Hi...I was just wondering how many c/s you can have??? I was told once that you can only have 3 c/s and was just wondering if this was true?I had to have an emergency c/s with my son due to complications and would have to have elective c/s for any future pregnancies...

I'm having my 3rd this june and my OB has never mentioned to me any limits. I don't have a choice anyway, so if I wanted 10 more kids they would have to be birthed via c-secs.

While I was in hospy with ds one of the nurses I knew had a sister who had 7 c-secs. So who knows?

One of my extended extended family members had 7 too. They told her 4 or 5 was her limit and that she was seriously risking her life. With the last one they ended up having to tie her tubes as it nearly killed her- mind you her youngest is probably 18 now

I was told by my OB when I elected to have a c-section that if I was considering a big family then it's probably wise to rethink that and not go over three. Suits me, I don't particuarly want a big family anyway. Generally the risk of infertility and miscarriage due to scar tissue, uterine rupture and adhesions to other organs becomes greater with each c-section you have, though obviously some women's body's cope much better with it than others and can safely have more, whereas some have serious problems after one or two.

My friend had her 4th C-Section last year with no problems at all. Not sure if there is a limit.

I've had 3 and have just got 'permission' to have a 4th but it will be a classical csect this time and they want me to get my tubes tied as feel a 5th would be too risky to even risk an accidental pregnancy afterwards :( Not fair if you ask me as I doubt I'll want to be stopping!

I have just had my 3rd c-section.
One was a classical and two were elective.

When I was attending my antenatal check ups, doctors would ask frequently if I was having anymore.
I asked if I would be able to, as I always thought the limit was 3.
Doctors said they didn't see why not if I was healthy and healed well.

My husband and I thought carefully and decided we have enough kiddies, so got my tubes tied instead when I had my c-section.
Didn't want to risk anymore complications.
My pregnancies have never been smooth sailing.

If you can have 7.....WOW!!!!!!:smiliedance:

Two of my cousins have had 4 each. One of them wants to try for number 5 next year and her Dr said ok as she heals great and hasnt had any complications. I guess each person can be different???

Hi,

I've had 4. My ob/gyn said there is no limit to csections. He said, apparently the world record is 12. I am hoping to have 2 more children so I'm not worried.

I think it really just depends on how long you leave your body to heal before you have the next one. I had an elective c/s and plan on having 2-3 more. I was just told as long as I leave my stomach/uterus time to heal (not get pregnant within a year of the c/s) then there shouldn't be any problems.

The Obstetrician who cut my friend's episiotomy (which resulted in a 7 cm haematoma) told me that his wife had had 5 ceasarians.

I've also known women who've had vaginal births at home after 3 ceasarians.
