My Alice Soaker needs leg cuffs and I'm a bit stuck- I'd love some help
I just feel that it would have a better fit, would make my soaker better for night and I have heaps of this gorgeous dyed wool left anyway and I don't want to finish with it yet :D

I have 4 double-pointed-needles, but two look like about 3.25mm and 2 look like 4mm. They are called Cable Needles. Do I use them to knit the ribbing in the round? How do I attach it onto the leg openings?

If you have any sites bookmarked that might help me, I'd love to know of them!! Knittinghelp.com doesn't really have anything about this, it seems.

Thanks heaps!! :)

I'm not sure Em sorry, hope someone can answer your Q. My MIL said something about picking up stitches? Sorry I don't know :o But at least I've bumped you

Cable and double pointed needles are different. Cables are for cabling and DPNs are used for knitting small objects in the round. For picking up stitches I would use a knitting needle and a crochet hook.

On knitting help look at the video for picking up stitches which is what you need to do. I can't help anymore than that because I got annoyed at my attempt of it and ripped out all the stitches.

It may have been easier to have knitted them flat (when its not sewn up)

It can be tricky picking up stitches esp with DPNs.

Sorry that is not much help. :o

A circular needle would be much easier (30cm length)

If you google - leg cuffs soaker - you may be able to get an idea of how it may work.

Ugh. So this is gonna be trickier then I thought.. It's a pain because the Alice is a little too narrow in the crotch for little miss A and ribbing would help.

Thanks anyway Em, CK and Kym. So I have to learn how to pick up stiches and knit ribbing from there.

Or maybe I can get some DPNs and knit some ribbing on the round seperatley, and then sew it on with the yarn?? Or work out how wide I need the cuffs to be and knit two pecies of ribbing flat, and then sew it together?

OR... take my knitting with me to Nana's on Easter Saturday and get her to do it for me ;)

Thanks Kym!! I wanted to get a circular needle anyway, but was wondering what sort :D

Thanks, I'll do some googling now

I love my addis turbos...really recommend them for a circ! General consensus is to avoid the cheap ones

I have a lot of addis.
There are a few other quality circs around but not yet available in Aus (buy OS) but will try when they are !

I hear this around too, CK- my mum thinks that they are all as fiddly as the pair she got from Spotlight, but apparently not. Will be getting myself some addis next pay! :D

There is nothing worse than having done a fair few rounds on cheap circs then it breaks :rolleyes....:banghead: Since that I have bought up the addis - yes I have way too many (esp for someone who rarely knits in the round - I use them all the time now)

I have 2 pairs of addis and some cheaper ones.. I've never even used the cheaper ones because I find the addis so glorious to knit with. They are really smooth and I find knitting in the round quite relaxing with them.
