First appointment with gynecologist

Hello All,

Can't anyone tell me what happens during the first appointment with the gynecologist. I have being TTC#2 for over a year now.

Do you just talk about your conception attempts and health history or do they do anything. For example, take some blood for tests.

What can I expect?

Depends on the gyn but I had an internal to may sure there wasn't anything unusual that could be easily spotted. Mostly though they will ask about how things have gone and health history. All the best.

Hi Not too sure if this is too late. But on my first visit i just talked about what was going on with my body how i was feeling she did a smear then sent me off for a heap of bloods to check I was O'ing etc and that was it

Hi! Hope your appointment goes well- It is often useful in the beginning to see if the gyn you are going to is an actual Fertility Specialist... plenty of people waste their time visiting a gyn, for months, when they end up having to go to a FS in the end anyway for any actual treatment.

It went ok yesterday. I felt a bit emotional which I think was actually relief in seeing someone about it and all the baby pics on the waiting room wall.

I had a smear recently so he did a quick internal and he felt my stomach. All seems ok. I will go to have a blood test on CD21 to get progesterone to see if I'm ovulating.

I'll check to see if the Gyn is a FS.
