I have to say I have the best FIL in the world. He adores his granddaughters to death. He adores his daughter in law (me of course). He is so proud of his son and the achivements he has made with career and family (my DH).

He showers the girls with anything they possibly would want/need both with material means and emotional means.

If we need anything he is always there for us even though he currently lives in Newcastle and we live in Melbourne.

He was even going to cancell his flight to Melbourne and fly to Canberra instead to help me last week when I was looking for houses with me and the girls.

I just love him like a dad. Just wanted to tell everyone and anyone who would listen.

There's another similar thread (scroll down and go to the "Issues with Family Member" section) posted long ago...

But here's the link anyway: Shaelia's I love my MIL (http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=7595)

Miss Understood, you are so lucky and thank you for sharing, as it is always good to hear the "nice" things! :)

But I beg to differ :p

I think I have the bestest FIL. He is such a sweetie and absolutely adores me. DH is one of three son's, so as a DIL I am very much treasured.

He makes an effort to call or see us regularly and always tell's us "I love you".

He is a real caring, loving and gentle man and in some ways I am closer to him than my own father.

One day when I was at his house and friend of his said to me "well now you need to have a granddaughter for your FIL" and my FIL replied "I don't need a granddaughter, look at my DIL she is the most beautiful girl in the world" - aaawww!!

It's true, the nice things are lovely to hear, especially seeing it is the season for it and I am feeling all emotional instead of cynical.

I have a lovely FIL too, I can't really think of anything in particular he does; he is just a lovely man.

When I met his son he said to him "Oooo keep a hold of that one"!

How could I not like him?

So well done missunderstood for spreading the good word on FILs.

My in laws are both very kind and generous people, and I feel that I have been blessed with them. They are so so so good to the three of us.

Just before I left work to start my maternity leave my in laws paid off our mortgage for us!!
For that I will be forever grateful. It allowed me the time and freedom to stay at home with my little bubba and watch her grow:)

Maybe you could print up this page for him Donna and frame it for him. He would get a bit of a kick out of it. If you do..let me know so I can delete this post..
OM.
oh no he wouldn't like that. He hates all the mushy complimenty stuff - he is such an old tough boot :)
