Anyone in or near Tom Price?

My husband and I are considering moving to Tom Price with our two sons for work. I'm trying to find out as much infomation as I can on what the community is like and if it's a good place to raise kids and what sort of support network is there for Mums.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!:)

Hi there!

I'm 80kms away from Tom Price in Paraburdoo.

We lived in Tom Price until September last year.

It is a lovely little town with a few Playgroups formed.

So is it a good place to raise kids? Are the Mums there friendly?

Its a great place, has two primary schools and one high school.

Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. How old are your sons?

The town is small, but spread out.

My sons are 3 and a half years and 5 and a half months. For some reason I've always wanted to raise my family in the country, although I know it will be hard living away from family.

We're hoping that he may get work with Pilbra Iron, we're going to send an applicationin and see what happens.

Goodluck, my DF works for Pilbara Iron. They are fantastic and really look after there employees!

What trade does your DP have?

He is a Mechanical Fitter or Heavy Duty Fitter. What does your husband do?

Is it easy to get work with Pilbra Iron? Or is it a long and difficult process?

Matt is an electrician :).

It did take awhile, he applied for job in July and started in September. Between that time he had a Medical, and aptitude tests.

We were living in Tom Price and Matt was working for another company and then applied for the Pilbara Iron job in Paraburdoo and got it! So we moved over here.

Hi, I spoke to you earlier in the year about us moving up north and I'm glad to say my hubby just got a job with Pilbra Iron in Paraburdoo. We're really excited, not sure exactly yet when we will be there, but I would think in the next few months!

I'm in Karratha about 5 hours (i think) away. I lived in Tom Price as a kid and what i remember was great i loved it. mind you that was about 25 years ago but i hear now its still a nice place for families. :)

Well we might be moving to Dampier! Matt's had an interview so fingers crossed.. Although i'm not fussed either way :)

That will be great, Dampier is only about 20 mins drive from Karratha :sunshine:
