Hi all

I have been having some abdominal pressure/pain without any bleeding for a couple of weeks now.
I spoke to my sister who is a mother and she said that it is normal and not to worry.
But yesterday I had a God almighty pain, that I was pretty worried about.

I was just wondering if this sort of pain is very common or not.

Your experiences would be very helpful!

Thanks in Advance
Mic

At this early stage in your pregnancy your uterus is stretching and growing. As a first time mama this is a really big deal for the biggest muscle in the body! Some pain is normal with this. Taking a magnesium/calcium supplement will help the muscles tone up and stop cramping. Unless you have regular cramping or bright red bleeding, you're fine :)

Hi Janet

Thanks so much for the info....I have some of those tablets that a naturopath gave me from a little while ago....I will give them a go.

Thanks again :D

HI
I have been having cramping pains as well without bleeding. I think from what other folk say it is normal. I am a first timer as well and am little nervous about it. They say it is stretching etc.:hugs:

I did not have any of the pains you are describing with my first born. I was a size 10 when I fell pregnant so I guess if I was going to have stretching/growing pains, I would have had them then (I did gain 25 kilos). Starting this pregnancy I was a size 14 and it alarmed me when I started feeling them, but people I have spoken to (including pro's) say that it usually only happens in subsequent pregnancies. I know everyone is different so is every pregnancy, but I just thought I would tell you about mine!

think of the pains as contractions. they help our uterus to expand. they can be quite fierce at times but do go away. (not as bad as real contractions during labour though ). if you are worried try recording everytime you have a pain. also try to breathe through the pain and relax. it can help. my pains were really stong from 2 weeks until about 3 months. as long as there isn't bleeding you should be ok.

I had abdominal pain with both of my pg's. They say that its just ligaments and the uterus stretching. Its also because in early pg a lot of blood is rushed to that area for the baby. So you can sometimes feel that by pain. I hope this helps.

i have had pain the last two days - almost like a real pressure 'down there'. feels like everything is getting dragged down and will fall out!! have been constipated too so thought might be that. also worried it might be a UTI....ooh, have just booked into see a GP to check it out. hurts to poo and urinate (sorry if TMI!!!!). no bleeding though. just uncomfortable. anyone had this?

I have had this with all of my pregnancies......and have 3 rambunctious healthy boys (so far)...... so dont worry too much.....

I describe the feeling as the same as when you have a hard boiled lolly stuck in your throat, only down below and alot bigger......and on top of that I suffer terrible constipation (or should I say, everything is just trapped, as it is not like non-pregnancy constipation)..... I also get a sharp pain in my right side (which with my 2nd and with this one my Dr freaked thinking I had an ectopic pregnancy), but turns out it is just ligaments etc.....

It's a good time to practice some of those active labour positions.......I get on my hands and knees and rock my bum about, seems to loosen things up a bit and I feel better for a while...

I also had the pains that a lot of you guys are describing, but it landed me in maternity ward overnight when I was 19 weeks pg - Bubs was fine, it turned out to be kidney stones, and I had pain shooting down the right hand side of my uterus. It was terrifying at the time, really thought it was the start of a miscarriage, but now I have a gorgeous healthy 8 month old bub!

Hope everything's well with you guys!:)

Im sooo glad to hear Im not the only one, although Im only 4 and half weeks pregnant, i have been feeling this sharp like pain from my lower tummy all the way down. It only lasts 5 seconds if that each time. I too have heard its just my body adjusting and stretchig but i still get nervous.lol. Im going straight to the doctor on Tuesday. I have been thru alot to get here and Im not about to let it slide.
So girls if u dont feel right or comfortable, get it checked just for ur own piece of mind.

Goodluck to u all!

Yes i too had similar pains/cramps during pregnancy, though at around 16-24 weeks approx - had them checked out by dr, who thought i had gallstaones, u/s showed i didn't, so had no idea what they were (first time mum, to now 7 month old). Later told by friend that growing pains - ie stretching etc. Sounds normal, but if worried, is best to see your dr and have it checked out for peace of mind. No one knows your body better than you.
Hope all is well and it is just your body stretching and preparing for childbirth.:hugs:

I am 4 1/2 weeks pregnant and days 12 to 15 past ov i had AF like pains and cramping. By day 16 it felt like my entire region down below was becoming realigned with some very short lived but acute pains down in the groin, upper thighs and even down "there"! I also felt like there was a pressure there permanently. However, by 18 DPO I feel nothing..just the occasional twinge down below in the abdomen which last about 1 second then leaves every now and then. You may find that the pains do subside and develop into a dull ache perhaps? If the pains are very strong though, you should go to the doctor just to check it all out.

I am so glad I joined this site...I have been having these same pains for the last couple of days and have been convinced that I am going to m/c again.....I am glad to hear that what I am feeling is normal...I liken it to when they make you drink alot of water before an untrasound..that full feeling
