don't get a chance tomorrow to say it.

Oh! Here you all are! Good idea to move us, Tracey! Took me a while to find it, but I'm here, now!
Soooo, nice to hear how everyone's babies are going. They are growing soo fast aren't they??
Welcome to all the new Novembr mums, dads and babies who I haven't met before! Nice to have you aboard. I do hope to get to know you all better.
cwsmum - yes, Eden is 6 weeks old on Monday and she is still in 0000 clothes, too!! It's hilarious! She has soooo many 000 and 00 clothes and she can't wear any of them yet, but I'm sure it won't be long.... She's putting on weight so I'm not too worried. She has put on over 2 lbs since birth and is heaps longer, but the 0000 stuff was too big for her then!! She fits it properly now.
Well, I'm off to feed the little miss again. :) Will visit again soon.
HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL! :p
Love,
Nan. xx
Hey Nan
Glad you found us !!
Great pic by the way.. so cute !! :p
It's 11:30pm, well it is here in brissy anyway, and I am home alone again this New Years :( DH has gone to the RSL with his friend, it's only 5mins walk from our house so at least I know he can get home easily...unless he drinks too much and falls over, which wouldn't surprise me :D
So...how was everyone elses new years? More exciting than mine, or at least a bit less lonely, I hope.
Nan - How big was Eden when she was born? Sienna was 7lb 15oz, and 50cm long...that's why I am so surprised that she is still fitting 0000's.
She does wear some 000's, but anything other than bonds stuff still looks big on her. I get so bored just dressing her in bodysuits all the time, lucky bonds makes some really cute little skirts, coz most of the dresses I have are 000's but they are still way too big.
Sienna decided to sleep from 8:30pm - 6:15am last night :D Hopefully this means I will get a full night sleep again soon. She had her last bottle at about 10pm tonight...
It's not that I mind getting up to feed her, it's just that she has been sleeping from about 7pm - 1am or 2am, and coz we have been sooo busy lately I have been going to bed late and it has felt like as soon as I fall asleep she wakes up...and I don't get a chance to sleep in coz DS wakes up about 6am, or earlier if I'm really lucky
So, hopefully last night was a sign that she will be sleeping thru the night most nights soon...DS did from about 6 or 7 weeks...til we moved house when he was 12mths and he started waking up again, but thats a whole other story.
Well, it's bed time for me...hopefully not to be woken til it's daylight...
Happy New Year everyone

Hi everyone!:)
I gave birth to my daughter, Amelia on the 7th November 2005 at 8:13pm at the Mater Mothers Hospital, South Brisbane. I have been around the forums a bit but not lately. Christmas has just been so hectic! But I am here and ready to get to know other mums who had a baby in the same month as me! I can't wait to talk to you all.
Hi all, thought I’d post a reply using my own brand new avatar etc. Thanks for the welcome and all the positive comments. Matty’s heat rash has all but cleared up; the Bepanthen seems to have done the trick nicely - although we’d prefer the luxury of taking him for a swim to control it (cwsmum)! :D
Michele hope Ashleigh’s visit to the physio. goes smoothly and good luck with the reflux and needles, we’re due to get Matthew’s soon too. He seems to sleep quite soundly at night as a general rule, but only in stretches of around 4-5 hours – when he wakes up for a feed. I’m hoping this will extend as he gets older, trouble is he doesn’t seem to be drinking any more at each feed than he was 2 weeks ago. Should he be having larger feeds as he gets older (6 weeks now)?
Hey Nan, pleased to meet you, and you too mummy2amelia, congratulations on your new arrival!:) We went through the Mater as well and found it very good. Would have liked Joey to stay in a couple more days before coming home though - felt she could have done with some more help with the whole breast-feeding thing and the breast-feeding specialists there were excellent.
Anyone here have any experience with Anglecare movement monitors? We’ve just shifted Matty into the cot from the bassinet – where the monitor worked like a dream. In the cot, however, it seems to be ultra receptive even at it’s lowest setting – to the extent it’s sensing the ceiling fan! The trouble with this is that even without the little fella in the cot, the receiver pad detects the draught (or something) and consequently doesn’t go into alarm mode.
I really love this gizmo, as I’m a little high-strung  when it comes to Matty’s health, it allows me to relax and get a little sleep at night without getting up at the smallest whimper.
OOOPS! Logged in as Joey...next time then!!

Hi,
How is everyone handling the heat. Today was the hottest day in January since 1939. I live on the central coast and we have fires on our major freeway to Sydney and have just been told the freeway is closed and no trains are running. Just had a phone call from friends who live at Kariong and we might be getting visitors to stay because they might be getting evacuated.
Ashleigh is now on medicated formula for her reflux. She is on peptic junior and is on less in mls than when she was on soya. Soya she was on 180ml but now she is on the medicated formula she is back to 120ml. Joey is Matty on formula and what formula is he on. 6 weeks of age and he should be on about 120ml. I think when they are 2 months of age they go up to 180ml.
Welcome to mummy2Amelia. Yeah Christmas was hectic for us and I am glad it is over, now we can get back to normal. 2 of my kids might be going to spend some time with my mum in Sydney this week (that is if the fires don't close the freeway for days on end). We have a busy couple of days with Ashleigh this week, Tuesday we go to the doctors to get her 2 month needles and Wednesday we go to Physio to see about her legs.

Amelia is having her first lot of immunisations on the 6th January, she will be 1 day off 8 weeks. Also I have a question...Amelia is fully formula fed and should be having 120ml and that will be going up to 180ml when she is 2 months i think but she can hardly get through 120ml, sometimes she will only have 60ml or 100ml. Lately for the past few days she has hardly been eating, just a few 40ml's here and there, but not a full feed...should I be worried? Do i wait and just bring it up at the appointment this week?
Hi Everyone hope you all had a great New Years and welcome Mummy2amelia:)
The heat here on NY's Eve was around 42 way too hot and Elysha (aka EJ) spent most of the day in just a nappy (1st time actually she hasnt worn a singlet so she wasnt too impressed at the start) in front of a fan she also got a cool bath in the big bath though she didnt like the taps over her much. Im hoping it doesnt get as hot as that again..
EJ's out of 0000 cause of her length but the 000 are still pretty loose in the body Im finding a lot of 000 are pretty variable really some seem pretty short compared to others Ive seen (she was 7lb 1oz and 50cm when born and at 4weeks was 8lb 3 and 53.1cm)
Michelle hope all goes well with Ashleigh with her immunisations and the physio -Elysha has her immunisations on 18/1 so will be 9 weeks when has them.
Tracey is great Ethan's growing so well Im hoping Elysha will be over 9lb by her next appointment with the CHN (11/1).
Nan good to see you found us and time does fly they are growing so fast I agree when I look back on the pics from her 1st weeks its amazing the change.
Joey havent heard of that monitor but i know what you mean on getting up at the smallest wimper - I still check shes breathing during the night if shes been quiet for longer than usual (I have her portacot bassinet in the room with me)
Mummy2amelia I have no idea on how much EJs eating when feeds as is breastfed but I find in the heat she feeds a lot more often and for shorter times than when its cooler.
Hope everyone and their bubs are well and that if its hot where you are that your keeping as cool as can be:)
Hi everyone.
Sounds like the heat is geting to a lot of you Eastern States people - you poor things. Hope this cooler weather is better. Adelaide must have passed on our heat to you!! We had it a few days after Christmas and it was humid and horrible.
cwsmum, Eden was only 5lb 8oz when born, so she is growing in leaps and bounds. It's strange how they all grow at different rates isn't it??
Cathyn, I'm glad you said that about Elysha's eating habits as Eden has been the same (lots of shorter feeds in hot weather) and I was thinking something was wrong! I didn't have enough milk or something. She has had less and longer feeds recently.
Sorry Joey, haven't heard of that monitor. I don't know much about any of them as we don't use one.
Thanks Tracey! I think the pic is cute, too!!
mummy2amelia, good luck with the immunisations. Do you think you'll be okay?? I'm not sure how I'm going to be when Eden has hers. Hmmm, guess I'll wait and see. I hate to see her cry. It's hard when you can't do anything to stop it.
Michelle, I do hope Ashleigh's legs are healing well and you get a good, positive report today.
Catch you all soon.
Love,
Nan. xx

How is everyone?Hope everyone is keeping out of this heat.........Thank god for airconditioning ha ha!Don't know if many of you remember but we had a big one installed the day I gave birth to Ellie. At the time I remember thinking DH was mad, ha ha because we always have a good breeze but phew thank god he talked me into it.
Nan- Glad to see you found us!I was wondering where you were!
Sorry I can't remember who asked, but yes Ellie is still in some 0000's as long as they're short suits.I actually bought her a 0000 xmas suit (so it would fit on the day) but we had to cut the feet out of it because it was too short!
Well I just took her to the clinic and she is now 8lb 13! Ha ha I knew she was getting bigger but wow! She's put on 3lb since she was born 7 wks 1 day ago.AARGH Cathy can you believe they are that old already??
Michelle- I hope the needle's went ok yesterday and that the physio has some good news for you today.
Mummy2amelia-Have you tried giving Amelia some cooled boiled water??Ellie was doing the same thing with the drinking so I tried giving her water and it seems to work.Just 50ml when they've already had a feed but are whinging IYKWIM.In this heat I think sometimes they need extra water......
Well I better get going, ha ha about to dig up my garden YAY:rolleyes: Although I have to do it while DH is willing;)
Hi Everyone,
Glad to hear that all the babies are doing so well. Niamh had her 6 week check up last week and everything is fine. She is putting on heaps of weight(still wears 0000's though) and only wakes for one feed through the night, so I am getting enough sleep. I have to be careful with DS as he can be a bit rough with her sometimes, but he is coping really well with the change. The only problem I am having is with heat rash, despite having an airconditioner. I think it is the baby capsule. I find that she gets really hot when we have been somewhere in the car, eventhough we have tinted windows, airconditioning and make sure we park undercover. I have also found that she doesn't like to sleep on her back. If I put her on her back she wakes after about 10 mins. It is a bit scarey with the SIDS warnings, but I don't really feel that I have much choice. Does anyone else put their baby to sleep on their tummy?
Audrey
Hello everyone...
We gave birth to our second child, a boy, at The Mater in Sydney on 18/11/05 (I reckon we must have been in there the same time as you, Joey). We were 4 days overdue and so they induced me by breaking my waters. 4.25 hours later, a 9lb 1 oz baby arrived - bigger than our little girl who was 3 weeks early and only 7lb 1oz. Quite a shock to see that scrotum on my chest when they gave me the baby as I was certain it was going to be a girl!!
I found the last few weeks of pregnancy really painful with the weight of the baby, but yep - it's all forgotten and I could easily do it all again tomorrow!
Joey - we have the same monitor as you. Used the same brand for #1 but lent it to friends so had to get another one for DS as they are still using it. I find it great but I know what you mean about the sensitivity. We can hear the fan blowing when we use the speaker part outside... and strangely enough, we can sometimes hear other people through it - like we're picking up the noises in someone elses house nearby who may have a similar monitor. Have you ever experienced this??
We're off for our 6-8 week check-up this afternoon. He had put on 1.5kg in the first 3 weeks so it will be interesting to see what he is now!! I know it feels like he weighs a tonne sometimes!
Cheers. :)

Hi everyone,
Congrats Nellsy on the birth of your baby boy. LOL about wanting to do it all over again, I was the same. I was still in hospital when I was saying that I will be going back for number 6. I won't be trying this year but will be next year.
Regarding the weather, this weather is insane. On New Years day it was 47 degrees, four days later it was 23 degrees lower and it was only 22 degrees. Who can get used to this weather.
Regarding Ashleigh's needles, she was not impressed and was very unsettled for hours after. I kept the panadol up to her all day and the next day she seemed to be better. Regarding her physio on her legs, I have to do plenty of stretches on her left leg to try and get foot to straighten that way. I have to go back on the 1st Feb. She still might have to go back into plaster if this does not work. She is also having physio on her neck as she is favouring one side more than the other.

Manda85- Congratulations on your little girl!Tahlia's such a pretty name. And I hope to get to know you too!
Nellsy-Congratulations on your little man!LOL gotta love those scrotums! 4 and a quarter hours??? WOW!Hmmm I think I still hold November's record for quickest labour though, 1hr 20mins!! When she finally decided to come:eek:
Michelle- AARGH needles, I have to take Ellie on Tuesday for hers, although I think I might put it off until Wednesday so DH can take her:o It's good though that Ashleigh's not in plaster for now anyway, especially in this heat. Fingers crossed the stretches work.
Audrey- Hmm don't tell anyone;) All 3 of my bubs now have preferred to sleep on their bellies.......DS1 would flat-out not sleep at all on his back pretty much from birth.I remember one of the midwives telling me to try him on his tummy (when we get home of course!)I know it's bad with SIDS and all, but IMHO if a bub is going to die from SIDS there's not a whole lot you can do.Sorry to anyone that offends but it is only my opinion.Another reason I mostly put Ellie on her tummy is that she has really good head control (picks her head up and can turn from side to side), she was actually laying on the lounge (on her back) a few weeks ago though and nearly choked on her vomit.Luckily we were close and heard her, scared the crap out of me.
Hmm well I better get going before I get myself into more trouble;) Hope everyone and babies are doing great!
Love
Nara - know what you mean about the vomit. Eden did that with her morning feed today. It was horrible and quite scary as she has never done it before. I lie her on her side, back and tummy!! She usually sleeps on her back, but lies any old way during wake time.
Michelle - really hoping the stretches work for little Ashleigh.
Love,
Nan. xx
Hi everyone
Welcome to Manda and Tahlia and to Nellsy and baby boy (whats his name Nellsy?) Hope to get to know you both really well :)
Nara - you definantly win the "fast labour" comp. for November but poor Nellsy had to do hers with a 9 pounder !! Ouch !! I thought my 2.2 hour labour with an 8pounder was bad enough
Nara and Audrey - Good on you for doing what your bubs needs for sleep (on tummy) i do take sids precautions and thankfully E is happy on his back, Nara i agree with you that if its going to happen then it will.
Nan and Nara - E is a real "puker" and we often find him gagging on his own vomit...charming... scary though, luckily he usually has his head to one side and it comes out ok
Michele - good luck with the stretches and the Physio for little Ashleigh, hope you have success
Nellsy - my first son was 4 weeks early and 6lb 7oz and my second son was on time (basically - 5 days early) and weighed 8lb 2oz.. it was such a shock to have this big boofer after my first wee little man !! Big Chubby babies are so nice though !!
Audrey - Samuel is a bit rough at times too with E, all in love though, but you have to watch them all the time dont you? Glad to hear he is coping with the change, Samuel is too. How are other going with siblings??
Cathyn - Cant wait to hear how Elysha goes on the 11th, let us know. Is she still trying to catch her feet? (with your help LOL )
Mummy2Amelia - hope Amelia went ok with her needles yesterday.
Hope i didnt miss anyone....???
Not so "Little" E is doing so well, feeding great and settling well. We have started getting lots of smiles and coo's now which is so lovely. His 6 week check up is next week, cant wait to see how much more weight he has put on, i am sure its STACKS !!
Anyway hugs to all

Hi,
Welcome to Mandi and Tahlia. I know all about the gagging on her vomit. The other day it caught her breath, I had to quickly pick her up and try and get her breath back it was so scary.
Regarding being rough, I have to watch my 3 year old with her. He loves to kiss her and try and put her dummy back into her mouth and sometimes he can be a bit rough with her.

My baby girl turned 2 months old yesterday! She had her immunisations on the 6th and she done very well. Better then me! lol. We only gave her one lot of baby panadol about 6 hours later because she got a little upset and just wanted to cuddle with mummy.
We also got her weighed and measured etc..her stats for 2 months are: Weight: 5.02kg (birth weight 3.58kg) Length: 56cm (birth length 52cm) Head circ: 39cm (birth head circ 35cm)
She is supposed to be having 180ml as of yesterday but she can barely get through 120ml at the best of times. If she has not had a drink in a while (like in the early morning when she wakes around 4am) she will have a big feed and devour most of the 120ml. I'm not sure if I should be worried about this as my doctor said she is growing finely. I didn't bring up Amelia's eating habbits though. I am going to start recording how much Amelia has over one week and how often etc..I will let you all know how I go with that.
How's everyone and their bubs doing? We are getting a bit cooler weather here in QLD lately, let's see how long it lasts!

Hmm I forgot to add a question in my last message...
I was just wondering if we are able to upload photos onto threads? if so, how do we do this?
Welcome Nellsy and Manda85 congrats on the births of your bubs.
Mummy2Amelia - Unfortuanately only pictures allowed are avatars.
Tracey, Elysha's nearly got it with the feet lol she likes to lie on her rug with me or my BF beside her copying what we do with our feet and bodies lol
Audrey, Elysha also gets real hot in her car seat i gather being black it absorbs the heat a bit:( I havent noticed a heat rash on her as yet but we're in for some hot weather the next few days here.
I noticed the other day she's really started investigating her hands she was lying there feeling her fingers with a serious expression on her face as she felt and looked at them lol. She invented a giggle where she grins and wiggles her whole body lol shes starting to make some noises now when she does it. She's starting to play with her rattle also and is getting the hang of holidng it she even reached for it yesterday and opened her hand so i could put it in it though she has a habit of bumping her head with it sometimes
I'm finding she's really determined also and starts getting frustrated when she cant do something (all my friends keep telling her to slow down and enjoy being a baby lol) . She even managed to crawl/drag (I think someone in another post called it commando crawling) a foot yesterday with a little help (pushing off hand with her feet) as shes getting the hang of how to move her arms now - before shed move her knees but not the arms :p
Hope everyone and their bubs are well:)

Hi Everyone
I was meant to come and join this thread when it started but never got around to it.
My little man was born at 37 weeks on the 23/11/05 weighing 1.9kg and 43cm.
He is now 6 weeks old and weighs 3.3kg and 50cm.
My DD is almost 3 and loves playing with her brother. She tries to pick him up all the time so we just have to watch her but other than that she is being a great big sister.
When I took DS for his 6 week check up, they said his head is a bit out of shape because he is always looking to one side. They have told me to turn his head to the other side and if after a couple of weeks his head is still mis-shapen to take him to the physio.
He also still has a bit of jaundice. We went back to the hospital for a 4 week check up and they did a blood test but they said it was just breastmilk jaundice. Does anyone else have this?
DS isn't smiling yet either. Because he was born 3 weeks early, they have said to wait at least another 3 weeks. Are your little ones smiling yet?
Apart from that we are doing well except I want to change how I settle DS. He likes to be held but I dont want to get him into that routine. We did that with my DD and ending up having to hold her and rock her to sleep for the next 2 years. I've been told when DS clenches his fist, that is the first sign that he is tired, so to wrap him and put him in the cot to sleep. How do others put there little ones to sleep? Do you wrap and put them in the cot? Or do you hold and rock?
Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Oh wow he was tiny even for 3 weeks early..to me anyway!
my lil girl started smiling at about 5 weeks but she was born right on her due date, not sure if that has anything to do with it. I wouldn't worry too much though:)

Usually Amelia falls asleep in her bouncer at night and when we are ready for bed we take her upstairs with us, i put her in her sleeper, wrap her up and tuck her into her bassinet, with all the moving around she is half awake, sometimes fully awake when i put her in and she generally will nod off by herself.

My placenta wasnt working properly so thats why I had a tiny baby.
About 3 hours ago DS started showing tired signs so I wrapped him and put him in the cot and he was asleep when I went to check on him 5 minutes later. I dont know if it was a fluke or not, will try again when he is tired again, hopefully he will always fall asleep this way.

Hi and welcome MLN
To get Elysha to sleep usually its feeding her and letting her fall asleep while feeding (she usually resists sleeping and catnaps during the day) - the last few days shes played herself to sleep while playing on her rug with us and her toys and shes slept in 4 hour blocks - she hasnt been wrapped really since she came home from hospital as shes always liked to use her arms - she kicks the blankets off usually before she sleeps now as well - though sometimes she ends up sidewards in her cot lol I have had a lot of sleepless nights in the past though sometimes she amazes me and will sleep 5-6 hours in a go:)
thanks for the warm welcomes everyone!
update on miss tahlia she had her 8week check up last week she is now 8lbs12oz(her birth weight 5lb12oz length 49.5cm)and 56cms witch im kinda happy with i thought she would of put on a bit more weight now but the docter wasnt too worried so i guess i shouldnt be:confused:
she also had her neddles an she only cried for a bit i was so proud of her:)
hope you and your bubs are doing well

Hi everyone,
Welcome MLN, and congratulations on your baby boy. Ashleigh has the same problem with her neck and she is having physio on it. I have been told that she has a flat head and she might need a helmet to rectify it if it gets any worse, so we are trying to get neck moving so her head will go back into shape.
Ashleigh has been smiling since she was five weeks old. She is now making cooing noises and she is also interested in her hands. When we put our fingers in her hands she has the strongest grip, and she tries and puts our finger into mouth. She is now dribbling a lot, so I am wondering if she will get a tooth early.
Regarding sleeping, I usually feed her at night and take her to our room, where I change her nappy, wrap her and put her down with her dummy, usually after that I don't hear a peep until she wakes for her next feed or she has wind.

Hi MLN and welcome, Congrats on the birth of your baby boy :)
My first DS Samuel was born at 36 weeks and what they say about the delayed time for development is right...
In the early days Samuel was at least 5 weeks behind in most things, they say by 2 they catch up and he seems to almost have completely caught up, he is 2 in March.
I wouldnt worry about it though, after a while we hardly noticed anymore

Hello MLN and welcome! Wow your little man is really packing on the weight, sounds like your doing a great job! When it comes to settling Ellie, it really depends on what mood she's in, sometimes when she's overtired I rock her to sleep (ha ha or I just want cuddles!) or she'll fall asleep playing.
Tracey-Good point on the difference in weights! Hadn't thought of that OOOWWWW!! Although I was thinking the other day that Dylan (DS2) was my biggest bub, yet was the easiest labour, weird huh!
Manda85- Wow Tahlia is really stacking it on too!
Well I took Ellie today for her needles:( Poor bubs had to have 3. Ha ha although she only cried for about 2 minutes, my legs buckled when I stood up so the nurses were more worried about me!Hmmm sookie mum!I usually send DH to do the needles, but he had to work so I plucked up the courage to take her;) Anyway I ended up weighing her while i was there and she is now 9lb 5 and a half!!! (Birth weight 5lb13 and a half) I didnt measure her though as they weren't running that part of clinic yet so I will have to wait......
I'd better get going......ha ha typing with one hand so I can cuddle Ellie! So it's taken me ages!
Lots of love to all

hi all, we had our first little boy on 17.11.05 and I have just found this site! What a great place! I have really enjoyed reading all of your entries and keep saying to my husby 'oh that happend to these people too"! It has been reassuring.
Elliot was born 7 pound 9oz, 51 cm by emergency caesar (nice...not). He is amazing, he simply takes our breath away and melts our hearts. I love it when i am putting him to sleep after his middle of the night feed and he smiles in his sleep - just adorable. I could cry on the spot.
He is doing really well, nearly 11 pound now and 56cm. He still fits into oooo but the length is getting bit skimpy. ooo's fir better now, apart from bonds, i find them smaller. Pumpkin patch are much more generous in their sizes.
We had an amazing xmas (apart from the in laws... ) - wasn't it the best gift you have ever received. Elliot's room now looks like an aisle at Toys r us after being spoilt rotten.
He is also still a little jaundice - they are associating it with breastfeeding but we have an app with a paed this fri just to be sure. We had to take him for 2 blood tests which was simply horrific - i sat in the waiting room and cried. Strong daddy!
Is any one else finding they have suddenly hit a stage where their little one doesn;t want to sleep in the day? E will fall asleep very easily but will not stay asleep for very long, unless we are out and about and he is in the pram, car or front pack. Luckily, he is sleeping very well at night most of the time. Any suggestions.
we are also having difficulty with the settling processes, i find it hard to hear him cry when when put him down on his own so we pat him to sleep most of the time, but likewise i am worried htis will cause probs further down the track.
well, its been great hearing all your stories

Hi Kate, congratulations on the arrival of Elliot! YAY another Nov. bub:) You will have to tell us all about his arrival! Ha ha hmm I think I may be getting clucky again:eek:
Just from my experience(and please ignore me if you like!) but babies are so small for such a short time, so if he needs to be cuddled to sleep, cuddle him. With DS1 I followed everyone's advice on settling him ie: letting him whinge/cry himself to sleep, darkening his room during the day, basically everyone's theories! But when it comes down to it, you know what your baby needs at the time whether it's a cuddle, lullaby or pats on the bum, a bit of a top-up feed, whatever really. As I said please ignore me if you like, but it feels like yesterday I was worrying about problems down the future with DS1 and sleeping/"rods for my back", and in 13 days he starts Grade 1 and will be gone from 8:45am til 3pm, 5 days a week:( OMG ha ha I am turning into a sooky mum! Damn, I bet I'm going to be one of those mum's wiping the tears...................AARGH! LOL, more than likely if you read my previous post:rolleyes:
Anyway sorry went off on a ramble!Good luck with it, and congrats again and hope to hear more from you very soon!
Hi
Hi and welcome Kate. Elliot was born on the same day as my DD, her name is Sienna :)
I agree with what nara said about settling bub to sleep, do what works for bub at the time.
I used to rock DS to sleep and for the first few months I worried that I would still be doing it when he was 5, but by the time he was about 6mths old he didn't want to be held to go to sleep at all, and would fall asleep by himself every time.
DS had a dummy and some other bad sleep habits, we finally broke them all a few mths ago...when he was 2.5yrs old :o but I wont go into those.
I rock Sienna to sleep most of the time, sometimes she doesn't want me to coz it is sooo hot. I hope she outgrows needing this like DS did, but not too soon.
Thru the day Sienna doesn't sleep in her bassinet very much, she seems to sleep better in her rocker in the lounge room where there is a bit of noise.
Sienna is getting her first lot of needles on thursday  I must be strange coz the thought of her having them doesn't really worry me...I know it'll hurt her and she'll probably scream the place down for a few mins, but I just can't see the point in getting all stressed over it......maybe I'm just a mean mummy :D
Welcome Kate and Elliot
Elysha hasnt really slept much during the day (apart from yesterday) for a few weeks. The last few nights shes settled to sleep a lot better than usual, usually she is fed to sleep, but sometimes plays herself to sleep or sometimes if wakes when put in will go to sleep herself (she will sometimes play with her frog before sleeps you can hear the little bell jingling when its hit - maybe not good for sleep lol). During the day she prefers to sleep in her rocker also than in her cot though once awake usually prefers to be on the floor on a mat stretching or kicking about
Nara it would be hard seeing your son going to school - Im sure he'll settle in well:) Great the Ellies going well and that the needles went ok - Elyshas up for hers next Wed. I think ill be upset when she gets upset though hopefully will take them well like birth injections (only a small wimper) in a way i know it has to be done hopefully shell be like me and not mind having injections too much.
EJ had her 8 week check up today and went really well - on her tummy she even was holding her head up and leaning on her hands not forearms which the CHN said they dont usually put weight on hands like that at 8 weeks. She gained weight well also up 890g in 4 weeks shes now 10lb2 (4.6kg) and 55.8cm and she reckoned that EJ will be walking early also
Shes started playing with a rattle now and will reach out for it and has managed to shake it also and still loves hitting frog - I had to take one of her toys out of her cot though other day and when she went to bed was looking at the spot with a sad face - i felt really mean then:(
Anyway hope everyone and their bubs are well:)

Great point cwsmum, Ellie is exactly the same.If I try to put her in the bassinette during the day she'll only catnap, but if she's in her rocker or on lounge with TV blaring she'll sleep for hours.
Cathy- Elysha's going great too!I don't know how you handle injections so well! I hate them, I think that's why I was weird yesterday!LOL and it's not that I'm worried about him settling in (he was very popular in pre-school) it's more me missing him!DH keeps telling everyone that we'll have to buy a house with 30 bedrooms because he reckons I will never let the kids move out of home!
Anyway, I better get going have to go shopping for Kurt's b'day pressie and Cody's school uniforms! YIPPEE for me hey!
Hi all and welcome Kate and baby Elliot !! :)
Glad to hear everyone is going so well!!
Ethan goes to sleep really well in his cradle during the day no problems at all providing i catch his tired signs at the right time :o
My MCHN reminded me that his routine should go sleep, feed, play... first signs of tired back to sleep... i am sticking to that now and i very rarely have to settle him to sleep he will do it himself, which is great as i am often busy with Samuel... but i dont think there is anything wrong with cuddling or patting to sleep, whatever they need is ok with me :)
I am a bit like Cwsmum with the needles, they dont worry me so much, its not nice but with Samuel being sick at birth and having tubes galore and drips and blood taken all the time etc etc.. i guess you just get a bit used to it... or maybe i am a mean mum too ;)

thank you to everyone for being so welcoming and sharing your thoughts and advice - it is great after a really 'bad' day. We really prefer to rock, pat or feed to sleep but are so bogged down with all the conflicting advice and friends and others who tell you what prob's you'll have and i am so sick of hearing the old 'rod for your own back' line....
I think that E really dislikes the heat and just seems to want to be fed so often on days like today. Then i start to get all panicky and worried and think that my supply is low and i'll have to start bottles... I really hate the bad days! Am feeling so much better now after reading your messages.
Will definately be trying the rocker tomorrow! E only had a short sleep for an hour this morning then was awake from 11.30 till 3.30. He was mostly content, happy to play and just wanting to be fed more often. But i just worry that this lack of sleep is not good for him and his development - apart from it being sheer exhaustion and the house looking like a bomb! At stages of days like today i feel like a bit of a failure and that i'm doing the wrong thing? Am feeling ok now though, little one has been down for almost 5 hours.
Thank you for sharing all of your stories and thoughts - it is very helpful as a new mum. Hope the shopping went well Nara. Well done on the great milestones Cathyn and EJ. CWSMUM, good luck for the needles with Sienna, we will be doing the same thing!
Hi everyone.
Very nice to meet you Kate! Don't worry - we all have those bad days. It's just nice to come on here for a bit of reassurance!! Elliot is a lucky little man to have you. :)
Tracey, we do that routine with Eden, too, with waketime after sleep. It works well for us. Something about them not being dependent on food to go to sleep??
Anyway, Eden is doing well. 8.5 pounds now!! Doc says she has grown extraordinarily! She was considered small for her age (5th percentile) and now is considered average (50th percentile) after only a few weeks, so I'm really happy. She's also been so healthy, so I can't complain! Needles next week. Dreading those...:(
Cathyn, sounds as though Elysha is doing fabulously. You must be very proud. Eden doesn't grasp things yet, but she does try to! She also hits the toys on her A-frame to make them move and then smiles at them!!! They are funny creatures babies. I love how everything is so new for them.
Anyway, must go. I can here the 'native getting restless'!!
Catch you all soon. Keep well.
Love,
Nan. xx
P.S. Is it normal for kids to get hiccups up to 3 times in a day?? Eden gets them a lot and had them 3 times yesterday. Hmmm...
P.S. Is it normal for kids to get hiccups up to 3 times in a day?? Eden gets them a lot and had them 3 times yesterday. Hmmm...
Sienna gets them alot too. Twice already today  Sienna seems to get them when she drinks her bottle too fast...I wouldn't worry bout them unless they look really painful or don't go away by themselves.
I took Sienna for her 8 week check and her needles today. She was fine with the needles, she was due for a feed anyway so after her needles were done I gave her a bottle and she was fine :)
I also had her weighed and measured...at birth she was 3.6kg & 50cm long...now she is 5.4kg and 60cm long  She seemed to have a growth spurt last week...I don't think she'll be fitting those 0000's anymore, well, not the bonds suits anyway, she has some 0000 size tops that still fit :)

Hi,
Congratulations and Welcome Kate,
Ashleigh is not a good sleeper during the day as she only catnaps. She is now 10 weeks of age and she is still being wrap to make her go to sleep.
I went to the chemist today and had her weighed and she was 5.6 kilos. I haven't been to the clinic as with four other kids and the kids being on holidays there is not enough time in the week to fit all of the appointments.
Went to the doctors today and have to see Ear Nose and Throat specialist next week, I either have a blood clot in my nose or a polyp and I might have to undergo surgery to clean my nose up, I am also on antibiotics.

Hello all, hope everything is going well for everyone. We had a paed appnt today, all went quite well. He is sure the jaundice is breastfeeding jaundice but sent us for another blood test to rule out any liver problems, we get the results on monday so fingers crossed.
We have had two good days so its all happy happy around here at present. Have a great weekend coming up, its DH's 30th next week so I am taking him (and Elli) to stay in town tomorrow night and we are going to Jazz in the Domain with some friends. Then on sunday morning Chris is going to do the Habour Bridge climb for a surprise! Hopefully it won't throw E out too much. He's been sleepy today, i think he really likes the cooler weather and sydney was so much better today.
How is everyone else?
Nice to hear you and Elliot are doing better, Kate. We are fine. Thanks for asking. Don't be surprised if Elliot gets a little fussy after your big day. I find that lots of babies take a bit of TLC to get them back to normal after a day of something different for mum and dad!! HB to your DH! I'm turning 30 this year, too. Aaaaaarrgghh!
Michelle, hope your nose isn't giving you too much trouble. It must be hard not being 100% and looking after kids. I have yet to experience it. *fingers crossed*
cwsmum, thanks for the reassurance. I was sure it wasn't too much of an issue and it does seem to bother me more than it does Eden!!
Have a good day everyone.
Till next time...
Love, Nan. xx
Ok, I'm finally posting under my own name!
Nellsy: we finally got the monitor problem sorted out – after an exasperating afternoon of experimenting with different mattress configurations and fan speeds. I know what you mean about crossed signals, because the base unit and the nursery monitor aren’t connected directly, the signal is susceptible to interference from other devices which may use the same frequency (from what I understand). The hand book that comes with the unit mentions this problem also – don’t really know if there’s a solution but there are two channels to choose from – ‘A’ and ‘B’ - for precisely this reason, just make sure the base station and the nursery unit are both switched to the same channel.
Audrey: Matthew loves some time on his tummy as well, particularly after a feed and burping, and my mother (4 children) and Joey’s (6 children) both slept us on our fronts as infants. Guess the risk of SIDS is the reason this practice has ceased being the norm. I suppose if the only way Matty would settle was on his tummy then we’d let him sleep that way too.
MLN: Matty started smiling at around 4 weeks but most of the time in amongst grimaces made during bowel movements :o so we didn’t really know if he was grinning at us or not! Now, he seems to smile AT us or something funny (toys etc.) which is the most fantastic thing I’ve ever seen! :D He’s smiling more often now too, particularly after a good sleep and has a laugh very occasionally - most often in his sleep, which is really weird!
Nothing else new to report from home really, Matty is due to have his shots next week I believe. Any advice on what to expect?
Paediatrician told us he is looking fine ect. weight at 7.5 weeks is now 11 pound 6, up from 7 pound 7 at birth.
Sleeping from about 2030 ‘til 0300, then 0330 ‘til 0700 which is fantastic....hope it lasts for a little while at least!
Hope you’re all well.
Andre.
Tracey thats sorta of EJs routine at present also the sleep feed play - though hers is more sleep feed play feed sleep feed with the sleeps in the day being catnaps lol
Kate Hope you had a good time for your DH's 30th:)
Nan EJ gets hiccups usually after most feeds it helps her to burp i find - she also hiccuped a lot inside.
Michelle hope all goes ok with your nose - not good problems..
Nara, Im now starting to get more worried about the shots and how she'll take them - 2 days to go ARGH I was thinking also Ellie and Elysha were exactly 2 months old yesterday time flies:)
Elysha has also started now to try and taste things shes holding - shes tried with the rattle a few time and usually misses her mouth which means she hits her head a bit
Hope everyone and their babies are well :)
PS Elliot is another November 'E' baby i notice - how many E's do we have now hope i havent missed any ? Eden, Elliot, Ethan, Ellie, Elysha
PS notice Terri's & a few others have been real quiet hope all is ok with them?

Hi gang,
all pretty well at this end. Nara, you were right about Elliot being unsettled after the big weekend! Oh how guilty i feel now. On top of that, having my period has reduced my supply and he is so hungry all the time and not sleeping thru the day for any lengthy period - more than 1/2 hour. Though, this sleeping pattern has been happening since xmas really. I hope this stage passes soon - for all of us with non-sleepy babies???Though it is reassuring to hear that some of you are having the same difficulty at present! Under mums strict instruction to get some rest and look after myself so my supply can pick back up...
on a good note, the final set of tests saw that Elliot's jaundice keeps getting better and thats all it is, phew.
Our weekend was great and DH had a great time which is the main thing, i have to say that i never really relaxed though. Does everyone else feel like that too when they are out?
Elliot has been in the cot in the nursery since sunday night, which is unsettling for me - i just can;t believe how fast it is all going! I don;t know where the last 2 months have gone!
Well, i hope you guys are all well, its great to read your snippets regularly.]
Hugs, Kate
Kate agree that time goes so fast EJ's 9 weeks old yesterday - Good to hear Elliot's jaundice is getting better:)
Well EJ had her shots today and my BF came and held her (so she didnt blame me)- she screamed for about 5 minutes after until I fed her :( Shes very sorry for herself at present, no fever though luckily and keeps crying with a sad face - I feel so mean putting her through that:( She had some panadol which helped the pain and she even managed to play for a little while on her mat before, though mainly has been sleeping and eating. Its good to see the smiles slowly reappearing...

Hi,
Time is going fast, Ashleigh is now 11 weeks old and growing. I had her weighed last week and she was 5.6 kilos. We are having problems with Ashleigh's reflux, at every feed, she is wheezing and coughing, I now have to put thickener in her feed and she is no better in a few days we have to go and have a milk study done or a barium meal done. He thinks the milk is going down the wrong way. She is also gagging a lot more between feeds and sometimes she is catching her breath.
I went to the ENT specialist on Monday and he put me on Rhinocort and a nasal cream and he said I had an infection inside of my nose. I have to use this spray for a couple of weeks and then I have to go and have a catscan done.
The weather in NSW has been terrible this last week. I know we needed rain but we could have some fine weather in between. It has been so hard to get any clothes dry in this weather, even though I am glad the temperatures have been down from the past few weeks, I think our reprieve will be over shortly we are in for more hot weather here shortly.

Howdy Partners! (say it in a cowboy voice....go on....it's very 'Toy Story',
Well, Eden has to have her needles tomorrow and I'm dreading it. I hope I can sit down as I know I'll be a bit faint! She was going to have them last week, but she wasn't actually 2 months old until Saturday, so we're going tomorrow.
Michelle, I'm sorry to hear about Ashleigh's reflux. Friends of ours have a little girl who was much the same way at Ashleigh's age and with some good drugs and TLC, she is fine now, so I hope Ashleigh will be too. It may take some time.
I hope all is well with the November bubs. Catch ya soon.
Love,
Nan. xx
Hi girls... My second DS was born November 2
I'm new here and am wrapped to meet you all, look forward to getting to know you guys.

Hi everyone,
Its been ages since I've been here as we've been travelling the country to show off the little one to his rellies! He's even had his first flight!
Lovely to hear how everyone is going - its amazing how quickly our bubs are growing!:D Welcome Leni K!:) Lots of new faces.
Ben is also going to have his jabs on Wednesday - we were supposed to have them last week, but the doctor decided the day before that he'd rather play golf ... not happy Jan! Its a bit scary, because all the good docs in my area are not taking patients. I'm not sure what to do - maybe search further afield...
Little Ben seemed to change overnight at about 7 weeks - much more sociable with lots of series of smiles! He's happy to just lay on is play mat and kick about for a while, whereas before, that wouldn't have been a possibility! He also can't bear not to be a part of the action - he loves to be carried upright, and be forward facing in his pram to check out the world (no more bassinet)!
Take care everyone,
Bella xx

Hey all,
everything is going well here. yesterday we had DH's surprise party, a picnic. with it being so hot mum and dad stayed home with E - without him for 4 hours!!!!:(
But he was great! Ate, slept and watched thomas the tank engine with pa! I missed him so much - felt like my arm had been disconnected or something! His unsettled phase seems to be over and has been sleeping a lot better, but is still happy to be awake for quite some time! I totally agree with u Bella, its amazing how quickly the changes happen!
Any other news?
Kate x
Hi everyone !!
Welcome Leni.. our two boys are similar ages although your first DS is a bit older than mine..Samuel is 22 months old.
Nan how did Eden go with her shots...?more to the point how did you go !!?? LOL
oh love the "toy story" howdy on your post..i actually said it that way in my head HEHE :D
Glad to hear others went ok with their shots.. E has his early Feb.
We are getting E weighed and measured this Friday..i am dying to know his stats..when i tell people he is 8 weeks old they eye boggle me...i am getting tired of saying "yes he is a big boy...".."Yes he feeds well.." etc etc..
Bella your Ben sounds so like E !! Its uncanny :p
At 8 weeks now he is so much more social and fun, smiles and laughs and playing on the floor with his big bro.. very sweet!
Michele hope Ashleighs reflux gets better soon.
Time does go fast doesnt it...? too fast... my little baby is already a big baby and my first ever baby boy is nearly 2 !!! ahhhhhhhhh
Heehee - glad to entertain!!
Anyway, Eden's shots went well. She screamed the place down for a few minutes, but it was to be expected. She's like her mum when she's angry!!
I really don't like how they give three shots. They really do have to find a way to get them put together into one. I know...'tell her she's dreamin'!!
By the time she had the last one, she was so over it tha she didn;t sry she just grunted this awful, extremely angry grunt as if to say, 'Can't you hear me? I said STOP!'. Poor little thing.
She's fine now though so that's good. We did what every depressed female does. We went shopping and bought Eden one new outfit for every needle! heehee I can't wait to put her in them.
Well, she is still tiny! 4.3 kilos (clothed) and 54 cms long. Doc is still pleased though, so I'm cool with it. I think she is just alway going to be petite like me.
Well, off I go to feed the princess now.
Love,
Nan. xx

,
Ashleigh is still coughing and wheezing and I am thinking maybe she is suffering from a cold. She has no temperature and she is drinking her bottle but the problem is not knowing why she is wheezing and coughing. I am thinking of ringing her paedaetrician again on friday and finding out why. She seems happier enough and I am just wondering if a baby can get asthma when they are this young. Our family is known to have asthma in the genes.
Regarding the two months shots, I am positive that Ashleigh had only two needles. I am sure that she had one in each leg. Nan do you know why they gave her three shots.
Regarding time going by, They will be all twelve months old before we know it and christmas will be upon us again. Already nearly the end of January and time for the kids to go back to school.

Welcome Leni and good to see you Bella:)
Michele, Elysha had 3 shots also - theres the Hep B, Pnuemococcal and the Diptheria/Tentnus etc injections. Not good about the cough and wheeze - EJ sometimes gets that when my milk lets down to fast for her to swallow Ive found that changing positions helped a little. My BF's family also has asthma in their genes though my BF hasnt got it so Im hoping that she wont be affected by that also.
Time is going so fast EJ was 10 weeks old yesterday double figures now - it hardly seems any time from when she was born.... I agree Bella and Kate that the changes in them are so sudden sometimes - EJ changed a lot about 7 weeks also..
Tracey its great that Ethans going so well hope that hes put on a heap of weight when you get him checked Friday:)
Hope everyone and their bubs are well and keeping cool in the heat a lot of places are currently getting (like us tomorrow 39C ARGH)

Hi everyone,
Ben had his shots yesterday - he had three as well - Diptheria/Tetanus etc, Polio, Hep B and Pneumococcal (two of those must have been in one needle). Michele, I wonder if the requirements vary from state to state? (These are in the Vic schedule). Poor little guy - those chubby little thighs weren't made to have needles put in them! He was fine when we were first home, but miserable later. I ended up giving him some Children's Panadol and it did the world of good, and he had a lovely sleep! Today we are getting double smiles as he catches up! The nurse gave me a jelly bean and it was Ben that got the shots - hehe!:D That will change in a few years!
I have two babies (hubby and Ben) to entertain today as it is pushing 40 degrees and we can't go out! (Isn't the heat awful, Cathyn?)
Tracy, can't wait to hear Ethan's stats! Ben was 5.3kg at his 8 week check - I wonder if Ethan will be similar!:) Nearly time to wave goodbye to 000s!
Michele, I hope your paediatrician can shed some light on Ashleigh's coughing and wheezing. I hope your little girl feels better soon ...
The little man has started fussing - time for a feed!;)
Take care everyone,
Bella xx

Hi guys
I have only just discovered this site and figured that it's nice to talk to people from the same continent (the other site I use is american and sometimes they just don't get it!). I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!
Xander was born 6 November 05 at 8 pounds 14 ounces, at 38 weeks (on the morning of my baby shower would you believe) and is thriving with the cutest chubby little legs.:p I'm loving being a mum so far despite some ups and downs, just can't wait until our house is finished being built so that we can finally move in (we were told it would be done before he arrived so it's just a little late but it's all good, means that we still have that excitement over new things going in etc)
Anyway hope you all have a great Australia day!!
Hi everyone :)
Glad to hear everyone bubs are doing well
Michelle, I know how frustrating it is not knowing why bub is coughing...Sienna had a bit of a cough last weekend, but it seems to be alot better now, just the occasional cough after her bottles. I hope you find out what is causing Ashleighs cough soon.
DS, aged 2yr10mths, is finally completly toilet trained :D He was still wearing nappies at night, but I forgot to go buy more last saturday and we had none at all in the house for him so we sent him to bed without one and we haven't had a wet bed yet. I'm soo happy...it was getting annoying and expensive, expecially with Siennas sensitive little bottom, she gets a rash if we use anything other than Huggies :( I have just gone back to cloth for her as Huggies are waay to expensive to use all the time.
Well, thats my news for now...gonna go have another cool shower...it's just soooo hot and humid here...
Have a great weekend everyone :D
hi all and welcome Andy1982 and little Xander!! Lookforward to chatting to you more :)
Glad to hear those who have had shots have gone well,
Michele, Ethan will have his shots early feb and is scheduled for 3 shots also..? Perhaps it is a state thing? I hope Ashleighs cough is better and you have discovered the cause of it.
CWsmum, glad to hear your Ds is toilet trained !! I cant wait to start Samuel but he is not ready yet and i am not going to push it.. do you have an Aldi store where you are? they sell a brand nappy called Mamia, i reckon they are better than huggies, softer and more absorbent.. perhaps worth a try for Sienna, they are a good price too !!
Bella sounds like Ben is a lovely bonnie boy like Ethan, but it would appear Ethan tips the scales !!
Today he weighed in at a whopping 6265grams !!!!!!! and 62cm long !!!!
What a whopper :p You gotta love 'em round hehehe
He is going so well but is favouring one side a bit so we have to start trying to get him to look the other way and sleep on the other side so it evens out,its not really bad yet so will try to get onto it now before it gets worse, otherwise he is going great guns !!
Hope all are well and coping in the heat :o
hugs
Hi all.
Good to hear from you.
Welcome Andy! Darn those yanks!! Hope you feel at home here!! Your bubba sounds like a cutie!
Yup, the three needles were Diptheria, Tetanus, Whooping Cough & Polio (in one), Pneumoccocal & Hep B/HIB (also in one). Kinda sucks, but at least it's over for another 2 months.
*sending some cooler Adelaide weather vibes East*!!
Gotta go! Off to a wine, pate' & cheese evening at a friends. YUMMY!! (The best thing about not being pregnant anymore!!)
Love,
Nan. xx

Hi,
Welcome Andy and Mel,
Mel, your baby was the same weight and height as Ashleigh at birth. I am not sure what she weighs now as I haven't had her weigh for a few weeks. Have to get weigh this week.
Obviously with the needle issue, In NSW, they must give two lot of shots in the one shot so it is easier on bubs. Ashleigh is now 3 months old so is due her next lot of needles in March.
Ashleigh is getting better cough wise but her reflux is giving her a lot of problems. Have to get on to the paedaetrician on Monday. She actually refused her first bottle this morning. I had to throw the milk down the sink. I am going to try her again shortly. I am wondering why she has refused the bottle, she usually loves her bottle. Have to go now and try and feed her again, hopefully she will drink this time.

Hi all! Welcome Andy 1982 and mel 2878!
Tracy - Ben has the same problem as Ethan - we've had to rotate his change table and cot so he faces a different direction! One side of his head is flatter than the other! (and balder!!) :o We are gradually training him to look the other way!
We were also told to give him lots of tummy time - which he absolutely HATES! Does anyone else's baby scream like mad at tummy time and take ages to settle after? (And definitely no breastfeeding after tummy time - I ended up with bite marks once!) I am trying to think of a way to get the benefits of tummy time without Ben giving me dirty looks!
Take care everyone,
Bella xx
Hi Everyone and Welcome Mel2878 and Andy1982 :)
Tracey - Elysha also prefers to look in one direction - have been trying to put toys etc on the other side so she will use that more, She does use it but not as much as the other. She appears to favor her right hand in use and thats the way she tends to look most often so maybe thats a reason she does it?
Bella, Im lucky that she loves tummy time maybe something in front of him so he can look at it might make him happier? EJ has started to look more at things you place in front of her recently
Looking like Ill have to take her to the doc this week for possible reflux - she had an "attack" in her car seat yesterday and ended up jammed arching back in it with her feet on the seat and her head right back - id been putting her in and the straps were around her arms which made it extremely difficult to get her out. She coughs and then starts to cry alot like its hurting her as well:(
Hope everyone and their bubs are well:)

I don't know if this would be of any use but Xander doesn't like tummy time at all but i've found that if i sling him over my knees he doesn't seem to mind so much, he still gets pleanty of floor time (under vigorus protest) but he still does his little push ups etc when he's on my lap
Hi all
Ethan also dislikes Tummy time but i dont let it worry me too much, seriously Samuel HATED it so much that i very rarely did it and he developed normally so i dont think its too much of a drama if they dont get alot of Tummy time iykwim?
Andys suggestion of over the lap is a good idea E quite likes that, also them on your chest with you lying on your back is quite good, the other thing i do is in the bath i hold E over my arm on his tummy floating him in the water and he really likes that. My last suggestion is to roll a cloth nappy or small towel and put it under their shoulders with their arms over the top of it.. this makes it easier to lift their head and move their arms Ethan doesnt mind it as much this way either..
any tummy time we have though is short lived but thats ok with me :)
hugs to all

Hi everyone, and a big welcome to the new bubhub mums!:)
Oh dear, I haven't been online for awhile so I'll have to catch up!(ha ha or try anyway)
Michele- You are such an angel! Four older kids, poor little Ashleigh with coughs and reflux and you have been sick as well:( Hope your feeling better?? How do you do it??? You truly are a legend!
Andy1982- I agree with you. Ellie doesn't like tummy time either, but if we put her laying on our lap or even our stomach she loves it.
Cathy- Poor Elysha:( That would have been pretty scary in the car???Not good that it seems to be hurting her.
Nan- How did your wine, pate' and cheese evening go?? Sounds like alot of fun!
cwsmum- CONGRATULATIONS on the toilet training!! YYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!Did you have a party for him?:p I'm only asking because we did with the boys! Hmm although I might just be strange! We had party pies and fairy bread!!Ha ha actually now that I'm writing it down, it does sound very odd!!
Anyway we haven't been up to much.......Slowly renovating the house!YAY!! I thought it would be fun deciding on kitchens and bathrooms, but it's actually quite annoying!Oh my gosh, it sounds like I'm whinging but it's really HARD.I know what I like and what I don't like but actually choosing something you have to live with forever is really difficult. Not to mention the fact that DH and I have very different opinions ha ha!
Ellie is laughing and cackling,it's the most beautiful sound in the world! She's getting her own little personality! Most of the time she's brilliant, but whoa when she's cranky the whole neighbourhood knows about it!
Cody has started Grade 1 and Dylan has started pre-school so it's been very quiet here! They absolutely love it!Ha ha even waking me up at 6:30 Sunday morning "hurry up mum, we have to go to school!!" AAARGH!
Hope everyone is going great!Better go!
Love
Nara great that all is going well with the renovating and that Cody and Dylan are enjoying school ELysha's getting her own personality also but hasnt really giggled as yet (apart from the giggle wiggle) though she has got a squeal she does when really happy:) Shes also trying to make people pick her up by crying caught her out at it the other day real upset then the crying stopped for a second while she opened an eye and looked at me then started it again though once picked up she grinned
I took EJ to the doc today to see if it was reflux cause she seemed in pain and was groaning sorta like she needs to do a poo she was also bringing up a bit more than usual and crying also arching a bit which she did while she was at the docs. He said it isnt reflux or any bowel problem and that arching the back does mean pain he couldnt seem to find that she had any problem. He thinks maybe shes got a bit of a bowel irritation she does still have a lot of gas though :(
Anyway hope everyone is well - We have our 1st new mothers metting at the health center tomorrow so that will be good - will get her weighed again also:)

Hi everyone,
Thanks so much for your tummy time suggestions - I am feeling very excited!:D There is hope!
Good to hear from you again, Nara - its lovely to hear the boys are enjoying school.:p
I hope your little girl is feeling a little better, Cathyn - its so scary when bubs are obviously in pain. It might be a long shot - but I wonder if it is something you are eating that is going through your breastmilk (if you are b/f)? Some experts swear black and blue that what you eat doesn't affect the baby, but Ben gets very crabby and windy if I eat chocolate (not a good choice little guy, but its helping me lose my post-baby pot belly!!!!). Have fun at Mothers group - can you believe ours doesn't start until March!!
Bella xx
Andy1982
31-01-2006, 13:52
I may be a little uninformed here but what's all this about a mothers group? I've never heard of anything like that.. Is it only run in certain suburbs or something?
Andy, after you've had a baby you can put your name down with your local Child and Youth Health to join a group (usually no bigger than 10) of women who have had babies at similar times to you & who live in the same area as you. They are a really good form of support and friendship for mums & bubs!
Nara - good to here from you!! Glad the boys are enjoying school & preschool. The wine & cheese night was great. Eden was very well behaved and we had fun...even had some Lindt chocolate fonue and fruit to cap off the night. Soooo yummy! I'm sure I put on 2 kilos then and there! :( I really like the party idea, too. I might steal it at a later date!
So funny how no one's bubs seem to like tummy time! Eden used to hate it, but I kept doing it every few days. She doesn't exactly like it yet, but we're down to a feww grunts of dislike rather than major screams. A small victory for me!!
Cathyn - it's funny how they can try and trick you at such a young age isn't it? Eden has done that whole crying thing, so you pick her up and she stops, you put her down and she starts!! I don't fall for it anymore!! (I used to though!) Also, try taking some chelated potassium when Elysha has bad bowels. Eden was having such bad wind all the time and not burping much, but since taking this (on my mother's 1970s advice! lol) she burps well and isn't troubled anymore. Apparently it helps with peristalsis (the movement of the bowels & esophagus). It also helps when you're constipated.
Nice catching up on the goss from you fun-lovin gals,
Love,
Nan. xx
Hi everyone :)
Well we had the 1st mothers group today it runs for 4 weeks - theres a lady there with twins also - the size of that pram I wouldnt like to push it around a shopping centre  It was pretty good very informative time - Weighed EJ while there and she was 5.475kg clothed (12lb 1) the CHN said she'd be about 5.375 naked (a nappy=45g for anyones interest LOL)and a rough estimate of her length on Sat was 58cm-59cm She was the oldest baby there by a couple of weeks i think.
Anyway hope everyone and bubs are well:)
Also, try taking some chelated potassium
Nan i am interested in this.. do you mean ME to take it, or bubs to take it? sorry if that seems a dumb question... :o
Cathyn sounds as though Elysha is doing great guns, good weight gain ! Well done :)

hey my little man was born on the same day...
Hi all November mums !!
Hope we can keep in touch as hearing how you and your babies are going is always great :)
hugs to you all
Welcome Goldcoastgirl (cute pic of bubs btw)- We're getting lots of November mums in this thread now:)
Nan forgot to add in my post before Im interested in that potassium treatment also sorta sounds heaps like what EJ has like so anything to help would be good :)
Oh, yeah! Oops! Sorry - the mother is supposed to take it, not the baby. As I understand it, you can't get it in baby friendly form anyway. I just buy the Nature's Own brand at the local Chemist. On the label it has 495 mgs under the name. I just have one tablet a day. Supposed to balance the acid/alkaline conditions in the body which helps the muscle movement etc like a chain reaction!! Hope it works for ya girls.
Love,
Nan. xx
P.S. Also good for colic, as it relaxes muscles...
Thanks Nan !! I will give it a try :)
Welcome goldcoastgirl18 !! Good day to have a bubs ;)
Your little man looks so cute and nice and round like my E !!
Whats his name?
Ethan had his shots today.. NOT a happy bubba :( He is ok now after some panadol but its so amazing Samuel took it so well as a bubs but E was a real wuss LOL Goes to show they are all different !!
Hope all are well
By the way Nan ilove your avatar, a lovely family pic :)

Hi,
Welcome Goldcoastgirl18 and congratulations.
Ashleigh is still refluxing badly so I am going to the paedaetrician on Monday with my oldest son so I am going to tell him then. Because of the reflux and she is also dribbling lots, She has a rash and is very red under her neck where she has a roll of fat. I am putting on zinc and caster oil cream to see if that will help.
I had her weighed on Wednesday and she weighed 6.3 kilos, according to the blue book she is above average in weight gain. So I know the reflux is not affecting her weight.
Kids are back at school now. Melissa who started school this Tuesday is still having teething problems with getting upset every day but hopefully after a few weeks she will be over her missing mum problem. I am also very proud of her, She received a merit award for outstanding achievements in all areas. In this her first week at school she has received two awards, the other was for excellent reading.
I am feeling better now, even though I have to go and have a catscan on Wednesday on my sinuses.

Hi Gang,
Michele, sorry to hear about Ashleigh. Elliot's reflux has been quite bad this week but he doesn't seem too bothered about it which is the main thing - just vomits all over the place but only has one screaming attack every day or so. I'm glad it isn't hurting him too much, but worry about how much weight he is putting (or not putting) on... I hope the paed can give you some ideas or treatment for Ash.
Tracey sorry to hear about Paul's work - that is a big bummer, especially with two little ones. I hope it all works out for you all, thinking of you.
Everything is quite good here, Chris is back at work which is good and bad. We are into a bit of a routine and the house is far more organised and all that jazz. Chris really misses not being here with E.
I met my mothers group on wed and that was really good. Not really having any 'mother' friends makes things hard and as the weeks go by, more and more 'without child' friends seem to drop off the radar... I'm sure you know what it is like.
As I was saying, E's reflux is quite bad and he is still not sleeping very much during the day - especially in the morning. That seems to be his unsettled time. i also think i am having issues with my milk supply, i just dont seem to be satisfying him. Not sure what to do?
He is growing more and more gorgeous every day and does somehting new all the time. I am so in love with him.
Well, better spend some time with my man. I hope you guys are all well and your bootiful bubs too.
Love Kate
Tracey sorry to hear about Paul's work - that is a big bummer, especially with two little ones. I hope it all works out for you all, thinking of you.
E is growing more and more gorgeous every day and does somehting new all the time. I am so in love with him.
Thanks Kate i appreciate your thoughts :)
Isnt it amazing how much you love your kids!!?? Its so hard to explain to someone without kids what its like, but your heart aches with love .. Also When i was preggas with Samuel i often wondered how i would find enough love for both of them but you just do... its a wonderful thing :p
I hope E's reflux settles soon Kate and Michele i hope you are all well.
How is everyone else?
Very well, thanks!
I would love to chat, but need to feed Eden ASAP!! Plus have a lot of errands to run today.
Just stopped by to read up on how everyone is doing.
We are all well.
Chat more soon.
Love,

How is everyone??We're going great guns!DH had his vasectomy today:( So he's laying in bed with ice-packs and the baby monitor LOL."Nara, I think my ice-pack needs changing, Nara can you get me a drink" Poor boy;)
Ellie is 12 weeks tomorrow AAARGH, where has the time gone??I weighed her today and she was 5kilo's neat.So she's growing well, haha and sleeping well! For the last 2 weeks she has slept from 8:30pm til 7am.At first I tried waking her for a bottle at midnight but that's a big "not gunna happen!"AAH lovely!
Tracey- I must have missed something obviously about Paul's work??Hope everything's ok.
Michelle- I hope Melissa settles in soon, you must be a proud mum with those awards:) I was just thinking how easily the boys have been going to school, but this morning we had tantrums!I think it's very tiring on them. Also I hope Ashleigh's rash gets better soon, it can't be easy in this heat.
Nan-Glad to hear you are doing well!
KateP- They really do get more gorgeous every day! It's also great seeing them do new things!
We haven't really been up to much, although I've started at the gym doing "body combat","body balance" and "body pump" classes.OOOH I'm still sore!

Hi,
Nara, hoping DH is not in to much pain, he probably won't feel like it for a few days.
I talked to the paedaetrician about Ashleigh's reflux and he has told me to up her zantac from 1ml to 1.3mls, he seems to think that 1ml is not enough now that she has put on extra weight.
Ashleigh went to the physio today, the physio is happy with the way her neck is going but she is not so happy with the ankle. She says that her ankle is to tight and to keep doing the stretches which we have and if there is no improvement within a fortnight she will have to go back into plaster. With Ashleigh's rash some days it is redder than others, she is dribbling and refluxing a lot so with all that moisture going on her neck it is hard for it not to be red.
Today, was the first day that Melissa did not cry, so we may be turning the corner with liking school with a bit of luck.

Hi eveyone
Nara hope he's recovering quickly - theres nothing really worse than a man in pain  I wish EJ would sleep those times - at the best she's done 6 hours (once) usually its 4
Michelle not good about Ashley's ankle hope she doesnt have to go back into plaster..
EJ's 12 weeks today - gee time flies - Happy 12wk to Ellie also Nara :)
I had another mothers group today which was again really informative and weighed EJ - i also asked the CHN to measure her which was good also. Shes now 5.685kg, 12lb 8 which is a 310g gain in a week based on the estimated weight of last week since she was dressed. Shes now 59.5cm also which is 3.7cm longer than she was at 8 weeks - thats nearly a cm a week  I got EJ a Bumbo seat for when her necks a little stronger - she really likes it LOL I even got a smile while she looked around in amazement.
Anyway hope all and their bubs are well :)
Cat and the Kitten
Howdy guys!
So good to read up on everyone & their bubs! I just love it. :p
Cathyn - what is a Bumbo seat? I've never heard of one. :o
Nara - good to hear from you. Hope DH feels better soon.
HAPPY 12 WEEK BIRTHDAYS to the little ladies!! :D
I weighed Eden this morning and she has almost cracked the 10 lb mark. (Just over, but she had clothes on!) She is such a people person! I can't get her interested in any toys except the ones she can just stare at! She plays for a while but as soon as someone comes over and interacts with her - stuff the toys!!
At this stage I am predicting she will talk before she can walk. Physical activity just doesn't interest her as much as a good "conversation"! Anyone else's bub the same??
Love,
Nan. xx
Hello all
Nara - your poor hubby !! I hope he is feeling better, just to fill you in my DH lost his job last friday... :( he then got an interview with a company on Monday and started his new job today !! so all in all the redundancy package plus only being unemployed for two days actually worked out pretty well !! LOL
Nan - Funnily enough my E is a real social butterfly and much more chatty than Samuel ever was!! Samuel still hardly says anything ! he is far too busy doing "stuff" hehe :p I think E will be my chatterbox. Sounds like Eden is going great guns !! yay !!
Cathyn - let me know how Ej goes in her bumbo seat. More great weight gain for her too, what a little trooper she is :) Glad your mums group is going well.
Michele - hope all is going well for you guys, i really hope Ashleigh doesnt have to go back into the plaster, Also great to hear Melissa is happier about the "school" thing
E is doing really well, he is still MASSIVE lol !! i am dying to weigh him again.
He is sleeping much better at night and the last few nights has gone from 8pm till 5am !! yay !! He is DESPERATE to suck his thumb but cant co-ordinate himself enough, i hope he gets the hang of it soon .. any other thumb suckers?
Anyway hugs to all, i really enjoy hearing about you all and your bubbas :p

My name is Renee, I have a 20 month old daughter, Shyler and a new baby girl, Natiesha Vada who arrived 2 weeks early on 22nd November, 2005.
Shyler is adjusting really well to the new role of being a big sister.
Welcome Renee, nice names your children have :)
Nan, a bumbo seat are these sorta moulded seats that can be used to sit a baby in from 3 months to 14 months once they have good neck control - I have to sorta have a hand at the ready with Elysha at present when shes in it.. www.bumbo.com.au is the site on them.
Tracey, EJs a thumb sucker also - she still wont take a dummy though, your right about the co-ordination LOL ej keeps her fingers open when does it so ends up poking herself in the eyes half the time
I just took EJ out on the grass for a while is lucky she was on a blanket Ive got a horrible grass rash from the recently mowed lawn :( luckily is going down now.
Anyway hope everyone is well:)
Tracey, EJs a thumb sucker also - she still wont take a dummy though, your right about the co-ordination LOL ej keeps her fingers open when does it so ends up poking herself in the eyes half the time
LOL Cathy !! This is exactly what E does !! :p hehe
Welcome Renee, i have two sons, Samuel is 22 months old and Ethan was born 25th November, so we know very well what each others days are like !! :o
I look forward to chatting to you more
Nan in regards to activity/talking EJs problay more active than vocal i think she loves her toys that move to songs and will "dance" with them and plays with rattles etc she will talk to the toys also. She is getting more vocal recently with us andwill try and say words said to her - hello being ah oh and good girl being goo guh lol
Shes on the move today  lol shes just manovered herself across her play mat on her back to get hold of a cushion that was left near it while i was out of the room for a few mins Shes hanging on to the fringe on it and kicking her legs LOL (am watching to make sure she doesnt get too close to it cause she'll try and taste it lol)
Wow, Cathyn, you should get EJs IQ checked out. To be doing that with your words is very advanced. Well done, EJ!!:D Thanks for the link. I have never seen one of those seats before! They look great. Keep us posted with how she is going with it.
With the thumb sucking thing, Eden sucks more on her fist! lol It's so loud though. I put her down to sleep at the back of the house and I can sometimes hear her sucking away in my room at the front of the house (without a baby monitor!!).
Hi Renee. Your little girl was born the day after mine. Two days after my birthday, too! Welcome, welcome.
Tracey, I'm so pleased hear Paul has a new job. YAY!! And so quickly, too.
Righto, gotta go! Hearing strange noises IYKWIM!!

Hi everyone,
Love hearing all the details of your babes - fascinating! Ben's a 'thumb sucker' too - (read: both hands in mouth at once in attempt to suck thumb!) and very loud too, like Eden, Nan! I could never take him to Cry Baby sessions at the cinemas because everyone would be distracted by the noises!! :D
Cathyn, I once thought Ben said 'ah oh' when I say hello to him like Elysha - but I'm not sure if I'm imagining it! :o Those days home alone get very long!!! Elysha sounds very bright & active! Ben will only move if he is enraged and digs his heels in and shuffles up!!
Welcome Renee - your little girl was born two days before DS. How fantastic big sis is coping well!
Congratulations on your hubby's job, Tracy! What a relief!
Nara, I hope your hubby is back in action! :p
Best wishes everyone,
Bella xx
PS: Have now mastered typing with Ben sitting between my arms, so now I can write and read when on Bub Hub!!:D
Nan - not sure on how you'd check a babies IQ? LOL
Bella - Id probably worry i was imagining the words but my BF has heard them as well LOL Ben could be saying it, its a little bit of a shock the first time do it:) Actually she's been pretty good with copying words even when a few weeks old lol i spose we use the words so often thats shes trying to say them. My Bf's trying to get her to say Daddy next lol
Just went and weighed her again just before and shes now 5.885kg (13lb nearly was 12lb 15.6oz). Shes growing so fast shes nearly out of a lot of her 000 things now  Lucky that Target baby sale is on this week  Put a mirror on the bar on her rocker yesterday and she's now facinated with looking at herself and talks to her reflection lol
My BF gave her a flower for Valentine's yesterday had to take a pic it was so cute

Hi,
Ashleigh is also trying to move off her gym play mat she is pushing with her two legs and seems to move a couple of inches forward. She also wants to try and sit up.
Ashleigh has to go back to the physio this coming Wednesday and I am thinking that she will have to go back into plaster as her ankle ligaments are still to tight and it is still turned inwards. Her neck seems better thank goodness something is going good. Her reflux is still a problem and we have an appointment to see the paedaetrician on the 7th March, hopefully I can get some answers.
With my other kids, they are fine and Melissa is enjoying school a lot more now and has already been invited to three boys parties so far and she has only been at school for two weeks.
Michele

Woooooo - 3 boys hey?? ;) lol Just kidding! That's great news!!
Cathyn - actually, I'm not sure how you'd test a baby's IQ either!! I know they can test their intelligence somehow though.
Hmmm....I posted this in the health & Beaty section, but so far I've had no response. Maybe you guys can help me.
A few nights I've been having period like cramps, but haven't had a period yet. Does anyone know why?? Sorry if TMI.
Love,
Nan. xx
A few nights I've been having period like cramps, but haven't had a period yet. Does anyone know why?? Sorry if TMI.
LOL Nan you think that might be TMI?? hehe hardly !! well i am very open minded anyway
I am not sure why you would be having these cramps... are they just occasionally like as if a period is due..? perhaps its your body getting into gear for a period?
It could also be your body just "re-adjusting" to not being pregnant iykwim? Perhaps your uterus still had some shrinking to do and thats been happening... have you done any strenuous (sp?) exercise ?
Could you be pregnant again? ??
Did you suffer from Endometriosis or anything like that ?
You could even have a mild UTI i guess?
Perhaps you need to check with your GP just incase... wouldnt hurt....
hope you feel better soon or get an answer anyway !!
hugs to all xxxx

Hi gang, good to hear some great updates! Nan, hope you are ok and whatever the pain is it goes away! Have u had ur first period yet
? i could feel mine coming for a bout a wekk b4 hand, i have endo though...
Elliot is doing wonderfully - we had to put him on the bottle 1.5 weeks ago as my milk ran out and he stopped putting on weight... Boy did he make up for it! Last week he put on 700grams!!! That sure helped with the guilt factor, it is wonderful to see him blooming - he is so happy and settled and has been sleeping thru just about every night for about a week now!:D
He is loving to play and has started to take an interest in 'toys' and anything u can grab and put in mouth! I love to watch him laugh and smile and he just loves being in the bath - he goes nuts!
Ahh, i fall more in love evryday.
Hope u r all well, love kate
Michele, hope all goes ok with Ashleigh's ankle and it wont come down to the plaster...Invites for 3 boys parties for Melissa - she would be happy :D
Nan, Ive had a couple of pains but not really sure if Id count them as period pain type (which i never really used to get) I still havent had a period which I believe is pretty common when solely breastfeeding- actually have to say it's relatively enjoyable not having one LOL
Kate, I know what you mean about trying to put everything in their mouths - EJ keeps trying to put all her toys in her mouth including things that are way too large its sorta funny to watch. EJ loves her bath also - shes been in the big bath now for a few weeks and love to kick off the side lol
Shes had a bad cold for day or so now its gradually getting better and is on antibiotics it hasnt really affected her too badly has been playing still a lot though she detests having her nose cleaned and screams:( We have had to miss last weeks mothers group cause she had a cough and todays is a no go cause of the cold
Hope everyone and their bubs are well:)

Hi everyone
I hope you dont mind me joining your thread - i started another Nov Mum's one but samsmum suggested I join this one. I live in Noosa and my DD was born on 15 November after TTC for 3 1/2 years. We moved up here from Sydney 3 years ago and love it.
Welcome Aspensmum, Elysha was also born on the 15/11 :) They're 14 weeks old today doesnt time fly? :D Aspen is a very nice name:)
Happy 14 week bday also to Ellie, Nara:)
Wow - Aspen is a gorgeous name! How did you decide on it. Very unusual. I love it. Mind if I steal it (much, much later of course!! haha)?? Welcome by the way! Noosa IS a lovely spot.
Hmmm... let me see. To answer some of your questions, no, I haven't had a period yet and no I haven't done any strenuous exercise. Me?? Exercise?? So, it is a mystery. Yeah, they are just like if a period was due, but I haven't got it yet. Bizarre. Oh, well. I'm not too bothered by it. I've always had pretty bad hormones, so it was probably ineveitable! I might go see the GP.
Oh darn. I have to go get Eden up. She's a bit out of sorts today. Sorry to cut this short. Lovely to read all your posts. Bummer I can't stay longer & chat. C U!!

Hi everyone,
Nan - I actually had period pains a few days before my first period (I had to go back on the pill early :( ). Talk about annoying! I hope this isn't a new habit! I hope your pain has cleared up.
Lucky you Kate! :D Ben hates his baths with a passion! Isn't it wonderful when they giggle! I can coax a smile out of Ben, but not a laugh - he laughs only when he wants to!
Ben has taken to 'standing' and 'sitting up' (held) with a passion! I've started reading to him, but have got to turn the telly off first as that is way more interesting!! I think at this stage he just enjoys the different words and sounds than from my normal conversations and the big bright colours of the books.
Cathyn, I hope Elysha's cold has eased up :)
Take care everyone ...

How is everyone?
Nan- Hmm hate to say it hon, but I had the pains for about 5 to 6 days before my actual first period.Ha ha I have to say too, I'm with Tracey about the TMI comment;) How easily we forget about the labour/pre-labour conversations!!
Aspensmum- I agree with Nan, what a beautiful name!Ha ha and a great birthdate;) Now we have 3 little girls born on the same day!Ooh and Noosa is very lovely, we went for our honeymoon there.
Cathy- Happy 14 weeks to Elysha too;) And yes time does fly!Hope EJ's cold racks off soon!
Bella- Sounds like Ben is going great guns!Ellie is also sitting up and standing(holding onto our fingers) ALL the time. Ha ha and I know what you mean about the TV!
KateP-Isn't it lovely when they sleep through!:smiliedance: 700grams in a week HOLY DOOLEY!
Well we definitely need to watch where we put Ellie now.I usually put her on the floor on a rug with her toyframe thingy, I went into the kitchen to wash up and came out and she was other side of lounge room! She's also rolling from her back right over to her tummy but she cant quite drag that arm out from under her!
I actually got some professional pics done of her and they turned out really well. Ha ha but I hate how they make you buy the whole package for the best shot!
Anyway better get going

Hi girls
Nara - wow I can't believe Ellie is moving around so much, Aspen hasn't rolled over yet. Im trying to give her tummy time but she doesnt like it very much.
Part of me is glad as she's still sleeping in her bassinet-once she starts moving though she'll have to go to her own room.
Nan - Thanks and of course you can steal it!! Not sure exactly where it comes from (DH chose it) but I suspect it's from the ski town in the US in Colorado. Yeh Noosa is great, sure beats the rat race and we're lucky enough to be living on acreage so we have lots of space. We're not right in Noosa but about 15 mins out, on the way to Eumundi.
Cathyn - Thanks! So we have a few bubs born on 15/11!
Are your bubs still waking for night feeds or are they mostly sleeping through? Aspen is still waking about 1-2 and again at 4-5 - can't wait til she drops one of them! Now I better go get out of my pj's before she wakes up
Hi Everyone,
Bella, EJ loves to sit up (supported) and look at books though hasnt really stood much as such unless leaning against a chest. Great to hear Ben's going so well i love when they get a new thing they can do makes them so happy
Nara - She's managed to roll onto her side a bit now but not really right over - she can go from tummy to back though but i think isnt on purpose... Shes lying here near me though trying to go over further than side though hasnt managed it - i rolled her over myself and she had a look of amazment when ended up on tummy lol EJs having a photo taken on Monday i think there's a catch as it seems too cheap probably as you said have to buy the set to get the best ones lol
Aspensmum, EJ still wakes usually 4 hourly at night though last night (shock  ) she slept for 6 and a 1/2 hours, let me say my boobs were a little sore as they werent used to that lol She usually wakes about 2ish and then again about 4.30 - theres something about that 4.30 doesnt matter what time she has the feed before it she'll wake at that time.
The cold is gradually easing i havent had to desperately clean her nose this morning though its slightly snufly still - the antibiotics though are starting i think to give her the runs a bit i think:(
Shes also learnt how to SCREAM  - she screams for anything a toy out of reach, her sore throat currently (understandable) etc - It can get a little worrying sometimes working out whats upset her.
Anyway hope everyone and bubs are well :)

I love hearing everyone's stories about their babies!:)
Aspensmum, can you believe as we were approaching three months, Ben had dropped one night feed, then the other, so he would sleep from 10pm to 6am! Lucky us! Except when he hit the magical three months (and just as the Community Nurse had predicted) he decided that he would like ALL his night feeds back thanks very much! Now his habits change from night to night, I'm never sure what to expect!
I think Ben might be coming down with a cold, but not sure! This is a stupid question, but how do you know if your bubs has a cold? Ben sounds a bit blocked up in his sinuses and struggled to feed this morning as he couldn't breathe through his nose, but was okay the rest of the day.
Another new habit: DROOLING! (Aside from the possible cold) Ben has turned into a Saint Bernard!! Not much dribble on his back, big strings when he's sitting up, and as for tummy time ... Niagra Falls! :D I was sitting with him on my lap at a cafe on the weekend and there was spit from one end to the other! Time to pull out the bibs big time!
Take care everyone,
aspensmum

Hi everyone
Bella28 - Aspen has done the same, for about 2-3 weeks she was sleeping from6.30 til about 2am now all of a sudden she's waking about 11-12 (i just pop her dummy back in) and then again at 1-2 for a feed. Just when you think you've kind of got a routine going the little monkeys change it on you. Im not sure about the cold thing but Aspen does sometimes seem stuffed up but she hasnt struggled to feed. She's also dribbling heaps and i've started using a bib when i remember.
Cathyn - Aspen seems to like 4.30 for the last few days too but she's fed about 1am. I much prefer a 2 then 5.30 feed then back to sleep for a while but seemingly she's in control not me :)
We're off for coffee this morning with a girlfriend and then her swimming lesson so hopefully she has a good sleep this morning.
Have a great day!
Hi Everyone:)
Aspensmum, Ive been thinking of swimming for EJ she loves water :)
Bella, EJ usually is a little snuffly but the cold was really obvious as her nose was running constantly for a few days and had to clear it out with saline drops (feel so mean doing that :( ) She also still has a nasty cough and sore throat so is having panadol for that- she also had a sore ear before it really hit hard. Last night she was coughing a lot im hoping that tonight it will have eased up a bit (so far touch wood she hasnt really coughed for a little while).
Drooling EJ's doing that heaps also when shes playing it runs down her cheek onto her mat - hmm not nice lol
Take care everyone:)
Another new habit: DROOLING! (Aside from the possible cold) Ben has turned into a Saint Bernard!! Not much dribble on his back, big strings when he's sitting up, and as for tummy time ... Niagra Falls! I was sitting with him on my lap at a cafe on the weekend and there was spit from one end to the other! Time to pull out the bibs big time!
LOL Bella !! Ben and Ethan sounds so, so alike !! This is Ethan to a T !! We will have to swapdrool stories at the melb mums meet
Cathyn Hope Elyshas cold is getting better, and Bella hope Bens doesnt turn into anything nasty, poor things
Ethan has a bit of a cold too, he is very "snuffly" so i am using a saline spray for his nose (which he just LOVES !! NOT !!) and that helps, also i give him Dimetapp before bed and use a humidifier thing in his room so his sleep has not been effected which is good.
I cant believe so many bubs are moving around so much, especially Ellie, Nara thats amazing!! she must be learning off those big bros of hers !! Ethan is a big fat lump on the floor still  although he is pushing his heels into the ground now a bit and going backwards. Still doesnt really like it on his tummy.
Ethan has been sleeping through for a few weeks now, he has a bottle at 8pm then sleeps till 7am (ish.. sometimes 6:30 sometimes 7:30) ITS WONDEFUL  he is an angel ... i do keep waiting for it to change though...once he is teething i guess...
Glad you joined us Aspens mum !!
anyway enough :ecomcity: from me
chat soon ladies
hugs to all xx
Did someone mention drooling?
Sienna is drooling so much that she chokes herself if she is laying on her back:eek:
Samsmum, Sienna is also a lump on the floor...she hasn't rolled either way yet, and doesn't look like she's going to do it anytime soon. I'm sure when she does we'll know about it tho. She is more interested in sitting up and looking around than rolliong over.
Sienna still wakes thru the night for a bottle, sometimes she wakes for 2 bottles before 6am.
I really like reading about everyone elses bubs...at least I know my bub is not the only one doing...or not doing...things :)

Hi,
Have been busy of late, Come on when I can. How is everyone.
Ashleigh is back in plaster. She is back in plaster for another two weeks to see if we can fix this problem with her foot turning inwards straightened out. LOL we had to go and have the plaster put on twice because she got out of the last lot, hoping she can't wiggle out of this plaster, she has only plaster on certain parts of her foot but if she won't stay in the plaster whe will have to have a full plaster done.
Regarding the drooling, LOL Ashleigh is drooling so much that we have to change her four to five times a day, it does not help much when she also has reflux.
In the next couple of weeks, Ashleigh has to go back to the paedaetrician's regarding her reflux and foot, and we will finally get to go and see the clinic. This will be her first time at the clinic. Just so many things on with other kids, haven't had the chance to get to the clinic before now. Also she has her four months needles coming up as well.

Hi all,
Michele, I really admire you with 5 kids! One little guy can be enough for me sometimes! I hope little Ashleigh's plasters stay on this time, and she doesn't have to have the full plasters done! :)
I'm glad there are some fellow droolers out there! :D ). I have been very excited this weekend as Ben has been rolling onto his side! - Although I think it may just be because he has discovered this cool new friend looking back at him from the mirror on the playmat! He is infatuated! :o It could still be a while before he rolls the whole way over! (I'll know when he does, though - he HATES being on his tummy!)
He's also decided his pram is way uncool! I have learnt quickly how to carry a baby AND push his (empty!) pusher at the same time!
I love waiting for these milestones - I wonder if it is it just as exciting with subsequent children?
Take care everyone,
I love waiting for these milestones - I wonder if it is it just as exciting with subsequent children?
It is just as exciting but because you are so busy with another child you are not just sitting there waiting and watching for things to happen iykwim?
All of a sudden your bubs does something new and your like "wow! what a clever little chap :yelclap: "
hehe

So how is everyone going? Hmm I didn't really want to say anything.......but I have been diagnosed with Pnd.Very odd because I thought everything had been going so well.My CHN seems to think it's a mixture of things that have lead up to it...... like: me losing my waters 16 days before delivery (and me stressing about that),my VERY fast delivery (that really didn't go anything like planned), the fact that Ellie chose the bottle when I was so determined to feed this time and that DH has just had a vasectomy (therefore no re-runs;) )
Sooooooooo it was a pretty fullon week last week but I'm glad I did get some help.My GP has prescribed anti-depressants and I have been seeing a psychologist and I am feeling ALOT better:smiliedance:
I think I didn't want to say anything because regardless of what people say there is still a stigma about "the crazy mother"!Even seeing the doctor made me feel like a real freak! Some of the questions he asked.......Have I had thoughts of hurting the children?Have I harmed myself?Blah blah blah:eek: It had nothing to do with Ellie or the boys, just I knew in my head I wasn't right.IYKWIM
Anyways ha ha enough of my :ecomcity:
DROOL- LOL OMG I'm surprised we're not all drowning in Ellie's!It can't be teeth already can it? Hmm I can't remember the boys drooling this much!
We took the kids to the pool yesterday, it was great! Ellie was in the water for nearly an hour and she still chucked a tanty when we got her out and dried her!LOL it did wear her out though!YYYYAAAYYYYY!
Hmm anyway's I better get going,
Love to all
Love and hugs to you Nara :hugs:
Dont ever feel bad about whats happened to you, you are an awesome mum !!
Good on you for seeking help and letting us know too.
I hope you get the support that you need. You certainly have 100% support from me :D

Nara, hugs from me as well. You are really brave - you have enough to deal with without the doctor giving you the third degree as well!
You are a brilliant Mother with three gorgeous kids - you don't need to feel ashamed about a thing! I hope you feel you can always come here for support.
I hope you're feeling like yourself again soon (((hugs))) :p

I am actually feeling really good today!I am even excited about our trip to Tassie in April!YAY Might sound odd but that was one of my first clues.I just couldn't get excited about anything.......even an impending plane ride(haha never been on one before!)

Hi girls
Nara - You'll have a wonderful time in Tassie im sure and it sounds just what you need. Glad to hear your excited about it.
Bella - know what you mean about the pram. Aspen likes it most of the time but yesterday she was tired and hot and I carried her n wheeled the pram and used it to carry my shopping!
Michelle - Hi! Sorry to hear about Ashleigh's plaster. She sounds like quite the drooler! I've started to use bibs for Aspen when I remember. Yesterday I had drool running off my arm - charming!
cwsmum - i like reading about what the other bubs are doing too although i have to stop myself from comparing Aspen, she'll do everything in her own time im sure.
Cathyn - Aspen likes the water too but i have to make sure she's fed and well rested before her lesson otherwise she gets a bit grumpy.
Samsmum - hope Ethans cold is better
It's raining her today and I have to go to get food for dinner. It was DH's birthday yesterday and we're having the family over for tea tonight. Have a great day everyone.
Hi Everyone,
Michele - Hope all goes ok with Ashleigh's foot and reflux.
Bella - Know what you mean about the pram usually Elysha loves her walks but sometimes she'll just crack it and scream - my BF when with me has carried her round a supermarket cause of it - I really dont want her to get used to being carried when she should be in it cause I cant imagine even trying to shop by myself if having to carry her, the shopping and push a pram
Nara, Great to hear that your feeling a lot better now and the Trip to Tassie sounds good - hope that you'll have a great time there.
Tracey, Hope Ethan's cold is getting better - Elyshas still got a bad cough and stuffy nose but it's gradually getting better - its been over a week now since she got it:(
Aspensmum - hope your dinner goes well tonight for your Hubby's birthday:)
EJ's become a big wiggles fan lol she dances away to the DVD now - I have to say it was the only way i got the housework done yesterday without numerous interuptions  Shes also liking to sit up a lot now (supported or in bumbo sometimes).
Hope everyone and bubs are well
Hi Everyone,
I know it has been awhile, but I am still here. Just very busy looking after my two little ones. I had no idea how hectic it would be with two kids. Niamh is doing very well and gaining lots of weight. I think she is going to be very active as she is rolling over both ways already. The only problem I have is that she only sleeps for short periods (approx 20 mins) during the day, so I find it very difficult to get things done.
I had a quick look through the previous posts and am glad to hear that everyone is doing so well. I know what you mean about the drooling!!!! Nara, I'm sorry to hear about the PND. I hope you are feeling better soon.
Audrey:)

Hi,
Hugs Nara, I know how you are feeling, the first few months after Ashleigh was born I was feeling down in the dumps. I actually had to stay in hospital an extra couple of days because they thought I had pnd. I saw a psychiatrist then and he offered me antidepressants and I refused them. I am much better now but occassionally I feel depressed.
Ashleigh is still drooling lots and her reflux is giving her a rash under her neck because she is constantly wet.
Regarding her plaster, she has kept this plaster on this time, hoping that next week we will get better news on her foot.
Ashleigh will be four months this week, and she will be having her four month needles this week. I am also thinking of starting her on rice cereal and gel this coming week.

Hi everyone hope you are all going well
Audrey good to hear from you and glad to hear Niamh is doing so well :)
Ethans cold is better but Samuel got it next and it really knocked him around,so i have had a sick and cranky (almost) two year old to deal with
oh well
Ethan was weighed and measured this morning 7045grams and 65.6cm long !! He is MASSIVE !! hehe but so cute :p
I have also been told i have "borderline" PND.... whatever that means... anyway they want me to see a counsellor so i am hoping to do that soon
anyway hugs to all :hugs:

Hugs Tracey :hugs: - you are one tough cookie! Make sure you take some time out just for yourself for some R'n'R - even if it is only 30mins for a bath! (Although I know this can be very near impossible!) I hope the counselling helps. Ethan sounds fighting fit - I can't wait to meet him sometime!:p You must be developing some nice muscly arms! (I know I've started grunting again like when I was pregnant every time I lift Ben from his cot!! Attractive!)
Audrey - Ben is a catnapper too! I have periods of frenetic activity when he is asleep - its amazing how much you can do in 20 mins! However, I do get a bit frustrated at not being able to get things done - I had big visions of me learning to cook again and having dinner ready when DH gets home like a 1960's housewife!! That is definitely on the backburner for a while!
Michele - you'll have to let us know how Asleigh goes with her solids :chef: - will this help her reflux?
PS: I've been dying to use that chef smilie - it is so cute!
Take care everyone,
Ethan sounds fighting fit - I can't wait to meet him sometime!:p You must be developing some nice muscly arms! (I know I've started grunting again like when I was pregnant every time I lift Ben from his cot!! Attractive!)
**picture me doing body builder poses**
Hope to meet you and Ben at Melb mums meet next week Bella.. do you think you'll make it?
:hugs: to all
Hi Everyone,
Audrey and Bella - EJ's a catnapper also - in fact recently her sleeps during the day are getting less and less I spose at least at night they are getting longer - had one 7 hour sleep the other night (Just not good on the boobs even with a feed before bed )...It can be frustrating trying to get things done I agree - i had 3 attempts to get the lounge vaccummed the other day cause she kept waking up all the time - and they say vacum noise is meant to help sleep - oh yeah??? lol
Tracey, Ethans going real well:)Hope you can get a break and relax - not good also about Sam gettting sick - Especially with a baby also. I was at the docs earlier this week cause very emotional and anxiety - he thinks could be slight PND also but cause of the breastfeeding didnt want to give me any anti depressants - Ive got some valerian from the chemist which is the only herbal thing they said i could take while breastfeeding that may relax me - so ill see how that goes doc just said get out of the house more - I went on a mums and bubs walk the other day - ouch i have sore thighs LOL
Nara, Hope you are feeling a lot better and relaxing a bit also - though with 3 can be hard.
Michele, Hope Asleigh goes ok with her 4 month needles - EJ's are in a week and a 1/2 and Im not looking forward to them at all:( - Panadol 1st this time!
EJ's nearly double her birth weight - 6.225kg yesterday (13lb 11.6) which is good (3.220kg when born) - she put on 200g in 3 days which Im real happy abouty - her cold knocked her around the week+ before and she only put on 140g in a week and 1/2 while she had it. She has he 4 month CHN development check on Wed so i hope shell go well. Shes nearly got the full roll over going - she lies on her side a lot now, she just cant get the shoulder over but has the bum up in the air fine lol it looks real uncomfortable..
Hoping Ill be at the meet next Friday also:)
Hope everyone and their bubs are well:)

Hi,
Ashleigh had her needles on Friday, She was unsettled for 24 hours and went off her bottle for a while, but she seems better today.
Went to physio on Friday and the physio has made a guard to put on Ashleigh so I can keep putting it on her when she wiggles out of it. She seems to get out of the plaster easily. Hoping this will work. The physio said there could be a problem with her hip on the leg with the foot turned inwards, she thinks that her hip is turning inwards as well. Have a visit to paedaetrician on Tuesday so hoping to get some answers about her foot, hip and her reflux.
Started Ashleigh on rice cereal with gel mixed in with it so it won't be bland, on Friday and she was a bit unsure of it. Started gagging a couple of times but is started getting used to it now, only giving her a small amount at the moment and as the weeks go by will increase it as well as trying her out on other foods.

I was so excited yesterday!! Xander rolled over for the first time (well the first time that I saw)!!!! :smiliedance: Is this late or something? With Nimah rolling on both sides it seems a bit late.
Michele: How is Ashleigh doing with the guard? Is it helping to keep her in the plaster?
I've started Xander on rice cereal, he was sooo hungry all the time that I have been told repeatedly (by mum and nanna) that he needed something more, he has taken to it like a fish to water!! Eats the one teaspoon that I make up and looks for more, he practially bounces in his seat when he sees me make it up, of course he gets his bottle first but he is MUCH more interested in the cereal.

Hugs Cathyn :hugs: - sorry to hear that you're not yourself. I used to take Valerian to help me sleep (I had a little sleepwalking issue, hehe! ) and it worked a treat - I hope it works for you. My MIL also uses Passionflower Tea - the main ingredient of which is Valerian, but I'm not sure how the other ingredients would go with your breasfeeding. It chilled me out too much - I'd wake up in the morning all hazy!
This morning our lovely rented flat was sold :( . The realtor told me the buyers were investors (with the possibility of us staying on), but it was a big lie, the buyer was in our home this morning announcing how she was going to change it before she moves in. I guess that's life, but I'm going to miss our little home! :crying:
Tracey - Ben and I are definitely intending to make the journey to Halliday Park, we are both very excited about meeting the Bub Hub people! :p I wonder if Ben and Ethan will be like peas in a pod?
Michele, it is so exciting that Ashleigh has started solids!
Oh - nearly forgot - where do you weigh EJ, Cathyn? I have no idea of Ben's weight in between CHN visits!
Take care,
Hi All
Bella, Thanks for the :hugs: - the valerian sorta helps it does calm me down a bit. Not good to hear you place has been sold - i rent also and like it here so being made to move against your wishes isnt good:( Hope to get to meet you also on Friday Im planning on coming up myself since it wont be too hot for the drive with ej (no air-con). One of the child health centres here has scales in the main room that you are allowed to use any time they are open so between CHN visits i just drop in to that centre - i just cant get her length done unless at an appointment - I know of a few people who use the scales at supermarkets also (a nappy=45g as an estimate btw).
Ive had a few people asking me if Ive started Elysha on solids as yet but so far i havent though she seems interested in me eating dinner sometimes - think ill wait till 6 months. EJ actually finaly rolled on Sat right over onto elbows lol i think it shocked her as much as me and my BF lol
Anyway catch you all soon - especially the Melbourne people going on Fri
Hi everyone
Great to hear all the bubs are doing so well. I noticed a couple of you mentioned pnd...i forget who now, it's kinda late and my brain is already in bed...I hope you are starting to feel better now :)
Sienna is doing pretty good, she has had another growth spurt recently and almost fits into 00's  She has grown alot faster than DS did, I feel sorry for him if she keeps growing at this rate...DH is already teaching her to beat her brother up... ...charming I know...
Sienna is still not rolling over, not from her tummy to her back or back to her tummy. She hardly ever even tries to, I have seen her roll up onto her side a couple of times, but not many. Do you think I should be worried? DS was rolling both ways by around 4mths but Sienna just doesn't seem interested, she is happy laying on her back on the floor...she is happier sitting in her rocker where she can see everything.
Well..my brain went to bed ages ago, so I guess I should probably go to bed too :)
Hi Guys
Thanks for all the support regarding my "borderline" PND i am actually feeling heaps better since talking to people about it :D
Cathyn and Bella i really look forward to catching you at the mums meet this Friday , Bella i am sure Ben and Ethan are going to be like Peas in a pod and great mates too !! :yelclap:
Cwsmum i wouldnt worry about Siennas rolling, Ethan hasnt shown any signs yet either, still just a blob on the floor hehe.. Also Samuel didnt roll until almost 5 1/2 months old and then developed quite quickly from there... Give it a bit longer before it concerns you too much.
Hope all others are well :hugs: to everyone
i am actually feeling heaps better since talking to people about it :D
Tracey, I agree there i think Im feeling a lot better after letting out some of the feelings also makes it easier to cope etc... :hugs: (thanks again Nara for the chat the other day)
Catch up with you on Friday me and EJ are looking foreward to the day - hopefully she'll be in a good mood once there lol I think shes teething and can get a little moody at times
Hope everyone is well:)
Hi girls!
Must say a big "don't worry" to you cwsmum! Eden isn't rolling either. Sienna will do it when she feels like it. She's probably just interested in other things. I know Eden still loves a good chat or a smilie face!
Cathyn - IKWYM about the vacuum cleaning. My floors have seriously not been vacuumed for a month  because every time I do it Eden seems to wake up. I will have to do it on the weekend when DH can look after her, but I keep saying that and it never happens! :o I've had people asking me about putting Eden on solids, too. She hasn't shown any need (or want for that matter!) for anything other than milk, so I'm leaving it for another few months, too. I guess we are just lucky enough to have heaps of milk for our bubs! :yelclap:
Well, I do hope you are all feeling well and have an amazing day today. I'd better go as I don't think bubhub chatter is the best use of my 'housework' time while Eden is actually having a long sleep!! Yay!
Love,
Nan. xx

Hi everyone,
I'm very excited as I've just had my first Mum's Group! (3 and 3/4 months later!) Yay! I thought I had it good with Ben, but you should have seen these gorgeous little babies! Their Mums put them in their pushers when they were unsettled and they just WENT TO SLEEP or just laid there and entertained themselves! I have never seen anything like it - Ben would be screaming blue murder if I had done that! I think they had a secret weapon - the dummy! I am definitely considering trying one out! :p Do you guys use dummies?
Ben has developed this hilarious habit of putting his hands out in front of his eyes and staring at them like they are the most amazing thing in the world! He's gobsmacked! :yelclap: I'm glad he's discovering that his hands belong to him - its all part of the learning process!
Take care everyone,

Hi,
Ashleigh is starting to get the gist of eating. She is having rice cereal with gel in it a couple times a day now. I will probably leave the vegies until about 5 to 5 and a half months. I will probably try her on fruit next but will wait for a couple of weeks before starting that.
Went to Paedaetrician on Tuesday, we are off to see the Paedaetric Orthopedic specialist on the 21st March regarding her foot. Her foot is still to tight and her heel is to high, so she might need surgery on the foot. She is also going to have a ultrasound done on the hip on Wednesday the 15th March to see if there is a problem with her hip.
Ashleigh has been very unsettled today, refusing feeds, crying, not sleeping, it must be the weather, it is so hot here lately, she seems to sleep better when it is cooler.
Michele
Mother of Christopher, Luke, Melissa, Jayden and Ashleigh(4 months old)
Michelle - Ashleigh sounds like me!! I can never sleep when it is too hot!! Good to hear she is taking to eating.
Bella - we considered a dummy for Eden, but she hates them!! We have tried a few different kinds and she just cries and spits them out like we're trying to suffocate her! She gags on them, too, because she doesn't know what to do with them! Oh well. It doesn't bother me too much I just make sure she doesn't suck on her hands too much. She's more into sucking on toys now that she can hold them herself. (Just learned how to do it! YAY!!) Good luck with it.
Love,
Nan. xx

Hi everyone
For some reason I stopped getting email notifications of replies to the thread so i havent visited for a while. Not much to tell - Aspen is now about 5kgs and will be 4 months on Wednesday! We're off to Sydney next Saturday to visit family - some haven't met her yet so we're very excited!!! She'll be having her 4m vaccination on Wednesday which im not looking fwd to at all. DH is coming with me for moral support which is great. She's become quite fussy with her feeding, coming on n off while BF numerous times, im hoping it's just a phase. she's also started waking at about 12 for a feed when before she was sleeping til about 2.
Samsmum - glad to hear the Melb lunch was good, yeh it'd be great to meet everyone n the bubs wouldnt it?
Nan - know what you mean about the vacuuming, i was going to do a bit today but dont want to wake Aspen up. Luckily we have a cleaner that comes in each fortnight. They used to come just once a month but after she was born we increased it. Im hoping to keep them as long as DH is happy to fork out the $$ for it.
Michelle - wow, Ashleigh's on solids already, we can't wait to start Aspen but I don't think she's ready yet. Aspen's more settled in the cooler weather too - we had a few cooler days last week and it was great.
Bella - yep we use a dummy, dunno how I could have survived without it. Aspen has become quite attached to it and can almost pop it back in her mouth when it falls out (I pin it on her during the day with a ribbon so it doesnt fall on the floor). I bet Ben looks gorgeous playing his new "hand" game.
cwsmum - Aspens' not rolling either and doesnt show any real signs at this stage. She also loves her rocker/swing and is happily sleeping in it as I write.
Hope everyone else is well.
Hi Everyone,
Aspensmum your so lucky to have a cleaner - It took me 3 times to hang out the washing this afternoon (one load)as I kept hearing screams comming from the lounge where she'd previoously been asleep
Tracey and Bella, Great to see you both at the Meet on Friday  - EJ had a great time that day though i think got a little overtired lol Slept the whole way back home - though I hate it when she sleeps with her head on her chest in the car seat - when fast asleep she just wont keep it back.... Ethan and Ben are looking great - its great seeing other babies Elysha's age
Nan, I agree chatting on bubhub does keep me away from housework also but then again Im one of those people also that don't like it much - Which reminds me tomorrow I had better try and vacum again LOL
In regards to dummies - I really wish in ways she'd take one but she constantly spits it out....
I think something i ate for dinner last night (we had chinese) got to EJ and me, we werent sick at all but she had real bad colic last night and this morning and I've had stomach cramps also :/ She didnt sleep last night maybe over stimulated a little aslo after the park and visiting work possibly as well  ) shes ok now and in a fast sleep for last 3 hours which is great. Shes been sleeping through pretty much the last week (apart from last night) so I hope tonight will have a good sleep.
Ejs now in 00 pretty much all of the time - 63cm on Wed and 6.26kg (13lb 13) - she has her needles on Wednesday also am not looking foreward to that:(
Anyway hope everyone & bubs are well
Oh, needles - don't remind me. We have to go there again in a few weeks, too.
:fingerscrossed: everything will be okay (not for Eden.....for me!!! )
Love,
Nan. xx

Hi everyone,
Yes, I do have a little sheepish secret! To cut a long story short, when I first logged onto Bub Hub, I wasn't sure how much you needed to protect your real identity, so I thought I'd give myself a new name (and identity - in my minds eye I am a tall dark Italian!!) :D My real name is actually ... (drum roll!) Claire! Hehe! However, I've become attached to my alter ego Bella - I might need to be given a few weeks amnesty to get used to the change!
It was a real buzz to meet Tracey and Cathyn (and bubs) on Friday - its so exciting to put faces to the names! It would be fun to have a November Mums meet! Oh, and Ethan, Sam and EJ are even cuter than their avatars!
I tried a dummy on Ben the other night (he has started feeding around 2am then waking every hour after, two or more times :( - I'm revisiting that newborn exhaustion) but to no avail! Nan - he is just like Eden - not really sure what it's for and spits it out!
Good to see you back Terri - we were only wondering where you had gone on Friday!:)
Good luck with your bubs injections, Mums!

Hi Bella or should i say Claire !!
I must say Ben was so adorable too! Such a cutie :p
Terri ! Good to hear from you again, sounds like Jacob is doing really well and is a real Whopper (like my Ethan!) good to see
on the Vaccuming issue ... well i wonder why i bother because every time i vac Sam manages to drag dirt in from the backyard again... he has a real knack at doing it :o
Michele how is Ashleigh going on solids?
When are others thinking about starting solids?
I am thinking of starting when E is 4 mths old (in about 10 days) just one meal in the late arvo, he just doesnt settle between feeds at 4 and then 8, its like i almost permanently have him on the boob then.. so i figure he must need more..
Hoping some solids will help
Good luck to all heading off for the 4 mth shots
Anyway, hi to all and hope your all well and bubs too
:hugs:
Hi All.
Terri, good to hear all is ok and bubs is growing well - 9kg one big boy for 3 1/2 months.
Bella (should I say Claire ), Agree It is good putting faces to the names and it is great meeting other November Babies.
Nan/Tracey, the needles went ok today, I didnt cry though wasnt sure if i was going to at the start, EJ even did a smile 10 mins afterwards - I gave her panadol before I went though the CHN's said i shouldnt have really as may not have needed it - At least it would have eased her pain and she was a lot happier after - though screamed a bit for a few minutes :(
Nan a while ago you mentioned IQ tests lol - I found this one though it relies heavily on parents percentions (maybe mine are a little high on what she can do hehe The way I scored her she scored real well on it, 12 ) This is the link if your interested:) http://kukusworld.com/site/catalog/baby-iq-test.php
EJ's been trying to stand - I did a pull to sit the other day and she planted her feet and pushed off so ended up 1/2 standing - shes now been doing it a lot and putting full weight on her legs for longer now which is great:) Still hasnt rolled right over except for the once though is now rolling onto her side both ways (before was only one way) and staying there to play with things. If she drops a toy on the opposite side she'll roll over and get it now.
Tracey, I'm thinking of waiting till 6 months to try EJ on solids though could be a little earlier depending on her if she seems to need it in a few weeks.
Hope everyone and bubs are well:)

Hi girls
Just a real quick note before Aspen wakes up. She had her 4m injections yesterday and last night was terrible. She slept from 6.30-11.30(which was good) then it all went downhill. She made lots n lots of sleep noises and then woke up, i re-settled her, she then woke at 3.30 for a feed (i hadnt gone back to sleep from the 11.30 one!!) then from this feed it was every 30-40 mins i had to go back in to her to put her dummy back in before waking at 5.30 for another feed. What's been everyone elses' experience, im wondering if it was the needles or whether she may have a bit of a cold or something?
thanks, gotta fly shes awake
Aspensmum, maybe its something with those 4 month injections :( EJ was fine till about 2.30pm yesterday- she had the shots at 9am (i did giver her some panadol before though) around 2pm when I was at a monthers group she got really upset even trying to put her on a boob wouldnt calm her she finally calmed down but wasnt her happy self... I got her home and was still real upset, legs obviously hurting and checked temp which was up a bit for her so i gave her some more panadol and she seemed ok while that was in effect...She slept ok (8 hours) but woke up really quiet, hot (had a bit of a temp again) and swelling on the leg where she had the 2 injections the other wasnt so bad. You could feel the heat coming off the swelling - A cool face washer seems to have helped the leg and the panadol did bring down the temp and make her happier but she's really not herself - She didnt have such a reaction with the 2mth ones afterwards either.

So sorry to hear about your poor little ones and their injections Cathyn and aspensmum :( ... DH and I were discussing it yesterday, and were wondering if the dose increases at the 4 month injections, or is the same as the 2 month injections. (I was hoping that if the dose is the same, then the reactions would lessen as DS's weight is heavier). It sounds like they might increase it, if your little girls have had a reaction this time. I hope they are feeling better now :) .
I noticed the other day that the first November 2006 Mum has popped up! Wow! Ahh the memories! It was March 24, 2005 when I realised I was pregnant! :) What a day - I'll never forget it - so excited, then crabby because I would have to wait 2 1/2 months to tell everyone else! :D
I noticed the other day that the first November 2006 Mum has popped up! Wow! Ahh the memories!
I noticed that also and gee the memories did come flooding back.... It was around 15th March I found out i was pregnant and joined here

EJs a lot better now she slept most of the afternoon and has woken up a lot better though her legs are still pretty sore:( I spose though a little soreness is a lot better thing to go through than the diseases that they prevent.....

Mmm, you're absolutely right, Cathyn, about soreness being a small payoff to prevent those awful diseases. There is an excellent section in Kaz Cooke's Kidwrangling about immunization which leaves absolutely no doubt in my mind immunization is for the best - I'll be reading it before I take Ben in a couple of weeks ... :fingerscrossed:

Hi there gang, sorry its been so long! So much going on! Just read a few of the previous threads re the 4mont shots and Elliot has been a little off since thrusday when he had them. That night he woke up for the first time in 6 weeks! He is ok, but like you have all said - just not his normal bubbly self. I'm sure it will calm down soon.
We are off to Adelaide for a wedding this weekend, so am a bit anxious about flying with him but am sure it will all be fine. Elliot has now hit 7kilos and 68 cms! What a whopper! He changes so much everyday, he is amazing - just like all of them.
Well, just a quick one for now!

Well g'day g'day! Ha ha I was just reading through and realised how slack I had become!!Haven't posted in ages!
We're all really good! We took Ellie on her first camping trip last weekend!:smiliedance: It was awesome, ha ha she absolutely loved it.We took the portacot so it doubled as somewhere to sleep and a "cage" so she wouldn't roll around in the grass outside! To be honest I think she was disappointed to be back home!
I am so jealous of you Melbourne mums!I got excited thinking I may be able to meet some of you when I flew through from Tassie, but we'll only be on the ground for 35 minutes lol.........so hmmmm probably not:rolleyes: You can bet I'll be waving though!
Ellie just had her 4 month needles, so I'm hoping she is ok over the next day or so.She didn't even really cry that much ha ha I think she was braver than me!
She is now 5.57 kilo's and 67cm's long.I have tried her on farex and apple and at times she will eat heaps and then the next day she won't have any!
Bella (or should I say Claire:p )- I love Kaz Cooke!I wouldn't have survived any of my pregnancies if it wasn't for "Up the Duff".Is kid wrangling really good too??
KateP- How exciting!!We are off to Tassie 2 weeks from Friday so I'm getting pretty worried about how Ellie will go on the plane too........Ha ha hmmmm I'll be honest bit worried about me too! I've never been on a plane!!
Tracey- How are you???Have you tried Ethan on solids yet?Hmm those boys hey!As soon as I mop or vaccuum either Cody or Dylan spill orange juice or milk all over it.Ha ha hmmm I'll use that as my excuse today I think not to do it;)
Well anyway Ellie has just woken so I better get going!
Lots of Love

Hi all,
Nara - Kidwrangling is wonderful :D - its more 'human' advice than 'technical' advice, if that makes any sense!! Less text-booky! I really like it. As for Up The Duff - every week I'd be reading where I was up to - I couldn't have survived without it!
I know how you feel about flying Nara and KateP, I always feel a bit anxious! We're taking Ben to Launceston tomorrow, and he went to Hobart back in Jan and he was fine. He slept the whole way, and his ears were fine on the way up, but on the way down he started to look a bit stressed, so I fed him until we landed and he was a-ok! The only problem was that I had a window seat and he kept kicking off the plane wall when I was trying to latch him on, and it was a disaster!!:o
Good luck on your first flight, Nara  - Tassie is stunning on the descent, hopefully you have a window seat and can enjoy the view!
Hi Everyone,
Nara, Would have been good to meet you if youd been stopping in Melb a little longer - Hope Ellie went ok with the Injections, she's growing well:)
KateP, Elliots growing well also hope he went ok with the flight and got over his injections.
Well EJs now doubled her birthweight 14lb 2oz (6.42kg) on Tuesday - Taking an average on her length it should be about 65cm the way shes been gaining length in the past. She plateaued (if thats the word) on her weight gain for a few weeks gaining only about 30g a week so I decided to try her on a little rice cereal on Monday (before Id weighed her (she did 130g in 5 days this time)). I first tried it mixed with water you should have seen the expression on her face pure disgust  even adding a little apple didnt help much. Yesterday I tried some with EBM and a little apple and she seemed to like that. Im hoping it will stop her being constantly hungry - on Sunday she fed nearly all afternoon
Bella (Claire), Up the Duff is a great book - Ill have to check out Kidwrangling also:)
Hope everyone and bubs are well

Hello to all you November mother's.
I hope you don't mind me joining in on your thread, but I have just discovered this resource and thought it would be great to have a chat to you all. My first child was born 18/11/05, a darling son Nick. Have had a deal of trouble in getting him to sleep during the days to start with, but once taught the art of wrapping made a big difference. However, while he does go down for about 3-5 sleeps a day they are what you would call a catnap!
Always seems to struggle with wind out the bottom end and from what I can tell it is this that wakes him up, however of a night he will get rid of most of it himself, but when it gets too hard will just scream and the only way I can get him to stop is put him on the boob!
Have recently started him on cereal (mornings) and veges (night) and a bottle of formula of a night as he seemed to be forever hungry, now back to about 5-6 hours sleep straight, but I still wanted to keep breast feeding for the next couple of months in between.
Do any of you have any advice as to how I can extend the sleeps during the day and get rid of the windiness???:fingerscrossed:
Hi girls.
So nice to read your posts and catch up with how all the babies are doing.
Eden had her 4 mth shots yesterday. :crying: She had pretty much the same readtion as Elysha! She was fine for the morning, but come 4pm she was distraught - even the boobies didn't work! (You KNOW something is wrong when the boobies don't work!! ) She didn't have a temp. but must have been in a fair bit of pain because only Panadol and some badly needed Daddy cuddles worked! She seems her usual jolly self today. :smiliedance:
She is now 4mths 2 days old and still small! She weighs 5.5 kgs, is 59 cms long, but this is the funny one - her head is 41.5 cms round!! What a crack up! All her other measurments are 25th percentile and her head is 50th percentile!! All the more brains, I say!
Terri - so good to hear from you and to know that paternity issues are being worked through. Jacob sounds just goreous!
Bella/Claire - you cheeky girl! Pulling a "swifty" on us like that! I'm sorry to say it but you'll always be Bella to me.
Cathyn - good to hear EJ is taking to the cereal now. Eden is putting on about 100g (give or take a few) every week and doesn't seem hungry yet, so I might keep putting off the solid food for now. I'm heaps excited to start though! :chef: Go EJ!
Nickparents - have you tried taking Potassium?? I take it every day as it helps relax your bowels! Lovely to meet you. Welcome to bubhub!
Nara - I hope you enjoy your time in Tassie! We LOVED our time there 18months ago.
Kate - Adelaide hey?? Whereabouts? That's my neck of the woods! I hope it was a nice wedding. I love weddings. So romantic....
Well, it was this time last year I found out I was pregnant, too! THat was such a nice time......
Anyway, we've just bought Eden a jolly jumper second hand off ebay and she loves it, so we're off to try it out again so mummy can tidy the kitchen! heehee
Have a great day girls.
Love,
Nan. xx
P.S. For some reason my colours aren't working today and I can't do my usual blue. Bummer!

Thanks Nan.
No have not tried taking potassium, but will definitely give it a go. Here's hoping it makes a difference.:smiliedance:
Nick has made a liar out of me and is now past the hour of sleeping...finally I can get something done!!
Nick had his four month shots a couple of weeks ago and went ok with them, but I gave him Panadol as a precaution. All seems to be fine, but he does still have a bit of a lump on one of his legs, but no redness and doesn't seem to bother him.
Hope Eden is fine after inital reaction to shots.
Many thanks
Lisa (mummy of Nick)
Welcome to the November mums Lisa, we hope to chat more to you
Nan ! its so weird reading your post not in blue
good to hear from you again Nara, you are a slacker !! lol
sounds like all the bubs are putting on good weight, well done mums
Nan your Eden is the opposite to Samuel, he always had the larger weight/length and the smaller head !! LOL i guess he is not so brainy (and seems that way some days LOL poor kid i do adore him !!)
my last few weeks has been tough with Ethan, he has been unsettled not sleeping (day times) inbetween any naps he had he would cry or just grizzle... its been horrid, so i finally decided i may try him on a bottle of formula for lunch (so breast, formula, breast, formula) anyway he has been a different child lately, sleeping, happy, chatting, playing etc etc.. poor kid must have been starving  i fel like such a bad mother because the same thing happened with Samuel around this age and i should have realised earlier....
Also Samuel turned two last monday :smiliedance: and he is showing me what "terrible two" means !!! oh well ...... :o
Anyway hugs to all mums and bubs

Hi guys
Im just wondering whether anyone else's bubs have decided to start waking more often at night for feeds and/or settling. Aspen was sleeping from 6.30-1 or 2 but has now started waking at about 9.30-10 and just gets re-settled and then again at 11-12 for a feed, then it's every 3 hours thereafter. she is mostly BF unless she's really fussy and doesnt have a good feed at 6ish.
If so, what did you do and did it help at all?
thanks

24-03-2006, 13:41
Hi Aspens mum
I was/am having the exact same problem with Nick, at first he would sleep for 5-6 hours on BF alone, then about 4 weeks ago started doing the exact same thing, so I figured he was hungry. This is when I started the little bit of veges at night. It helped a little extending the sleeps to about 3-4 hours and then I tried a formula feed at night between 7-8pm and he is now back to sleeping 5-6 hours, however still wakes every now and then for settling.
I am not sure that I am any help, other than I am going through the same scenario. I thought that the waking to be re-settled was wind and Nick being too tired to be bothered getting rid of it himself, but once I have resettled him he seems to sleep for another couple of hours until he has slept as I said roughly 5-6hours and then just refuses to settle, so that is when I BF him again, and then he sleeps for another couple of hours.
It is just awful getting up every couple of hours and I find that I am more exhausted now as the sleep that I am getting isn't sound, making it even harder to deal with him during the day.
I too would like to hear anyone elses feedback in regards to this as I and DH would love to get our sound sleep back, even if it is only 4 or so hours at a time.
Thanks for the welcome to November mums, Samsmum.
Welcome Nicksparents:)
Aspensmum - The last fews days EJs been going through a growthspurt i think and I am having the same thing - she'd just started sleeping though (well 6-8 hours) and now its 4-3-2 again ARGH Shes feeding pretty much constrantly also which is why i'm trying cereal but so far she wont have too much i think she finds it a little bland even with fruit - though will open her mouth for it - Hopefully she'll take more of a liking to it soon so my boobs can get a break lol
Nicksparents - EJ also has problemns with wind :( Brauers colic releif helps a bit with her which is good
Nan - hope Eden is ok now it took EJ a few days to get over them this time... and true you know things arent good when the boobies dont work:(
Tracey, Good to hear Ethan is more settled now - Elysha still wont sleep much during the day just catnaps ...
Hope everyone is well:)
Hello everyone!
Well Eden is much more settled today, yay!
To all girls whose bubs have started waking again - firstly, I'm here for ya! It must be difficult. I'm very lucky in that I've been having full night sleeps for the last 3 months. These are the things that have worked for Eden.
Firstly, when the bubs wake up do they really need a feed? Is it becasue they are hungry or just unsettled? The first thing I always tried was settling Eden back to sleep and found it worked 90% of the time.
Secondly, I would try feeding bubs more often during the day. If Eden ever reversed her night sleep trend (usually always at growth spurt time) I'd go back to more day feeds. eg. If she was feeding roughly every 3.5 hours and waking in the middle of the night I'd take her back to 3 hourly during the day and found that because she was more full, she'd sleep through again.
Hope this helps.
Love,
Nan. xx
Hi Everyone,
Nan - Good to hear Eden's more settled now:)
Elysha on Sat night was waking nearly every hour  not fun at all - Shes getting more settled again now though I think the solids may be helping. She doesnt really have much but at least now my boobs are getting a little bit more of a break lol With her waking it does seem that shes hungry as she will not settle back by herself usually (i usually do wait for her to get more "vocal" before I get her out of the cot though and sometimes she will drift off back to sleep)
EJs starting to put on the weight again :smiliedance: 6.58kg today (14lb 8).
She seems to really like the more solid food now opens her mouth up wide for it (which amazed her grandmother that she did that). After a week on rice and apples or pears (about 1-2 teaspoons of that a day after the afternoon feed) i tried her on some 4-6mth heinz chicken and sweetcorn - she prefers that than the rice though the most she would have once a day would be a teaspoon if that.
A question on the gels - i notice on the bottles they say 6mth plus but they seem quite thin just wondering are they ok at 4 and a 1/2 months?
Hope everyone and bubs are well:)

Hello November Mums!
I am so looking forward to starting Ben on solids! :chef: I love hearing all your experiences - I can be vicarious for the time being! I'm going to hang out for as long as possible because DH has had food allergies and I want to try to avoid them with Ben.
We got back from Tassie on Monday afternoon - poor little Ben was beside himself! Five days of being poked and prodded by (loving) relatives, and he had HAD ENOUGH! He was exhausted! (and so was I!) Now he's in withdrawal because he doesn't have at least 4 people entertaining him! Oh boy!
Tracey - please tell us what terrible two year olds do! I need to prepare myself! :)
Nan - I am still very attached to 'Bella' - its like changing your name when you get married - hard to leave your old name behind!!! (Talk about melodramatic :o )
Take care everyone,
Hi all !!
Hope everyone and their bubs are well and happy :hugs:
Cathyn - with Elysha waking so much have you thought that she may be teething? Anytime now she could start, E has started... he chomps down on your finger so hard if you place it in his mouth, he is chewing on everything !! So we give him a little bonjela on his gums if we cant fix his crying with anything else. Also panadol occasionally. Glad to hear she is taking the food so well too :D
We have just started E on solids, only rice cereal with formula, he is not thrilled as yet but will get used to it.. We wont start anything else for at least another month then some fruits and vegies and when he is about 7 months i will introduce meats.
Understandable to hold off on solids if your family have allergies like you say Claire (Bella !!).
Poor Ben being "hassled" by all his family in Tas !! He must be exhausted!! How did he go with the travel?
Oh and in regards to what the two year olds do.. just watch Samuel at the next Melb meet !! You'll soon get the idea :devil6:
Nan - it sounds like Eden is a lovely well settled bubba, glad to hear she is better after her shots. E has his next week.
Aspensmum - E sleeps through at night and has for ages so i dont have night troubles... (it seems nothing can disturb his night sleep although i keep waiting for that to change) BUT his day sleeps have been awful lately, hardly any at all and if he did they last 20 mins tops..anyway after trying lots of different things i decided it was food and i now give him 2 formula feeds a day and then the rest breast, he has been 100% better since then... poor kid must have been starving!
funnily enough the same age with Samuel i had to start substituting with formula so i think my supply doesnt meet my big boys needs by about 4 months old...iykwim?
Anyway hi to everyone and hugs all around

Hi everyone,
Haven't been around lately, been busy with Ashleigh. We had to go and see a orthopaedic specialist at Westmead a few weeks ago about her foot. Instead of having postional club foot, she has mild congenital club foot and now she has to wear boots with a bar between them full time for the next three months and then after that she has to wear them at night until she is four years of age. We have been wearing them for a fortnight when a snag hit. She developed a blister on her bad foot, so Ashleigh is now back in plaster until we see the physio down at Westmead next Monday. Ashleigh hates them and tries to get out of the boots and thats why she has the blister. Physio down at Westmead calls her Miss Houdini. LOL. The only problem with the bars is that when she moves her legs and hits you with them it hurts. My legs are covered in bruises because of it.
Regarding solids, Ashleigh loves the rice cereal, I put gel in it to give the extra flavour. Regarding the gel and the six months, this has only been recently done. I have four other kids and all of them had the gels from four months and it did not harm them. It was four months with my other kids.
Regarding sleeping, Ashleigh has been waking at 2.30am again for another feed, but I think that is because she has been in pain with her foot, and I think I fed her to comfort her more than anything, this might happen until she gets used to the boots and bar.
Regarding teething, I think Ashleigh is teething as well, She seems to want to shove everything in her mouth.

Hi Everyone
I havent posted in this thread for a very very long time. I thought I better come and say hi and see how everyones bubs is doing.
My DS is now 4 months 1 week old and weighs 6.1kg (he was only 1.9kg when he was born so he has put on heaps of weight). Would like to know how much everyone elses bubs weigh so can see if my DS is catching up.
He had his 4 months shots last week and was completely fine with them. Was not upset or unsettled any more than usual.
I tried to wean him about a month ago but then he stopped pooing. He went 12 days without doing a poo so I stopped the formula but the poo still came out soft so I figured thats how he must poo. So I have just started him on 1 bottle of formula a day now.
I was giving my DS solids here and there but now starting him on formula I didnt want to give him to many things at once so I will wait a few more weeks until he is settled on the formula before I start with the rice cereal again.
My DS is sleeping so much better now as well. During the day he used to have little catnaps (anything from 30 mins to 90 mins) but now is sleeping a whole lot better. At night he usually goes down at 8pm and sleeps till 1 am, then last week he was sleeping to 2am and last night he slept to 4am.
Anyway time to hang out some washing so chat again soon

Hello November moms,
It's pretty cool reading how other November babies are doing. I've been so busy just learning the ropes of juggling babies, toddlers, house, cooking, etc. I haven't had a chance to investigate other babies born at the same time.
Pierenii just turned 4 months at the end of November and topped 7.5kg recently and a compact 62cm. She's been an active, wriggly baby for a long, long time and hasn't stopped. Now her mouth and voice are getting "wriggly" as well. She's definitely trying to communicate(focussed babbling) when I step away for a few seconds or no one is around within her eyeline, or is getting bored with her current toy. I'm amazed I can tell the difference between "tired" and "bored". If someone had told me there was a difference between the two when she was first born, I would have been skeptical. But months of listening, and now I can tell. Hah!
She's been bottle fed now for about a month after three months of breast milk from mom before mom went back to work. Poos are still dark green, but not too big. I've got her on 4x180ml bottles and she's still gaining weight. The formula can says 5 feeds, but I'm getting confident that she's happy with four, not upset or hungry and still growing nicely.
It really helps with sleeping because I can set the last feed of the day around 9pm and she's sleeping right through to 7 or sometimes even 8am. :smiliedance:
The big project now is teaching her how to hold her own bottle. Her big sister started getting the hang of it at around 4 months. That would be soooo good.
Hope your kids are all doing well.
Jireh
Hi Everyone and welcome quintets & Pierenii to this thread:)
Tracey, Ive been thinking for a while the EJ could be teething as she had all the signs - yesterday she was crying occasionly while feeding so i rubbed some bonjella on her bottom gum and she was a different baby afterwards :) Shes been chewing on her fingers heaps in the last week also (not sucking) and yesterday was rubbing her bottom gum with her fingers she had her mouth open while doing this so she could get right onto the gum...
Claire (Bella) good to hear you had a good time in Tassie not good Ben was exhausted though from all the prodding - EJ gets that at her grandparents parties when all that side of her family are there lol
Michelle, Thanks about the gel info. Not good about Ashleigh's foot but hope will start getting a lot better now they know exactly what it is. Hope the braces will work well now not good about the blister though.
MLN - EJ was 6.58kg last Tues am hopping for another 100g+ gain this week and she'd be about 65-66cm now I'd say.
EJ still detests her rice cereal but have found she seems to like vegetables which was good actually as i had to go to hospital for a few hours on Wed night (dehydration from gastro which i gather breastfeeding also didnt help the fluid levels) and my BF actually had something to give her to eat. Im not impressed about getting carrot stains out of clothes/bibs though LOL
Anyway hope everyone and their babies are well :)
:smiliedance: Sienna can roll over :smiliedance: She can roll from her back to her tummy without a problem, but then she's stuck and cries til someone puts her on her back again.
Not much else to tell...she has just recovered from a virus that gave her vomiting for 24hrs then diarrea for 11 days. She was due for her 4mth needles the day after she got sick so we have put them off til we are sure she is well...so this week we should be able to get them done.
Sienna is chewing/sucking on her hands all the time...DS did this from about 3mths old and we thought he was teething but the teeth just didn't appear, not til he was 17mths old, he also stopped chewing after a few mths. I hope Sienna doesn't have painful teething like some kids do :fingerscrossed:
quintets - Sienna also only has 4 x 180mls of formula a day. She started waking thru the night for a few nights so I started offering her 240mls but she only has about 10-20mls extra and then sleept the night again. Now she is back to 180mls before bed...I guess they'll have more when they are ready.
So..is Sienna the last one to roll over? It seems like everyone I talk to lately with bubs around the same age they are already rolling...even my friend with a bub 6weeks younger.

Pierenii is not rolling just yet, but she's trying her darndest. I'm worried about the flat spot on the left side of her head from all her efforts to roll. She loves arching her back a bit over to the left. I'm not sure if it's a tendency, or some kind of discomfort she's trying to alleviate. Her head position changes during sleep so I'm pretty sure it's all the POWER arching she's doing. She's much, much stronger than our first child. Her sister didn't roll until nine months!
Hi Cathyn. Thanks for the welcome.
@cwsmum Rolling, eh?? Yahoo. Interesting notes about feeding. Peta(nickname) started crying at 3 hours alot when she was two months so I started smaller feeds more often. It worked for a bit but I started sliding out to 4 hourly feeds after just a few days. That cycle seems to work the best.
I've learned that if I vary the time between feeds by more than 30 minutes, it throws her off and she gets really wrangy. She used to inhale the bottle very quickly and polish it off in 20-2 minutes. Now it's taking longer because she's getting distracted(too easily) after 120-150ml and I've got to reheat the milk and constantly re-offer the bottle. We get there eventually, but she's slowing down. I suspect the growth and weight gain is start to taper off a bit too.
We just bought a box of Farex. It's going to start soon. Maybe later this month.
@Michelle Hope your Ashleigh responds quickly to the boots and bar.
Cheers

Hi everyone,
Tracey - I think I have the same 4 month supply problem as you - Ben's weight gain is tapering off :( . I can't decide what to do yet - I'm not ready to wean, and I don't want to start solids because of the allergy prob ... the CHN says there is time to think about it, he's not starving yet!
Jireh, Ben sounds like he is doing much the same as Pierenii! He'll stop feeding at the drop of a hat, then want to keep feeding straight away, then stop again! I'm revisiting the newborn stage in regards to feeding time! Anything will distract him!
cwsmum - congrats on Sienna rolling! Ben's only just started, too. He keeps doing the roll .. SPLAT ... roll ... SPLAT thing! Haha! It looks painful, but he seems to be enjoying himself!
Cathyn - hope you're feeling better now. I had the dreaded gastro too last week and I've really only started feeling better today - the BF can really take it out of you when you're sick.
How about this cold weather (in Melbs?) I am SO slow with those Bonds Wondersuits!! :D It takes me HOURS to do them up!! I keep thinking I have the knack of it, and get over confident ... then I realise all the buttons are done up the wrong way!!! Ha ha! Slowly does it!!
I am SO slow with those Bonds Wondersuits!! It takes me HOURS to do them up!! I keep thinking I have the knack of it, and get over confident ... then I realise all the buttons are done up the wrong way!!! Ha ha! Slowly does it!!
LOL LOL I am a whizz with these things !! When Samuel was born it was going into winter so everytime i changed him, the cold air would hit and *BANG* he would wee everywhere LOL so i was changing them alot hehe, i got very good and very fast, its been different with E being the warmer weather (thank goodness) although it is getting awfully cold now, today was FREEZING !!
also Claire (Bella... ) I wouldnt worry about Bens feeding yet until he starts telling you he needs more... E would just cry and cry and not sleep etc.. it made the decision to wean a bit easier as he was clearly hungry, he still has two boob feeds a day though.
Michele - I hope Ashleigh is going well
Cathyn - sounds like Elysha is loving her solids that great news :) Also seems she may be teething.... hmmmm wonder which november bub will bust their first toothy peg ???
MLN - great weight gain for your DS :smiliedance:
Cwsmum - great news that Sienna is rolling... see, you didnt have to worry after all... Ethan is still not rolling but is trying very, very hard, he gets so far over and then his arm gets in the way hehehehee
Welcome quintets, look forward to chatting more about your bubs :D

Well how is everyone???Yes I know I've been very slack again!!
We leave for Tassie in exactly 14.5 hrs:smiliedance: Ha ha hmmm I should be packing but thought I'd pop in and say g'day since I won't have a chance for the next 12 days!I'm getting a bit worried we don't have enough warm clothes! It's 34 degrees here atm and I just checked Launcestons weather and it's 11  Plus of course I have started to get the flu!AAARGH!
These are definitely the times I wish I was still breast feeding ha ha.I have to find somewhere to store bottles and sterilizers and formula AARGH ha ha!The smallest person in our house needs the most stuff!
I just got Cody's first report card AAAWWWW, and it is amazing!LOL he's the teacher's pet, so I didn't really expect a bad one!
Ummm not much else happening.......I hope everyone is going great. To all you Melbournites don't forget I'll be waving to you all next Friday at around 2:30pm;)
Anyway I'd better get going, have to keep packing!
Love to you all
Hi Everyone,
CWSmum, EJs finally got the roll over going i think though hasnt done it more than once or twice cause she gets her arm stuck lol
Claire (Bella), Wondersuits ARGH i call them 'wonder how you get them done up suits' i tried one once and then i have to say she wore other body suits after that lol The weather is getting cold though you wouldnt think only a week or so ago we had high 30s
Tracey, Im pretty sure now that EJs teething shes getting really lumpy on the top and i felt a rough spot on the bottom the other day like a tooth edge and they seem to be really hurting her. Shes had an ear infection the last week also and i think that the teething isnt helping that at all :(
Nara, Hope you have a great time in Tassie and that your flu eased up not good getting sick on a holiday... Great that cody got a good report :smiliedance:
Quintets - Ej arches her back to her right usually when she has alot of wind, I noticed recently she arches to her left though when has gas in her stomach and needs a burp.
Well EJs sitting up unsupported (not for long though cause she tends to go backwards when straighens up too fast) but tends to lean forward a lot which is fine cause shes usually playing with something on the ground. Time flies doesnt it I realised a couple of days ago that she'll be 5 months on the 15th :yelclap:
Hope everyone and bubs are well - Hope you're all keeping warm in Melbourne (and everywhere else thats its cold now lol)
heya! my daughter was born november 2nd 05 and my oldest was born november 5th 03, and my hubby to be was born nov 4th 82 haha. its gonna be an expensive few days when the girls get older!! i've told my partner we'll have to aim for the 3rd next time around! :D
so how is everyone? and your babies? mine are great! anyone got bub on solids yet? i've been trying for a few weeks now but my daughter just isn't interested at all, she pretty much refuses everything except the breast, she wont even have breast milk from a bottle.. which is exactly the same as my 2yr old was, although she ate solids from 4months! she was on three meals a day as well as snacks by 6months! haha. i cant wait to hear from everyone. what a great idea to have a birth month thread!!:smiliedance:
Hi there Shezi,
You will have a busy time in Novemebr with all the birthdays - Maybe one big party - it would be interesting of you have another baby on the 3rd LOL
EJs been trying solids doesnt like cereal but likes fruit and vegetables and the heinz sweetcorn and chicken so far though she wouldnt have much at all really just a bit after a feed to fill her a little more.
It is a great idea having a birth month thread its great seeing how others babies are going and if they are going through the same things:)
Just saw this thread and thought i'd join in too. My DS was born on the 4th of Nov, he has just past 5 months old and is doing quite well. He has cut two bottom teeth which is really cute, he is being mostly breastfed but will have a bottle of formula at night aswell as just started him on solids. He is doing great. He rolls over heaps and heaps and we gotta watch where we walk when we put him on the ground. Also, just recently he has being trying to crawl. He babbles all the time and i swear he says, oh yeah! And other cute things! :D He is amazing. How are all the other nov bubs doing??
Hi everyone,
its great to read how everyones bubs are doing. Senna will only roll from Front to back (she has been since she was 13 weeks) no movement at all from back to front. last night while on tummy she lifted her bottom up and moved legs as to crawl but not pushing her chest off the ground looked very strange but she managed to get moving about 30 cms in a forward direction:eek: have tried her on farex she doesn't like it at all and still just prefers the booby no complaints here.

Hi everyone,
Its cool to see new faces on our thread - go November Mums! (and Dads!)
Shezi - I have a similar November issue! My friends b'day on the 21st, SIL on 23rd, Dad and DS on 24th and SIL's bub due the same time as well!! Heaven knows what we'll do as we're all in different cities! (Dad recons he gets the choice of cake until Ben is 2!)
proudmumma - I'm trying to start Ben on a comp feed at night, but I'm not having much luck - he just smiles as the formula runs down his face!! Any hints? :)
Ben's also decided that 4am or 5am is a really good time to start the day! :( I am going crazy very quickly! I stand there trying to settle him in the pitch black while he lies and gurgles and giggles!! (How could I be angry?!) I think sociable hours start at 6am when Sunrise starts!! Oh - and what happened to Rags at 9am?? I don't like the Fairies!! (Do I take TV too seriously??)
Hi Everyone,
Proudmamma - Ej says a few words also like hello (sounds more like ah oh) good girl (goo grl), look, yeah and hungry (this last one said with fingers in mouth) and OK - her grandmother didnt believe she said OK until she said it too her one day LOL - Id worry i was hearing things but others have heard them also sometimes also
Bella, Raggs was a great show - if you go to the website (www.raggs.com.au) you can download all the songs lol (on the play icon right click and save target as lol). The faries was on actually before they put on raggs - i liked it then but now just isnt as good i reckon lol Ejs been waking earlier also the only way sometimes to get her to sleep past 5 is to put her in bed with me (hmm maybe the wrong idea lol)
Ejs trying to stand more now and can put quite a bit of weight on her legs which is great - shes finally over her ear infection also but teething is making her a little miserable :(
Anyway hope everyone and their bubs are well:)

Thanks Cathyn - thank heavens, I can get my Raggs fix lol! I'm trying to convert Ben, too!
I actually put Ben in my bed this morning at 5am, and it was WONDERFUL - SLEEP AT LAST!!! I agree, though - I hate to think what bad habits this could unearth!! :devil6:
I do the same with Senna, if she wakes before 6 its straight into bed with me for a couple of hours, i can't function in the dark.
Hi Everyone
I think Elysha's getting to used to sleeping in my bed sometimes now and gets upset if i put her back in her cot once she's been in the bed - oops LOL
Went and weighed her today and shes now 6.705kg (14lb 14oz) and since no one was there for an appointment I asked the CHN to measure her and she's now 66.5cm - Looks like she'll be out of 00 way before the end of Winter ARGH so will have to get more clothes (bodysuits mainly only I think luckily as her seperates will last longer).
Shes getting better at sitting unsupported now also which is great though topples over a bit LOL
Anyway hope everyone and their bubs are well:)
PS Claire (Bella), hope you're enjoying listening to the Raggs songs - I like Crazy Critter Party the best LOL
HI all
Just a quick pop in, i hope all are well.
Welcome to Shezi and Proudmumma, hope to chat to you more.
We are all sick at the moment. Poor E has a terribly sore throat and cough  Samuel has a cold also and mine started yesterday so we are a bunch of grumps at the moment.
Ethan has also started waking at about 5:30amish, i just listen to him goo and gaa and then whinge and eventually he falls back to sleep, its amazing how much more i can bear to listen too with E compared to when Samuel was little, with Samuel i always got up and settled him... hehe poor second children...
Claire just keep persevering with Ben, he will eventually get the bottle thing.
I hope it helps you get more sleep once he starts taking it.
Cathyn/ Claire - Raggs !!! are you for real !!! :barf: oh i find it sooooo annoying, you guys have to get onto ABC kids !! ;) hehe (oh but the fairies is even worse !!!!)
Cathyn - E has liked standing since he was only a few weeks old, he is sooooo strong on his legs and would stand all day if i held him hehe he is also getting better at sitting up but i dont really encourage that just yet. DH props him up with all pillows around him and i say "if hes gonna fall he's not ready!!" hehe
E will also be out of 00 soon, already i have started buying some 0's and some of his 0's fit *yikes* It sounds as though Elysha is growing really well as are all other bubs too
Nara - i waved !! Did you see me ???? hehe
Anyway off to tend to my grumpy family..Hugs to all

Pawsup everyone!! :D
Cathyn - I adore the Raggs website - my husband thinks I've lost it! AND now I have some songs to sing to Ben (I can never remember the words to any others!) Tracey - is ABC Kids pay TV or on normal ABC? You really should give Raggs a second chance! (This is the joy of the internet - you can't give me a dead arm online :D )
I had the weirdest day today - I was sure it was Wednesday and it wasn't until hubby got home that I realised that it is THURSDAY and it is Good Friday tomorrow and I hadn't bought any hot cross buns for anyone! I was nearly in tears! I'm still in shock - I had already planned what I was going to do on 'Thursday'!
I have found with Ben that he is in 0 size for anything Bonds all-in-one, 00 for everything else, and still fits into a few 000 separates. I make the mistake of buying Pumpkin Patch jumpers on 0 size for winter because the sizes equated to his age, but they are going to be WAY TOO HUGE as PP sizes are quite generous. Maybe they need a good going over in the dryer!
Anyway, enough from me! Happy Easter everyone ;)

LOL Claire !! You have lost it
ABC kids is free to air and alot of its suited to slightly older kids but wait till Ben is older and starts telling you what he wants to watch or not !! Samuel wakes up saying "widdles, widdles" or "hiya fife" LOL he doesnt like Raggs at all (phew ;) )
He also like Poobah (which sucks) and playschool :) But if i try to watch Sunrise ooooooohhhhheeeeee watch out for the tanty !!
I'll save the dead arm for the next meet, that is providing you remember what day of the week its on hehehehehehe ;)

hello all just found this thread my little girl was born 27th november she is growing up way too fast.:crying:
it was great to hear about how all your bubs around the same age are going
she has been great though excellent sleeper:sleeping: , rolling everywhere, just starting to teeth:eek: alwys babbling:ecomcity:
hope to keep hearing how all your bubs are going
Hi Everyone, Paws-Up  Claire and Welcome Kyanna's mum :smiliedance:
Tracey, EJ loves the Wiggles (has 3 dvds, a video, a dorothy toy and a glitter book of them) lol though she doesnt seem to watch high 5 if its on. I tried having the TV on ABC after Raggs (You should give it another chance if it comes back on lol I love the bit where the cat interviews the kids lol) but she didnt really get into the shows apart from some show called Tiddlywinks or somthing and the show with the hands as creatures lol) She does though love Sunrise and will lie glued to it the whole time not sure why but she loves news shows.
Kyannas mum Its true they do grow up so fast - Ejs a real babbler also with a few normal words mixed it though recently she's worked out (again this is the 2nd time) how to scream and i can tell you once she wakes up its VERY hard to sleep lol
Nara, Hope you had a great timein Tassie I waved also :)
Claire, I know what you mean on loosing track sometimes I had a day like that a week ago that i couldnt remeber what day it was an thought a day later - even went to put out the bins until i realised it was the wrong day LOL
EJ's started to get to that stage where no one but me or daddy (and that doesnt work sometimes) can hold her - her grandmother is feeling a little put out currently it took about 4 attempts today for her to sit on her knee (facing away from her)
Anyway hope all and bubs are well:)
oh i know what you mean Senna has become sooo clingy to me its embarressing as she grizzles when anyone else picks her up and just looks around for me:o
Mel, Im finding with Elysha that if you give her something to play with while shes sitting on a knee she's ok - my brother came over late this afternoon and she started to get a little grizzy but as soon as he gave her his watch to play with she was fine LOL Earlier with grandma (after numerous attempts) it was a ball and then she was happy - i think it distracts her from whos holding her
Wow! IT's been ages since I stopped by the old Novmber mums thread! I have just had THE BEST time reading back over everyone's posts.
Welcome to the new mums and dads on here. Hope to here from you more often! (It would help if I came on here more often!! Duh!)
RAGS!!!! YAY!!! I'm a HUGE (and I mean huge) Rags fan, too! I was soooooooo disappointed when I turned on the tellie to see the fairies were back Can't stand that show. My fave Rags song is Tutti-Fruiti!! So catchy - although once it is in your head that kinda sucks!
I feel so "out of it" on here now. Everyone's bubbas are on solids and getting teeth and rolling over and Eden is just not doing anything!! (Okay, slight exagguration!) Oh, well. Doesn't bother me. She can roll onto her side and is trying to go all the way over, but isn't quite there yet. I think it partly has to do with the fact that she is still so tiny. (Still not 6 kgs. and is in 000 clothes!) I do have to take some of the flack for that, only being 5'2" myself!! She is VERY healthy, though. She still hasn't been sick yet, no nappy rashes, nothing - and she talks up a storm. By jove can the girlie chat!! I've got a definite social butterfly on my hands. :ecomcity:
Shezi - we have the same birthday thing as you! Eden was born the day after my birthday, so this year I'm wondering how I'll go with a 1st and a 30th!! Any ideas anyone??
Nara & Bella - hope Tassie was wonderful. I have such fond memories of our holiday there. Aaaaahhhh life without kids! Anyone remember it??
Eden is trying so hard to "write something" so here goes:
p mmmmmm jb cfdx xh uh bb fbbb ngbbgggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg7bbbbbbbbbbbbbbb bbbbbbbb hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhnn mh ccc hn cvvv fc f
Lovely!!
Anyway, must go. We're off to my parents' place for tea! Yay, no cooking tonight!!
Love to you all and your amazing little treasures.
Love,
Nan. xx

Hi everyone,
Nan - I love Tutti Frutti too! I caught my hubby singing the Paws-up song when he was making a cuppa! CAUGHT!! Its contagious! Nan - don't worry about Eden not plowing through the milestones, Ben's not doing much either - he's a champion dribbler, though!
Renee, (welcome by the way! :) ) our babies do grow up so fast - one minute I wish Ben was old enough to talk and play, the next I'm getting emotional thinking he's only going to be little like this for such a small amount of time!! ;) I hate putting away clothes he's grown out of!
Tracey - Wiggles is my saviour! A friend gave us all their Wiggles videos because they'd bought a hard disc recorder (whatever that is!! :D ) and I plop Ben in front of it while I'm getting ready to go out and it works a treat! (I turn it up really loud to get the neighbours back from hearing Little Mermaid full blast on repeat at the weekends!!).
We bought Ben a highchair on the weekend - he can sit in it already as it has a reclining setting - yay. Even though he's not eating yet, its a GODSEND when I'm doing stuff in the kitchen! I can now eat lunch before 3pm!! Yay!! I love it!
Enough from me! Take care everyone,
pinkandblue

Hi Everyone
I stopped breastfeeding my DS on saturday and now all I seem to be doing is boiling water and washing bottles (I'm not sterilising this time around). He is having 6-8 bottles a day plus rice cereal for breakfast and pears in the afternoon. I was a bit worried about him getting constipated on the formula but he has been fine.
Bella28, I also put my DS in his highchair and wheel him around the house. I've had my highchair out for a while now and it is a godsend. I have the reclining one too.
Nan, I thought I had the smallest baby but I guess not. My DS was born 1.9kg and now he is about 6.5kg. We are still is 000 and some 00 aswell. But my DS is not rolling over yet either. A few times he has rolled from his stomach to his back but he wont roll from his back to his stomach. He doesnt have any teeth yet either, just alot of dribble. Thank god for those plastic backed bibs otherwise he would be getting changed every 5 minutes.
Samsmum04, I have to agree with you about letting the second child cry. With my DD I jumped as soon as she made a noise but with my DS I will let him cry a bit before I go get him.
Chat again soon

Hi All! Just thought Id introduce me and mine... Im a first time mum to Jonah, born 17/11/05. Who was I before a mum! I absolutley love it! I used to hate whenever people referred to things about their kids or having children and they'd say - you'll know/understand when you have kids - well I get why they said it now!!!
Anyway... someof you have mentioned about getting a highchair now. I have been looking around and really want an Angelico highchair by Swallow at Babyco. I cant afford a new one though, so am looking to purchase one second hand. So if any of you know where I can do this, please let me know!
I recently got a "Entertainer" which is similar to some of the walkers but it is stationary they just sit and play. It is fantasitc! Jonah loved it straight away. Started playing with the little toys on it. I dont think he would have even realised if I had left the room for at least half an hour!! Its great though, cause he was starting to get bored of just laying down all the time! The good thing is though, once he's too big to sit in it, the top attaches to the base and becomes a figure 8 track thing for him to play with.
Anyway, just thought Id say hi! If anyone knows where I could pick up a cheaper Angelico High Chair, please let me know!
Good to meet you all :)
Hi Sarah Welcome and You could check the trading post http://www.trading-post.com.au or ebay for that chair in your area maybe? Im getting one off a friend of mine next week which is great as EJs having some solids now so is really needed:)
I want to get one of the little Wigles big red car sorta cars which is a rocker 1st up it has toys on it also I'm sure EJ would love it:)
Anyway hope everyone is well - Cant chat too much at pres causes EJ's screaming in happiness (joy not lol) so makes it a little hard to concentrate
Hope everyone and bubs are well:)
Thanks for the welcome and suggestions. Im regularily checking the trading post and ebay. There was one on ebay, but it still went for $100 and its 12mnths old! I cant warrant that when its 170 brand new! Dont know, maybe Im being too cheap! :o
Hope the car is good... its amazing how easily we can fill up our house with all the stuff for the kiddlewinks!!
Oh well, will keep looking!

Hello Everyone!!! And a major special welcome to all the new Nov. mums!!Yay!!!!
Well we are home, hmm been home a few days but needed to catch up on washing:mad: Ha ha so how is everyone??And WHAT is rags...........hmmm I think I'm missing something!!
Wow Tasmania is just GORGEOUS!!I loved every second of it! Ha ha even a Taswegian past-time called ferreting???Lol what a laugh!Hmm for people (like myself) who don't know what it is, they put this huge net up,then put ferrets into rabbit holes and the rabbits run out into the net and we (yes we)catch them!!
We didn't find any snow and we were leaving in 2 days so we decided to drive to Mount Wellington which was 3 hours away to play in it!! SO worth it!Ha ha everyone we spoke to thought we were mad!Apparently Tasmanians don't do that:o I thought it was great we could drive to the opposite side of Tassie in 3 hrs!!LOL
Anyway enough of my rambling! Ellie's going great, she only started eating 3 days ago, ha ha but she's making up for it!She eats over half a jar of custard at lunch then about the same amount of vegies for tea!!
Tracey and Cathy- Ha ha I saw you guys waving!!!
Nan- OOOHHH yes I sorta kinda remember pre-kid days!Hmmm at times I think I would like to go back there ha ha just for 24 hrs tho!
Sarahlouise- I don't think your being cheap at all!No way I'd pay $100 for something 12 months old if the new ones are $170.Oh and Hello!!Haha
Mel2878 and Cathy-Ellie is doing the same thing! She doesn't let anyone else pick her up or even talk to her sometimes......It can be very draining.Although she's still ok with Dad most of the time, Phew!
Anyway I had better get going,
Talk to u all soon I hope!
Hi
Thought I'd pop in here and say hello for a change...I've been reading everyones posts but never seem to have time to post myself :)
I kinda wish she wasn't so friendly sometimes tho, she will let almost anyone hold her  She only seems to cry if the person holding her smells like smoke...DH smokes, he's the only smoker that can hold her, which annoys the inlaws heaps coz they both smoke and Sienna wont go near them :smiliedance: Thats perfectly fine with me tho.
sarahlouise Hi and welcome to our little group...well, maybe not so little anymore, we seem to have a new person join us every time I come here :) Your bub was born on the same day as mine.
Oh poop! There's a bubba crying...oh well, maybe next time ......
Hello peoples!
Nara - glad you had so much fun! Isn't it amazing how it can be quite fine weather at the base of Mt. Wellington, then snowing and absolutely freezing at the summit? We made sure we had a snowball fight when we were up there!! The drive up to the top is beautiful isn't it? BTW, Rags is a kids show that used to be on at 9am, with people who dressed in dog costumes!! Classic!
I forgot to say before to everyone whose baby is getting a bit picky with other people holding them etc that it is perfectly normal! Eden is doing it, too, but it is normal social/emotional development for infants to go through this stage somewhere from 4-8 months. They get over it eventually.
Welcome sarahlousie - good luck with the highchair. I've decided to get a second hand one from a local shop here in Adelaide. I'm getting a second hand port-a-cot, too. They are both in good condition and reasonably priced, so I thought I may as well.
Natalie - I can't believe I didn't think of the plastic backed bibs! :banghead: I have heaps of them and I've just been using the normal ones and the drool goes through! Silly me. Oh well. Plastic backed ones as of tomorrow!! Thanks for the reminder.
If I love bubhub for nothing else (which I don't!!) it would be all the helpful hints you get on here.
Anyway, Eden went to sleep early tonight so I'm off to spend the evening with my DH! Yay!
Bye for now.
Love,
Nan. xx
Hi all hows things going ?
I havnt posted for a while but i have been reading all your posts, its always great to hear how you and your bubs are going :D
Welcome to Sarahlouise :hugs:
Ethan is doing great. He is still not rolling, he gets onto his side, i keep saying its going to happen anyday but have been saying that for weeks now LOL i am in no hurry anyway he'll do it when he is ready!!
Nan, this goes against your theory of Eden not rolling yet.... you said you think its due to her being so tiny and Ethan is far from tiny !! maybe its the "middle sized" bubs that roll first  Oh and i have quite the chatter box on my hands too !!
We have started solids full on now and he LOVES his vegies (yay) it took a few days for him to accept the solid food but is going along great guns now.
Oh and the hignchairs ! Very handy item if you can get the recline back ones, i had one from Samuel so we have been using it for ages with Ethan.
Nara - Glad you had such a great holiday ! We are hoping to go to Tas soon....
hmmmm clingy babys.... not Ethan, he'll go to anyone, like Sienna Cwsmum !! He is sooooo social its funny, every sunday he babbles so loudly through our church services it can get quite embarassing! Maybe he'll be a preacher one day ????
MLN- i know what you mean about cleaning and sterilising !! It never ends !! I am still doing 2 boob feeds a day but i can tell they are not cutting it anymore... how did your boobs go when you stopped b/f ?
Anyway i really hope you are all going well and look forward to hearing the next installments from you
Hi
I need some help...Sienna has almost grown too big for the bassinett so I need to buy a mattress for the cot. Normally this would be easy, just go buy one, but she has decided that if she has room to roll over and sleep on her tummy then thats what she will do.
So, my question is, what type of mattress do you have in the cot? I know foam ones are pretty cheap, but do you think Siennas face would sink into it while she's sleeping?
I have found her a few times asleep with her face into the mattress  she has been sleeping in the portacot thru the day so it's not really an issue there and she can't roll over in the bassinet, but I wouldn't like to find her asleep like that with her face covered by the mattress. Any ideas?
oh its a scary thing when they start rolling in their cot !!
I would go for a good innerspring cot mattress, something nice and firm that her face wont sink into it, this is what we got for Ethan and they werent too expensive, around $90.
And you were worried about her not rolling !! hehe
lol I know...she might have rolled a couple of weeks earlier, but she was really sick for 12days, then the first day she didn't have diarrea she started rolling...and now you just can't stop her. DH left the door to downstairs open today and she almost rolled all the way to them, luckily I looked where she was before she got too close
Where did you get a innerspring mattress for $90 Tracey? All the ones I've seen have been over $110.
LOL to the rolling !! I am still waiting for Ethan to start but not rushing him... i like that i know he's still where i left him :D hehe
The mattress was from Baby Bunting ... Are you in Melbourne?
Hi there! I might just throw my two bob in re the rolling and mattress bit... With the mattreses you can get a stronger foam one or an inner spring one... Although I got an inner spring, I felt both sorts, and they are a much of a muchness! With baby being so light anyway, if its the good quality foam ones (Ive forgotten the name they give them!) They are fairly similar to the innerspring. The reason I went with the innerspring is that where I got it from I talked them into giving it for the same price! If you go to baby bunting and ask to see the mattreses that way you can compare the two... but I find that they will only give a 10% discount and only if it isnt on special, if your around Dandenong in Melb theres a shop called "Hush.A.Bye" (158 Cheltenham Road) and although he has fairly expensive items, I brought a mattress and protector and foam for change table and a few other small bits and I found that because it was privately owned he was really good and gave me a great discount on every item! So even if your not in that area I found going to the privately owned shops, they are willing to give a discount... eps if youve done your price checks and been to place like baby bunting first... but one the same token... sometime they just cant beat the bigger guys deals... Ibrought my cot and change table from baby bunting!! lol
I cant beleive bubs is still fitting in a bassinet! My little man grew out of it ages ago... but then, he has alway been a big mover! But he loves his cot now... He often is doing 90/180 & 360 degree turns in it! But as far a rolling over and sleeping on their tums.. as long as they are competant in rolling back over again, or moving their head... its not such a concern anymore, cause if they are having trouble breathing the can just move their heads. So dont worry too much... but definately make sure she isnt sinking into the mattress!
K. well Ive blabbed enough... I thought there was something else I was goiing to say, but got no idea what.. and while my boy is asleep, I had better stop wasting my time and get some work done!!! (I would much more prefer to have a slepp.. but thems the breaks I suppose!!
Have fun

Hi Everyone,
I really miss having the time to read all the posts and chat, but life just seems so hectic now that I have two children. When my DS was born, I thought that life was perfect and I couldn't understand why Mothers complained about the 'hard work', but now that I have two, I really struggle and I can't understand why. Perhaps it has to do with the age gap between children. My DS has just turned 3yo and I waste so much time trying to get him to do what I want without a tantrum. Despite this, I still can't get it out of my head that I want one more. Is anyone thinking about having another or pregnant again all ready?
Niamh still only weighs 5 kg and I am in trouble with the clinic nurse, who says that if she doesn't gain more weight this month, she is referring me to Riverton(same as Tressilian). I can't see how I can make her feed anymore than what she wants to. I was also told to sup feed her, but I can't get her to take a bottle, so I am just feeding her as much as possible and hoping for the best. I don't want to go to Riverton as control crying techniques are not for me. I bought Tizzie Hall's book, but am not having much success. I can't get her to self settle, because she rolls over and gets upset, which makes it much worse. I have to hold her so that she can't roll until she falls asleep. I hope she grows out of it soon. I hear that Scorpio babies like to rule the house. Does anyone know about other personality traits of Scorpios.
Welcome to the new members and big hugs to you all.

pigeoun i think thats how you spell it and the teat on it has a shape just like the nipple and all and it apparently is suppose to be like the nipple to i had caleb useing that he was quiet good with it and i had no probs with it at all maybe you can try something like that
Hi Everyone and Welcome Caleb & Baileys mum :)
So far i havent had a problem with EJ rolling in her cot thankfully, Ill have to look into matresses soon though cause she's going to need a proper cot rather than a shallower basinette section in a portacot which is her current bed.
Good tp see you Audrey here's some info on scorpio babies for you - pretty true i reckon - we have our hands full lol - Hope all will be ok with Niamh's weight maybe she's just a small baby. Remeber the growth charts in the baby book are based on formula fed not breastfed (theres a post under breastfeeding about it) breastfed babies are usually a little lighter i think? or can grow at a different rate
http://family.astrology.com/babiesIndex.html
Scorpio
When a Scorpio baby enters the world, all eyes will focus on them. And that's exactly how it will be for a long time to come, as this baby must be the center of attention! To that end, this is quite the manipulative little tot, sucking up energy from everyone around. The Scorpio baby is also a bit mysterious, making it hard to figure out what's wrong when the crying starts. So often, it's something which is seething below the surface and will be very hard to draw out of this child. You must also consider power struggles when thinking of this child, as the Scorpio baby will expect that Mom, Dad and everyone else will fit into their schedule and plans. Make no mistake, this is a powerful child! The flip side of this is that this baby is quite clear on what they want and how to get that message across. One important note: Scorpio babes loathe lounging in dirty diapers, so change them often! Many times, this can be the simple source of their discomfort. The Scorpio baby should be watched closely for that reason. Someone will generally be watching this child, though, as the Scorpio tot enjoys a crowd, especially one where it can lead the show. To sum up, the Scorpio baby is clever, wants things on their own terms and will know how to get it. Watch out!
Hope everyone and bubs are well:)

Welcome Kymmy!
Hahaha Cathyn - Ben IS a Scorpio baby! (Except he's a Saggitarius - maybe there's a crossover period!!)
Glad you enjoyed Tassie, Nara - that is kinda funny - you driving 3 hours to Mt Wellington! :D In Tas everything is relative, so a three hour drive to see something is MAMMOTH! Mt Wellington is stunning, isn't it? So pristine. How did you go on your first plane trip?
My little guy has turned into a major showoff! He has rolled a grand total of about 3 times in his whole life (and they were really unco SPLATS!) and hates tummy time. Today in Mum's group I put him on his stomach as it was part of our baby massage session, and first, he laid there propping himself up with his hands, then shuffled/half crawled forward, then rolled over, then rolled over AGAIN!!!! :smiliedance: He's never ever done anythink remotely like that! I was totally gobsmacked - it was like he was possessed! The question is: will he do it again for me?
Still struggling with the comp formula feeds - had a big breakthrough with him beginning to drink some, but he'll only drink about 20mls then spit the rest out...
Still getting very little sleep - are anyone else's babies sleeping through yet? (I can dream!) Tracey, I know your little angel is a good sleeper!
Enough from me, take care everyone,
Hi Everyone and welcome Kymmy:)
Claire, Congrats to Ben yeah EJ's still sleeping bad also - i dont think I've had more than a 3 hour sleep in a stretch for the last 3 weeks ARGHHH She still hasnt rolled apart from the 2 times though she'll roll side to side a lot or pretty much go right over to reach for a toy.
BTW for those Saggaratrius Babies here's the details lol
Sagittarius
That happy-go-lucky child in the play circle is bound to be a Sagittarius. These carefree tykes march to their own drummer, and yes, they will walk early! They'll also be beating a path to everywhere, since they love to explore. Independent and free-spirited, it's imperative that the Sagittarius baby have lots of room to roam. Confined spaces are a disaster for these wandering souls, so they'll simply flail about until they can get out. The good news in all this is that the Sag baby won't have to be entertained every second of the day. That said, be sure to keep tabs on them in public places, as they could easily wander away! Above all, the Sag baby loves to explore, whether it's a new toy or a new friend. No fear here! This kid is a sponge, soaking it all up with relish. Thankfully, this child will know how to make friends and can be counted on to have lots of them. They love being part of a group, whether it's at home or out in the big, brave world. And it's that world they want to see, which may be why it's so easy for this baby to hit the road. Whether by train, plane, or the high seas, the Sag baby will travel better than the rest. To sum up, the Sagittarius baby needs freedom, has a curious mind and is forever on a journey of discovery. Happy trails!
A freind's lent me a highchair - EJ actually had some vegies in it today - I think she's amazed to be sitting so high up - Its a older peg parego one which lays back and is height adjustable and on wheels so thats real handy:) She loves her veges (as long as they have sweetcorn in them lol) and pear - Found the pear works well as a laxative also which is good. Loves custards also but they seem to give her a little bit of a stomach ache so not sure if she could have a lactose intolerance since there's milk in them.
She's sitting up real well now though still does the occasional topple over but its rare now as she's getting a lot better at correcting herself. Got her weighed today and shes now 7.045kg (15lb 8.6oz) which is great:)
Anyway hope everyone and their bubs are well :)
Hi all
Welcome all newies :hugs:
:smiliedance: yay for Ben!! i bet he'll be rolling all over the place soon Claire!!
Ethan still is not rolling ! but i dont care he'll be running before i know it... :o
We got an activity centre today that they sit in and his feet touch the ground and he LOVES it !! It also saves me having to hold him in standing position permanently which he likes best... its great when i am trying to make dinner etc..
i was sitting him in the highchair but now he thinks highchair means food and gets upset if i put him in it and dont feed him LOL !!
Audrey, good to hear from you again.. i totally understand what you mean, when it was just Samuel life was so blissful and easy ! now with Ethan and my wretched (and divine) 2 year old i am in living hell some days!! i am sure most mums with more than one bubs understand what you are feeling... in regards to more, i am with you on that one too! definantly room for one more  (but a way off yet...) I wouldnt worry about Niamhs weight too much, just do the best you can !
Sleep..... yes sleep how i love it !! I do actually get plenty of sleep, Ethan is a dream boat ! no trouble at all through the night and getting better during the day too but Samuel still wakes at least once a night, usually because he cant locate his dummy and once found he will go straight back to sleep so its not too bad, generally i can attend to him in a "sleep" state iykwim?
I hope all of you who need it start getting some good sleep soon!
Anyway will check in on you all again soon

caleb is getting two teeth at the bottom they look so cute you so cute.
he sat up for a few sec with out my help today i was so happy for him.he has the cold at the moment so anoying for him for you dont know what to do ,
well i get him christened next sun cant wait:yelclap:
Caleb & Baileys mum,
EJ's bottom teeth are still not through though i dont think it will be long - it seems to be her top ones that are annoying her more though at present they are really lumpy.
EJ had a nasty cold a while ago - the Fess little noses saline drops (with aspirator) are really good though EJ HATED that aspirator with a vengance it was only near the end of the cold that she'd allow me to put it in her nose. Her nose ran for about 7-8 days though the first 3 days were the worst and she had a really nasty cough and ended up on antibiotics. Hope Caleb gets better soon.
I was going to have a buddist naming ceremony for EJ and got the details of a buddist monk though i didnt end up organising it - I think her grandparents would like to see her christened though

Hi everyone. Gosh...I step away for a few weeks and man there's a lot of reading to do.
Just to catch up...Pierenii (Peta) is rolling!! 180s, 360s and a few 720s. No donuts and no sets...fortunately. She's also been pushing up with her legs much, much more and is enjoying sitting up eyes darting to and fro. We've had her in the swing chair for a few weeks now and I'm thinking of pulling the walker out of storage. Not that I want her to walk...I've read all kinds of issues with using them. I just want to use the walker as an activity centre; it has a bigger play area than the swing chair so I can put more toys on it. She really enjoys her vtech turtle that plays little tunes and flashes lights all the time. Reuse toys...that's the plan!
It's so different from her older sister. Xenedra (Neddi) was very alert, loved attention, was very interactive, but didn't roll until almost 9 months. She was happy to lie and look at the world from but a few vantage points. Peta, on the other hand, is already bored with "face up/ face down" and is pretty impatient to get to crawling and perhaps even walking. I can see a mad scamble to re-babyproof the house again. Argh!
Peta's feeds have tapered off. She used to be on four solid bottles of 180ml, but she's pulled back a bit between 120-160ml per feed. She gets easily distracted near the end of the feed and it's hard to tell whether she's drinking or just playing with the teat. Hmmmm... I've started trying to teach her sign language for "more" and "enough". I may be jumping the gun in terms of her gross motor skills, but I think she'll start associating her excited gestures for more food with my question and hand movements. I try and sign her hands every once in a while. I hope this works! And farex...what is this stuff and how do they stand eating it??? Oh well...here we go.
@Bella. How's Ben's feeding? I had the same reaction about Rags and Fairies, but exactly the opposite. HAH HAH. But then, I've got two girls; the older being a real girly-girl. Neddi wouldn't stop bugging me for days when they rotated the shows. I even called Seven to complain! :banghead: Now...all is well and I'm taping them in case they go off again.
@Nara. Thanks for the welcome and how's tasmania?
@Renee, Kayanna's Mum. Your little girl was born one day before Peta. Welcome!
Ooop...bedtime for the older one...gotta go. Talk to y'all soon.

my son caleb is haveing sweetcorn and chicken he loves that,
and last week he had a whole jar of puree pears. He is now got two teeth at the bottom that has broken in they look so cute yet you can see them when you open his mouth it was the bestest thing ever i had put my finger in his mouth and felt this thing and wanted to know what it was and it was his teeth yay,
im getting them christened soon actually next week so i cant wait for that .
how's everyone else and there baby's going?
WOW I can't believe some bubs are already getting their first teeth. Sienna is chewing on anything she can fit into her mouth, but DS did that from about 3mths til about 10mths then stopped all of a sudden...and we didn't notice when he got his first tooth at 17mths  Hopefully when Sienna gets her first teeth they are as easy and painless for her as DS's were for him.
I am taking Sienna to the drs next tuesday to get her 4mth needles...I feel sooo naughty...she was sick for 2 weeks when she was due for them and I haven't had any time, or access to the car, to take her til now :o Just curious...have any of you decided not to immunise your bubs? Why?
kymmy A bumbo for $27, what a bargain. I don't like highchairs much either, they take up way too much space and you can't really take them anywhere
I'm going to get a booster chair for Sienna, there is a couple around that recline like alot of high chairs do...one costs $70 and the other $120, still deciding which one I want...but both have a tray which is good if you have a glass dining table and don't want a child banging their cup on it like DS seemed to enjoy doing.
quintets My DS (3yrs old) also loves the fairies...we made a fairy wand a few days ago and he walks around counting 'fairy 1, fairy 2, fairy 3' haha
Oh, I have no idea how bubs stand to eat Farex...apparently it's made from rice...I know I couldn't eat plain rice :barf: A few people I know have not even bothered to give their bubs Farex and have just started with apple.
Well...thats about it from me...hope everyone is well...have a great weekend
Hi all. Great to hear how your bubs are doing. Cant believe all the food it sounds like their eating already! My health nurse said I didnt need to start him on solids until he starts waking in the night again (meaning he is getting hungry for more food). Which he hasnt really done yet. So is still just on breast milk - but is healthy as anything! Mind you, Ive tried the rice cereal a couple of times just to see how he takes it, and he doesnt seem interested at all! He just sits there with a funny look on his face and doesnt do anything with his mouth, so it all just comes out again with his dribble! He loves chewing on rusks though, but again, doesnt eat any of it, it just comes out again. Maybe he isnt ready to eat yet, or isnt at the stage where he knows how to! Any advise?
As far as teeth, his fourth one seems to be on its way out! They are all on the bottom too, which I think isnt the normal way to come... :D
But yes, its definately gorgeous to see a smile with the little teeth in it! But it also really hurts when he grabs your finger to chew on it!!
Ive been really sick this week with a virus... has knocked me rotton. Its especially hard because Im single... so its all up to me! The poor boy has gone without a bath because I havent been strong enough to give it... hopefully I'll be up to it today!!
K. Well I had better leave it there and get back to trying to catch up with the washing!
Love to all you and yours! :)
OMG, you go away for a week and look what happens, there are soo many posts to catch up on. It great to hear how everyones bubs are going.
Senna is still not rolling fromback to to front, she won't even make any attempt, she will roll from front to back when she's had enough tummy time. She loves to sit up with support and take in everything thats going on around her.
We have started solids and she loves the pear and banana farex, we only have 1 meal a day. Does anyone else have more, and when did you start giving another 1.
She's just started to sleep through again (11hrs) after a 12 week period of 2 wakes a night. and has 3 day sleeps, 2 30min ones 1 2 hour 1.
Better go little monkey has just woken is babbling that she wants to get up now:ecomcity:

Tracey - you new avatar is gorgeous!
Sarahlouise - hope you're feeling better!
Mel2878 - do you recon Senna is sleeping through again because of the solids?
Aw man! I'm so jealous! ;) Everyone's bubs have teeth ... and are eating solids ... and rolling! (My hunch was right - Ben only rolls if he has an audience!!!) We'll get there - the CHN gave me some rusks (free samples) today which will be Ben's first taste of something edible!
Jireh - Ben is STILL a distracted drinker! Funny little guy. I laughed when I read about you taping Raggs and the Fairies - great idea! :D
I got completely sucked in today in Myer when a hawker for the Portrait Place conned me into getting Ben's photo taken for free, with one free print. One little catch ... any other prints cost $80! OMG! I'm sending my hubby to pick up the free print, so there is no possibility of me buying anything! (I got a little bit teary when I saw my little man posing for the photos - one was in a suitcase with teddies:p ) Has anyone else been caught like this?
Take care everyone,
Hi again.
Thanks Claire, I am starting to feel better. Howd the rusks go? My DS loved them straight away. The CHN said that he wouldnt really be able to hold them in his mouth for long for lack of hand control... but the second time I gave him one he chewed on it for a steady 1/2hour!!
Mel, Im soo jealous 11hrs at night!! Cant wait to get some good sleep again! My boy was sleeping well through the night around 8-9hrs but since daylight savings change over... Ive started having problems! Oh well... just gotta remember it wont last forever! :smiliedance:
Ok.. well Im off to watch Desperate Housewives!
Ooo'roo!
SarahLouise - good to hear you're feeling a bit better:)
Mel - You're lucky with the sleeping through - EJ's still sleeping terribly though it is getting a lot better than it was - She shocked me before woke up crying but got in there and she was pretty happy gave her a change and put her back and she went straight back to sleep - this is a shock as usually nothing will calm her apaprt from another feed....
Claire - EJs teeth havent still come through either - wish they would it hurts her to chew on things a bit sometimes. Ej still hasnt rolled back to front fully since a few weeks ago though is continuing to roll nearly the whole way over to grab a ball or something that she wants thats not close by. Portrait place sucked me in also we just got the free photo - there was another i really wanted though but at $115 for the 8x10 no way - $80 was the small pic with 4 little ones if i remeber.
Kymmy - I have a bumbo also, $27 is a great deal mine was $70. I was attempting to feed her in that but shes now worked out a way of trying to get out of it so it got a little hard keeping her in there if she didnt want to stay in there.
CWSmum - EJ detests farex even with fruit in it - i gather its too bland for her tastes (I ate and still eat heaps of chili so maybe thats why lol).
Went out for my birthday on Friday and EJ won a smoothie maker in a raffle looks like I'm going to have to make smooties for her when she gets older lol - not sure if its suitable for making baby food though lol. We have our 6 month CHN check on Wed (even though she isnt 6 months till the 15th) so hopefully she'll go real well:).
Anyway hope everyone & Bubs are well:)
Hi Everyone,
Bella28 - i can only assume its because of the solids, as she started sleeping through again when we started them. I too got sucked in by the photos, except mine were by GFP, the same guys that come and take the photo's in hospital, they rang and said do i want to come in for a free portrait, so off we went, Senna had 3 different poses taken and i chose my fav, then the photographer said we'll send you the package in the post in 10 days and if you don't want any send them back. Well as you can guess when the package showed up i was so excited and couldn't bear to send any back so $250 later i have some nice pics tho:laughing:

Hi everyone,
Sarahlouise - Ben LOVED his rusks! He devoured it! The CHN said it was just to practice his hand to mouth co-ordination and licking impulse, but Ben decided it was morning tea! It went everywhere! All over his face, bib, clothes and mat! (It stuck like glue to his cheeks - nearly had to consider AJAX to get it off!! :D Ha ha) He had a bit of a cough, I was worried about choking, but he was okay. Are rusks generally for eating, or just sucking?
Ben's sleeping went haywire at daylight savings, too and has only just calmed down now :fingerscrossed: . I'm now getting a whole 4 hours at a stretch!
Just wondering what all your Mums groups are doing for activities now that winter is approaching? We're at a loose end! - No walking or park outings because of the impending chilly weather ...
Take care everyone,
Claire - great to hear re the rusks, yep Jonah gets it everywher too... they are sticky on the skin arent they - Im not worried to much about it though - I figure Im fighting a loosing battle! Im going thru bibs like nothing else! RE choking - just make sure your always watching him with it. Jonah choked on one, so I stuck my finger in and scoped it out, but they have the natural mechinism that brings it up for them, and he just spat/vomitted it all out again, so just as long as your there if he cant get it up by himself... has your CHN showed you what to do when they choke badly? As far as if they are for eating or sucking... Id say it doesnt really matter - I went out on Sunday for a do, and there was a 1yr old there who pick up Jonahs forgotten rusk and started munching away!
Does your mums group do stuff?!?! We all just sit around and eat and gas bag!!:ecomcity: We are all pretty good at it too!! You could play some good old fashion board games or something?!
What do other groups do? Ive seen on tv the mums fitness group thingy - wish they had that in my area... gotta get rid of my sagging tummy. Dont know, but Ive heard people talk about the "overhang" from C-sections, which I had (had an emergency one) do people have the overhang with a natural birth? Anyone got any tips for getting rid of it? Ive go stretch marks bad too...can I get rid of them?
Anyone, enough of that disgusting talk.. gotta get back to work!
Cheers
Sarah :)

Hahaha! I am frustrated with my yucky-looking tummy, too  . I don't have an overhang (natural birth), but lots of stretch marks and that line that runs from my belly button south!! I found walking, walking, walking helped - but if I have a slobby week it starts to grow back!
Our Mum's group finishes next week, so we'll be kicked out of the Health Centre to make way for the next Mum's group, so we're looking for alternative locations and things to do ... there's not many places a pram army is welcome! (cafes, etc!)
Claire - ours mums group started by going to cafes (with plenty of room) and then when bubs were more active we started going to each others homes.. until summer and then back to the parks. Now because the kids are older and ALOT more active we go to an indoor play centre each week. We can have coffees and chats and the kiddies entertain themselves.
There is now only 4 members of our original group left but we have all had our second bubs within months of each other and have made strong and lasting friendships. I couldnt do without our weekly meets...
Oh and i LOVE your new Avatar too ! Ben is such a cutie :D
SarahLouise- i hate my mummy tummy too
Oh and in regards to photographers ... firstly I NEVER get sucked in to buy more than i want.. these companies are going to be offering you the "free pic" deal for a long, long time... get your pics done, take your freebie and say thankyou very much  mind you if they have taken a pic that i cant resisit i will buy it but only if its absolutely PERFECT !! *NB- new avatar is latest "free" pixi photo
:hugs: to all
