Is anyone finding baby carriers too hot to use in the summer? I am considering buying one for when my bub comes along but i imagine this sticky weather will make me (and bub) boil!

Hi Eva

I haven't had much trouble with my baby being hot. I have a baby bjorn. We were out for quite a while today (34 degrees!!) and he started getting sweaty so I just blew some cool air down around his face and he seemed OK. If you're walking around it should be ok, cos there's airflow through the sides.

Maybe you could keep a damp facewasher with you in case baby gets sweaty. :)

Hi Wattle,
I'm also looking into getting a few slings
My Bubs due in July so I'll use my home-made tube sling when he/she's newborn. Have also loaned a hug-a bub from a friend who's not using hers at the mo....cant wait to give that a try.....& By the time Summer comes around, (and if Weeny buba loves the whole carrying thing) I'd like to get a ring sling with adjustable rails (good for bubs that are wiggling around)....You can get some that are made out of a mesh/cotton fabric and I think that might be good in summer.
Were r u living? If your in Bris check out the carryaway website

I've just discovered a baby sling called Gentle Nest, they make pouch or tube style slings, which really are comfy in the summertime. I think I'm addicted, they're just so easy to use and I find they're less constricting than other types of carriers, perhaps because they're so easy to put on and take off, and easy to just pop the baby in. (I had struggled with a 6m long wrap last winter but couldn't bear the thought of putting it on once the weather got hot). If you're interested, the website is www.geocities.com/gentle_nest/mainpage.html

I had a baby bjorn and a tommy one, i found neither two hot. The only problem i did have, especially with the tommy one is that they tend to get really uncomfortable. After a day of walking around my neck, shoulders or back would be aching like hell.
