A question - why do people only use microfibre as an additional booster. Doesn't it hold enough moisture to use instead of hemp/bamboo?
microfibre can generally cause compression leaking if used alone, especially bubs who are sitting for long periods.
Nappy looks great:thumbsup:

Love the nappy Wattle (and the model that goes with it of course - so cute) it looks awesome. I like what you have done on the back of the nappy.
Micro boosters - They are great for night time in a pocket nappy with a hemp or bamboo insert or tri-fold. It compresses which causes it to slowly weep out on the hemp or bamboo which then makes it last longer.
ETA - oh and i put 2 micro's together in a Fuzzi Bunz for an over night nappy sometimes, works a treat :D
no worries, in saying that tho microfibre alone works for DS most of the time

Hi Wattle, I'm new to these sorts of cloth nappies. Cupboard full of flats waiting for rain!!
Did You copy a nappy or find a pattern ? And where did you source your materials?
I'd much rather make my own than buy.
I've just been playing around with my own design with readily available materials, and it seems to be working pretty well, esp with a double layer of fleece.
Yes, cute model too......but I am biased. :D

Could you please PM me the ingredients & a run down of your recipe? (sorry can't think of sewingf words ATM! )Would love to learn /know more!
I based the shape on a wee weka pattern, but changed quite a few things. Actually every one I have made has been different - I'm still experimenting, but getting closer to my ideal one.
Lincraft has lovely quality fleece atm, much nicer that the fleece at my local spotlight. (But of course not as lovely as MM)
Just google the wee weka pattern, the instructions are pretty good...........then get creative with different materials until you find what works for you.

So are they fleece on the outside only? What is the inside lined with ?
Does Lincraft (400kms away dammit!) have the microfibre & the hemp or bamboo material?
Sorry for all the Q's just keen to learn.

Oooohhhh Wee weka, sorry , in too much of a hurry to read properly
Commercial material shops don't sell the most popular nappy making materials (hemp, bamboo, maldern mills fleece, pul etc) you need to purchase them online.
If spotlight is miles away, it might be easier to do this anyway.
All mine have been different, so I don't have a set way of doing things yet, I'm just experimenting with readily available materials to see what works and what doesn't - some have fleece, some have flanalette, some have ripstop, some have snaps, some have velcro.....etc. :)

Also have to say I love the
:p I used to 'skinny dip', now I 'chunky dunk' in your sig!!! Thats so bloody true!
Thanks Angelmist. It's 2 layers of fleece, then on the inside there is a layer of flanallette, plus a flanallette covered fold out microfibre booster. :D Oh, and a little piece of ribbon.
