Felt like my left ovary was going to explode?? Have you had that pain?

I woke up about 3 times last night with a huge sharp pain in my left ovary (well where i would think it would be)... it was soooo painful, like someone was squeezing it...

Hun i would go to the hosp and get a scan.. You want to rule out an ectopic preg... :hugs:

Hey hun yes I have in my lower leftside, was week and bit ago woke up during the night in excruciating pain had to rock myself to keep the pain at bay lasted 30 min or so but really wasnt pleasant actually made me want to vomit!!

The only thought that ran through my mind was 'is this an ectopic pregnancy?', but i was told that the pain would continue and would feel dizzy etc and i didnt have any other symptoms so dismissed it.

If your still feeling pain even dull throb you should go to hospital, just to rule out an ectopic pregnancy or an ovarian cysts (http://www.4woman.gov/faq/ovarian_cysts.htm) with commonly grow with pregnancy hormones.

I suffer from exactly the pain you described and it is because of a huge cyst on my ovary that grows and bursts.

Only way to be sure is see gyno for an internal and have a internal ultrasound.

Have heard of woman also having this pain when ovulating.

I havent got that pain now

but about a year b4 i got pregnant with DS i had a 12cm cyst burst.. after days of pain( i was booked the nexy day to have it removed).. but it popped too early... i had several cyats that year and have luvkily had none since having DS ......get it checked out hun to rule out that its not a cyst as they are extremly painful if they pop... and incase of eptopic preganacy tooo..let us know how u go:hugs:

well, thanks for your responses.

i didnt get it checked out.. but i got a scan and its not ectoptic, saw heartbeat which is reassuring...

the interesting thing is that the hospital doctor said,, "oh, you obviously have PCOS" when she saw my ovary, and i said "what - no, i dont think so" and she changed subject and said not to worry.....

it wasnt my ob, it was the hospital, and my mind wasnt thinking clearly, so i didnt ask further... so perhaps there are cysts (is that what PCOS is??) anyway, i have my appt in 2 weeks with my ob/gyno... so i will ask then! no pain in left ovary, but getting really sharp stabbing pains around my belly button now!! (will this ever end?) and its really painful at night! oh well, i guess part of pregnancy (i hope??):detective:

PCOS means poly cystic ovary syndrome

i used to have it b4 i had DS... after u have kids it goes ...i was always getting cysts on my ovaries alot...and they were painful.. hope ur ok xoxo i cant wait to hear bubbas heart beat

I have that pain too!

About a year ago I had an ultra sound as my GP did an internal and said it my left ovary felt swollen. But nothing showed up in the ultra sound. I'm having a scan in a few weeks and now I am parinoid that I could be eptopic... scary stuff.
